Have American Airlines not seen the way the rest of the
world does it? What is a "pay bar"? What is it with ordering and paying for food? After paying $12,000 for a return business class ticket, I do not
expect to pay for a beer or a sandwich in the lounge waiting for a flight. As for the "drinks
vouchers" stamped with a date - cheap and nasty! It is a real pity because the lounge itself is richly appointed. It is a warm and comforting
environment spoilt by the need to pay for food and drinks.

Having flown AA for 20 years the Flagship Lounge/Admirals Club experience is one of my most
disappointing with AA. The typical Admirals Club is rather tired, has a poor selection of food and
drink and are often crowded. Internet access has become one of the main reasons I keep my
membership. The Flagship lounges (I have experienced LHR/ORD/San Juan) are better but typically
quite small. It is mind boggling to me that they do not have one at their hub in DFW - but even
these are nowhere near the quality of BA/Cathay for 1st class passengers. Their shower facilities
are fairly decent with Chicago being recently upgraded but again Flagship do not have these -
Admirals Club only. All in all not close to international standards with some of the lounges having
totally insufficient bathrooms for the capacity of the lounge (ORD G Concourse is a good example - 1
toilet for men in a club with a 100+ capacity).

This lounge has an interesting shape, which matches the exterior of the terminal ie. oval
shapes within ovals, but it was still quite large. When you enter you approach the doors and
they don't open, then you find a button that says "push for entry", by the time you've found
this the receptionist opens the door for you. The receptionist was pleasant and told me any
important information I should know such as she would announce the flight when it's ready.
Once inside the lounge looked quite new with leather seats which were actually very
comfortable and lots of space to spread out. The only complaint about this arrangement was
the marble tables were quite a distance from the seats so that you couldn't put your food and
drinks down if reading the newspaper. The lounge wasn't too busy at the time so finding a
seat was easy, finding the toilets were a little harder however as they were behind the oval
bar. The toilets were clean but followed the same strange shape as the rest of the lounge and
found the designers didn't utilise the space properly. The bar was fully stocked, some snacks
but mostly drink of the usual varieties. Above the bar were many clocks all set to different
time zones. The lounge was tidy but did notice a few uncollected plates etc, but not too
many. When flight announcements were made, these were clear and concise, however the flight
information screens were only located in reception. When leaving the receptionist said
"goodbye" and "thank you". The only other complaint was the lounge was at one end of the
terminal and the gate was at the other end so there was a long walk. Overall, it was a
pleasant experience to be there and would like to use it again.

As compared with some of the lounges I have used in other parts of the world, this one left a little
to be desired. The staff were brusque but efficient, the food took forever to come and I did not
know anything about a beverage voucher until I read the comments on this page. My wife accompanied
me but was not able to get onto the internet using her laptop whilst I was on. I think this is
silly! If you are inviting people to bring their spouses then, give everyone access to the internet.

This is an airline going downhill fast. Really too bad, since were outstanding 20-30 years
ago. The Admiral's club, one of the first lounge pioneers, tells the story of their decline
as vividly as the inflight service. Once modern and clean, the clubs are now dated, frayed
and offer little more than a glorified waiting room. The drinks and food that used to be
gratis have been replaced by bad, lukewarm coffee and stale pretzels. The carpets are dirty,
the furniture is old and worn. The restrooms are not spotless. The service at the front
desk is usually good, but I do not expect that to remain the case.

Clean, open, spacious. All plusses. The only minus comes from the fact that you have to pay for
drinks, and the choice of small red apples, dry crackers and the absence of a simple espresso
machine is just unforgivable. Free wifi if you come in paid - either the one day or the full
membership, which does scrape $7 off the cost if you were going to pay for it anyway.

My first experience of American Airlines Flagship First Class Lounge at Heathrow and a truly dire
state of affairs in every way. There was a notice apologizing for the ongoing renovations but this
does not account for the appalling lack of food - the dregs of some soup plus some plastic wrapped
synthetic looking cheese, some decidedly unappealing fruit and a few nuts and nibbles and cookies
and some very tired looking sandwiches which were in need of refrigeration. Limited choice of
beverages and none befitting a First Class fare. There were only 2 computers - one was not working
at all and the other very slow. Wifi access was available in the lounge but at a cost - I do not
know how they have the gall to make a charge. Likewise one phone available to make free local calls
otherwise all calls via credit card rip off charges. The bathrooms were better but could have done
with some tidying up etc. I cannot believe that regular AA fliers put up with this - nor their
Oneworld partners . You cannot begin to compare this Flagship Lounge with comparable BA Cathay or
Qantas lounges. Shame on you AA and if it wasn't over in a different terminal I would have visited
BA instead.

This is a very large Admirals Club and somewhat nicer than most domestic clubs. There are free
alcoholic beverages. The food on offer is minimal and usually cheese, crackers (biscuits), pickles,
fruit and cookies. If you want to eat a real meal before boarding, check out one of the upscale
restaurants in the T3 general departure lounge. The internet and office facilities are good. If
you're looking to rest or sleep, there is a quiet library room with reclining chairs. The usual
selection of TVs, magazines and newspapers and AA staff helpful with travel needs. On the downside,
at peak hours it will be crowded, although you'll still find a seat, you may be seated directly next
to someone. The layout and design is upscale, but the furniture is a bit worn - it is showing
it's age and could use some new furniture. This is more comfortable then the general departure
lounge and roughly comparable to the service you get onboard in AA business class - comfortable, but
still behind what other large European and Asian airlines provide.

This is the second time in six-months I have used the Miami Airport Admirals Club and on both
occasions I felt I was being checked into an internment camp. The people at the reception desk are
grumpy and rude. I know I am entitled to two free drink vouchers as a QANTAS Club member but I was
rudely told I am only entitled to one. The toilets were dirty and damaged. Free WiFi is not
available unless you have an Admirals Club card.
