Has anyone flown Garuda Indonesia from Melbourne, Australia to Denpasar (Bali), Indonesia? What are
the service/IFE/seats/catering/reliability like? How do they match up to Qantas and Jetstar? How old
are the aircraft/how comfortable?

I have flown Garuda Indonesia to Denpasar and found them to be faultless - flew Business
Class on their A330 and was impressed. Food was excellent, cabin crew friendly and airline reliable.

Garuda Indonesia offers a choice of hot meals in executive and economy on Australian flights. They
use a combination of B737s (without any entertainment options) and i think A330s with cabin
screens. QANTAS and Jetstar are probably more comfortable and you would have something to do for the
5 or so hours flight

ADL-DPS and it was wonderful - was business class though. Its worth paying the extra few
hundred for the upgrade.

Pretty average as airlines go. You'll be on an A330 if you go from Melbourne. Not much else I
really say. If you fly QF you'll be on a JQ aircraft, I would personally fly on JQ on a QF flight
number (you'll then recieve a meal).

Its fairly basic, the meal is OK, typical Asian/Pasta meal most of the time. There are
no personal PTV, just large screen. They use their A330 for DPS-MEL-SYD-DPS legs. I'd rather fly
with Garuda than Jetstar for international route.

I was impressed with my Garuda flights. I flew with them for the 2nd time last month. The
seats had more room than some other flights I've been on, we were well fed (big lunch/dinner as well
as a couple of snacks including a Magnum icecream) and the attendants were helpful. The movies were
also new movies. Worst part was flying from Sydney via Melbourne and having to sit a Melbourne for 2
hrs. Just seemed to make it a really long day. Try and get a direct flight if you can. I would
definately fly with them over Jetstar and yes they would be comparable to Qantas.

I have flown Garuda several times and have no problem with them. They do not have an updated IFE but
main screens on the A330 ex Sydney. The crew are very mechanical but manage the odd smile. They have
always been on time when I've flown.

I flew with Garuda in July and found them to be excellent. The legroom
on offer is outstanding (definitely 34''!), food substantial and delicious, A330 dated but
acceptable and we would have arrived in DPS on time had there not been a multi-hour delay due to
foggy conditions at MEL. Flight back was on time - the only place Garuda lets itself down is in the
IFE stakes with only cabin screens and a few new release movies. Still, Garuda beats Jetstar hands-
down for service and comfort.
