LAX-SYD return business class. Everything was OK, and nothing more. Starting with the Lounge at
LAX, which doubles as an American Airlines lounge, we got 2 free drink tickets. So after $18,000 I
pay for my 3rd drink? Don't insult me. The snacks were just that - crackers and cheese, with the
world's smallest sandwiches - mostly bread, and not what you'd expect for International Business
Class tickets. To compound lounge issues, our flight was not announced, and we were among the last
to board, unintentionally. Onboard, no drink was offered to me upon sitting down. Some folks got
one, and some didn't. I asked and finally got one. 90 minutes into the flight, and again, no
drinks, snacks, etc. were offered. Finally, the dinner order was taken and service began. The meal
was just adequate and nothing more. The seats are comfortable when you're not sleeping, and OK
(nothing more) when you fully recline. Like others, I found myself slipping down the "fully flat",
but "inclined" bed. They are not competitive with the new breed of Business Class seats offered on
many other airlines. One gets the feeling that Qantas if flying on a route with little competition,
and that's the case. Funny how that works: Little competition leads to shockingly high prices and
mediocre products and services. Message to Qantas: Excellence is a good thing. Give it a try.

MEL-SYD-MEL checked in online so it was easy to print boarding passes at Q check in at both
airports. MEL-SYD the aircraft was generally clean. Full flights both ways. Outbound served a lunch.
Entertainment was working. Their website is misleading when it says you are served beer or wine on
flights after 12pm which is not true. They dont serve any complimentary alcohol until 4pm but can be
purchased. Crew were rude and no smiles like doing you a big favour. Flight arrived on time. SYD-MEL
the CSM announced no IFE only apologies. The window seat where I was seated had food like tomato
sauce on the seat. They serve cold sandwiches on these flights. Nothing great - not worth paying the
extra for the frills which they advertise a full service carrier and they fail to provide. I would
not fly Qantas again unless they have bargain fares.

BKK-LHR. Flew in newly fitted out 747 Aircraft in Economy. Seat pitch not great, however the actual
seat is comfortable. Inflight service from a crew which lacked in personality, somewhat mechanical.
Meals more than adequate, served a snack pack after main meal service and saved a trip to the galley
during the night. A pretty good service though could have been improved by a more 'interested' cabin crew.

BNE-AKL-CHC-AKL-BNE. Departure delayed 40 mins due to crew issues. However, Captain kept passengers
informed regarding issue. Full B737-800 to Auckland. Clean and well presented aircraft and we
arrived only ten minutes late even with delay. No shortage of food and drinks. F/A's very friendly.
Auckland to Christchurch return on B737-300's. Aircraft showing age however, was also clean and well
presented. Kiwi F/A were great and handed out lots of food and drinks for 1.2 hour flight. Auckland
to Brisbane on a B737-400. Flight was on time. Seated in emergency exit row seat. Plenty of space in
this area. Seats do not recline in exit rows. On all sectors flight crew were friendly and smiled.
Would fly Qantas again. Purchased tickets while they were on sale so great value for money.

BNE-DRW return. Travel on a B767-300 is worth it on these longer hauls in Australia, especially with
a full aircraft and this type of aircraft operates the BNE-DRW run. Surprising but welcome upgrades
to business class both ways and this enabled me to get some work done. Quite good food, especially
on the return late lunch-time leg with good quality wine and coffee offered. Flights close to on-
time. Very useful aspect of using the Valet Parking and associated check-in facilities at Qantas
Brisbane Domestic Terminal. Overall, a pleasant experience.

Melbourne to Manila - a 10-hour flight which actually took us 30 hours. Melbourne to Sydney,
scheduled to leave Tullamarine Airport at 1100 hours. Because of “mechanical problems”, this flight
was late out of the starting gate, and we landed at Sydney just before 1300 hours. When we reached
the transfers desk Qantas staff informed us that our plane had already left, and that arrangements
would be made to put us on the next available flight. We had to wait 4 hours before being put on
QF31 to Singapore. There, we were told we could catch a connecting flight to Manila. Like our
previous flight, landed late in Singapore. We almost made connection, but for some inexplicable
reason, the four of us were bumped off the connecting flight. We were stranded in Singapore until
the following morning, so that by the time we got to Manila, it was 30 hours after we had left
Melbourne.

Sydney-Adelaide return Economy. On time departures both way, cheery crews. Very tight legroom in
B737-800, less cramped in older 737-400. I increasingly question that Qantas is a full-service
airline however. The snacks they hand out are fairly pointless. Worse is the announcement that they
will give you a beer or wine since the flight is after 4pm. And why no 'free' drink on a weekend?
It's not as if the flights are any cheaper. I suppose at least you don't have to pay to watch the news!

BKK-LHR in Business. Very friendly service. Very late departure from Bangkok but food was served
quickly but it was almost inedible. The breakfast wasn´t much better either. The seats are fine,
good selection of movies. Usual problems at Heathrow but not Qantas fault.

JFK-SYD return. Outbound sector JFK to LAX stopover was relatively good in terms of service provided
by a pleasant and friendly crew, which made the inevitable JFK evening delay in taking off pass by
quickly. Unfortunately with the crew changeover at LAX, they were replaced by one of the most surly
cabin crews I've ever come across for the longer LAX/SYD leg, who were mostly interested in
providing minimal service at best. While in Australia, my partner & I flew several legs with
Jetstar, and found the service much friendlier. On the return flight, my partner (an Australian who
frequently flies SYD-JFK) applied for an upgrade and was denied, apparently Qantas makes its upgrade
decisions 8 hours before departure, and the remaining 6 seats in Business were supposedly snapped up
after we last checked for availability less than 24 hours prior to departure. Seems like an odd
business practice to me. During boarding (which was through the business cabin), we noticed many
business seats were empty. Both legs of the return sector were operated with a much more pleasant
crew, although it certainly seems like the QF cabin crew prefers to work the shorter and less-
crowded JFK-LAX-JFK legs more. The exit row seats are also extremely comfortable. Two major pluses
for Qantas, however, is that they have very good inflight meals and one of the best and thorough IFE
selections I have come across. I'm not certain if that makes up for the uneven service. Will look
into other options for the next flight to Sydney (Air Tahiti Nui & United), as Qantas seems to
believe that they have a virtual monopoly on all routes from the US to Australia.

MEL-SIN on Economy. The check in process was pretty smooth at Mel. B747-400, even though the cabin
was clean, has clearly seen better days. The seat recline was ok, but the equipment box underneath
made the journey a bit uncomfortable. AVOD was ok, but selections were a bit limited. The meals were inedible. Overall, value for money.

Qantas domestic Business class for connecting and returning International flights. Efficient check
in (online for Brisbane-Sydney leg). Lovely lounge with great coffee in all three lounges both in
Australia and Asian airport. Greeted by name on board. Comfortable seat, plenty of legroom as was
in seat 1A. Delicious breakfast, great coffee and attentive service. Same excellent standards on
return leg Sydney-Brisbane after overnight flight from Asia (was checked through to Brisbane by
staff at airport in Asia, seat 2A). Vegetable frittata and fresh fruit for breakfast. Have flown
business with Qantas (domestic and internationally), and give them 5 stars for an excellent product
domestically.

LON-SYD Business/First.Great service, nice food and excellent interactive entertainment system.
Seats in business are comfortable, but not truly flat. First Class is what is expected and very
comfortable. The first lounge in Sydney is amazing, possibly the best I have ever experienced, with
the emphasis on beautiful retro interior design, truly excellent showers and freshly prepared
restaurant quality food.

Three return economy trips Vancouver to Sydney in the last four months, two on Qantas via USA.
Qantas FA's reasonably efficient until something goes wrong, (eg non-reclining seat on a full
flight), then they don't want to know and avoid you like the plague. Ground staff in LAX disappeared
long before last PAX cleared US immigration on one flight; somewhat inconvenient when connections
were missed due to late arrival. Only access to the Qantas first class lounge in Sydney makes the
route tolerable; sometimes.

LHR-MEL via HKG. Check-in at Heathrow was a breeze, and was served in about 5 minutes. My bag was
about 3kg over, but the charge was waived. Onboard, the flight was fairly empty, so had a good
window seat, with middle left free. Staff friendly and welcoming, more than happy to assist
passengers with bags, transfer queries etc, and proactive throughout the long sector to HKG (lots of
water and juice runs) and always had a smile! Transfer in HKG was very quick and easy: I think it's
anticipated that passengers are going to be groggy from the flight, so a transfer card is forced
into your hand by the Cathay staff, and you're branded with a Qantas sticker so you don't wander
off! Only on the ground for an hour or so. Lots of space again, great crew, superb AVOD in-flight
entertainment and managed to sleep for a number of hours, and arrived on-time into Melbourne. And
for the price I paid for the return trip (850 pounds including a stopover in Shanghai) I can't fault
Qantas.

BNE-SYD-BNE over two days in Economy. Qantas planes used were 767s and they were in good, clean
condition. BNE-SYD ontime with very polite and friendly crew who were chatty. Hot dinner was
provided - chicken in white wine and was delicious. SYD-BNE delayed slightly, snack served and crew
were again very friendly and smiling. I was very surprised as it seems QF have lifted their game in
domestic again. Only downside is the inflight entertainment - you can barely see the screen on the
767s and the programming is boring, with advertisements. If this type of service continues I will
continue to choose QF over DJ.

BNE-MEL. Self check in easy to use. Seat 1F on 737-800 very comfortable. Warm welcome from the
cabin crew, jacket hung, juice, water and papers offered. A hot afternoon snack was served.
Announcements from cabin crew and pilots were clear and informative.
