Yes i have flown from NYC to AUH with Etihad. The flight was not very busy especially if you travel in the quiet season. The leg room is quite good and as long as you don't travel to and from AUH in the same month then you will have a very good choice of inflight movies. It is much better than Emirates on the similar route as Emirates is usually much busier while with Etihad you have a very good chance of having the seat besides you free.

Etihad operate daily to JFK from Abu Dhabi with Airbus A340-500s. Seat pitch is a rumoured 33" which is slightly more than normal. Flights depart Abu Dhabi in the early hours of the morning, around 2am & arrive at about 8/9am. Return flights are early lunchtime & gets in about 7/8 am the next day in Abu Dhabi. The seatback tvs are huge for economy, 10.4" across. You should get 2 full meals & a snack during your flight.
