MEL-SYD-PEK, PVG-SYD-MEL. Outbound Domestic flight to SYD on one of Qantas' outdated 767's. Breakfast served (a
bacon and egg roll) which was quite edible. Transfer was easy as booked in at Melbourne and all
bags transfered. Boarded plane A330-300 and there was about hour and half delay which was reasonable
- stayed in the Qantas lounge. Flight back was pathetic - ticketing problems due to inadequate
signposting telling me that there was a codeshare. Put on a China Eastern flight A330-200, no
leg room, food inedible. Turned around at Melbourne heading back to Sydney due to fog 8 hour delay,
no food voucher nothing. Ticketing problem due to my registration as one of the only codeshare
passengers on the plane. FA's with no English competency. Shame on you Qantas.

PER - MEL Return on 767. Flight to MEL was good. Plane fairly empty, surprising given it was the
AFL grand final weekend plus school holidays. So had middle row to myself. Inflight service was good
and it's nice to see Qantas provide some of the services many other airlines now charge for. Bag was
missing on arrival in MEL. Delivered to hotel next day. Flight back to PER was terrible. Plane was
due to leave at 10.45am we did not leave until 5.30pm. A number of technical problems then change of
crew left us waiting in MEL for most of the day. Despite being given food vouchers there was little
information provided until late in the afternoon when a replacement plane was found. The original
plane was due to go into maintenance that day, so why cause all these problems in using it again
when it should have been in the workshop?

BNE-SYD-BNE, SYD-MEL-BNE sectors in one week on Qantas, mainly on B767-300s. Good flights
(except for the terrible 'music' Qantas plays on their PA system during boarding and deplaning).
Friendly FAs and good service for these short hops. However, one aspect impressed me and that was in
regard to comments I made in these columns some months ago in respect to 'window seats' that
actually do not have a window and the problems this can create for passengers, especially on long-
haul flights in cramped conditions. I strongly suspect that, in response to the opportunity to
provide this information via Skytrax, Qantas has now put into place a policy of keeping this
particular seat empty when possible. I just missed a call from Qantas customer service, I suspect in
regards to this issue. In any case, on all flights I have just taken I noticed these particular
seats were kept empty (except on one flight). In any respect, it strongly suggests to me that
certain airlines actually read these columns, so Skytrax needs an award of its own! Also, most
flights were close to being on time and if they weren't then plently of announcements were made.
Pleasant check-in staff as well at all ports.

LAX to MEL. Overnight flight - supper a delicious panini sandwich, breakfast (ordered before sleeping) was
scrambled eggs and grilled bacon arrived freshly cooked - the best I have had on any airline.
The seat, although not flat as BA business class seat (why not?) allowed me a great 7 hours sleep.

SYD-LAX, SFO-SYD. Second time flying this route, and quite satisfied overall. Ground crew are
professional and polite. The check-in staff at SFO were especially good - we had assigned seating
problems which they sorted out rapidly and efficiently. As others have stated, the food onboard is
okay, but not outstanding, with the exception of the hot chocolate. FAs I found to be quite good.
Qantas seems to put their very experienced FAs on this route. AVOD kept my daughter well
entertained. No sign of the oft mentioned glitches. The seat is good for an economy seat
(which means that while it's still no joy to sit in for 14 hours straight, I walked away without
anything more than stiffness), and I managed about 6 hours sleep in it.

MEL-SYD-JNB and back. The check in was very fast and efficient and the staff polite. Despite being slightly over weight
we were not charged excess (not charging seems to be standard practice for Qantas as long as the bag
is not over 30kg). The plane was clean and the seats comfortable (except when the person in front puts their seat back,
as is always the case in economy everywhere). The IFE is fantastic with the on demand system
offering a huge choice of films, tv programmes and music EXCEPT on the outward flight it was not
working properly so the choice of entertainment was very limited, a huge disappoint on a long flight
like this. The food was nice with my choices being available and a good bar service to
match. My only gripe would be that the snack bag they give you in between dinner and breakfast is
not all that interesting and when you ask for more snacks all they can offer you is a few pretzels
instead of a nice chocolate bar. Also on both flights I somehow missed out on the hot chocolate
being brought around before bed and when I buzzed to ask for some I was told there was no more left.
As my husband and I were travelling to South Africa to get married I had my wedding dress as a carry
on item and the staff were very good at storing it in the first class compartment. However, some
special treatment (a glass of champagne for example) in light of this fact would have greatly
improved customer service. Both flights arrived on time and the offloading was quick and easy.

London-Singapore business after BA had messed up my connection from Edinburgh the night before. The
skybed isn't as good as BA's Club World seat but every other aspect of the trip was faultless.
Ultra-enthusiastic crew, great food (and Aussie wine) and a great entertainment system. Still
managed a few hours sleep even though the seat doesn't feel as private as the BA equivalent. Bags
took about 10 minutes to arrive at the carousel in Singapore.

SYD - BKK in First. Upgraded from Business Class at the desk in the amazing new First lounge at
Sydney airport. There's not much not to like about travelling at the pointy end, although the seats
are clearly in need of an upgrade, which has been announced to coincide with Qantas' introduction of
A380s. The current setup is fine, but the seats do lack the privacy of the better business class
suites available (or soon to be). Meal was the multi-course degustation variety and left nothing to
be desired. The service, the wine selection and table presentation all came together to create a
thoroughly first class dining experience. IFE AVOD worked flawlessly, cabin crew professional,
friendly and attentive. I could have quite happily stayed on the plane through to LHR. Maybe next time.

SYD-LAX. Flown on a 747-400 with average legroom and recline. Food was average, nothing to write
home about, though the Snack on Q service was great. Service friendly, but flight attendants are not
very attentive, often ignoring calls from passengers. Entertainment was fantastic when it was
working, with AVOD and plenty of choices, but that only happened until about 2-3 hours into the
flight.

LAX-SYD-LAX 747-400 Economy. Arrived in LAX via another airline and went to Qantas check-in
counter, fast and friendly service. Find out that my spouse is not sitting with myself and our
daughter, he is further down the back of the plane. How that happened is a mystery as booking for
the 3 of us was made all at the same time. Plane was full but she managed to get the 3 of us
together. We sat in the row behind an exit row which is also across from the galley. Wasn't too
thrilled with this arrangement because attendants are in and out of the galley and the bright light
shines on you disrupting your sleep. Return flight an hour late leaving, plane needed to be cleaned
for our flight. This time we all seats together but was 2 rows behind where we sat going down so
again across from the galley and again the same issues, bright lights and high traffic area with
attendants in and out. Food was fine, childrens meal was good for our daughter. We took notice
that all attendants in the economy class were male, all of them friendly. IFE excellent with plenty
of movies and tv shows to choose from and games for our daughter to play. Would fly them again but
would make sure we had different seats next time.

SYD-MEL-SYD Business. Tatty old 76 on the way down, not at all clean nor comfortable. Front cabin
packed, but service very efficient if less than warm and personable. Very good breakfast. New 738 on
the way back. Much nicer seats, clean. Excellent service. Used names, couldn't do enough.
Great meal of poached salmon on a bed of soba noodles a la japonaise, and super wines.

Sydney-Adelaide return. Outbound flight on time, cookie or chocolate bar for mid afternoon flight.
Apparently beer or wine available on this service, but not offered. Service professional, check-in
kiosks very user friendly. Return, Hot meal served for tea-time flight - I haven't had a hot meal in
economy for years! No free alcohol due this same flight being 'Cityflier'! Overall, very easy,
pleasant, worth the extra $15 each way over Virgin Blue

BNE-TSV return. Food was very basic. Spiced Apple Cookie, nuts and a drink. Same coming home.
Managed to get on the early flight. Same service coming home. FA's good despite a complaining
passenger who didnt want to move his seat. IFE OK. Check in both ways was brilliant. The quick check at Brisbane took me 30 seconds.
Checked in early in Townsville and got on the earlier flight thanks to the very nice check in agent.

WLG-SYD-HKG return. Outward economy and return on airmiles upgrade to
Business. Service very good on all flights, but Business Class dinner out of Hong Kong appalling. Took the
salmon and suffered the following night, badly. Late arrival Sydney on return, nearly missed connecting flight to Wellington, but ground crew
brilliant, four minutes from aircraft to aircraft, but baggage missed the connection.
Baggage arrived on following flight. Missing passenger had arrived in Sydney from London, and instead of transfering, went out through
customs and was lost, although baggage was loaded onto aircraft, and then unloaded again when
passenger did not show up. Then a passenger freaked out and disembarked, with the consequence that
baggage had to be unloaded as well.

MEL-SIN-LHR-HK-MEL. Quick, friendly check-in at Melbourne but counter attendant forgot to issue Fast
Track voucher through immigration. Melbourne lounge facilities very good. Warm, friendly greetings
onboard 747-400 on all sectors. Wife and I seated upstairs row 13 for all sectors, as requested.
Good, attentive service throughout. Once airborne the individual introduction and greeting by the
Customer Services Manager on 3 out of the 4 sectors was a welcome return to the good old days. Meals
and beverages very good. Amenity kits have deteriorated over recent decades to be
almost meaningless, but pyjamas are practical. Slept well in Skybeds. AVOD on all sectors was
excellent. Qantas Clubs in Singapore and Hong Kong are excellent, but their shower facilities
are oppressively humid. They badly need an effective ventilation system

A330-300 Sydney to Hong Kong in economy class. Flight attendants were polite and good, efficient service provided. The legroom was acceptable.
In the 8-hour trip, 3 meals were served and they were edible. I was quite surprised that supper was

more than expected.

SFO-SYD return. I would rate the flight inbound to Sydney much higher than our return trip
to the United States. The food was good, but not what I expected for such a long (15
hour) flight. It would be great if they offered more snack services during the flight in addition to
the two meal services and the snack on Q bag. On the flight to Sydney there was a problem with the AVOD and we could not use the video on demand feature do it a tech issue with the air plane. On the
way back the AVOD system worked fully, however the meals were not as good. The crew on both flights however were great and fairly
friendly.

PER-SYD on 747-300. Flight departed on time and arrived early. Service was ok but could have been a
bit more attentive. Pressed the call button but no one came and the light went off automatically after
5 or 10 minutes. Meals were fine. The best thing about flying Qantas over the others, especially on
long domestic flights, is better seat pitch and larger recline, making the flight much more
comfortable. I would recommend Qantas for flights greater than 3 hours.

Heathrow to Singapore in Business. I was concerned about the quality of the Skybed as opposed to BA's
lie-flat bed but the seat is comfortable and I got a few hours sleep. The Skybed is angled, but not
the dramatic angle I'd imagined. I didn't feel it was a particularly private seat. AVOD on Qantas is
superb - enormous choice and faultless in operation. There was a decent selection of snacks for
business passengers in the galley throughout the flight. The crew were fairly friendly but could've
done with some perking up. Overall, a good experience. I'd gladly fly Qantas business in future.
