If I had to have one of those three I would choose Lufthansa but I would try to get one of BA
(decent bed), Air France or Swiss.

Definitely Lufthansa - they are the only ones that offer angled lie-flat seats, the other airlines use old-
style cradle seats. Although be sure that you book the new business class with LH (now on all airbus
aircraft) - but not yet on all 747's. Check with your local LH reservations office.

Having flown on both United and Lufthansa recently, I would give my vote to Lufthansa. They offer
better food and drink at more frequent intervals. Also, little amenities are available on Lufthansa
that United gave up years ago. I have not flown Alitalia, so I cannot comment on them.

Lufthansa offer a lie flat (not completely flat) on SOME of their fleet, otherwise a very
uncomfortable business class seat - so it's a bit of a gamble. United offer a cradle seat with
fairly consistant service, Alitalia offer the same, but service is worse. Ideally, fly BA for
guarenteed flat bed and great service.

Depends what you are looking for. All of them would require at least one connection. AZ does not fly
out of SFO so you would have to connect through its gateways. Most likely either ORD, JFK or EWR.
Only LH offers "flat" seats with its new Business class. If you are after quality then LH would be
the best out of the three. You will have to connect either through FRA or MUC but those are nice
airports and the new LH J product is pretty solid. UA's product is a bit underwhelming compared to
its European counterparts. Comfort is acceptable but catering is somewhat lacking.
