We flew with Manchester to Sanford. We found the flight to be comfortable, with friendly cabin crew.
The food was of a good standard and on our return flight my husband had a seat which had plenty of
legroom and reclined with no-one sat behind him. We paid no extra for this seat just requested at
the desk in Sanford if a seat was available.

Flight from Dalaman Turkey - LGW. Seat pitch is abysmal for a 4 hour flight. Inflight service was
atrocious. Cabin crew more interested in chatting to each other than attending to the passenger
needs. Cabin crew sold drinks and snacks to passengers before serving prepaid meal to other
passengers. This meant a 2 hour wait before prepaid meal was served. Cheap flights are never cheap –
give me BA any day.

Recent Florida trip. Incredibly cramped seating, both in seat width and pitch. In-flight
entertainment system disfunctional in various seats of our 10 strong party on both flights.
Insufficient pillows loaded on return flight. Insufficient childrens packs availabale on both
flights. All extras, standard on other flights, require payment on Thomas Cook. We all agree we will
never fly with Thomas Cook again.

Glasgow-Las Palmas-Glasgow as part of a pacakge holiday. Flights 4.5 hours long, Bboeing 757.
Biggest problem was the seat pitch. At 6/1 knees against seat in front; thankfully the person in
front on both flights didn't recline their seat! No extra leg room seats available but have noted
the cost of these has risen. Otherwise flights on time & without problems. Usual hard sell of
products on board except on the return flight cabin crew missed out a whole section of the plane for
duty-free! Would try to avoid in future simply in view of leg room issue.

Manchester to Puerto Plata having paid for use of the "Premium" cabin and its associated benefits.
Before take-off, access to the executive lounge was denied to all passengers and £10 compensation
offered despite access to the lounge costing £20. A dedicated "Premium" check-in desk was promised
at Manchester Airport, the queue for this was occupied by all passengers and check-in took over an
hour. Legroom and choice of entertainment were good but service received from cabin crew was
atrocious, the "unlimited" free drinks were served once during the eight hour flight.

3 April 2008 Customer Trip Rating :
Ridiculous seat pitch. Drinks very expensive. Delayed in Tenerife Airport - plane should have taken
off at 3.45 and it eventually departed at 10.40 due to something to do with radar breaking down and
another part had to be flown out to Glasgow and then fitted. Had to make alternative arrangements
for onward travel once we reached Glasgow as it was 3.00am by the time we reached Scotland. Medical
seats requested for both myself and husband before outward journey but only husband was allocated
one. We were assured by ground staff they would see we had medical seats on return flight but again
only my husband allocated one. Meal disgusting - even by aircraft standards.

Gatwick-Athens 757-200. Similar comments to most of those listed, knees hard up against seat in
front. Not enough room to put the table down. Not enough room to open the A4 size inflight
magazine flat, when holding the magazine vertically it was too close for the eyes to focus. Cabin
crew advice to keep moving a joke, jammed in too tight to move. Food was mediocre. Inconsiderate
fellow passengers who recline their seat to restrict leg room even further. Return trip on new
Thomsonfly 737-800, about 3 inches more legroom, nice aeroplane.

Manchester-Funchal return - have rated this very poor as the leg room on this plane was terrible -
so bad that we were dreading the flight back and will never use Thomas Cook again. I am only 1.7m
but found it extremely cramped, as did everyone around me. Looking at the reviews on here this
seems to be the main complaint from everyone and I think its about time that Thomas Cook took these
comments seriously. The flights were not cheap and it is ridiculous to have to pay extra to stand
any chance of being comfortable.

Manchester-Hurgahda. A330 ageing aircraft flying on mytravel flight numbers but in Thomas Cook
livery and with a mixed crew - half MyTravel and half Thomas Cook. We travelled in Premiere cabin
(first seven rows) and felt sorry for the people in rows 8 to 40 odd as they are so cramped it must
have been a nightmare on this 5.5 hour flight. Food was ok. Thomas Cook are removing 31 seats from
the A330 fleet from 1st May - let's hope this improves the comfort. Or alternatively take my advice
and only fly Thomas Cook with extra leg room seats on any flight over 2 hours.

26 March 2008 Customer Trip Rating :
Barbados - Gatwick 19th March 2008. We thought flight out was bad, but the flight back was even
more horrendous. As in other comments, we found the seats totally inadequate for an 8 hour flight -
too narrow, too cramped and not enough leg room. With the staff rushing up and down the aisles and
not caring if they bumped into passengers it was impossible to relax. The initial drinks run was
all hard sell and we were told that tea coffee and juice would be served with the meal. The meal
itself was totally dry - overheated main course with a dry roll and a dry muffin for sweet. The
drinks never materialised as there was a problem with a passenger and some turbulence. However, as
soon as the problems were sorted out the duty free run was done, which took so long that there was
no time left to serve drinks . The only way to get a drink was to walk the full length of the plane
and ask for one. Disgraceful that they put the duty free run as more important than passengers'
comfort and well being. Breakfast was equally inedible and we couldn't wait to get off the plane.
We will never knowingly travel with Thomas Cook Airlines again - or My Travel as the staff were in
their uniforms. They don't even deserve 1 star for the journey.

26 March 2008 Customer Trip Rating :
Just returned on from Sharm el Sheikh and was appalled at the legroom. My husband is 6ft 2 ins and
couldn't even fit his knees up against the seat in front. He had to use my side of the space also.
We were allocated the rear seat on the aircraft which somehow seemed to have less room than the
others. How they dare display the safety features and say in the brace position place your hands
behind your head and if possible lean on the seat in front is a joke as there is only inches between
your head and the front seat. It was impossible to read a book or to eat. As much as I love
travelling I refuse ever to fly with this airline again. I have paid less to travel long haul to
Dubai with Qatar which included fabulous service, drinks and food which are included and a seat that
is reclinable, comfortable and enjoyable.

LGW-DLM 13th March, return 19th March. Both flights on time and staff friendly. That was the good
bit. The legroom on this airline is beyond bad. It must have been 27 inches. I am 6 foot 2 and my
knees were pressing into the seat in front for the entire 3 hours 45 mins of the flight. I cannot
believe that in this day and age airlines are allowed to get away with this. And they have the
audacity to suggest exercises in their magazine to reduce the chances of suffering from DVT. Maybe
if you are under 4 ft tall! The only way to reduce the chance of DVT on this airline would be to not
get on in the first place ! I could understand if the cost was GBP50 each, but it's the same price
as GB Airways was, and they gave 31 inches. I'm flying out on Easyjet next month who have now taken
over GB Airways. I'm hoping I won't suffer the same experience. If I do, I might in future
consider taking the stop in IST and going scheduled on Turkish out of LHR. At least they know how to
treat their customers.

LGW-Larnaca late Oct '07. Scheduled to depart 1000, eventually took off at c.1845. Had booked this
flight so as to arrive at hotel at sensible hour with a young child (and it certainly was not a
cheap ticket). In fact arrived at hotel some time after 3.00am. Flight itself most uncomfortable
I've ever experienced with very narrow seats and very short seat pitch - basically couldn't move for
4+hrs! Don't recall much about the service/selling as I've done my best to forget the experience. On
return to UK my experience with Thos Cook Airlines so-called "Customer Relations" Dept was similar.
I asked for a letter from them detailing the delay to my flight to see if I could claim on my travel
insurance; after much chasing and a number of weeks later they sent me a letter detailing the long
delay on my flight to Las Palmas [sic]; one gets the impression that Thos Cook Airlines "Customer
Relations" Dept writes many such letters. As a matter of principle I will never fly this airline again.

Birmingham to Tenerife return. Booked for and paid £50 each for extra legroom seats. Received no
confirmation or paperwork for this payment. Given row 11 on outward journey which was okay, but
despite having paid for it was allocated row 1 on return. Other aspects of flight good, and really I
suppose allocation of seats is more down to ground staff, but admin stinks.

Manchester to Jamaica A330 for 10 hours in the most cramped seats I have ever had the misfortune to
encounter. I could not even use the armrest satisfactorily due to the TV buttons being situated in
the first 6 inches, because of altering the settings of my neighbouring passengers TV channels. The
return flight 2 weeks later was equally as bad but thankfully one hour shorter in duration. If you
are going on an Ocean Village cruise, then beware Thomas Cook flights from Manchester.

Thomas Cook charter flight Gatwick / Montego Bay return to join a Princess Cruises ship Feb 2008.
Terrible experience. Extreme discomfort due to narrow seats and no leg room. 3.5 hour delay
outbound. Return flight was overnight but no chance to sleep as they kept us awake with
announcements (duty free, etc) and didn't turn out lights until 5 hours into the flight. Cabin Crew
didn't really seem to care. Just one drinks service for 8 hour flight. No bottled water available.
Would not recommend this outfit at all.

Manchester to Arrecife. The legroom was 26inches and I couldn't skew sideways to relieve the aching
knees because the seat width is disgraceful. We've flown XL before and thought things couldn't get
any worse? The staff were constantly trying to sell, sell, sell. Our seats were 39A/B/C which are
against the toilet bulkhead - so no recline and the temperature was far too hot. All in all it was a
disgraceful experience which we will not be using again.

Stansted - Paphos return, A320 both ways. Leather seats, legroom adequate but after 4.5 hours
getting tiresome. Obviously MyTravel aircraft as all the safety cards had their logo. Cabin staff
friendly but it's a hard sell all the way. Meals usual rubber. Take your own sandwiches. Drinks
round sparse. Toilet queue seemed to last all the flight. Buy a bottle of water in PFO cafe as it is
only 1 euro - Thos Cook Airlines charge £1.50 - rip off especially as their inflight magazine
stesses the importance of drinking water!). Not bad for the price as it was a late deal but why do
airlines charge for a late booking - within 36 hours - when you are doing them a favour taking up
empty seats.

19 February 2008 Customer Trip Rating :
My advice to anyone thinking of travelling on the Thomas Cook Airbus is do not bother! About 200 of
us just travelled from Manchester to Barbados to join a P&O cruise ship. The journey was horrendous
not only was the plane delayed by 5 hours but the seats were tiny. They have crammed as many seats
as possible on to the plane and everyone complained about how narrow they were. It did not matter
whether you had small are large hips you still had to squeeze yourself into them. There was no
room to move and it was practically impossible to eat a meal without elbowing the person next to
you. There was hardly any leg room, and people had to swop seats to accommodate those who were
tall. The air stewards said that they had been telling Thomas Cook about the problems for over a
year and that from March 2008 they were taking out four rows and two seats on each row of three. I
would still not travel with them, it was the worse flight I have ever experienced and I have been
flying for 18 years.

17 February 2008 Customer Trip Rating :
Manchester - Tenerife route and will never use them again. The seat pitch and comfort on their
757-200 was dreadful. I am not quite 6' feet tall but I spent the whole flight (4+ hours) with my
knees jammed against the frame of the seat in front. It was the most uncomfortable flight I have
ever experienced. When booking I was asked if I wanted to sit next to my wife (who else they
thought I would like to sit next to I have no idea), in which case, sir, that will be extra. Would
you like a 'meal'? In which case, sir, that will be extra. Would you like to actually pack some
clothes in you suitcase (i.e. 20 kg luggage allowance)? In which case, sir, that will be extra.
The meals were poor value, with only a single cup of tea or coffee. In summary, a very poor airline
- avoid Thomas Cook airline like the plague.

Manchester to Orlando December 2007. Only after full payment received did Thomas Cook tell us that
flight was being diverted to Gatwick to pick up passengers. This was on both legs of the journey
Added extra 3 hours to flight each way and because we didn't get off plane it was still called a
direct flight and was still advertised as such the day before we travelled. Watch this if you get a
revised arrival time. The flight was terrible - cramped seating, terrible food, reading lights for
most of the seats not working, staff constantly trying to sell you stuff.

12 February 2008 Customer Trip Rating :
We flew to and from Banjul from Gatwick in January 2008. The outward 6-hour flight flew according to
schedule but we have never experienced such cramped conditions before (and we are 'frequent
flyers'!). Our friends are quite short but they felt 'trapped' in their seats - we are a bit taller
and thus the pitch of the seats was such that our knees were forced against the metal of the the
seats in front, which, when reclined, forced us to sit 'sideways' and the clearance between our
faces and the seat-back in from was just 5 cm. and we also finished up, literally, with bruised
knees due to the pressure. Of course the tray tables couldn't then lower fully so that the virtually
inedible meal kept slipping off them. The windows didn't align properly with the seats (suggesting
extra seats had been squeezed in) and my window on the ageing and tatty B757 was fogged up and
useless for the whole flight. The crew ran out of bottled drinking water after 30 minutes and two of
the four toilets were u/s. On the return flight we had the same seats in the same aircraft (so
obviously the same problems) and the flight was over an hour late leaving Banjul due to
'administrative problems'. Thomas Cook Airlines, you have just lost four potential good customers!

LGW to Cancun return. Outward trip was pretty bad. Tiny seats with 30 inch pitch meant 11 hours in a
cramped sitting position. No inflight entertainment (they rebooted 3 times) meant most people stared
at the skymap, willing the plane forwards to Mexico. Airbus A330-200 looked old and tired. Ran out
of tea and coffee halfway through and no water offered. Staff were excellent though, couldn't fault
their efforts to keep everyone happy. Return journey not much better. Seats again just too small for
long haul. No inflight entertainment for some Pax which was shocking really. Ours worked but only
half the channels. Crew were flat out and you felt bad for asking them to do anything for you. Seats
wouldn't recline and therefore sleep was minimal. Pilot kept us well-informed of route and gave us
accurate info on flight times and ETA etc which was appreciated but overall a poor service from this
airline. Our friends flew to Cancun with Thomsonfly and First Choice and had more legroom and better
food. Should have booked with them instead.

Manchester-Toronto-Glasgow on the 757 booked through Canadian Affair. Our original outbound flight
from Glasgow was cancelled and we ended up going through Manchester, which was a hassle. The
cancellation was shockingly handled, with no compensation or even meal vouchers offered when we had
4 hours to wait till we could check in from when our flight arrived from Glasgow. The check-in was
a shambles at best-the agents stood at the desks until exactly 3 hours before departure chatting
when there was 180 off people waiting to check in and they could have easily opened up 10 minutes
earlier. The flight itself was 1 hour late when we were on board because of a baggage issue -
(which wasnt Thomas Cook's fault). The crew were very efficient and friendly, offering a good
service throughout the flight, the food was good and the IFE was decent. The return flight was
another shambles at Check-in. The cabin lights were off for maybe 30 minutes at best, with the rest
of the time a very tacky salesman routine going on from a crew who clearly didnt want to do it but
had to. Baggage was very quick and immigration quick because we were first off the plane. I would
fly on them again, if they got a decent handling agent in Canada. Overall, they offer a very good
product on the 757, with great legroom, a comfortable (a bit narrow) leather seat. The price was
great with the extra legroom both ways - less than £350 return each.

Pafos-Gatwick return. Very old 757s in both directions. I'm only 5'5" and even I found the seats
tiny! On return, was seated in row 40 so couldn't even recline seat. On the outbound journey,
toilets at the front of the plane were out of order from the outset. Then 1.5 hours out of London,
both rear toilets broke so had to divert to Munich. Not impressed with 2 hour delay. FAs in both
directions were pleasant but constantly trying to sell stuff. On a 4-hour trip, and the cheap
tickets, I would fly them again, but not for any more than a 4-hour journey.

22 January 2008 Customer Trip Rating :
Booked with Thomas Cook as they were the only airline flying from Birmingham to Fuerteventura at the
date/time we wanted. We will never fly them again. At 6ft I am usually fine with the seat pitch in
low cost carriers such as Easyjet and Ryanair, but not with the seats we had on the Thomas Cook 757
used on this route. To add the nightmare we were seated for both flights in 40A/B, the back row, so
the seats would not recline. So four hours with your knees touching the seat in front. Lovely! The
crew were all personable and friendly and I have no complaint about them - but they are obliged to
constantly sell stuff - snacks, headsets, drinks, duty free gifts - anything to make money. I'm just
glad we didn't pay £6.50 for a miserable little boxed meal. How they fit three courses into such as
small box is a miracle. I'm sure our £3.49 meal deal from Boots in the airport was more filling.
What I wonder is if Easyjet and Ryanair can offer better leg room, provide less sales hassle and
still offer cheaper fares - why can't the likes of Thomas Cook. If we go back to the Canary Islands
we shall certainly be looking for scheduled airline options. It will be worth it to pay a bit more
to avoid being a sardine!

Manchester to Marsa Alam return. Annoying people in front on way out and back showed distinct lack
of consideration as to passenger etiquette - reclining seat whilst trying to eat from tray and
shoving their shoes and coats under the seat thereby further compromising what limited foot space
there was for those behind. Poor choice of in flight movies and TV programmes. Having seen in flight
food was glad we had self catered.

London Gatwick to Cancun Mexico return. As a long haul operator they are abysmal and I would never
use them again for a flight of more than 4 hours. Seats were incredibly small with very little leg
room and reclining your seat meant major problems for the person sitting behind (see other comments
on this board). Worst of all was the catering - it was very poor which on a 10 hour flight is a
danger to passenger safety. We had a full English breakfast at Garfunkels at Gatwick before
boarding the plane, which we thought would take care of any small airline meals. There was 1 drinks
service where drinks were offered for sale at high prices. You received 1 miniscule cardboard cup
of tea or coffee with lunch and the same with afternoon tea. No other drinks were offered. On the
return journey we paid for seats with more leg room and were allocated row 8. Condensation from the
air conditioning dripped on us, and we had the queue for the toilets. One toilet was out of action
so there were loads of people waiting on our side. We received exactly the same terrible meal
service. The plane both ways was A330 Airbus felt decidedly elderly.

Hurghada to Gatwick in Boeing 757-200. It was a dreadful experience due to the seat pitch, which I
think was around 31 inches and insufficient for my 6 foot height. They provided one cup of tea if
you had ordered a meal. The steward poured me one and half inches of tea into a Kenco paper cup and
seemed miffed when I asked for a full cup. No further offers of tea during the flight, but I could
have asked and paid I suppose. One family with children had failed to book a meal, although I think
their travel agent had failed to do this for them. The cabin crew refused to provide them with
anything. Staff just want to flog you stuff. The inflight videos were good, but the second one kept
jumping and was unwatchable.

London to Cancun and I have to say that so far it has been my worst flight ever! There wasn't enough

1 January 2008 Customer Trip Rating :
My partner and I flew with Thomas Cook Airlines from Gatwick to Barbados on an A330. We had pre
booked our seats the previous evening and were allocated row 8A/B. We thought we were lucky getting
the extra leg room beside the exit doors. My partner is over 6' 2" tall and found out very quickly
that seat 8a is far from ideal for someone this height - there is a cover at the door to prevent
anyone stretching out. It is also extremely cold as you are next the door. The TV is somewhat
difficult to get at along with the table which is in the arm of the seat, for when food arrives.
During takeoff the air con leaked all over the two of us and the air crew explained that it always
done this. This being the case why were we not informed prior to being soaked. Now if this was not a
reasonably bad start to an eight hour flight it was not long until we discovered that the queue to
the toilets formed on top of our feet and the impromptu gym class for all those afraid of deep vein
whatever it is. On our return flight you can imagine our delight to find that we were in the same
seats. This time we decided to swap and my partner tried to sit in the middle seat. This was not to
be any easier as he had to slide into the seat it was so narrow. The seats were also lacking in
padding and we suffered from the most severe cases of numb bums known to man. Approx 4hrs into the
flight the lights were dimmed for sleep and I tried to recline my seat. I was verbally abused by a
male passenger behind me who pushed my seat so hard it hit me forcibly in the back causing my neck
to jar. This was reported to the cabin staff who stated that it was almost impossible for them to do
anything except move myself and my partner to the rear of the plane. All the above problems
persisted during the return flight only this time an added problem of no TV for the first 4 hrs of
the flight the explanation given that the system was working in the forward premium cabin and they
did not want to reboot in case it failed to work again. So a small majority wins again. Food was
good and service was A1. Overall plane is made for a small minority of vertically challenged size
zero people of which myself and my partner are not and we will not be flying with this airline ever
again. And for those of you out there who are a normal size do not even think of booking with this airline.

We were flying on a charter flight (Airbus with a 3x3x3 seating ) from Gatwick to New Orleans and
returning via Barbados. I have to say it was much better than I anticipated. I made sure we got to
check in fairly early and obtained two opposite aisle seats. The seats were tight, but not
particularly uncomfortable so long as the person in front kept their seat up and I stretched by legs
from time to time. Complementary drinks were provided, as was a free (Metro) newspaper. The films
were not particularly classics. Service efficient and food okay. Having two hot meals was an
unexpected bonus for an economy flight. In fact the flight left exactly on time and arrived nearly
an hour ahead of schedule, tempered by the fact we had to wait twenty minutes before we were allowed
off the plane as they weren’t expecting us! The return flight was even better as regards comfort as
no one sat in the other two seats in the row. We were delayed for four hours but as we stayed on the
ship until a departure time was known this was perfectly acceptable. I would be happy to fly with
Thomas Cook long haul again.

Just returned from Montego Bay after a Princess cruise which use Thomas Cook Airline as their
carrier. The flight was 3hrs late reaching our outbound destination and 1 hr 15 mins on the return
leg. This has to be the worst airline I have ever flown with. The seats and aisles are so narrow it
is difficult to get comfortable, I felt sorry for the stewards who have to work the aisles. My
headrest was only attached at one end and the reading light did not work on the return leg, which
was overnight. The drinks were complimentary, but the food pretty disgusting both ways.No wonder
Princess kept the name of the airline quiet until the last minute. Most people were disgruntled
with the flight, but were of the opinion " is it worth complaining". I will definitely make sure I
never have anything to do with Thomas Cook again

Montego Bay to Gatwick . This flight was not our choice but that of the cruise company Princess, it
was awful, narrow seats, close proximity of the row in front of you, minimum legroom, the 3x3x3 format
across the plane. Aisles so narrow that people with those seats were constantly knocked by other
trying to stretch their legs or by the trolleys. The food was poor quality with breakfast in a bag
almost thrown at you. Cleanliness of toilets was poor. Entertainment was poor.

Varadero Cuba to Manchester. Our seats 28A / 28B were in front of a storage compartment with no chance
to recline. When the people in front reclined their seats the tv screen was almost touching my face.
The legroom was the tightest I have ever known. The crew attitude seemed to deteriorate the longer the
flight went on with the bags containing the hot breakfast literally thrown at you. The outward flight
was more enjoyable as the cabin crew were working hard but the problems with the legroom were still
there. I will mark them with 2 stars for the captain of the return flight who thankfully managed to
cut 45 minutes off the flight time.
