DFW-BNE and SYD-DFW in Premium Economy. Flight delayed from Dallas due to a "mandatory inspection" which left everyone wondering what was wrong with the plane. It had been sitting on the ground for 8 hours which should have been enough time to get the inspection done. Departed 1.5hrs late but managed to make connection to AKL from BNE. Seats are very comfortable but footrest is not practical for tall people. Food/drinks service is good quality. Crew were friendly and made sure passengers were looked after. Would definitely recommend this service for long haul flights.

Melbourne-Heathrow, via Singapore, return in Jan/Feb 2013, in business class on A380. In both directions I experienced the new 'Sleep Service' where a thin grey mattress is rolled out over the seat, to improve comfort. Most people in the cabin were experienced business class travellers and the rolls came out as soon as the seatbelt sign was turned off - they do add an extra layer of comfort but don't go expecting too much. In both directions I was frustrated in my desire to see the new amenity packs - they are still using up the old patterned ones - I wish they hadn't advertised the new ones yet! Meals were ok - in particular the soups were delicious. I didn't have pudding on any of the legs - always too full and ready to sleep by the time the trolley came around. One meal was a real disappointment - the 'cafe breakfast' (a new development - I have never had that before) on the SIN-MEL leg was poor. There were only two choices and unfortunately I couldn't eat either of them: the croissants were full of ham, and the fruit compote (served with yoghurt) had grapefruit in it. There was nothing else on offer. In the end I was offered some of the previous nights blue cheese (going hard) and soft crackers. I think that is pretty poor - I would have been happy with cereal from economy or toast from first class but nothing was offered and I went hungry. Apart from that, all legs left and arrived on time or within 5 minutes of schedule, luggage was on the ground promptly, and on arriving at both Heathrow and Melbourne I was through immigration and customs and in a taxi within 25 minutes of landing.

We flew Christchurch to Sydney and then Sydney to Hobart on different versions of the 737. The seating was appalling - cramped legroom and seats with no proper support for shoulders or the lumbar region. A passenger next to me muttered never again unless there was no alternative.

FRA-SIN-SYD and return with 2 kids. Stopovers on both leg in SIN. FRA-SIN was 7 hours late because of some cabin safety light failure. We got stuck in the gate area for the night because the gate security stuff went home. It was hard to get blankets, we had to sleep on the floor. Finally departed, but the B747 was very old and used. No footrest, cabin ventilation was loud, headphones were unusable, cramped, old and uncomfortable seats. Staff service was focused on the basics - serving the meals and collecting the trays, then staff disappeared behind the curtains. SIN-SYD we got the same old B747 with the same experiences. Good part was that the flight last 5 hours shorter than FRA-SIN. SYD-SIN and SIN-FRA - The SYD check-in staff was inflexible and impolite, the lucky part of the flight was that the one of the flight attendant had the same nationality like ours so we got extra attention and help. The rest of the cabin crew were unwilling.

First Class SIN-MEL. Check in effortless. Straight to the gate and boarded through separate aero bridge for first class. Champagne offered and refilled 2 times before departure. Service was wonderfully friendly without being familiar or overbearing. I love QF soups and desserts but didn't enjoy the main course, but a colleague had the same and said she did so put it down to personal preference. Wine was excellent. Seat is great for lounging and the turn down service makes the bed very cosy. I chose not to be woken for breakfast on this short overnight flight but the crew were happy to offer an excellent latte and OJ on descent. Another example of the best Qantas can be.

MEL-HKG on A330 in business class. Old plane, toilets are a disgrace - smelly and dirty. Meal very average although snack was ok. Crew ok, video screen hard to see, used FF points and looking forward to return flight on Cathay to see if there is a difference. Would not fly QF unless using points.

Sydney to Bangkok return on an A330 both ways. The problem with Qantas is one of consistency and its that lack of consistency that translates into it being poor value for money. The equipment can vary from modern to tired-looking and the service offered by the flight attendants is similarly patchy. The flight from Sydney to Bangkok for instance was on a newish aircraft with poor service, while the return flight was on an older aircraft with good service. On the plus side however, both the IFE and the food were good. This was a points booking, so I was restricted in the choice of carrier. If I was paying for the ticket, I'd choose another airline.

Manila to Sydney flight was comfortable enough. Great amenities kit, plush pillows and warm blankets (too warm if you're layered in clothing). The quality of food is fantastic. Very good breadth of delicious mains. Good show on what Aussie food is all about. The chocolate truffle as an after dessert treat was excellent. Please give them freely inflight! Service is attentive and warm. The 2 cons for me are: aircraft is dated as well as interior and the entertainment system is not as advanced as flights to HKG or SIN.

Our flight from BNE to DUS via LHR/SIN was great. Cabin Crew did a great job - relaxed, warm, and welcoming! All Cabin crew staff members were pleasant. Australia starts or ends on board! Best inflight customer service experience so far. Inflight entertainment excellent. Meals were tasty, lots of variety.

Travelled Sydney-Johannesburg return in PE on 747 and received excellent levels of service. On boarding, immediately offered drinks and followed up with introduction, menus and quality meal selection with great service. Nothing was too much trouble to the crew. IFE selection was ample and after a few movies, was able to sleep. Its not business, but it is a very acceptable alternative. As a Platinum flyer, Qantas exceeded my expectations.

Flew HKG-BNE and SYD-HKG. A bit old A330 on the flight to Brisbane, tight "normal" economy class seating: not really comfortable. Difficult to sleep on the 9 hour flight. Good selection of movies and games, the screen just is too small. Return flight with a new A380 and new economy class. Seats more comfortable, but still unable to sleep well. However much better than A330. Inflight catering was average, nothing special. The best part of Qantas is cabin crew. Never seen better service on any airline! Extremely warm and relaxed attitude on board. I'll definitely fly Qantas again!

BKK-SYD, business class, A330. The seat was incredibly uncomfortable with some sort of metal bar just under the seat, that made it even harder and more awkward than it already was, in addition to the lack of privacy. Even when fully extended the seats have a decline. There were only 2 toilets in the whole business cabin. I am a vegetarian and my only option for breakfast was - nothing, as they now only serve croissants with ham in it and nothing else. Not even a muffin or basic pastry. The only positive was the cabin crew who did try their best. Unless I have no other option, I will avoid them in the future.

Perth - Melbourne - Hobart and return for Tasmanian holiday. Always fly Qantas from Perth to the east. Provided you have enough notice the fare is actually cheaper than other carriers once you factor in luggage, food and drink. Biggest plus though is if something goes wrong Qantas will look after you, while others will make you fend for yourself. Always look for A330 - a 4hrs + flight on a 737 is a nightmare. Seats comfortable enough. Not a huge amount of seat pitch and if person in front lays right back there is a problem with tray table and IFE. But if you ask nicely person in front will always sit up for a while to let you eat. IFE excellent - individual seat back screens. I fly across Australia and return several times a year and have never been late for a reason within Qantas' control.

Flew from Melbourne to Singapore (747) then onto Frankfurt (A380) and was most impressed with the leg room and comfort of the PE seat. Me being 196cm tall I felt much more comfortable and was even able to get some sleep! which has never happened before. The PE cabin crew were very pleasant and were always asking if we required a drink or a snack. Recommend this service.

Flew LAX to MEL on 3/12/12, then to Adelaide. Can't fault crew on any flight. However was in seat 64F on A380 against a bulkhead. No leg room plus had drunken passenger in front who kept on moving with seat fully back. More leg room required and some control over patrons who are obviously causing problems to other passengers.

Flew Sydney to Dallas FW on refurbished 747. Sleeper service good and full flat seat in business was spacious and very comfortable. Crew were excellent and attentive to passengers throughout the long flight. Delicious food. Although there is one less toilet on the upper deck of the refurbished 747, there were no people having to queue but the toilet is very small making it a bit tricky changing into Qantas PJ's. Overall a wonderful experience with professional and friendly crew.

MEL-ADL, QF697, 10/2/2013, Boeing 737-800 series Aircraft. Again what a pleasure to fly with Qantas. The check-in staff at Melbourne Airport very efficient and helpful. Welcomed by friendly smiling crew upon boarding. Aircraft was clean and seats were comfortable. Inflight entertainment was very good on this short flight. Announcements by the flight crew pointing out landmarks during the flight was as usual a lovely touch. The dinner served was excellent and service quick and efficient. I will continue to support and fly Qantas.

LHR-SYD-LHR via SIN on an A380. I was generally impressed with the Qantas experience. Flights were on- time. Crew were generally attentive and friendly on all sectors, though I noticed that the crew on the longer LHR-SIN and SIN-LHR sectors had a tendency to go out of their way for you more, with the Cabin Manager introducing himself personally to us, explaining the meal times for the flight etc at the beginning of those sectors. On the SYD-SIN sector the crew forgot to serve the desert listed on the menu (ice-cream) to the whole cabin, so I had to go to the galley the ask for it. The crew member concerned expressed surprise that they hadn't been handed out, she then searched the galley before finding a full box full of ice-creams which were duly handed out to everyone. The seat was comfortable with significantly more space than economy class, although the foot-rest was a bit uncomfortable. The catering was variable depending on the sector. Leaving London I thought the catering was rather poor and my menu choice had run out by the time they got to me. Leaving Singapore it was mostly good and leaving Sydney the catering was excellent. One consistently good point is that the cabin crew offered pre take-off drinks on every sector. They also came through the cabin during the night with snacks and drinks regularly. A good experience overall. Recommended.

Perth - Hong Kong and then Singapore - Perth. The rest of our trip to Europe and return was on other One World airlines and the difference is amazing. The cabin staff are always friendly, efficient and attentive. The food is good and there is always someone coming around with water and VOD has a good selection. Flying other airlines makes you appreciate how good Qantas is.

PER-BNE, flight was good, left on time arrived a bit late due to head wind. Service was good however one attendant was miserable, other two were very happy and helpful. Food was good with good choice of dishes. Aircraft condition good not too old. Very good entertainment choices wish the flight was longer to watch everything I wanted to. Overall a good experience not as good as international business with the sky beds but still good.

Have flown Qantas for many years but on this trip and my trip a month ago to Frankfurt have found the service to be significantly improved. Flew BNE-MEL, where the flight departed almost 30 minutes late. Evening flights always used to serve dinner, but we were only served a stale scone. Qantas' reputation as Australia's premium domestic carrier is losing its credibility, and the only real positive that I can outline for the flying kangaroo is its selection of beverages. However, I still have better experiences on Qantas than any of the other domestic carriers, so I would recommend the airline to friends and family....just.

Recently travelled from Sydney to Lord Howe Island. Due to bad weather we were unable to land at LHI. I would like to praise Qantas for the way they handled the situation. The staff kept us informed as to what was happening and apologised for the inconvenience. We had to return to Sydney and Qantas arranged for hotel accommodation overnight. Next day we flew to LHI again and this time landed without a problem.

BNE-SYD-HKG-SYD-BNE in a mixture of Premium Economy (and Economy for domestic legs), a tale of two airlines here. SYD-HKG was 'so-so' with a basic level of service and only one decent meal for an 8 hour flight, seemingly an age-old problem with Qantas. However, HKG-SYD, despite being a completely packed flight on the A380, was exceptional with two good meals and good wine served very professionally in Premium Economy (take note, please, Cathay!). As a Platinum Member, I had access to the Qantas' First Class Lounge in Sydney, which must rate as one of the world's best airline lounges. However, at Brisbane, the atmosphere was completely different with numerous odd character types coming into the lounge wearing only "singlet , shorts, and thongs" (flip-flops) and then proceeding to get drunk in the lounge while I was trying to do some work. My local pub has higher dress standards than Qantas and some of their Business Lounges!

QF8, BNE-SYD, B744 and QF23, SYD-BKK, A333. BNE-SYD sector was faultless and the best cabin crew I have experienced. Comfort on newly configured B744s is great. SYD-BKK sector was the complete opposite unfortunately. Cabin crew on our side of the business class cabin were disinterested and miserable, especially the male attendant who appeared anxious and withdrawn. It's amazing just how much difference the cabin crew can make to your flight! CSM was brilliant but only worked on the LHS of the cabin and I was jealous of the service that side of aircraft was receiving compared to us. I was amazed that QF only offer one meal service on this 9 hour flight. The snack anytime menu is available but once you have one snack, you aren't allowed a second snack in case other passengers miss out. I think Qantas have really cut back on the level of catering they load onto their planes as this should not occur in Business Class - especially when you pay >$3k one way. Staff should be attending to your every need and request - a stark contrast to my experience in J class Cathay Pacific a fortnight earlier. This was my first time on an A333 service to Bangkok and it really doesn't compare to the old B744 service. We travel to BKK several times each year. Unless our trip home next week is vastly different to this flight, I'll be trying MH or routing via SIN which is a shame. Come on QF - you can do better!

SYD-LAX on new A380. Welcoming and smiling crew. Half empty airplane, so service relaxed. Was served hot food twice on this 14 hour flight, plus constant rounds of drinks/snacks/fruits through the flight - all to the addition of the self-service bar at the end of the aircraft where you can help yourself into some snacks/soft drinks at any time! Great entertainment selection. The seat cushioning was, however, a bit too hard for such a long flight. Recommended.

QF127 Sydney - Hong Kong, QF030 Hong Kong - Melbourne, and QF420 Melbourne - Sydney. Pleasant time across all 3 sectors. Cabin service was hassle-free, and ran like clockwork. Cockpit crew provided updated information on both regular and ad hoc basis. Cabin crew were pleasant and down-to-earth, which made them easily approachable by the passengers. Further more, meals were adequate, tasty, and most of all, nutritious, reflecting true Australian hospitality. I will definitely fly with them again in the future. A minor note on the QF127 Sydney - Hong Kong sector. When the plane took off from Sydney airport, water leaked from the air conditioning overhead outlet. Drops of water landed between a passenger and the window. Once the plane reached the flying altitude, water stopped dropping, indicating the age of the 747 Jumbo Jet.

Flew JFK-LAX-SYD in business on one of the new version 747's. As always service was good, staff pleasant and friendly and I like the way they are laid back but still professional. Let down at SYdney airport by my bags being pretty much last off. It's not good enough - had to wait 40 mins. I know it is only a small thing but I pay a premium for sitting up the front and expect to get a better service so it is disappointing when you see others getting their bags before you do.

Dallas to Sydney return. Food was inedible! Food services at Dallas are closed prior to planes departure so it made for a long 16 hour flight. Staff service was below average, not friendly and what service they did offer was rushed. I am a long standing Qantas frequent flyer, however I will now forced to support other airlines. The price, service and cabin is not worth it. I have always been a strong supporter of this airline, however I could not recommend to anyone.

SIN-AKL via BNE as QF 52 and 123. Originally booked a flight on Qantas via SYD so I could fly A380 for the first time. Unfortunately I got a phone call from Qantas the day before the flight saying that I had been bumped off QF 2 to SYD and instead put on a flight via BNE on a Boeing 747. The flight was fine, food was good as was the entertainment and the service was also very good. The legroom however was absolutely terrible and it was as bad as short-haul low cost airlines. As I am 6ft 3, the Qantas legroom is a disgrace and pack you in like sardines. BNE-AKL, 737 flight was fine except legroom was still an issue and we arrived at AKL 25 mins late which meant I missed my NZ connection to NSN. Rating would be better had it not been for arriving late and Qantas bumping me off the A380.

MEL-JFK return. Easy and comfortable flights with flat bed seats (on both A380 and 747) and no fuss but efficient service. Seats are hard but this is offset by the new sleep service padding and duvet. Managed to sleep comfortably most of the flight. Top deck of the 747 (fitted with the new seats) was just as good if not better than the A380. The old first class seats are available in the nose of some of the 747s for business class fares - these are very dated but also comfortable (fully flat bed). In my opinion the food was good but not as good as other carriers (eg SQ). One world lounge at LAX on return flight was too full (not a single seat available) but cleared out eventually.

PER-SYD: QF582. Originally booked on QF 566, however arrived at airport earlier and Qantas assistant transferred me onto an earlier flight without any hesitation. Flight departed on time, arrived early into Sydney. Refurbished 767 with seat back iPad. There was a good selection of TV shows, though only a limited number of movies. Outstanding cabin crew on this leg, probably the best I have seen on a domestic flight. Also impressed with the informative commentary coming from the cockpit. Overall, a very professional crew and an enjoyable flight over East. Highly recommended.

Flew A380 from LAX to Sydney. While the seat pitch was good - not great, the leg rest did not raise up high enough to be comfortable. Another 2-3 inches would of made a big difference.

QF001, A380, 29/12/12, SYD-LHR, Business Class. A380 as usual a fantastic aircraft for these long-haul trips, better air/less noise etc. Unfortunately I found the Business Class seats uncomfortable (hard ridge middle of back) and their inability to go entirely flat (contrast Cathay and BA amongst others), disappointing. The real surprise, however, was how poor the business class food and beverage package was on this flight. If Neil Perry cooked food like he puts his name to on Qantas in Rockpool, he would quickly lose his customers! I tried everything on the menu and ended up sending most plates back after a few tastes! The wine list was enormous and very promising, only to be let down by having only a couple available to choose from. I was surprised to be thinking how much better my BA outbound experience had been. Come on Qantas you should be doing better than this! Stewards pleasant and professional, though could do with a better gender balance.

Good flight on QF127, Sydney to Hong Kong, even though we waited for 2.5 hours on the plane, before departure, for a problem re minimally damaged hold. Business class on A380 is very quiet and comfortable. Food service a little haphazard - but quality of meal ok and staff very pleasant. In the lounge (awaiting a flight to London) I realised I had left my reading glasses on the plane. What a pleasant surprise to be called at the lounge, with the advice that my glasses would be delivered to reception. I must say, the Pork Dumplings in the lounge are fantastic.

Returning from Singapore to Melbourne last Wednesday night on AK10 which was the A380. Purchased exit row seats so was comfortable but looking around, very cramped for others. Couldn't locate any foot rests which we would have liked. Inflight movie selection was very good despite the touchscreen being a tad slow. Noticed the number of loos were lesser than a normal plane as people were lining up the whole trip to use them. Washroom had no hand creams etc. Food and beverage quality and variety were dismal, but not rating on the self serve pantry as no one told us about it. Staff service was almost nil. Barely civil but made lots of us feel like we were a bother to them. Only saw the crew at certain points, ie: wordlessly almost throw night pack at us. Unfortunately I have to fly Qantas on business trips via work but unlikely to fly Qantas on personal trips again.

Return trip AKL to BKK via Sydney. The attention to safety was comforting and the food was fine. The crew members on the flight over on Dec 22 were very pleasant, but the crew coming back on Jan 15 were not nearly as welcoming and, in fact, were quite 'short' to some passengers. This was disappointing.

Business Class from Singapore to Sydney. We used our points to upgrade from Premium Economy to Business. Seats are comfortable and fully recline - and we got a good sleep. Dinner was excellent and beverage service accommodating. Overall service was efficient. My only criticism is the 'attitude' of some female flight attendants, I am used to the great service and friendly approach of flights attendants on Qantas Domestic Business Class - but I do not understand how Qantas can expect to deliver high quality customer service on an international route when Flight Attendants cannot even raise a smile while providing service.
