Alize Class on Air France B777-300ER. Has anyone flown on this Class to Reunion, Guadeloupe or Martinique? I heard it's the same as another Air France long-haul service Tempo Class to anywhere in the world.

It is essentially a glorified coach which stands out only because the regular coach on these routes is so appalling. Expect a decent long haul economy service with a few goodies to make it look special: An amenity kit close to the (mediocre) regular business class one, real glasses, a "rich" appetizer etc... The real benefits are a slightly roomier feeling, being away from the howling masses (although a baby can ruin that) and a shorter wait for the lavatories.

The seat looks like a Tempo seat (éco) but is definitly more comfortable, to start with the Headrest, their is a footrest too with a foot massage integrated. The food is near to l'espace affaires (Business Class) ,with two choice of menu from l'espace affaires. You have a 6,4 inches TV with Video "On Demand", priority bording & debording and luggage delivery. Specific check-in counters

I flown several times from Paris to St Domingo in Alizé and Economy. Air France uses on this route B747, but I think the service definition is the same for all Carribean/Reunion routes. Alizé is more lile other companies Eco Plus class. You have the seats very similar to Eco seats, slightly wider with more legroom (still it's not business class seats!). The service is better than in Eco: pre-take off drinks (orange juice or punch), hot towels, choice between two hot dishes; the whole meal is better. The separated cabin is much more quite then the eco ones (less childs going on vacation).

Alizé class has better seat recline, better seat pitch than tempo/economy class and same meal as business class.

In fact it's not really the same, the pitch is better, you get a much better meal than in tempo (meal choice and free champagne) and the service is not as rushed as in the back. As well there's more miles to earn and this mini cabin can be very calm compared to eco. But it is quite expensive

As Steven said, Alizé is a bit too expensive for what you get. I paid 1500 euros return for my trip from BOD to FDF and that was a discounted fare! For the same price you can fly Air Caraďbes Madras class or Grand Large on Corsairfly which offer wider seats and better service (+ access to the Icare lounge at ORY when travelling with Air Caraďbes) - the only reason for flying AF would be the miles earning in my opinion.

Have travelled Alize CDG/HAV a few times. In summer its usually business class seat while in winter its just economy - always upstairs so it's quiet but then they upgrade their overbooked surplus from economy and fill it. Food is okay, never great on AF anyway, and there are dedicated crew so service is way better than economy - but for the extra money it's not really worth it unless you are lucky enough to get the business class seats!
