Sydney to LA return in Premium Economy. The extra leg room was appreciated and came at a
reasonable premium over the economy fare. However, nothing really special about PE - you get
the seat and that is pretty much it. Even then, the seat cushion is hard for a sector this
long. Check in OK, meals pretty much standard economy. Video on demand but not as much of a
movie selection as some. Service average. The self service bar as noted by others is pretty
spare (on one leg it was soft drinks only as soon as dinner had been served) and contrary to
the promoted "swing by as soon as we hit cruise altitude", you can't because the FAs are using
it for preparation (and do a number of times through the flight). All pretty underwhelming.
Nothing actually went wrong or was bad but it isn't as good a premium economy as others and it
doesn't really live up to the promotion.

Sydney to Nadi return on V Australia Economy. The load factors for both sectors were very
light on new 777-300ER. Seat was quite comfortable even though the cushion was kind of thin
and hard. Quite limited choice on their IFE but loved its AVOD Interface as being very touch-
sensitive and easy-to-use. The food was served in pathetically small portion. flight
attendants friendly and helpful. Lots of room for improvements.

LAX-SYD-LAX in mid February 2010. Price was the cheapest I found for travel
dates. I've flown UA, Qantas, Air New Zealand and now V Australia. My order of
preference is Qantas, V Australia, ANZ, then UA. V Australia has very nice young
staff, food like any other airplane, in-flight entertainment similar to Qantas
A380 (larger screen than others) although I felt they could have offered more
movies to choose from. The main reason Qantas still ranks highest for me is the
number of bathrooms. V Australia's 777 doesn't have as many, so people were
lined up at various times waiting. Snack area is nothing more than a small
window with some bottles of water and chips/cookies, which I'm not complaining -
Qantas A380 is the only other flight that even offers this. The flight
attendants were nice, and on my way back, an FA remembered me from my flight
down - asked me what I'd like to drink and brought it to me immediately. FAs are
quite strict about you being in your seat when the seat buckle sign is on. Seat
assignments were changed on return flight because they were carrying a lot of
cargo and needed to rearrange seating to balance the plane, but the upside was
the plane was only half full so scored 3 seats in a row and could lay down.
Check-in at LAX was a little out of the ordinary with mood lighting and music,
but nice compared to previous check-ins. Check-in at SYD made me check my
overweight carry-on, which is the first time any of the airlines even weighed my
carry-on. Overhead bin for middle rows is not deep enough to store a 22" roller
bag wheels first so I had to turn sideways. Good thing the girl sitting next to
me didn't have much to stow. Headphones in economy were a bit cheap, so when we
landed in SYD, I borrowed a pair of the noise cancelling ones from Business to
use on my flight home - but I gave them back! They were much more comfortable.
All in all, I think they're trying hard and doing a good job.

Premium Economy |
Premium economy to LAX from Perth. Loved the Premium Economy service
domestically - fabulous staff. Internationally I was disappointed. Food same as
economy (and very average at that), seats uncomfortable. Bar only had snacks?
Contrary to the website, no self serve beer, wine, spirits. I can understand
people may take advantage, however, don't advertise it if you can't deliver.
Standard amenities pack - no little niceties that you get in business. On the
positive, seat pitch and width very good - makes for a more comfortable trip
than economy. Had to change flights as family tragedy while away. Exceptional
service - no fee for change. Would I fly Y+ again - no, not on this airline.
Would rather fly economy and save some $ for the trip (or fly business, money
permitting).

The crew were friendly, particularly towards my child, and the economy cabin and
seats seemed quite spacious. My only negative comments are regarding the lack of
children's entertainment packs, and slowness of taking away the empty meal trays
- they sat on our tables for well over an hour before being collected. The
vegetarian meals were not the best, but not the worst airline food I've ever
had. Overall the crew, aircraft and inflight entertainment are fabulous at a
cheaper fare than other airlines.

Planes new, cabin staff friendly, seats in economy relatively comfortable,
amenities good. Had a great trip to and from LAX at a reasonable price and able
to sleep on both legs. Only complaint was that the vegetarian option was awful!
Vegetable pattie and vegies for breakfast not a good option and other meals
tasteless. However cabin staff, noting meals weren't being eaten, offered
options.

MEL-LAX-SYD-MEL. $5600 business fare had me switch from Qantas ($13,800) for the
first time in 10 years. Planes fresh and new, crew young and learning. Bar lots
of fun on way over with other colleagues - decent French Champagne. Food poor
and AVOD excellent. Seats narrow but flat. Food better on return trip - Alaska
Airlines lounge at LAX adequate. Even the PJ's and V Australia shoulder bag
good.

MEL-LAX and LAX-BNE. We were originally flying BNE-LAX but missed plane and had
to get flight from Melbourne. V Australia staff understanding and only charged
$250 per person the change the flight to from Melbourne. The flight was
enjoyable with friendly, young staff, with the food being fairly good. On flight
from LAX to BNE my tv was not working and I had a flight attendent try and fix
it several times. When it was clear it would not work at all I was upgraded to
Premium Economy which was great. The food served to premium economy however is
the same as the economy food.

BNE-LAX. Arrived to find at check-in that our seat assignments had changed,
which disappointed our children who had windows seats. The cabin crew were
enthusiastic and young, but with that came inexperience and slow (and what
appeared to lazy) service. Slow in clearing trays. Food was disappointing and
tasteless, my daughter and wife had a frittata which made them feel sick. The
entertainment was good and seats, although hard, were wide. Due to weather in
Atlanta we missed our return trip from Los Angeles. V Australia were not
understanding in our predicament and wanted to charge an extra $2000 per person
to travel home. We got flights for $1200 on Air Pacific which are being claimed
on insurance. Requested insurance letter from V Australia, which we are still
waiting for after 2 and a half weeks. Very poor customer service after they take
your money.

Melbourne-Phuket Business class. Check in fast, club lounge (Malaysia Airlines
lounge) needs refit and better food service. B777 fantastic seating, food
service very good, selection of alcohol. Love the bar. Cabin crew young and very
helpful. The only poor thing about the flight was they do not cater for
children. 7 out of 10 for this flight. Phuket-Melbourne also in Business class
777 - after our great flight from Melbourne this flight was very disappointing.
The check in area at the airport was very hard to find, inexperienced check in
staff very slow and not very sure what they are doing. Lounge (Thai Airways) not
enough seating. On the plane not enough staff - rude young and inexperienced and
did not smile. Food and wine selection terrible. Selection of alcohol in the bar
poor. We could not understand what went wrong with such a good flight from
Melbourne? 3 out of 10 for this return flight.

LAX-SYD-LAX in Y class. Excellent cabin, wide seats, great IFE. Didnt find the
seats hard as some previous reviewers have complained. Food was good. Staff was
helpful and enthusiastic but inexperienced - very late, slow food service and
took ages to clear the trays. Check-in and boarding at LAX was totally chaotic.

LAX-SYD: Nearly 11 hours late getting into Sydney due to inadequate staffing at
front desk, so took off two hours late. Someone got sick enroute so had to stop
at Honolulu and then Fiji to change crews. The first crew was terrible with
service. Would not answer request calls for help. Could not find the time from
chatting in the galleys. We spend nearly 24 hours in that airplane, except for
the four hours in Fiji. Next time I fly Qantas or United. V Australia? Don't
make me laugh.
