"A very busy lounge"

(Ireland)

Not Verified | A very busy lounge in the late afternoon. Good food offering, alcohol only available from manned bar and pretty standard. Difficult to get two seats together.

"Wonderful lounge to rest"

(United Arab Emirates)

Trip Verified | Wonderful lounge to rest before catching the flight to Dubai. This lounge has improved since the last time I flew with SQ. The lounge was nice and kept clean at all times! I was happy enough with the much and better improved lounge at Changi Airport Terminal 3.

"Use of space very inefficient"

(Australia)

Trip Verified | First time in new lounge, absolutely packed, seating layout is not well thought through here, many 6 seater semi circle bays were taken up by 2 people either lying down to sleep or full of their bags. Other lounger seats with kids lying asleep. Use of space very inefficient. Aircon not working well and Wi-Fi not working. I have been traveling SQ business class for 30 years and this is by far my worst lounge experience.

"too many people in too small a space"

(United Kingdom)

Trip Verified | Flying with EVA Air, I had the option of Air Canada's Maple Leaf Lounge or Singapore Airline's Silverkris Lounge. I decided on the latter, based on my high expectations of SA. However, I was warned it can get crowded. There was no smiling welcome, but a polite gesture towards the entrance. My first reaction was how small the lounge was, considering it shared it with other airlines as well as two night flights that evening with Singapore Airlines. There was a variety of seating options, tightly spaced restaurant style dining tables, lounge chairs, stools and a few cubicles, but which did not offer any privacy. One side of the lounge had a view of the apron with aircraft in their air jetties. Within half an hour of my visit, the place had got so crowded, that one had to share the seating where others were grouped and chatting. This prompted me to head to the tiny bar which had four bar stools. The drinks selection was limited, but a friendly barman made all the difference, and he was grateful when I showed him how to make a Manhattan cocktail for me. This opened up a chat and along with a few other fellow passengers who gathered standing around, and engaged in small talk, which helped to pass the time pleasantly. One passenger did complain when asking for champagne, was offered only prosecco! When I commented on how busy the place was to the barman, he replied "it can get a lot more crowded than this". There was a nice selection of finger food and salads, elegantly displayed, but small items of hot food - vegetarian noodles, chicken curry, pasta and boiled rice. I loved the little freezer filled with tubs of chocolate ice cream too. The toilets were basic, and although clean, there were no toiletries whatsoever. With all the praiseworthy reviews about Singapore airlines, one expected the lounge to reflect that glamour too. Sadly, while all the basic comforts were adequately provided, nothing outstanding helped to enhance the experience one expected. The lounge layout itself felt too crammed and no quiet areas to relax in. Perhaps too many people in too small a space.

"Very impressed by the new concept"

(Indonesia)

Trip Verified | Could use this lounge normally only accessible to Business Class and PPS Members, as the SQ Gold Lounge was still under renovation. Very impressed by the new concept, though seating can be a challenge during peak times. There is a good food and drinks selection and a nice perk is a full serviced bar for cocktails.

"ordinary waiting-room rather than a cosy place to relax"

(Vietnam)

Trip Verified | My first visit to SIA's new 1st class lounge (which in fact is a lounge for Solitaire PPS members only, because first class-passengers may use the 'Private Room') was disappointing. Located in a dark, not well lit tunnel with no daylight, where you can look from the bathrooms in the very end all the way to the lounge-entrance and believe you are located in an ordinary waiting-room rather than a cosy place to relax. The lounge is half of the size of the former 1st class lounge and was overcrowded. In the center you find a huge dining area, which seems compared to the places to relax, oversized. A small bar (less than half size of the former one) is located on the right and behind it you now find a big open kitchen, taking again space from the lounge itself, rather than hidden in the back as in the former lounge. The restrooms are in the back and while the toilets itself now are equipped with Japanese toilets (water flushing and cleaning), one urinal was covered with fluid and paper-waste was on the ground of the handwashing-area. The showers are an improvement, because they have a private toilet, as well now. The amenities however are poor: no shaving foam anymore, just shaving-cream. New is that they got 4 closed rooms, where you can sleep either on Slumberettes or real beds - but for a maximum of 2 hours only - which is by far too little for a good sleep. Boarding Passes also cannot be printed at the lounge anymore, so you need to walk to a SIA-transfer-center outside to get changes done. Wine is being served out of machines, another human touch gone. The choice of drinks is also lower, e. g. no Grand Marnier any more. As for the food, taste was good while cheaper dishes are offered: chicken satay instead of lamb or eggs any style for breakfast only - with neither hash browns or beans offered. No cheese or sushi-platters, overall the difference to the business-class section of the lounge (which I also visited) is marginal. Magazines and newspapers are not available. In the very end, I decided to move to the business-class section of the lounge with bright sunlight, more empty space and a by far more friendly atmosphere. Yes, the quality of the wines and the champagne is still better in the 1st class section, but other than that and the free Häagen Dazs ice-cream offered there, it's not worth all the money you have to spend becoming a Solitaire PPS member just to enjoy this disappointing place.

"definitely okay and above standard"

"food is very average"

(Australia)

Trip Verified | Krisflyer Gold lounge is currently shared with Marhaba lounge. It looks bad, sterile. It is good that the lounge has both Asian and Western food - but the food is very average. If getting the last good meal in Singapore is important, go to Singapore Street Food and don’t bother with the lounge. The wine selection is also bad. The French Shiraz lacks body, the Australian Cabernet Sauvignon lacks any form of structure. Tip: just get South Australian red wines for a cost effective safe bet. If the benefit of gold is using this loungee, then the only real benefit of Krisflyer gold is the extra baggage.

"atmosphere was nice"

(Canada)

Not Verified | The Silver Kris Lounge was small but the service was good. At the entrance the staff were very friendly. The food was average compared to the other lounges I went to. The lounge itself was small but was quiet. The atmosphere was nice too and the seats were good.

"did not enjoy my time in this lounge"

(Thailand)

Trip Verified | Singapore Airlines seems to think that their frequent fliers or other Star Alliance gold members deserve less than business class. They seperate the Gold lounge from the business and first class lounges. The lounge entrance is pretty much the only picture they advertise in their website, and it makes sense because it is the only visually appealing place in the entire lounge. The lounge is dark. The amount of light was equivalent to a dim street. Seats are arranged in rows of four with tables in between them. No dining area or dining tables. I was forced to eat on my lap. The seats themselves almost looked as if they were very dirty. Food was slightly worse than the Silverkris lounge, hot and cold food on offer, but no manned bar, you had to make your own gin and tonic. Rather questionable choice of meat, three chicken dishes, two veg dishes and pasta or rice. There was also stacks of dim sum available on wooden trays. Wifi was the same speed as the airport wifi, not bad. No showers were available. I only wanted a quick shave but this was not possible and the toilets were small. I did not enjoy my time in this lounge. I would like to say that this was in no way a 5 star experience. I would avoid flying Singapore Airlines in the future because of the way they treat Star Alliance gold members.
