Flew Nice-Vienna return by Austrian Arrows apparently operated by Tyrolean Airways. Paperless online check
in and seat reservation only possible 24 hours before the flight but worked OK, especially at Vienna. The
aircraft concerned were both elderly Fokker F100’s which were a little knocked about but clean. The seat
pitch was better than Easyjet and our seats up at the front of the plane gave us good views and were quiet.
The overhead lockers are small and the cabin baggage allowance of 8 kilos disappointing. Cabin staff were
OK if a little abrupt, food was a wafer or an apple plus a drink. Aircraft punctual.

LNZ-DUS in economy on fully packed Dash 8-400. Seating was most uncomfortable and it did not help that
the rather rude flight attendants kept on bumping into me. Tried working out who picked the interior colours
for this airline. The blue just does not go with the green seats and the yellow and red head rests. Service as
expected for a short flight so no complaints. Boarding in LNZ and disembarking at DUS via bus made this very
unpleasant trip last even longer. Believe you do not have any alternatives on this route which was reflected
in the astronomical air fare of over EUR 600. Will try to avoid Tyrolean's Dash-8's in the future. Flight was on
time but baggage took ages to arrive in DUS but assume direct result of being parked at the end of the
airport.

FRA-SZG return. Short flights both in Fokker 100s, great service - adjacent seats blocked off. Friendly and
efficient service. Although time was tight, served a lovely small meal on both legs which was far tastier and
filling than the LH offering on connecting flights! Planes parked a long way from terminal at FRA needing bus
transfers. My connection times at FRA were 40mins both ways, but no hassles and bags made it too. No lounge at SZG
but given generous refreshment voucher that can be redeemed at the airport.

Late night flight from Munich to Vienna on a Fokker 100, rear seats next to an engine can be a
little noisy. Crew a delight, serving a nice snack and drinks on 45-minute route. Arrival to
VIE very smooth, bus waiting at aircraft, bags unloaded quickly.

Leeds Bradford to Innsbruck. Everything about the flight okay, but the baggage allowance is
very mean - 18 kgs is terrible. Everyone on the flight is going skiing and most are taking
boots which are very heavy, not much room for other clothing!

Vienna - Copenhagen in July. It was small Embraer aircraft. Seating in 2x2 configuration. It
was 1.5hr flight. FA's were ok. Not much information given during the flight. But got the
ticket cheap so guess I got what I paid for. A light snack was served with water/sodas.

Lyon-Vienna. Free newspapers, after take-off meals and drinks were served. I
ordered tea, but there was none, so I ordered a coke. Do&Co food was excellent.
They also handed out warm rolls and a mint candy. It was a very pleasant flight,
but I didn't like the impolite crew and missed some more flight information from
the cockpit.

INN-EMA. Austrian Arrows charter flight operated by Tyrolean. Flying as it used
to be. Comfortable plane, hot meal with wine and metal cutlery. Friendly cabin
crew who took polaroid photographs of the children on board, and worked hard
throughout the flight. Both outbound and return flights on time and the F100
spotless both ways. Only a pity that the handling and car park arrangements at
East Midlands were truly shambolic.

Munich-Vienna-Munich, flights operated by Tryolean Airlines. Forward journey on
29 Nov on Fokker 70 at full capacity. This was the very last flight to Vienna
scheduled to depart at 9.30pm but was delayed till 10pm. Pilot explained that
they were delayed as the earlier flight into Munich departed late from Vienna
and that he missed the allocated departure time slot of 9.30pm to Vienna & was
now in queue for a later slot. It was a short flight of one hour. Only drinks
served in economy class. No food even though e-ticket stated that a snack
service would be provided. Service was very rushed with one FA serving economy
class passengers only. On the return leg on 6 Dec, it was a Canadair CL 600
Regional Jet seating 50, it was three quarters full and surprisingly they did
serve a snack of cold cut meats with potato salad & a dessert of sacher torte!
Very delicious for this short flight of 45 minutes which left bang on time at
3.30pm & arrived early at 4.15pm. Again a rushed service but if you are seated
in front of economy class, you get more time to finish your meal. Both planes
were small in size that can be quite claustrophobic. Also rather shaky due to
its small size if confronted by winds unlike larger planes where the shaky
motion is minimal or not felt.

I defend my comments. I never questioned their safety record or the attitude of
their crew. The trend to less service for the same price as a full service
airline is what I simply refuse to accept. I flew Tyrolean several times before
they were absorbed by AUA Group. The service was fantastic and the FAs were
friendly. What I don't understand is the justification for charging for drinks &
meals on some flights on not on others. If I'm thirsty what difference does it
make if my flight is 75 Minutes or 2 hours? Charging for soft drinks and meals
isn't going to get a company out of bankruptcy. Cutting back on service isn't
either. How does one get a company out of bankruptcy? Simple: offer good,
reliable, safe service at affordable prices. By the way the fare I paid was not
a bargain. Tyrolean was doing fine before AUA took over so who's fault could it
be now? The FA on my flight was friendly but she was obviously tired of having
to apologize to EVERY customer for charging them for a beverage or sandwich.
This shows how little regard the AUA group has for their front line employees.
They make bad decisions and expect the FAs to defend stupid policies. Since
AUA's take-over how can you tell if their AUA or Tyrolean employees? AUA has
even changed their name to Austrian Arrows. What moran thought of this? Summary:
Tyrolean WAS once one of the best regional airlines in Europe. When you booked a
Tyrolean flight you knew what to expect: very good, friendly, safe and reliable
service. Ever since AUA swallowed them it has become more or less the "unwanted"
step-child in the AUA group. Mr.Sorensen's attitude in his letter convinced me
my decision to avoid all AUA operated flights in the future won't be changed any
time soon.

I have flown with this company for years and the last thing I would wish for is
the bankruptcy and following unemployment of some of the friendliest frontline
employees I have come in contact with in my travels. True the frills have been
slighted of recent on shorter flights, but for a company to regain a financial
stability some cuts must be made. Obviously Mr. Danz (25 Jan message) is
more concerned about his peanuts and soft drink than a friendly smile and a safe
trip.

I flew on 25th January afternoon HEL-VIE on economy class and found the airline
very good value for money. The flight was operated by CRJ 200 aircraft and
flight time was 2h 40min. Helsinki-Vantaa airport is very comfortable so it was
very pleasant wait my flight there. During boarding there was good variety of
different newspapers available in finnish, german and english at the gate. The
aircraft had grey leather seats and I found them quite comfortable and legroom
was OK too. Overhead bins are extremely small so storage space is very limited
which makes this aircraft little uncomfortable. The flight departed on time and
soon after take-off hot meal was served. Excellent meal and very tasty! Also all
alcoholic and soft drinks were free. Service was very friendly and cabin crew
young and smiled a lot. Very professional and warm service! After the dinner
coffee and drinks were served again few times. Be aware that on shorter flights
meals and drinks aren't included like Vince Danz wrote earlier, which is called
Bistro service. So don't expect hot meals for shorter flights! Excellent
experience overall anyway, but maybe such a small regional jet is too little for
such a long flight.

I sent a letter to Vagn Sorensen, CEO of AUA about my displeasure with my flight
operated by Tyrolean. See comments in this section. I did get an answer from
him. It was anything but apolgetic. He defends this type of service and sees it
as the future for all airlines. AUA has lost me as a customer.

This was once voted Europe's Best Regional Airline. Well, ever since AUA tood
over this is simply flat out untrue. They've managed to turn this into a high
priced, full fare NO FRILLS airline. If you fly economy and expect a drink or
even a bag of nuts, well guess what you're nuts! It won't happen. Shame on AUA,
they're screwing the customers and dare call it innovative new service. I hope
the whole company goes bankrupt soon. I'll be the first one to applaud. See my
comments posted under Austrian's listing.
