Sydney to Los Angeles return. I have not flown long haul to the US for several years so was
interested in what QF service was like now. After travelling with them this time, I would not
fly with them again. The flight over was full and I was seated in second to last row. I was
extremely uncomfortable as my legs were hitting the chair in front the entire flight. I
ordered a special meal which was very average. It was exactly the same on the return flight.

Business Class on the new A380 SYD-LHR and the best Business Class experience I have had. I
Check in marvellous at SYD airport, a friendly welcome on board. Inflight service was first-
rate, meals were good, wine options very nice and I caught up on a few movies I was keen to
see. A fully flat bed at around 200cm is great. I like the self-serve bar area and the lounge
area as a place to stretch your legs and sit somewhere different. I am glad my company pays
for the flight as I couldn't afford it.

I am so frustrated with Qantas. I have been trying to get my change of address recorded
against my frequent flyer membership, but over the years during three moves of address I have
lost my pin number. I have tried phoning Qantas in Hong Kong where I live, I have tried
online, but there is always a problem, the Hong Kong office tried but they couldn't get into
the computer, and I even tried phoning the Frequent Flier office in Australia several times,
but they were always engaged. I can't find out what points I have accumulated without the
pin number. I don't know what else to try.

Broome-Perth-Melbourne. 737-800 BME-PER aircraft in good condition. Cant say much for Legroom,
At 6.4" Knees were digging into the seat infront of me all flight. Flight was 100% full
Per-Mel was on a A330-200 was very good flight. managed to get an Emergency row which was
great for legroom. I always fly Qantas as they are friendly and offer the best flight times
for me.

MEL-LAX. I was booked in premium economy however as the cabin wasn’t operating on this leg I
was upgraded to business class – Seated on the upper deck. The experience was good. Loved the
PJ’s and amenity kits. The meal was excellent. The cabin crew seem disinterested in the
passengers. Skybed on the 747 very hard, and you could really feel the bars in it. The angle
also felt strange (like slipping off the bed) – having said that I was on a free upgrade so
wasn’t complaining. The IFE didn’t have as many options as I’d expected. Overall for a free
upgrade I was happy with the flight, although if I had have been a full paying customer I
would have been disappointed with the level of service.

LAX-SYD. After my free upgrade to business on the outward trip I was dreading the return in
Economy on the way home. However the A380 surprised me as to the level of comfort and service
it provided. I was seated in almost the last row of economy however found the seat to be
really comfortable, recline excellent and comfortable. The overhead bids (and air vents) are
quite high and I had to unbuckle to reach them. IFE was much better than on the 747 with much
more content. The service by crew was excellent. Hot towels provided after take off, followed
by a few beers with the meal. After meals were taken away the cabin was dimmed for sleep and
provided with little snack bags which contained water, fruit snacks, cookies, peppermints and
other little snacks. The self service snack bar was great - a nice place for people to have
a chat, stretch your legs and grab a snack/soft drink. Flight slightly delayed out of LAX, but
we got into SYD pretty much on time. I was able to get about the same amount of sleep as I did
in business. The crew were fantastic and very eager to assist everyone. The service across the
full length of the flight was consistently excellent.

Perth to Broome return. Lunch on first flight was tasteless and the hot dinner on the return
flight was a lukewarm & awful. You have to pay for drinks on QF so you actually just end up
paying a premium for some very average food. A couple of the FAs were pleasant, others quite
abrupt and having a bad day. Hard to recommend QF on these flights.

LHR-SIN and back. Never really had a bad experience with Qantas always depart and land on
time. Good entertainment for a 12 hr flight though not as on par with SQ. FA seldom made snack
rounds and the only snacks will be the snack bag and it is puny. Just a bottle of water,
cookies and an apple. Qantas is a much cheaper alternative to SQ. Qantas does lives up to its
four star ranking (no hot towels before taking off or any amenity bags provided.)

AKL-WLG : flight time 40 minutes but a full service was provided including headphones for the
overhead IFE, sandwiches and a choice of drinks including wine or beer. This was seriously
good value for money at £27.

HKG-PER-HKG. Both flights excellent. QF now use their A330s between HKG and PER and the
Skybed allowed for an excellent sleep on the overnight sector. Food and beverage of usual
high quality. The crew on both sectors were outstanding - normally there's at least one
member with bad attitude.

ADL-BNE one way in economy. Full flight and could not get emergency exit which makes any
flight longer than 1 hour very painful as I am 6'7" tall. B737-800 in very good condition.
Very fortunate to have one of the only vacant middle seats next to me. Still my knees had
various painful encounters with the carts used for serving breakfast and drinks. Staff very
apologetic each time and very pleasant. Breakfast service good and free coffee/tea served.
Morning news shown on the overhead monitors as well as an episode of some comedy. Will
continue to fly QF as long as they are competitive but prefer DJ if they fly an Embraer 190 on
the same route.

This was my first flight with Qantas and also my first on the new A380. Both scored high
marks. You do not notice the size of the aircraft either before or during the flight.
Boarding at London Heathrow is via a long tunnel-like bridge to a door in the side of a hull
that could have been almost any aircraft and the business class cabin is spacious but not
outstandingly large. Seating is two plus two plus two across and each seat is only an average
width, the sort that will leave those passengers with an extra wide beam quite squashed. One
nice feature of my window seat was the storage bin beneath the window. It was large enough to
hold all the junk that accumulates to make most seat surrounds look like the aftermath of a
recent hurricane strike by the end of a long flight. The cabin is decorated in subdued tones
of gray and the only colour was in the exit signs and the indicators if the wash rooms were
free or occupied. The seats are contained in a shell and the seat in front is far enough
forward to allow a window seat passenger adequate access to the aisle when the seats are flat.
They recline to the fully flat position and are comfortable there. Some airlines have business
seats that are far from pleasant. Qantas also supplies a decent pillow and a thick
duvet/blanket unlike the Emirates Business class blanket which is flimsy enough to spit
through. Push back was delayed some twenty minutes due to air-traffic congestion and we
subsequently arrived in Singapore fifteen minutes late. Cabin service was unobtrusive but
efficient and during the night the cabin was patrolled by a crew member with a torch. The meal
service was brisk. White table cloths were in place with good steel implements apart from two
plastic knives. Courses were served individually but otherwise the service was reminiscent of
the better economy services in the past. Some downgrading in these hard times for airlines is
apparent. One noticeable and pleasant feature was the silence in the cabin. Not only that
engine noise on the upper deck seems quieter but there was no boarding music and absolutely no
chatter on the PA. The Captain came on to say who he was, where we were going and how long it
would take, then the crew demonstrated the safety features. After than there was almost twelve
hour's silence until the crew said it was time wake up and get ready for arrival. Bliss!
The in-flight mapping available on our individual screens was the best I have come across.
Every airline has its own and some are plain awful. Emirates has one of the worst with a
sequence of maps most of which are meaningless and even then are interrupted every few minutes
by an irritating advertisement that seems to last forever. Qantas has a short sequence of
useful maps with nothing to interrupt. One day we might be able to choose the map format that
seems most suitable and leave that on permanently. Of course there were a few 'could do
better' points. Boarding was economy class budget airline standard. Business Class and Premium
Economy occupy the upper deck and board through one gate. First and economy passengers on the
lower deck board through a gate somewhere else. The upper deck gate was staffed by one person
who checked each passenger against passport and boarding card. When boarding was called a long
and orderly single line formed and as most of the seats on that deck are allocated to premium
economy and the total number to board though this gate would outnumber a couple of 737s it
took a good thirty minutes to clear the line. Business Class passengers might reasonably
expect a dedicated line for their boarding. Qantas links its catering to Rockpool, a well
known restaurant on Sydney where I have had more than one excellent meal. My order for lunch
was for the Argentinean Beef Filet and before accepting it the FA advised me that it was
served rare to very rare. Just right. It was actually served very well done. If you had asked
for it like this in Rockpool I think the chef might have come out personally and told you
where you might take your business. In each seat pocket is a booklet about Qantas and
Australian wine, with a few NZ wines as well.. There is a very long list of approved wines
that may be served on individual flights and to different classes. The provided menu did not
list which ones were actually served on this flight and so I picked one I knew and liked. A NZ
Sauvignon Blanc. When the drinks order was taken it was carefully noted but the wine served
with no comment was an indifferent Chardonnay. During the lunch service I switched to a red
and asked which were carried. Only two reds were available in Business Class, neither was well
known nor remarkable but would be perfectly adequate if they had not been served as cold as a
well chilled white wine. It is a pity that Qantas go to the trouble of writing about
Australian wines then not being proud enough to name the served wine and serve it correctly.
Come on Qantas, Australia makes some good wines - wave them about a bit and serve them
properly. These could do better points noted, it was still a good flight and one I would be
more than happy to repeat.

CBR-MEL-HBA-MEL-CBR economy. All flights on time, friendly and efficient service. In
retrospect too much food - breakfast available and offered both on CBR-MEL and MEL to HBA, but
that's the joy of two early morning inter-connecting flights. I know there are some bad
apples among Qantas service crew on domestic routes, but all these staff were happy, helpful
and extremely pleasant.

EZE-SYD, SYD-MEL, ADL-SYD , SYD-EZE on Qantas aircraft (747, 767 and 737). Aircraft in good
condition, inflight entertainment very good. Meal service excellent, they also hand you a bag
with water, candies and chips during nightime. Fresh fruit was given too, which was very nice.
Flight attendants were nice. Domestic flights service was OK, nice cupcakes given on SYD-MEL
and complete breakfast on ADL-SYD. Probably one of the best options for travelling between
South America and Australia (LAN is good too, not Aerolineas Argentinas please)
