Our flight to Istanbul had a 5 hour delay upon our arrival in Nairobi airport. Rescheduling
our connection to reach Paris, was a mess and we had to fight to obtain a better option with
Air France in order to avoid their suggestion to wait 5 more hours waiting in Istanbul. At
this time, no meals, drinks, hotel or other compensation was offered for the inconvenience and
we had to spend the night in this basic airport. Since the flight to Istanbul was later than
expected in the morning, our new itinerary to Paris was also missed. Once in Istanbul, we had
a lot of trouble at Turkish Airlines desk. They had hard time to reschedule another flight to
Paris, unable to print at once our boarding pass, the service was a mess. We had also had to
argue to make a free phone call to inform our friends in Paris of our late arrival (I was told
to buy a calling card myself)! The result of this worst flight experience : 10 hours late in
Paris, and our baggage lost upon arrival ! It was found 4 days later, when I was back home to
Canada. I learned that the baggage wasn't re-tagged in Istanbul.

I spent two weeks in Turkey and Eastern Europe traveling with Turkish Airlines. From our
initial exposure to the Turkish Airlines fleet and staff in Chicago, through our remaining
five flights in Turkey, Eastern Europe, and en route back to Chicago, we shared a poor
experience. The ticketing and reservations attendants, flight attendants, lost and found,
damaged baggage insurance agents, and supervisors were committed to poor customer service.
When our gate was changed last minute, and we raced across Ataturk airport to the adjusted
gate, we were ignored by the gate attendant while the plane sat at the jetway. She only
acknowledged us after ten minutes, and rejected our efforts to board stating that less than
fifteen minutes remained until take-off. Our pleas fell on deaf ears when explaining our
predicament to reservations supervisors in the main office, and we found ourselves stranded
without recourse in Istanbul without travel or hotel accommodations, which they insisted, "is
not their problem." We absorbed an immense expense for Turkish Airline's incompetence, and
lost nearly 2 days of our international travel in the process.

Helsinki-Jakarta return on B737 and A340 via IST and SIN - full flights all the way. We like
the A340 with good legroom plus AVOD is okay for the long flight. TK stands out with their
good food and large portions ex-Istanbul (DO & CO), but food ex-Singapore was a lot worse.
Crew friendly in a Turkish way. Excellent value.

IST to Chicago, two kids and my wife with me. Seats in row 3 excellent, with good leg room.
These are not flat bed seats, but angled lie-flat seats comfortable to sit on and sleep. The
service was excellent, staff welcoming. Some of them were not very fluent in English but were
able to cater to needs without any problem. The food came in one main course, midflight snack
and one light meal at the end of the flight. The main course was served with an advance menu
with passengers name written on the menu cards. I would recommend TK, especially the price we
got for our route was half of other carrier's business class.

Heathrow-Istanbul-Dushanbe Economy. Flight from LHR fine, fairly new Airbus. Arrived at
Istanbul with a couple of hours before departure to Dushanbe. As Star Alliance gold card
holder used Turkish lounge which is OK - plenty of seating but a very limited selection of
snacks. Flight to Dushanbe (A320) boarded on time - pretty busy. Cabin service started after
about 40 minutes into flight but after a slight bit of turbulence, stopped. Despite lack of
any further turbulence, cabin service remained suspended for next 2 hours! When it resumed it
seemed a bit chaotic. I have travelled with TK before and found them OK - possibly it's down
to the route and the crew. Dushanbe is serviced only twice a week by TK - so came back with
Air Baltic via Riga which was probably worse than TK.

LHR-IST night flight on new A321 in economy. Seats comfortable if not a little cramped and
each seat equiped with PTV. Good service for a 3.5 hour flight. Good food and drink but flight
attendants appeared stressed and could have been more friendly. Overall a good experience,
would fly with Turkish again. They are also often cheaper than easyjet on London-Istanbul and
offer a much better experience.

Delhi-Istanbul-Izmir-Bodrum-Istanbul. Flight from Delhi about 3/4 full, seating allocation no
problem, and service was attentive and polite. IFE could have been better, not just shared
screens. Flight to Izmir good, impressed that short-haul has food service. Flight back from
Bodrum was last minute, still good value for money, and they bumped me to an earlier flight at
my request, no charge. Luggage on time. The one thing is, boarding is a completely Turkish
experience, and patience is required.

Business class DXB-IST-ORD. VIP lounge in DXB large and well-stocked. Original aircraft
(737-800) was replaced by newer A321. Seats comfortable and well-spaced. Only bad thing was
they served breakfast as soon as we departed (3am), so the lights were annoying. Lounge at IST
very crowded, but we found places to sit. English abilities of staff was less than expected -
no one know what a band-aid was! Security check to board flight to Chicago was long and
repetitive, and there was no Business Class priority because we waited for the flight to be
called. They also forced my wife to use the women only line against my wishes, which we've
never experienced in UAE, Oman, Bahrain or Qatar. Flight to ORD was on A340. We were in seats
6A/B, which were a bit noisy from the galley directly behind us for parts of the flight. Do
not sit in Row 1, especially the middle seats, as there is a prep bar at the front of the
cabin, and it was awkward in terms of privacy for those passengers. Seats were comfy, but did
not recline flat. Cabin crew very friendly, though a little chaotic with service. I never got
a menu and had to ask a few times for our drinks. Food excellent - large variety, good
portions and tasty. Desserts were good. Because I purchased tickets in January with no
layovers in Turkey, we got fares on Expedia for $2300 each return and this gave us 60 kilos of
luggage each. It was well worth the money. I've flown Business class on Delta, American,
British Airways and Qatar - Qatar Airways was better. Overall, we were happy with the service.
Let's hope the return trip is as positive. They no longer have duty free shopping on board.

London - Istanbul, Istanbul - Izmir. Had a good experience on both flights. Seat pitch on A320
and 737 as good as Lufthansa etc. Food more and better than expected. Even had lunch on 45 min
flight to Izmir. Crew helpful and friendly. Captain gave good information. No complaints apart
from the fact that another passenger walked off with my bag! Fortunately they left it at the plane door.

Hamburg-Istanbul-Tel Aviv return. On the first leg some 12 hours delay because Istanbul
Airport was closed due to fog. We arrived in IST 5 hours late and had to wait for hours at IST
for our flight to Tel Aviv. IST Ataturk is a kind of nightmare when it comes to assisting
thousands of passengers travelling on delayed flights. -Seating, FAs and meals fit to an
average economy class standard. Except desserts which on all our Turkish Airlines flights were
above average standards. Smooth boarding of Turkish Airlines flights is hampered by a lot of
passengers carrying quite more than the usual one piece of hand baggage not exceeding 6kgs.
I've seen passengers carrying one big suitcase, one large dufflebag and a box with a brand new
microwave oven into the cabin. If you have just 30 or 40 passengers doing something like this
boarding gets really messy. Security disadvantage: as with every airline passengers on Turkish
Airlines flights are requested to fasten seat belts and put their backrests straight upright
before landing, but a lot of passengers do not care and no FA enforces this safety precaution.
So the plane lands with many backrests declined 30 degrees ore more. I used the customers
respond sheet in Turkish Airlines inflight magazine to criticize this - but never got an
answer.

BHX-IST-BOM-IST-BHX. Arriveed in Istanbul to find a further 4 hour delay on IST-BOM route. The
crew were unfriendly on BHX-IST route, and even ruder on IST-BOM route. The crew were more
interested in talking to each other than assisting passengers. Pressed the button 3 times for
a drink and 3 times, cabin crew came over and switched it off without asking me what I want
and walked away. Food poor. Return BOM-IST was disgusting. I had booked with my family and
ended up being seated 17 rows ahead of them on my own. Crew on the return journey were
shouting at passengers requesting services inflight and patronising everyone. IST-BHX was
pretty smooth, probably the most relieved leg of the journey.

Astana - Istanbul - Berlin TXL. Check-In in Astana friendly and fast, only problem is that the
airport is usually a mess, especially when other international flights leave at the same time.
No lounge available. Boarding very chaotic. Plane an old 737-800, seats are the same as in
economy class with the middle seat left free. The plane left at 4am, after reaching cruising
altitude, a warm breakfast was served. Due to the early departure time, most of the passengers
were sleeping, including me. After waking up at some point, I was asked if I wanted to have a
snack or a warm breakfast. Snack was okay, nothing more. Do&Co Austria is better then the
Turkish version. Flight attendants smiling but not everybody fluent in English. CIP lounge in
Istanbul is great, good food and nice drink selection. But very small rest rooms that were not
sufficient. Flight to Berlin very nice, plane change from 737-800 to A320 with nice (and
wide) business class seating and a very good breakfast. Overall impression okay though not
really Star Alliance standard. Would not really recommend it, next flight will be Austrian again.

Amsterdam to Astana via Istanbul and Almaty to Amsterdam via Istanbul. Due to lack of comfort
on the ground and onboard of the aircraft I will not fly Turkish Airlines again if I have
another choice. -Turkish Airlines does not have a priority boarding system for Business
passengers. In Almaty there is no Business lounge available. Turkish Airlines uses small
Boeing 737-800 planes on these destinations. Seats (20 in total) in Business are equal to
seats in Economy class which means no seat comfort at all. Only difference is that in the
Business the middle seats are kept free. Onboard there is no individual audio system
available. This is rather anoying too especially on the relative long flights from Istanbul to
Astana (5 hrs) and from Almaty to Istanbul (5.5 hrs).
