Premium Economy with Virgin or BA for trip to New York? As the prices for both the above are similar which would you recommend offers the better service? We
have an am flight outwards and an overnight flight on return. As an alternative would Maxjet be worth considering?

I can comment on BA World Traveller Plus - good, with some additional legroom, but dubious as to
whether its really worth the extra.

Having flown in the PE cabin on both airlines, I would have to say that BA is the better of the two,
as it provides an holistic service both on the ground and in the air. The crew are much more
professional and the cabin has a more intimate feel to it. I believe there is a sale for flights to
New York in PE at the moment so log on to BA.com for details. If you fly in PE you will be eligible
to join the Executive Club, and if you are dressed smart casual and check in early in New York, you
have a strong possibility of being upgraded to Club World. Also use this site for passenger feedback
and make your own conclusions.

Virgin PE good if you can get upstairs on the 747 service as it's a quiet cabin, I think BA
has better service on it's PE though, although the seats are not that comfy for
sleep and I would wonder whether it's really worth the extra money. PE doesn't really feel that special and if maxjet could be reliable, then I'd be tempted to
spend my money there.

Upstairs in Virgin's 747 PE service feels the most special, only 4 seats across with a wide aisle,
almost like business class during the day. Otherwise not much to choose between them on space. I
find BA's seat more comfortable as it has the headrest 'wings'. Food also slightly better on BA.
Service only marginally better than standard economy on either. Overall I slightly prefer BA.
Whether it's worth the extra over economy on either is debatable -not worth double the cost, but if
it's an extra 30-50% then go for it.

Took advice and booked WTP with BA. Complementary upgrade to Business on outbound flight which was a
bonus. Definately worth paying for WTP on a night flight from JFK. Managed to get 5 hours sleep
which is a first. The only issue is now I've tried business class i'm going to have to book all my
flights as Business as the difference in standards is much greater than I thought it would be.
