LHR-BKK Economy. Good cABIN crew, good food and excellent service but the inflight video is
just appalling - no seat back screens! BKK-LHR Economy, comments as outward flight except that
we had the most useless bunch of cabin staff I have ever seen on a Thai flight. Slow service,
no water brought round at regular intervals etc - in short no interest in doing their job at
all. I would not use Thai again.

LHR-BKK-SGN return in First. Outward journey good, although let down by the lack of a decent
lounge in LHR and 40 minutes waiting in a holding pen at the gate that didn't have enough
seats for all the passengers. The food was good; cabin crew attentive; and the seat (in 1x1 or
1x2x1 layout) offered lie flat comfort. At BKK, I was whisked to immigration on a cart which
was a pity as I should have been whisked to the lounge for my onward connection. I had to go
via the transit check in where the first class desk, although staffed, did not seem to be
processing anyone. The first class lounge was OK although range of food was limited. The
onward flight to Saigon in Business Class was uneventful. The return journey was less good. At
check in they did not want to through check my bags onto a BMI flight at LHR - despite being
on the same ticket. I had to argue a bit to get this done - after being told it was not
possible it suddenly became possible. On boarding the aircraft (an hour or so late) it turned
out to have been swapped for an old 747 with 2x2 or 2x2x2 config seats. These were
uncomfortable and didn't have on demand entertainment. The privacy was zero as you had a
seatmate. These seats are sold at business class prices from Scandinavia, yet were offered at
first class fares on the LHR route and not a hint of an apology. The service was similarly
business class - cabin temperature set to freezing and lights turned off to encourage us to
sleep even though it was a daytime flight. Cabin crew left us with a bottle of water and
vanished. The water was supposed to last - they had only loaded one bottle per passenger.

On my most recent trip from New Zealand to the UK via Bangkok, I was pretty disappointed that
on the Bangkok-London leg, they use ancient 747-400s that don't have screens in the back of
each seat. Instead, you get some grainy image projected on a bulkhead which can be about 20m
away. Are Thai Airways squeezing the last mileage out of their 747 fleet whilst they save up
for some new Airbus A380s. Pretty disappointing from an airline amongst the 'best'.

MEL-BKK return. Older aircraft on the first leg. The catering was sub-standard with little
choice. Service is good. 2x3x2 seat layout. Lounges at Bangkok okay. Check in at BKK is very
good. Return flight better with a newer aircraft. Catering was considerably improved. Service
a bit slow. Internal flights business class are a disappointment. Food is poor, no wine or
beer service. Flight attendants allow economy passengers to storm through business class to
get off before business passengers.

SYD-BKK on 777. Comfortable seat with lots of room, nice IFE (crashed once). Nice and
efficient crew (except drink service for lunch was a bit chaotic). Food tasty and red wine
quite good for economy.

HKG-BKK-BGL-BKK-CGK. Aircraft running these sectors were particularly old, with Business
Class seating sub-standard. Limited food options and generally just average quality. Very
limited wine selection. Very pleasant polite and attentive staff on-board. Check-in staff in
Bangkok equally good, elsewhere just average.

LHR-BKK-LHR first class. The fare offered in first for my dates of travel seemed a very good
deal. I have travelled with Thai a lot over the years and this was a very big let down. The
outward leg was ok, with nice food and a good service, but nothing special. In fact it was
very ordinary. The check in staff at the 1st class check in (SAS serviced) are a very poor
advertisement for the airline. One of them seemed more interested texting on her mobile than
serving her customers. The return journey started nicely with a beautiful first class lounge
and a foot massage at the Thai spa. The food at the lounge was excellent as was the Thai
Airways staff. In fact staff in the lounge outshone by far the staff in the air on the return
journey. This cabin staff displayed total disinterest in what they were doing. The service
was rushed, there were no hot towels given out before take off or landing. I Was not referred
to by name (I was on the outward journey). The duvet was dirty and faded and the food
selection for a night flight did not take that very fact into account. Unlike other carriers
on this route in this class, a simple quick light meal was not offered. The dessert selection
was also very poor, as was the breakfast. As with most airlines bottled water is left beside
the passenger for consumption during the night. The cabin attendant left me a bottle of water
with the instruction not to lose it as it was needed to refill from a bigger bottle. What I
asked. I could not believe what I had just heard. The small bottle of water that was given to
me was not sealed, it had already been opened. When I asked the cabin attendant for a sealed
bottle of water it appeared a major inconvenience. The amenity kit offered by Thai is
disgraceful. It is a very cheap kit that is an insult. Dom perignon on one hand and cheap eye
shades on the other? I have travelled 2 other airlines on this route also in first class in
the last year. Thai comes in a poor third. I imagine the service might have been better in
business class for half the price.

LHR-BKK-LHR. Both of these flights were of the same very good standard. Particularly
impressive were quality of dinner and wines served during the flights. The flight attendants
could not have been more helpful and wine top ups were happily offered. Also impressive was
the fast-track immigration clearance in Bangkok no queue, which saved the usual 15/20 minute
wait. IFE offered a good selection of films and music. Both flights were in upperdeck. I had
the seat by the window which has the extra storage cupboard to keep bag etc accessible without
cluttering your seat area but it is quite awkward climbing over your neighbour to get out for
the toilets during the flight. The downside of the Thai 747's has been well covered by others
and that is the age and comfort of the seat. In both flights mine was a little torn but most
importantly the seats are hard and uncomfortable. The courtesy toilet bag did not have any
moisturiser which was surprising and was generally below average standard

BKK-FRA in business class. Check-in efficient. Separate security check for premium passengers
was nice. Lounge nice but a bit full and I did not really knew which lounge to choose as they
have so many. Nicely decorated with many different part for different moods. The complementary
30 minutes head/shoulder massage was amazing. Free wi-fi : a bit slow. Priority boarding was
efficient. Seat was in upper deck. Efficient and friendly crew did there best to make us
comfortable. Meal was nothing special. Wines good. Seat was comfortable and even slept for 6
hours. Toilets clean during the flight. AVOD was good. Priority bags came off first. Overall a
very smooth journey - would not give them 5 star but 4.5 as it was not perfect.

LHR-BKK-MNL return Economy. On-Time arrivals and departures on all flights. The 747 had an old
interior with poor to non-existent IFE as mentioned on other posts, but the seats were
comfortable and better than some of the newer aircraft. Good food and drinks service but the
flights were full. The short-haul legs were fine also. Need to take a good book to make up for
the lack of decent IFE.

LHR-BKK Return flight was good. Regular drinks service but on a 747 there is no seat back tv
and poor quality films were shown. FAs were good on both ways and flight attendants gave all females orchids.

BKK - LHR Check-in was quick and efficient. Being 1 day before Christmas, the flight was not
full so there was lots of space for people to spread out. The cabin crew ranged from very
friendly and warm to one or two who were slightly surly and going through the motions although
all were efficient. The food was good and drinks were plentiful. IFE is a shocker as many have
noted here. It seems incredible that THAI steadfastly refuses to upgrade its IFE on the 747
routes. It wouldn't be so bad if they made more of an effort with reading material but that's
pretty lame too - Wall Street Journal and Bangkok Post seemed to be about all that was on offer.
