New York JKF-TAA. Scheduled to depart 6.25 am, did not depart till 8.15 am. No announcements or apologies made at the terminal or on the flight. I was charged $175.00 for extra luggage fee for a fishing pole that weighed less than 20 pounds. The agent refused to allow me to pay for the extra charge with my LifeMiles (mileage points).

LAX to Roatan Honduras. 3 checked bags at no charge. Reasonable ticket price, on time, planes clean, roomy and new. We even received a hot meal and snacks for no charge. We will definitely fly them again.

Late, late, late! I have a multi-leg trip and 2 of the 3 flights so far have been late. The flight cheered when we landed on time in Nicaragua - I asked why, because they are always late! not delayed - late! 4 hours on the flight from Honduras (ended up getting in at am) to Guatemala, and 1.5HRS (so far) on the flight from Nicaragua to Costa Rica.

Toronto to Costa Rica, we had one stop over in El Salvador then on to Costa Rica. The crew could not have been better. We had a nice hot meal, a cold drink or a non alcohol beverage if you wanted. We had a short 1 hr flight from El Salvador to Costa Rica and I still received a snack and beverage.

The airline decided to stop flying out of Roatan, Honduras at 11am and instead to fly at 5pm. The fact that this would make them miss all their own connections did not seem to matter. They didn't even call me directly, but instead got the online travel agency to do so. They offered a solution, I could fly back to Toronto 2 days before my scheduled date or 2 days after. In either case my trip would now take me through 4 countries and 2 days. They won't cover my hotel costs on the overnight connection either. Needless to say after 4 hrs on the phone, they miraculously found a flight that went from Roatan to Houston to Toronto all in the same day and only a day later than I planned to return initially. The reason they didn't want to offer me that flight to begin with is that the flight was not with TACA. This is an awful airline as far as customer service is concerned.

LIMA-SALVADOR-GUATEMALA - Economy. Extremely poor check in service. 3 hrs queue, have to rush to the gate. Uncomfortable trip, no space for legs, very poor quality of food. Poor information given during flight in the delay, connection lost in Salvador, resulting in a 4 hrs late departure with next flight, and it is supposed to be a hub! Poor service of cabin crew (they forgot to give headphones to an entire row).

San Josť, Costa Rica to Lima, Peru. The check-in was slow, but staff friendly and helpful. The flight was on time and airplane was clean. We had lots of legroom, a hot meal (choice of beef or chicken). Staff onboard spoke English and was friendly and chatty.

Having paid $600 for a flight I expected more. The food was the worst I’ve seen. Just one option on an evening service : chicken chow mein (unfortunate for a vegetarian). On a flight between Latin America & New York City. The staff seemed apologetic & kindly brought a glass of red wine from the front deck as compensation (they didn’t carry wine in coach).

Guatemala City to Los Angeles through El Salvador. I took the connecting flight that left early in the morning so that I ca be back in LA by early afternoon. I get into El Salvador and wait in line for 1 hour to check what gate I need to go to because I can't see it on the monitor and after waiting as long as I did, I was very casually told my flight has been cancelled and next flight will be 12 hours later. They asked me for 3 different telephone numbers and an emergency contact but no one in this airline thinks to use one of these numbers to say the flight is cancelled. Now I am in el Salvador with nothing to do when I could have at least taken the night flight from Guatemala and worked an extra day. I know that some of Taca's employees are frustrated but they need their jobs so they can't complain. I will never fly TACA if there are other carriers available.

LIM-CUZ-LIM on TACA in coach class. Making the reservations on the TACA web site was easy, with the only difficulty being getting our United FF # listed and I had to telephone TACA to do that. The flight to Cusco was only 15 minutes late and pleasant with soft drinks and a tasty snack. The return flight was good and service with a light and tasty snack was great. The price and service make TACA a great bargain.

Lima - Buenos Aires. Although we had documentation stating our flight was confirmed, Taca refused to accept and we need to pay again US$750. No consideration from staff, in fact stalling would appear to be the solution, hence we almost missed the flight. Pay again or find an alternative was the attitude, as we needed to meet an international flight in Buenos Aires the options were limited.

GIG-LIM. For a 5.5hr flight was expecting a little more, especially since the ticket wasn't cheap. Main screen entertainment which would have been fine but the movie they showed wasn't played in English as the book described. When I asked the FA she just shrugged her shoulders, didn't even go and investigate with the senior. Food terrible and very small. No pillows, no blankets. Leg room very good. More like traveling easyjet in the UK.

ORD-SJO-ORD via GUA in Business. Service and plane quality variable. Overnight flight from ORD to GUA in new A320 with seats that barely reclined and were horrible uncomfortable GUA to SJO in older A320 with seats that reclined further. Offered drink before flight from SJO to GUA and a drink with meal on 75 minute flight. After takeoff from GUA, it was an hour before we saw an FA appear from behind the curtain, then we got a drink, dinner, drink refill, and then they were behind the curtain until landing. The food was fine, but the lack of service a disappointment. Perhaps some of the difference had to do with a LACSA crew for the flights from GUA to SJO and a TACA crew for the ORD-GUA flights. Flights on time and no problem with baggage. Our web check in boarding passes worked for the return flight, not the flight to GUA, not sure why. No business class lounge in any airport that we flew through. It wasn't awful, but I wouldn't go out of my way to fly them again either.

YYZ-SAL-GUA-SAL-YYZ in economy. Well organized check-in and boarding processes for all flights. Convenient schedule, and flights all on time. Connections in SAL straightforward and well timed. Hot meal served on the YYZ-SAL legs; no service on the 45-minute SAL-GUA legs. Inflight entertainment consisted of a main screen movie (no PTVs). Seats comfortable enough, and legroom was adequate. FAs only appeared for the meal and beverage services and did not make any other passes through the cabin during the flights. They served the hot meal on the YYZ-SAL leg at the end of the flight at lunchtime rather than at the start of the flight in the middle of the morning -- although this makes a lot of sense, it's rare to see an airline make an effort to serve meals at mealtimes. Best part of the trip was not having to make a connection in the US, thereby avoiding US security hassles.

YYZ to EZE return via San Salvador and Lima in Business Class. All flights on time. Flight attendants friendly and efficient. Flying during the day to Buenos Aires was a nice change from overnight travel and not flying through the US was a nice change and a welcome break from having to deal with redundant (but necessary) security checks. The only complaint has to do with the meal service. Passengers sitting in row 3 often did not have a choice of entree since they ran out after row one. Apart from this, I enjoyed the experience of flying with TACA and will probably fly with them again to Buenos Aires.

Very pleasant experience flying JFK-SAP-JFK. All flights on time, A320's that looked brand- new, with ambient lighting, smiling and corteous crew. Both flights departed on time and arrived ahead of schedule. Excellent seat pitch, on par with JetBlue, I believe. Highly recommended.

SCL-BOG via LIM and return. Very easy booking and pay at the internet site, I recommend e- check in to avoid the queue at the airport, smiling and efficient staff at SCL airport. Nice Airbus, but little room for legs, good food in both legs, very friendly and polite flight attendants. Stop at Lima not too long and departure again on time.

EZE-LIM-SAL-CUN round trip. It was very much like flying domestic Business Class in the US (except this was a 14 hour flight). I was surprised by the plastic glasses and the fact that we got our meal way after the coach cabin was half-served. The food was good, staff friendly but disappeared once the meal was served. Seats, definitely room for improvement - not comfortable, no legrests, recline is minimal. Only got an amenity kit at one of the six legs of the trip, but it was well equipped. No personal IFE. It is only wise to fly Business Class when you get an outstanding deal (which I did). Overall a decent experience, clean, modern planes, good punctuality record, nice staff.

I've flown 10 years in a row every Feb IAD or DCA to SJO - 5 times on TACA. I've found the staff to be friendly & helpful. I speak about 10 words of Spanish and never found that to be a problem. The food as of Feb 2009 was still free, as were drinks I wanted. The extra $$$ for a checked bag was only for over 50 lbs - so far no trouble with lost bags. Carry along your own headphones or there is a $5 fee. Also the connect in Salvador is much better than Atlanta or Miami. My only complaint is the seats are a bit snug.

JFK-LIM-JFK via SJO in Economy Class. The aircraft were new, clean and on time. The cabin crew were attentive and courteous. Meals, drinks and service adequate for the flight duration and fare paid. TACA are a great choice for services from North America to Central and South America. The only comment is to minimize the length and quantity of passenger address announcements given after take-off. They can be distracting and long; especially during late night departures.

I've flown TACA both on Ejecutiva Business and on Economy Class and in both cases it has performed well. My latest trip with them was to JFK in Economy class - bags arrived on time, inflight meal was good, however the portion was small for a 5 hour flight. The seat was comfortable, however a greater pitch would be appreciated.

Business class Lima to Asuncion. Business seats are not bad at all for a 3 hours flight, wide and comfortable though a bit hard and of limited recline, but good pitch. No clear priority boarding instructions for business class passengers. Food was decent : fresh "causa" (mashed potatoes and stuffing, a Peruvian specialty) and vegetable lasagna. Service was fantastic, the FA will follow your own speed to serve you, and with a great smile.

GYE-SJO-MEX one way. Another faultless and enjoyable trip on TACA. Check in at GYE very friendly, I had massive overweight baggage, due to moving from Ecuador to Mexico and got charged only 50$, due to FF-Status, very professional and customer friendly. Flight to SJO ahead of time, friendly service, an ok snack box for a 2 hour flight. Seats in Y very comfortable, did not feel cramped at all. Transit in SJO quick and easy, no stupid security checks or anything like that. Off the plane and on the next. Flight to MEX on A320(like the first leg as well), again a snack pack served with a warm sandwich (Chicken, Beef or Veggie and different choices then GYE-SJO) and flight landed 20 minutes ahead of time in MEX. All in all, very satisfactory, considering that TACA was the cheapest option as well, compared to Copa, LAN or Avianca. I always look forward on travelling with them. And to mention, all flights were full and boarding was handled very quick and efficient by the very professional TACA Staff. I rated the trip 9 out of 10, becasue the food is not exellent, is standard, but way better then on any U.S. or european Carriers on flights less then 3 hours.

SJO/PTY return. Easy to book flights on their web page. Simple online check in and baggage check at airport front desk. All schedules on time. New aircraft (Embraer 190), no in-flight entertainment and fair food on board (free). Professional staff.
