Has anyone flown on Qantas (QF 003/4) recently to/from Honolulu? I am travelling in economy class and heard Qantas use older 767s on this route and comfort factor is to be questioned.

I was just on this flight about 3 weeks ago from HNL to SYD - true, it is a 767 and it's not just off the assembly line! I was in Business and the seating was basically like a business class seat from a medium-haul flight about 15 years ago. Nothing wrong with it, just not great or anywhere near state-of-the-art. Having said that, it's "only" a 9-hour flight so it's not all that bad.

Qantas have withdrawn from SYD/MEL-HNL. They transferred the service to their new long-haul operator, Jetstar, a low-cost airline. They use 4 year old A330s, not B767s. Jetstar sell food onboard and (I think) rent DVD players on these flights. Much better service.

Qantas still fly between Syd and Honolulu on Wed, Fri and Sun. Jetstar fly on the other days of the week. Qantas has withdrawn from Mel to Honolulu, the only option is Jetstar. Qantas flights are all on old 767's (no PVT), I personally think Jetstar's A330's are much more comfortable, especially Starclass (Business), which is identical to Qantas Domestic Business Class. For Jetstar economy, the only downside is you need to purchase Food/Drinks, but with the savings over a similar ticket with Qantas.. DVD Players are available on Jetstar and are pretty good quality, better than you will get on a Qantas 767, which only has a main cabin screen.
