Royal Brunei Airlines review - by Tapani Utunen
12 August 2006
FRA-BWN-KUL-BWN-BKK-FRA in economy. For a very reasonable fare we got a
lot more than expected: three stopovers, flights that were on time,
pleasant & quite motivated crews, two to three meal options to choose
from, three half-empty flights (BKK-BWN,BWN-KUL and BKK-FRA) and even
the IFE was working on all our flights. Maybe we were just very lucky.
Have you ever noticed how relaxed and peaceful flights can get at their
best when no alcohol is served on board? This amazed us on the longer
flights FRA-BKK and BKK-FRA. Compared with some Asian carriers RBA might
not be among the top 5 but we had good flights with them.

PER-BWN-LHR-BWN-PER economy class. The flight from PER-BWN was on the
non retrofitted 767 but all other sectors on the retrofitted.
Seats/cabin were always clean, the food is excellent and they got my
child meal request correct on every sector and delivered them to the
kids first. Cannot fault the inflight attendant service at all, very
helpful. Noticed that the pilots are predominantly Australian (probably
ex Ansett), this was reassuring as they are some of the best. The IFE of
course has still got its problems but 99% of the time you can simply
resume your movie where it left off so no major problem. Was annoyed
though that on the return leg (5/Aug), the IFE on this particular
aircraft was still loaded with the July movies. On such a long sector
(LHR-BWN 17.5 hours with the refuelling stop at Dubai) the movies
certainly help the time pass and keep the kids happy and surely 5 days
into the month they could have loaded the current months movies. On the
return leg they lost some of our luggage at Heathrow so at Bandar Seri
Begawan it did not show up. Make sure you complain loudly enough when
filling in the lost luggage form at BWN airport office as only then do
they offer you BND$250 (roughly AUD$210) as compensation, those who
didn’t complain were not offered it. Overall very happy with RBA.

LHR-DXB-BWN-BNE and returned DWN-BWN-DXB-LHR, business class. Every
sector except DWN-BWN had flat beds, and I'm 5ft 8 and stretched out
easily. Can't fault the service in flight: cabin attendants always on
the look out for passengers awake in darkened cabin, always offering
drinks. The meals on demand (last order 90 mins before landing) are a
great idea. My special meal was available on all sectors. The IFE is
unreliable but I knew that from reading your pages and went prepared.
The only downside was that children were allowed to run around the
business cabin on the DXB-BWN and BWN-BNE sector which were night time
flights. Cabin attendant told us they found it hard to control
(understandably) when parents make no effort: they also said that some
parents expected a nanny service from cabin attendants. I agree with
comments about lounges: LHR is OK, but DXB by gate 8 horribly
overcrowded and not advertised: you have to ask for the location. BWN
lounge has very limited facilities and food not up to much. However,
given the very competitive business class fares, I would rate this
airline as good value for money.

Tried out Royal Brunei as their business class fare was good value for
money LHR -BKK via Brunei return. Checked in at LHR and got the bad news
that it was not to be the retrofitted aircraft for this flight, so no
flat bed or in seat IFE. Royal Brunei use the SAS lounge (the London
Room) at LHR, two floor lounge with plenty of space to relax in. We got
the old first class cabin which was pink and gold, cinema screen at the
front and the seats were pink leather, plenty of room so no complaints
in that respect, seated towards the front of the cabin so we could see
the screen no problems. Cabin lay out was 2-1-2. Royal Brunei is a dry
airline but you can bring your own booze on board. Cabin service was
good they offer an eat when you want option. Food was good a plentiful
even though it took a while to arrive. Stopped in Dubai for a brief
refuel and then off again for another 7 hours to Brunei. All sectors
left on time and arrived on time. Return Leg - plane was retrofitted -
what a difference. Again seating is 2x1x2 but with in seat IFE and a
sloping bed. Take off was on time following the prayer for a safe
flight, drinks (soft) and meal choices were taken shortly after take
off. IFE started almost right after take off (no two day old news reel
either!) With a reasonable selection films, sure it stopped and started
but you could always go back to your film where you left it. The seating
was better than the old first class ones we had on the way out but i
found myself slipping down the incline and almost ended up sleeping in
the space under the seat in front. Arrived into Dubai at midnight (local
time) and had to disembark for refuelling. . There is a shared lounge by
gate 8 but we only spotted it as we were getting back on board. Shared
by at least 10 other airlines. Full cabin from Dubai to London but the
service was flawless. Never needed to press the call button for
anything. The food service seemed to be done in a much better way
although at that time of night/day it was a light bites menu... Managed
about another 4 hours sleep. Breakfast run commenced 2 hours from
London, everyone was served at roughly the same time from a trolley
(silver service style) and then you were asked about which hot meal you
would like. After pastries, fruit, cereal and toast I wasn't exactly
starving and opted for the hot smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich
and a coffee. It was good to see metal cutlery onboard and food served
on china plates. Quick freshen up in the toilet, same as the old first
class toilet, have to lift a cushioned seat to find the loo, plenty of
moisturisers and other amenities available. I would use Royal Brunei
again if i went to Oz or back to BKK but I would want to know that I had
a retrofitted aircraft when booking the seats. The old style seats are
ok and comfortable but its the IFE that really helps the time pass and
when you pay for a business class ticket you don't really want to have
to peer over the seat in front to see the screen. Overall about 8 out of
10.

Sydney to London - Business Class. Overall, not bad. The seat was good - as big as any Business class seats I have been on. It went almost
flat and I had enough leg room to stretch out completely - I'm 6ft. Not as comfortable as BA but
fine to sleep in. Food was pretty good - no complaints and service was OK, although probably not as attentive and well
trained as some of the bigger airlines. In flight entertainment was a big disappointment - it didn't work on either plan to London and I
gave up for the return leg and bought DVDs for my laptop (you can plug into your seat with US style
plugs). It was clearly not the first time the entertainment had broken down! Strange flight pattern - 3 x 7 hour trips to Brunei, then Dubai, then Lon. It works OK and means
you don't have an interminably long leg at any stage, but we had long stopovers in Brunei - 6.5
hours on way out, 3.5 hours on way back. All in all, it takes a lot longer - 28/30 hour total trip
times vs 23 on average, and there ain't much to do at Brunei airport.
No alcohol either on planes or stopovers, but you can take your own stuff on board with you.
Overall pretty satisfied. Ultimately, you choose Brunei for cash reasons - my bus class fare was
$2.5k cheaper than BA/Qantas. It is less convenient - in flight entertainment, length of trip and
alcohol, so you have to work out whether the cash saving is worth these inconveniences.

FRA-BWN-FRA in Business May/June 2006. Flat beds all the way, again not
all of the features of the seats and the IFE working properly (but most
did). Comfortable seating. Stop in BKK in each direction. Crew varied by
sector, but was generally friendly and motivated. Royal Brunei's
catering has significantly improved since my last flight with them which
was in May 2005. They now have an a-la-carte menu which even includes
soup. All the food tastes delicious and is nicely arranged. Overnight
kits seemed from economy on FRA-BWN (plastic bag containing socks,
eyemask, earplugs, toothbrush) and no overnight kit was given on BWN-
FRA. Lounge in FRA is quite basic, in transit in BKK you can use the
THAI lounge which is crowded, but has a good selection of food and
beverages. Royal Brunei's own lounge in BWN is very nice with
comprehensive selection of food and drinks, and only 20 metres from the
departure gates.

Each year we fly Royal Brunei Dubai/LHR/Dubai on our holidays home.
Yes the IFE is usually messed up, but cabin crew are friendly & very
helpful, flights have always been on time and they are always good value
for money, with good food. We have tried many others over the years, but
for a combination of cost, service and regularity of flights, they are
difficult to beat (in Economy class). I don't know about Business class
as this is usually ridiculously expensive on all airlines for slightly
bigger seats, nicer crockery etc, and better IFE. If only the Business
class tickets were double price rather than triple - I might use the
service then.

My wife and I flew business class from Sydney to Brunei and on to LHR.
Seats comfortable and service - especially on the first leg was
excellent. Leg to LHR had a full cabin and the service suffered a little
as the cabin crew attempted to serve everyone at once to enable the
maximum time for sleeping. Seats converted to beds and we slept both
before and after the Dubai stop. The fast track for British passport
holders at LHR airport also helped us and there was no delay in
obtaining luggage. A very satisfactory experience - well done Royal
Brunei.

Jakarta-Brunei-Dubai-London return in Economy Class. Very good outwards,
flew A319 on the CGK-BWN leg. Small but very clean plane. Flew new
retrofit plane on BWN-LHR leg. Entertainment system was excellent, good
amount of movies, however, games were hard to play. Drink runs occurred
every hour throughout the flight. Food was fantastic. Lots of variety
and taste. On return the older non-retrofit B767 plane but didn't mind
no PTV's as just wanted to sleep. The legroom and width is very good
compared to Qantas and actually quite bearable for the long journey. It
was definitely worth the $1000 AUD each for 5 people for such a long
journey however, Jakarta is not a very desirable place to go (hope I do
not offend anyone, but it was the most scariest place we've ever been
to. Much different from our hometown of Perth). Definitely go again and
will go with BI again.

London to Brisbane return in Economy. Newer retrofitted aircraft between LHR and Brunei.
Entertainment system awful on both journeys. Screens either did not work at all or stopped every few
minutes before locking up altogether. This was not just isolated to our 4 seats but on most of the
aircraft judging by peoples comments at Dubai stop over. The cabin staff were reasonably good but
kept very busy trying to reset the IFE system all the time. I got the impression this sort of thing
happens all the time. Leg room on newer aircraft seems limited with large seat supports ( I assume to support
entertainment system that doesn't work) which get in the way of putting your legs under the seat in
front on some seats (Row C amongst others). Older aircraft very shabby but more legroom and at least you know you don't have the frustration of
the 'entertainment' screens. Food ok - what do you expect for an airline economy class meal?
No alcohol of course but you can take your own if you want to ( don't forget screw top bottles
only). However you don't really miss it as long as you have taken a good book to read.
Brunei airport is not the place you want to be stranded in for even a short delay, 1 or 2 very small
and poorly stocked shops, a canteen and toilets which are mostly just holes in the ground. Air
conditioning only seemed to work in the departure gates. Would I fly with them again?
Certainly not - do yourself a favour and avoid them even if it costs you a bit more.

Flew with my family to Brisbane from London business class. London to
Brunei we had the new retrofitted planes - seats were very good,
although many problems with the TV's (they didnt work and when you are
paying decent money you expect a decent entertainment system). Service
was good although they messed up my child special meal which meant she
couldn't eat anything - bar what we had brought for her. From Brunei we
had the old planes which are pretty bad - biz class is worse than
economy equivalent on other flights and definitely not worth the money.
On our return from Brisbane, old seats to Brunei and then the new plane
again - and none of the 4 tvs worked again. Was told by the air hostess
that this was normal for Royal Brunei. In addition for a no dairy and no
egg meal they brought an omelette (which had no dairy no egg written on
the packaging!). Overall not worth the money - they need to give the
whole package. Maybe in a few years they can achieve this.

London - Auckland return in Economy. Out and back were both full flights with little space but the retrofitted 767 ws very comfortable on
the legs via Dubai to and from Bandar Seri Begawan. On the other legs via Brisbane it was the older
craft with a single screen and this left a great deal to be desired. The choice of entertainment
with the new craft was splendid (apart from some initial hitches with the individual controllers
which are not as robust as those for Malaysian Airlines. As far the other legs went it was worse
than nothing. between Brisbane and Bandar an english language film played but was dubbed in German
with mandarin subtitles. No amount of channel searching could bring up the english option. This was
followed by a 40 minute film that seemed to stem from the surrealist period in the 1930's particularly
since there appeared to be no accompanying soundtrack available. The food was good with an emphasis on taste rather than quantity and the absence of alcohol was not
a bad thing. As far as comfort went the seats had adequate leg room but its still
difficult to
sleep in that position. Also when one did manage to get to sleep (once paralysis sets in its amazing
what positions you can get into) this was disturbed by the cabin lights coming on to full power when
any announcement was made such as imminent turbulence. If there was one big gripe, apart from the
lack of real entertainment on the older craft, it was the security procedures at each stop. Having
to leave the craft was enough but as a transit passenger having to go through the full security
system every time was a bit tiresome. At the price (and that's what seemed to drive all those I

London to Brisbane with our 8 month old child. We had numerous problems
arranging to fly with an infant. Initial (internet) booking did not
allow us to buy a ticket for our son, nor did it inform us this was
required. The need for a ticket for him was only discovered during our
request for a cot. After buying his ticket, we had to ask 4 times (over
a one month period) for proof of purchase, which we finally received by
fax the day prior to flying. This fax was then questioned at check in.
In addition, it took 3 separate calls to determine if we could travel
with a push chair. Firstly we were told, 'no' then, 'maybe', then '90%
OK'. At Heathrow we discovered that the plane stopped in Dubai, as well
as Brunei. We were not impressed as this stopover was not mentioned at
the time of booking, nor was it on our itinerary or our tickets. We
would not have flown with RB if we'd known that the aircraft had to land
twice prior to reaching Brisbane. The planes themselves were tired and
old. London to Brunei had individual TVs, one of which didn't work.
Brunei to Brisbane had no individual TVs and poor leg room. Aircraft
staff were friendly and food was reasonable. In summary - the planes
were old and cramped and without adequate entertainment. Travelling
with a child was more difficult than it needed to be. The stop in Dubai
adds time to an already long flight and should be clearly flagged by RB
to avoid customer dissatisfaction. There is no way that we would ever
fly with RB again.

Travelled SYD-BWI-BKK and found the service good, the food good, and the
water and soft drinks well supplied. No personal IFE - an old 767.
The return flight was good except the movies kept stopping after 10
minutes, the CD collection was rarely available, the games were a joke
as they also became "temporarily unavailable". If Royal Brunei advertise
the IFE system, then they should make sure it works ! Not quite sure
whether to recommend them or not.

London to Perth, return in Business. Flat bed flights all the way to
Perth. Everything excellent (check-in, lounges, service, food, comfort
and timing) except no amenity kits available and the entertainment
system re-started in the middle of a film. A lounge is available at
Dubai though not mentioned by the crew - it is by Gate 8. Return flight
- oh dear - the old plane on all 3 sectors so no flat bed. They really
must upgrade this plane (and maybe the whole fleet as the 767s are
getting on), the 'throne' style seats are big but hopeless for sleeping.
Very disappointing. They also showed the same film on consecutive
sectors (there is no choice on this plane) and it also happened to be
the one I had chosen to see on the way to Perth. Pathetic 'economy'
amenity kit of a nasty eye cover and toothbrush were offered. But all
other aspects were spot on and the service is still good value.

Economy LHR to DXB on the refitted B767. This airline has improved in
every aspect since I last flew with them in 2003. I have been a regular
flyer on this route since 1996. Cabin crew were excellent - very eager
to help and make sure you are comfortable. Improved IFE and food.
Arrived in to DXB 30 mins early. Must say that his flight was probably
the best we've had in a long time - Royal Brunei surpasses BA and EK on
this route, given the good price and excellent service.

Business Class from LHR to AKL. Very disappointed to be on old aircraft
from London to Brunei. We booked Royal Brunei for the beds and did not
get to sit on the new seating until the Brunei-Brisbane-Auckland sector.
By that time it was daylight and too late. Fingers crossed that we do
get proper seating on our return journey on 22 March. In the above
circumstances I would not fly Royal Brunei again - we bought the seats
on the strength of retrofitted beds. Service, however, was very good and
so was accommodation at airport lounges, but what a disappointment to be
on one of those old aircraft. Be warned - unfortunately there's nothing
you can do about it!

KUL-DWN via BWN. Travelled the above sector with my wife and 3 month old
daughter. This is the first time we flew Royal Brunei and were very
impressed with their inflight service. All the cabin staff were
extremely friendly and helpful. No problems with the seating we
requested as we needed a bassinet. Ground staff in KUL, Brunei and
Darwin very helpful and accomodating. All together a very pleasant
experience and will not hesitate to fly Royal Brunei again or recommend
them to friends.

London Heathrow - Auckland (via Dubai, Brunei, Brisbane) - Economy Class. Old style 767 to Brunei
then changed planes to refitted with TV on back of seats. Personal TVs were good but I think the
old style seemed to have more room. Meals were excellent and was the steward/ess service. Flights
on time on the way to Auckland, delayed by 1 hour at Brunei on the way back to London. Travelled
with a 2 year old, 6 and 9 year old. Staff very patient with the children walking up and down the
aisles. Downside - the children weren't offered kids packs or anything but the TV kept the older
ones amused. Also had to disembark at each stopover and take all luggage even when returning to
the same seat which was quite tiresome as it all had to pass back through security again. Pilots
kept in touch with passengers regarding flight times and turbulance which was reassuring. Would use
again but not travelling with children as the flight time ends up being too long overall.

Business class. London to Auckland via Dubai, Brunei and Brisbane, Feb
3, 2006. Advised at airport about non-sleeping seats. Not pleased as
that was the reason I chose RBA. Flight delayed 6 hours in Brunei due
to mechanical problem. I understand this, but do not understand being
put on a plane that was not only very old, but was shop worn, poorly
fitted, soiled and not as good as economy class on other airlines.
Auckland to Brunei flight had sleeper seats but as it was daytime, they
were not required. Brunei to London portion, which was overnight, did
not have sleeper seats. Again very disappointing. Cabin crew were
delightful, polite and helpful. Meals were quite good. Very
disappointed about the aircraft. Will probably not fly RBA again if I
can get similar pricing on another airline.

Heathrow to Dubai return. Flights left on time and food was
reasonable (halal meals). The ticket was a bargain with an online travel agent at £250 incl taxes
and wondered if there would be a catch - but I have no real complaints. The outbound flight had on-
demand movies viewable on the back of the seat in front, but did freeze and need resetting - some
did complain about this. The return flight was not retrofitted and did not have this system at all,
but I think its better to try to sleep at this time anyway. With a choice between this airline and
Emirates- for the same price I would choose Emirates, but I would fly with Brunei again for the
bargain of £250- £300.

Auckland - Bandar Seri Begawan - Kota Kinabalu return. Amazing value for
money! Friendly service, decent meals with plenty served. You really
don't miss the alcohol. One comment I would make is that I felt that
juice/water rounds did not happen often enough, however when asked it
appeared very quickly. Had the one and only old style 767 going over to
Bandar. There are 2 economy cabins and for some reason the front one has
more legroom. We made this comment and were moved to one of the front
cabin seats. Bandar to Kota return in very new looking A320 and A 319 -
a drink and sweet only offered for this 40 minute flight. New retro
fitted 767 back to Auckland with AVOD. It kept stopping which was a
pain, but as I said for the cost, who cares. My main criticism is Bandar
Seri Begawan airport - dull with very poor facilities. Really needs
attention. Overall, a great product.

LHR-DXB in economy with my wife and 2 year old child. Having previously
lived in Brunei I have used this airline a lot, my last flight being 5
years ago. Compared to back then, I think they have cut down on the
little things that made this airline stand out eg menu cards, choice
of 3 meals in economy, toys for kids, amenity kits etc. On the plus
side the aircraft have now been refitted and feature the AVOD system
which is excellent and the food is reasonable. During off peak times,
this sector is usually half full which enables you to stretch out.
Overall excellent value for a very reasonable fare.

HKG-BWN J Class. BI serves this sector with a quite new A320, offering
12 J Class seats. Checked in at HKG-Central Airport Express Station
already but the check-in took very long time (the agent told me the BI
system was working very slowly there). They use the Dragonair lounge in
HKG which is a very nice lounge - some nice meals and snacks, and
comfortable seating. Service on board was good (only 6 pax in J), a
light meal was served. They offer in-seat-video in J Class on the airbus
too, but it's not the same AVOD-system as on the refitted B757s (no
AVOD). Food was average. A nice flight at a good price!

Business class Heathrow - Brisbane. Refitted 767 to Dubai. No
complaints - seating, service, entertainment excellent. However, last
leg to Brisbane (then going onto Auckland) was an un-modernised 767.
Seating very poor, cabin screen which was difficult to see, showing as
main feature the 1939 version of The Wizard of Oz! They tell me it is
the last one not refitted. Perhaps they should expedite, since those
who draw the short straw, really experience poor business class standard
and its doing RBA reputation no good at all. Return business class on
refitted planes for whole journey and no complaints. Surprised no
amenity bags were supplied. Would use them again.

Return trip Per/Lhr/Per (business class) - best flight ever flying Royal
Brunei. I have flown this route using most of the major airlines flying

I have just returned on a Far East trip using Royal Brunei - Business
Class. Going out, bags of leg room, good recliners, personal tv. food
over the top and at wrong times but very good. Staff very attentive -
only complaint no amenities bag. On my return, old aircraft, limited
contents in amenities bag, no personal TV. Couldn't see the big screen
for other passengers heads. Recliners didn't fully allow a stretch out -
footrest broken - had to use my hand luggage as a foot rest. I arrived
at Heathrow the worse for wear. I have used Royal Brunei many times -
this return flight was the worst - not Business Class standard I am afraid.

Brisbane to Auckland 20/12/05 Business Class - the non retrofitted 767 -
seemed OK - plenty of leg room, recline was satisfactory as was the foot
rests. Food was good (too much actually - you don't really feel like a
meal at midnight) and the inflight movie was one I wanted to see. For
the price (cheaper than some economy flights to the same destination) we
couldn't complain. Auckland to Brisbane 02/01/06 Business Class - one of
the retrofitted 767s. Comfortable seats, all the buttons worked. Crew

food was ample and quite nice. Good choice of IFE again.

LHR-DXB-LHR. Just returned from a 2 week break in Dubai with Royal
Brunei - 767-300ER both ways. On the outward journey, had the new IFE
system with excellent service. The return journey was on an older
767-300ER which had no personal tv. Royal Brunei have fitted 4 of their
6 boeing 767's with the new seats and IFE, however the one I was flying
still fitted with the older seats. The leg room on our flight back was
excellent and so too was the service and breakfast.

Heathrow to Dubai return, economy class. Appalling airline, bad aircraft
- do not use this airline, please, pay a little more and go BA, Virgin
or Emirates. We were stranded in Dubai Airport for just over 15 hours.
Granted a small portion of this delay was fog related, but the rest was
down to lack of competence and ability. A complete lack of communication
and staff presence added to what was a ridiculous delay. All passengers
were fed a string of contradicting stories when a Royal Brunei official
did turn up - and it became a 15 hour episode of 'Airline'. There was a
complete lack of customer care and sensitivity to those stuck in the
airport for the length of time. There was also no regard to older
travellers, or people that had been travelling for a long period. The
airline, apart from being 3rd rate and badly organised, is just too
small and too far from home when problems and delays occur. The aircraft
was also shabby, with the inflight entertainment not functioning on both
journeys. Indeed, the TV in the seat in front of me had been vandalised
on the return journey. I accept that if one pays a little less, one can
expect a little less - it is my policy. If it is yours too, in this
instance make an exception, don't fly Royal Brunei.

Frankfurt-Bangkok return with Royal Brunei (Economy. Both flights were
very pleasant experiences. The seats in economy all at personal
entertainment systems and a selection of 13 films. The choice was okay
with a range of new and not-too-old films. The cabin crews varied
(change in Dubai, so I experienced four different crews). All were quite
attentive, although two crews were not too friendly. Another big plus is
the seating: I like the 2-3-2 seating a lot and the space between rows
is much better than I ever had in other airlines. Even with my 190cm, I
had no problems to relax over the whole flight. All in all Royal Brunei
seems worth their money in Economy. Apart from minor complaints (broken
joystick knob on one of my entertainment systems) it was a pleasant
experience!!

DRW/LHR/DRW in economy. Very long flight; as there is an opportunity to
have two stops in either direction (at Banda Seri Bagawan and Dubai), I
would definitely make the effort to break the journey on any repeat
flights. Food good, low salt choice missing on first leg, but rectified
rapidly and without fuss by ground staff at BWN. IFE acceptable, FA
attentive and good humoured. Choice of catering, tours and duty-free at
BWN okay, but waiting at any airport for 12 hours is a drag.

I flew Business Class LHR-BND on 20th November, and it was one of the
worst flights I have ever experienced. I was 'unlucky' in that I got the
only remaining un-reconfigured 767. The seats were most uncomfortable
and barely reclined. I also had the misfortune to be in the first row,
so every time a member of crew went into the galley, the curtain was
flicked over my legs - OK once or twice, but after continually happening
during 16 hours travelling it got very tiring. Even after requesting the
crew be more careful, nothing changed. The so called inflight
'entertainment' was dreadful - the Wizard of Oz, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
and Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory! And all on the 'big screen'
since there were no individual TVs. The crew to Dubai were fine -
helpful, pleasant and generous, from Dubai on getting anything from the
crew was like getting blood from a stone. I returned on 25th November,
the plane was slightly better, but still no flat bed and still no
entertainment system. One of the 2 films on the big screen was Mary Poppins!! Again, the crew on the 2 legs varied - Brunei to Dubai weren't
interested, Dubai to London were better. On neither the outbound or
inbound flight were amenity bags available - 'they were waiting for new
supplies'. I would hate to think I might ever have to fly Royal Brunei
again.

I agree with David Vlceks comment on the London flight Business class on
Dec 4th. We also were on the flight from Brisbane and were disgusted by
the standard of the seats. The outward flight on October 23rd had sky
beds as far as Brunei, but one of ours was not working correctly and the
flight on to Auckland from Brunei was the unmodernised plane. The flight
from Auckland to Brisbane on the 21st November also did not have the
flat beds but had the old first class seats and this was continuing on
to Brunei. We would not have paid to fly with Royal Brunei if we had
known that the flat beds were not available. The in flight entertainment
was also poor.

Mr Vlcek, you were extremely unlucky as only one B767 ( V8-RBK ) is yet
to be retro-fitted in the new Business Class configuration.
