LAX-PHX on Southwest for the first time. Check in quite efficient. Seat a bit narrow, Flight Attendant efficient and friendly.

LAX-LAS-LAX, I wish all low cost carriers were like this. Friendly efficient cabin crew who seem to enjoy their jobs. They do not charge for hold luggage and also serve a drink and a snack! Biggest surprise was generous legroom. The only thing that lets them down is the ground staff.

Southwest is a low cost carrier and there are few frills, but there is courtesy, and politeness most times that I have flown with Southwest. It is a shame they don't fly to Canada though, (Detroit being the closest they come), as we in Canada would really appreciate them.

SFO-LAX on Southwest on a late afternoon flight. Checked in online and got A43 as my number. At the airport I printed out my boarding pass and gate agent checked in my luggage. Southwest use Terminal 1 in SFO which is so so. Boarding was efficient and not many pax on board this short hop to LA. Staff efficient and friendly and I found them to be professional and polite. The flight only took 50 minutes but they served drinks and nibbles and were even asking if passengers want a refill. The flight attendant took your order for a drink and brought it to you from the galley, very classy in comparison to other US carriers. When deplaning I forgot a bag in the plane and the crew luckily noticed and brought it to me immediately. Baggage was out after a short while and we even made up a bit for the delay we encountered. Southwest is really a great US airline as they don't charge for check in baggage, are friendly and efficient.

Due to snow my flight on another carrier was cancelled and could not be rescheduled for six days. I switched to a Southwest flight with only a 2 day delay instead, PHL to TPA. All the airports in the Northeast region had to close and were dealing with stranded passengers and highly irate holiday travellers. The Southwest ground team were the first and only smiling faces I saw in the PHL airport after two days of snow and cancellations and delays systemwide. My flight was delayed but I expected that with the continued weather issues, and in the face of grumpy passengers all Southwest staff continued to smile and do their best to ease the ticketing/boarding/flight processes.

ORF-MCO and so satisfied with my trip with Southwest last year that I will not even fly from my home airport which is RIC. I love Southwest's service & non-stop flights to Florida and most importantly my bags flying for free!

Short trip MDW to PHX return. In both cases the SWA employees from gate attendants to FAs were kind & helpful. The flight was smooth and the pilots comments informative and humorous. The price was excellent compared to so-called legacy airlines and the value received was top notch.

Round-trip LAX to Ft. Lauderdale. I can take the old feel of the plane - it's worn looking inside and kind of creaky, but the narrow legroom and seats and short legroom made for a very uncomfortable flight. I might continue to fly Southwest but only because of price.

BOI-SLC-PHX . Quick check-in, agent friendly, personable and chatty. The Southwest free checked bags policy is a plus as it expedites boarding, deplaning and therefore allows for on- time departures. The cabin was clean, looked new and had comfortable leather seats. Cabin crew very casual in appearance and manner. However, they delivered a friendly, efficient service and attentive to safety. Complimentary drinks and nuts were provided. Nice touches were the Captain at the main cabin door for boarding and deplaning and the cabin crew taking individual drink orders and delivering by hand. Efficient service and good value for money.

LAX-LAS. Efficient bag drop at T2 using the automated screen, OK security line. Having checked in online very early, appreciated the strict order of boarding policy and was soon settled. Flight no more than 1/3 full so nipped to a window seat once belt sign switched off. Wholly uneventful sector, v. smooth cruise, nice view of desert and mountains as we approached Vegas. Suitcase came through speedily, good experience all round.

DEN-SAN. Bit late due to Denver weather but for $70 one way you can't fault them, online check in, got A31 to board. Bag went on an earlier flight. It cost me more than this with United to check my bag two days before. Good service with a smile and I will use them again.

RDU-PHL-RDU on a single day. Southwest seemed fine, but basic. I don't get why people like them so much. I found the flights to be full, hate the every-man-for-himself approach to boarding (and don't see the benefits), and thought the planes were rather old, and average. My choices were either Southwest or US Air on this route, and I chose Southwest for obvious reasons. Had an understandable weather delay on the return, that was exacerbated by a further delay waiting for an unaccompanied minor. I wouldn't have waited for one late pax, but they did - after everyone boarded, for 45 minutes. Then they decided not to and we left nearly 3 hours late! Not a fan.

BUF-BWI, and MCI-STL-MCI. All flights on time with friendly, efficient flight attendents. I appreciated on the early MCI-STL flight the service of orange juice or coffee. I am still not sold on unassigned seating. If you have a 'A' boarding pass its fine, if you are by yourself its fine, but for a couple or more, it is a really hit or miss.

Stuck in LAX on the evening of 24 July 2009 after a long flight from LHR, we managed to get a flight to Las Vegas on Southwest Airlines. Buying the tickets at check-in could not have been easier or more friendly. The flight was right on time and the cabin crew had just the right amount of clever humour to make us smile. No extra charges for checked baggage or anything else - rare and welcome these days. Back in the UK I realised that I did not have a receipt for the flights for my bookkeeper, so I thought I'd just try ringing Southwest. Their website gives numbers (toll-free in the US) and says "We are here 24/7 for help with Reservations, Rapid Rewards Account Information, and General Questions." They mean it, too. The man on the phone could not have been more helpful in tracing my bookings and e-mailed the confirmations to me immediately.
