MAN - Las Vegas McCarran. Superb flight. Friendly cabin crew and good
meals. In flight entertainment was fine, good movies and audio channels.
Inbound flight better - more advanced entertainment system with seat-
back TVs and a video feed from the aircraft nose and undercarriage.
Would happily fly with MyTravel again!

Recently my wife and I traveled to Vancouver from Gatwick on one of your
special flights and we decided to take the opportunity to upgrade our
seats as we could get a few “as you might say additional perks”. We
left Gatwick on MYT009 at 0830hrs on Sunday 11th September and returned
from Vancouver on MYT098 at 1420hrs on Saturday 1st October.
On the flight to Vancouver we did understand that we would stop at
Edmonton, Alberta, but we did not expect to have to actually exit the
aircraft, collect our baggage and then have to go through all the check-
in and security procedures all over again and board the same plane…this
was absolutely ridiculous and may I add, we were not the only travelers
to complain about this strange occurrence, as on your competitor flights
this does not happen. On our return journey the flight was late arriving
in Vancouver making it late for departure and also it was designated as
a domestic flight. This of course meant that we could not use the duty
free services in Vancouver airport (what a pity) and we were told we
could get duty free on board (sounded OK…until we saw what we could
get…there was not one item of Canadian origin that was for sale that we
could bring back for ourselves or our friends as mementos - such poor
foresight). We then decided to purchase some Vodka for relatives, but
when they came to us we discovered that they were all sold out. You see
they started at the front right of the plane in premier class and went
right to the back of the plane, crossed over and then worked their way
up to the front again - so much for perks. Finally when we landed late
at Gatwick we realized that we only had 90 mins to make our connecting
flight to Belfast. We had to wait a whole 60 mins for our baggage to
arrive and we did miss our next flight. The meal on each flight was
always below average. The cabin crew tried hard but just fell short of
acceptable, and the cabin temperature was too hot. The only good thing
was the premium seats were fine. All in all I would rate my flying
experience with My Travel Airways about a 1 out of 10, and my wife and I
have already booked another holiday to Vancouver for next year, and we
haven’t booked it with My Travel Airways. Maybe in the future when My
Travel Airways catches up with the other tour operators we might
consider flying with them again.

Toronto to Gatwick, October 2005. The flight suffered from a 6 hour
delay due to "mechanical failure" (some chump drove a loading truck into
the outward flight at Gatwick, and another plane was sourced from
Glasgow) but this was made clear at check-in and $12 vouchers provided
for airport food or purchases on-board. Not much information during the
later stages of the delay, but the plane was en route by then and there
was not much to do but wait. The plane itself was OK, not fantastic
legroom, but the flight wasn't full - immediately the seatbelt sign went
off, people made for the 3-seat sections in the centre to try and sleep.
Extra toilets downstairs minimised queuing. There were seat-back TVs,
although not all advertised entertainment was available (probably less
than half) and the picture wasn't great. Why have such a system and then
rely on videos rather than DVDs? Food was basic, looked and smelled like
a cheap microwave meal, with "dinner" (pasta with tomato and cheese)
served just after our eventual takeoff at midnight, and a small
breakfast (muffin, juice and nutrigrain bar) before landing. Overall,
reasonably good, although not as good as Thomas Cook who we flew with on
the outward leg.

LGW to MIR return. Gatwick check-in was well organised and pretty swift,
the flight left only a couple of minutes late (after having to wait for
passengers whose luggage was about to be off-loaded). Seating on the
Airbus A320, with 180 seats, was cramped - but cabin crew service and
food was fine (roll and butter, chicken bake, chocolate dessert, cheese,
biscuits and coffee). Landed ahead of schedule. Return trip – check-in
was swift and organised. Cabin cramped, but service good. The meal was
adequate for a flight of less than 3 hours (roll and butter, sausage
mash and peas, chocolate dessert, cheese, biscuits and coffee). It may
be that we were fortunate, but on this particular experience I would not
hesitate to fly a short hop with MyTravel again.

Travelled from Manchester to Sanford on 6th Sept. Took off an hour late
due to fog but made that up during the flight. Outbound flight was much
better than expected - I'm 5' 8" and had plenty of legroom, the chair
width was not that great though and I'm only 10 stone so not that big.
There were seatback tv's and we had downstairs toilets which was a bit
of a novelty. The one thing that I was disgusted with was no free water
on a 9 and a half hour flight. This is really unacceptable. I
knew about this in advance so bought 3 litres in the airport, however
being told that we should drink plenty of water during the safety
display was laughable - who is going to drink plenty of
water at their prices? I found the food to be fine, however I'm veggie
and I've found we tend to get nicer meals for some reason. The return
flight was delayed for 50 mins - not sure why - but again this was made
up during the flight. This plane did not have seat back tv's but as it
was a night flight people were probably expected to sleep some of the
time. Again the meal was fine.

Manchester to Las Vegas on the 7th September, the seats were very cramped
the food such as it was barely edible, water had to be purchased at £1 a bottle (33cl) equivalent to
£3 a litre, considering the fact that passengers are encouraged to drink plenty of water to avoid
dehydration, I consider this unacceptable. The flight attendants did not appear to be very well trained, the toilets were never checked, no
soap for washing your hand and toilet paper running out.
In flight entertainment was overhead central tv screens, and poor quality sound on earphones
purchased at £2.50 a set. I would never use MyTravel for a long haul flight ever again and would rate them as the worst
airline I have ever used. If you must use them I advise you to take some snacks plenty of water and some soap and toilet
paper.

I have just returned from Crete (HER) flying with MYT on their BHX-HER
route. Having booked only 24hrs before departure, I had no real
complaint other than the seating arrangements, which were appalling.
Squeezing my 6' frame into such a small space for 4hrs was most
uncomfortable to say the least and was not helped by the bar midway up
the back seat cushion (if one can call it that), pressing into my spine
for the duration of the flight. Booking last minute, I opted not to
take the in-flight meals but the offer it to you anyway (I should point
out that we refused this). The return flight departed HER at
01.10 and with a 2hr drive ahead of me from BHX, tried to get some
sleep. Little chance due to the leg room and seat bar again and being
woken up by the FA handing me the meal that I had not ordered or paid
for. Once again I declined this so am unable to comment on the quality
of said sausage and mash! I know MYT is a charter airline and to be
fair, I did book very late and to a degree, accept that had there been a
larger seat pitch due to fewer seats, then I may not have got
on to the flight. Finally, when leaving the aircraft at HER, the FA
reminded those pax on flight only (as I was), to reconfirm before their
return flight. I did try but the information given in the accompanying
leaflet with my ticket issued at BHX and still bearing the Airtours name
and logo, gave a number to call in Crete which when dialling, all I got
was a greek operator telling me the number had changed. Despite my
attempts to follow her instructions to redial adding a 2 and 0
somehere in the number, I never did manage to get through! Just need
to find another cheap holiday somewhere so that I can relax while my
back and legs recover.

Travelled with My Travel and Airtours from Gatwick to La Romana in the Dominican
Republic in August 2005. This flight has a stopover in Manchester both ways to pick
up more passengers - this is a total nightmare, of which we were not informed of when
booking. We paid £199 each for Premiair Gold, which was a godsend, considering we
were on the aircraft for over 12 hours each way!! The service outward bound was ok,
but we had to get off at Manchester as there was a 90 minute delay. The service
homebound was not so good, they were very short staffed and we did not get the
comfort packs that we were promised!! One lady had a small boy, who was a real angel
on both flights, she had paid full price for the upgrade and didn't even get a childs
meal for him! When we landed at Manchester, and a lot of passengers disembarked, you
can imagine our delight when the Captain said that we were ahead of schedule and
there would be a 40 minute turnaround time to get us back in the air to Gatwick.
Over 90 minutes later, we were still sitting there on the plane - why?
Well - they had lost a passenger, they did about 6 headcounts and decided that
someone had got off at Manchester by mistake!! We were all totally exhausted by this
time and just wanted to go home!! A gentleman then very casually got on the plane,
with a flight bag ( I can only assume he was flight crew, but not in uniform). The
hostess said 'thank goodness' to him, and he sat down. I cannot believe that the
crew did not know that they were to pick up an extra passenger at Manchester!!! They
just kept counting and recounting!! We then had to wait for the aircraft to refuel,
which tool another 30 minutes. We all got to Gatwick eventually - very tired and
extremely cheesed off. My Travel - I am sorry, but you will not be getting my custom
ever again - a flight from hell and paid an extra £1800 (as there were nine of us)
for the upgrade privelege!

Just got back from holiday in Cyprus. Outbound flight was delayed by 5 hours, no
clear reason given rumoured to be either technical fault or crew shortage). We
eventually flew out on a 22-year old Tristar chartered from EuroAtlantic Airways. Return journey was delayed by 23 hours
due to technical fault (they actually had two aircraft with faults at the same time, so
neither the Manchester nor Gatwick flights to Larnaca arrived that night). Flew home the next
night on a MyTravel A320, which immediately brought back memories of the only other time I've
flown with MyTravel (to & from Florida on an A330). Apart from virtually no legroom, the seats
on MyTravel Airbuses are the most uncomfortable I've used in well over 300 flights. There's a
hard bar across the back of the seat squab which doesn't allow you to press the base of your spine
into the backrest, but forces your bottom forward (ahead of the bar) so that you're in a kind
of slouching position. There's another bar across the back of the seat at lumbar level which is
very uncomfortable as it digs into your back. In addition, the food is barely average,
and any extras are over-priced. I know that all charter airlines have to keep costs down, but with
MyTravel it's just so much more obvious that everything's done on the cheap. I will not be flying
with MyTravel again.

Flew long haul with My Travel to Edmonton, Canada. Seats were pre-booked with extra leg room.
At Gatwick we were allocated different seats and after protest were allocated one of the booked
seats and one cramped in the corner of row 9 up against the bulkhead. People in those seats had
been advised to arrive 3 hours early to get leg room without having to pay (waste of time for
them). Flight delayed two hours due to wrongly loaded cargo and plane out of trim. Flight deck
dirty as no cleaner could be found. A good start to the holiday? Same story on return.
Allocated different seats again. This time it worked in our favour as, due to cancellation of
original flight, we lost the extra leg room seats as they were all taken. Somehow we were
allocated extra leg room seats in row 32 which is directly behind the access to the downstairs
wash rooms. Some extra leg room at times, but most of the time we were avoiding people standing
at the top of the stairs queuing for the wash rooms. Some one else must have been moved to
accomodate us. Return flight was good with attentive cabin staff and food was good. Booking
system is chaotic and does not work in practice. The seat pitch in economy is awful. 29 inches
for a flight of 8.5 hours is ridiculous. I will not be using My Travel again. If I did, an
upgrade would be the only way to fly long haul in an Airbus 330.

Just returned from Las vegas with My Travel. I had previously read the reviews and was worried
about the seat pitch. However, I found the leg room better than expected and on a long flight
much appreciated. The flight to vegas was on time, 2-4-2 seating arrangement. The cabin crew
were polite, helpful and friendly. The down sides were, the entertainment system failed after
take-off, therefore, nothing to do for the whole filght. Meals were good but small and drinks
at a cost were offered only twice. The return journey two weeks later set off on time but as we
were about to take off, Vegas experienced severe thunderstorms and closed the airport to
flights. As we were already on the runway, we had to sit it out on board the plane for 150
mins. This was not My Travels fault and many other airlines also had this problem. However, it
considerably added to the journey time and made for a very long tiring flight. The
entertainment system once again had problems with total failure within 45 mins of take-off. The
meals were again good but very small for the long journey. Drinks were once again sparse.
Whilst waiting for the storms to pass all we were given was a quarter cup of warm water. Check
in at Manchester was good and we were able to check in the night before, enabling us to have a
more relaxed breakfast in the hotel ,the morning of the flight If My Travel could address these
small issues then I would rate it as a good airline for the price you pay. However, for a long
haul flight to Vegas, you do need entertainment and a more frequent drinks service with more
substantial meals otherwise the flight becomes very tedious.

GLA-MLA June. Appalled by the seat pitch for a flight of 3.5 hours. This is OK
for your hour flights when you can hold your breath and take the pain. I'm only 5'6" (with arms
and legs) and no space to move. Water - advertised in the magazine at 50cl for £1, sold in bottles
of 33cl for £1. So what is advertised at £2/litre is actually £3/litre. For water, which most other airlines
are happy to provide. The staff were patronising "we're taking you home to Glasgow" multiple
times - now I don't live in Glasgow, just had to use that airport, so if you want to land in the field near
where I live, I'd be more than happy.

Just come back from a great holiday in Tunisia from East Midlands which was sadly
spoilt by the flights in both directions. I'm 5'11" though probably been shrunk by the
lack of legroom which is totally unacceptable. I remembered flying to Cyprus with
Airtours many years ago and having to imbibe rather a lot of alcohol to get to sleep
on a 4 hour flight. So I vowed never to fly Airtours again. But a last minute package
and we're off again on the dreaded Airtours/MyTravel. Food going out was actually very
good as was the service, but return journey food of sausage and mash was definitely
not worth £5 (considering that the half board extra per couple in Tunisia was 5 TDL or
£1.08 per person for dinner!) To ask extra for acceptable legroom is an outrage; to
charge for water when the airline recommends you to drink lots is even worse.
Airtours nearly went bust a couple of years ago, restructured to fight on, but I hope
market forces take over and put everyone including the passengers (sorry, customers)
out of their miseries. In future I shall stick with EasyJet, Ryanair or Hapag Lloyd
Express who offer an excellent service at a price, don't ask you to come along 3 hours
ahead of check in and treat people as humans with legs. MyTravel/Airtours ? Never ever
again.

Glasgow- Funchal return on a slightly grubby Airbus 321. Both flights were on time
and arrived early. FAs on outbound flight were superb, those on return did what had
to be done and no more. The seat was uncomfortable but I suppose you get what you pay
for. The only problem was that as with most charter airlines the first hour or more
is spent selling snacks and drinks. We left Glasgow at 810 am and finally were served
breakfast around 2 hours later. The hot breakfast was good. Lunch on return was an
unpretentious sausage and mash, which was hot and reasonably tasty but again served
well after lunch time. I would use them again as there is not a direct scheduled
flight to Funchal from Scotland, but would eat at the airport.

We travelled from Gatwick to Rhodes and return with MyTravel Airways in June 2005.
After legroom issues last year we booked extra legroom. On arrival at Gatwick we
were allocated bulkhead seats and had lots of legroom. But shoulder and hip room was
suitable for someone who was of smaller than average size. The plane that was used
was an Airbus A330 - 300 which was set up as two class carrying 350 passengers
approx. The seats we were allocated were immediately by the exit in the centre. On
looking round the plane I could see that the front 13 rows beyond the bulkhead were
the Business/Premium seats that cost extra on all other flights. These seemed to be
placed at about 35" pitch with ample room for shoulders and hips being set in a 2 - 3
- 2 configuration. Ours were 2x4x2 configuration. The return plane had shrunk to
an Airbus A330 - 200 and once again we were allocated the bulkhead seats by the exit.
This time the configuration was 3 -3 - 3 and the front Premium 8 rows were 2x3 x2.
The hip room on the seat was 43 cms and was too tight for most people who were using
these seats. Once again the Premium seast were roomier and allocated to anyone. So
if you are flying with My Travel and know which plane they are using on your route
then consider booking a seat in the rows 1 - 8 and that should guarantee a decent
amount of room in all areas. I for one will probably avoid My Travel in the future.

I recently had the misfortune of travelling from Gatwick to Paphos with MY Travel. We
checked in 3 hours early & the queue was backing up to the entrance - it took around
45 mins to get checked in - this is the airports fault not My Travel. Our flight took
off on time, the staff were friendly and the meal was okay must biggest problem was
the amount of people they had crammed on to the aircraft. As soon as we took off, the
idiot in front reclined their seat whacking the tray into me, as I was resting a
magazine I was reading on it. This made the flight very cramped for the remaining 4
hours! I am 5ft 8in and quite fit, and I found it very uncomfortable. The return
flight was even worse with screaming kids and not enough room to relax. I find it
very hard to believe that My Travel allow the seats to recline in such cramped
conditions.

Manchester to Puerto Plata return. Although we had extra legroom seats the
configuration of this aircraft 3x3x3 made for a very uncomfortable flight. Because we
had bulkhead seats the space in front of us, our extra legroom which we had paid for
was constantly used for people stretching their legs and using the area to stand
while crew with carts got past. I had the feeling that the crew used the slightest
bit of turbulence to switch the seatbelt sign on and lock the toilets. This allowed
them to get on with their job without the inconvenience of passengers. On our return
we upgraded to premair gold and enjoyed legroom that scheduled airline passengers get
- and all for just £100 extra! Crew were 4 short on the return leg and this may
explain the poor service and surly attitude. We will never travel longhaul without
upgrading again. It is truly appalling to be crammed in to a narrow seat with so
little legroom for 8 hours. I know you get what you pay for, but surely most people
would pay a bit more for a little more space. It is time the charter airline industry
listened. I could put up with this on a short haul flight but not on long haul.

Flying back to Manchester from Gerona one day late - aircraft damaged by airbridge jetty - thats another
story - cabin crew very professional, friendly, efficient, food was fine ,aircraft clean. However, what a
flight - never been on one like it -thank goodness it was relatively short. As soon as the seat belt
signs were off - that was it - all hell broke loose - screaming kids up the aisles for the duration of
the flight . At one point I thought I had been given the job of toilet attendant - instead of enjoying
the benefits of Row 19 extra leg room all I was doing was closing the toilet door. Could it be
compulsory that for such little amount of leg room on normal seats that putting seats in recline
position is not encouraged. I am 5ft 4" tall normal build and I am squashed when dimwits do this. Thank
goodness I dont do long haul flights. OK people will probably say has this woman never had children on a
flight - well yes I have but my two - not little angels by any means - have never been allowed to be so
disruptive as this lot were. I cannot believe the cabin crew were pleased but nothing was done - it
seems the majority won.

Travelled Manchester to Calgary end of May (Canadian Affairs). My wife (not a good flyer) my 12yr
old son and myself had paid the upgrade and were allocated centre seats no window but with the seat
back entertainment and the belly camera shots shown on the main monitor we weren't bothered. The
crew were very good and attentive. The food was good. Would travel with them again no problem even
my wife felt comfortable and enjoyed the flight.

MAN-PFO A320, on time out and back, respectable leg room, above average food and really great flight

Travelled out to Monastir on 1st June (MYT415).
Check in at Gatwick very quick and efficient. Flight left on time. Airbus A320 a bit on the cramped
side, but that wasn't too much of an issue for a flight lasting 2 and a half hours. Breakfast was top
notch on this service consisting of a rasher of bacon, a sausage, scrambled egg and hash brown.

After receiving news that my flights have now been changed, 10 weeks before my holiday - from 0900 flying
out, now changed to 6.00pm evening. Flying back home was 2.00 afternoon - now changed to 11.20
evening, arriving home at 2.00 in the morning. After reading the comments from the other travellers, I'm
not surprised - just wish I had read up on them before hand. Being a mum with a small baby and two
other kids, this change will be a disaster. I will not book with My Travel again - seems to me they make
a habit of this sort of thing.

March 2005
Travelled to Goa in January with MyTravel in economy class on their A330-200.
Being 6ft, I expected to be squeezed into a
sardine can, but the legroom was excellent. I could stretch my legs out under the seat in front, and
still had ample knee room even when the chap in front put his seat right back.
The only drawback is for passengers with a window seat - the inflight entertainment electronics are
in a box under the seat in front, and restricts space for the feet.
The inflight entertainment was faultless, and the exterior cameras are fun for take off
and landings. The food was good for a charter flight, with two hot meals.
Avoid seats by the stairwell for the downstairs toilets - it was freezing! These are located in
the middle of the aircraft, and passengers had blankets up round their ears trying to keep warm.
Also, Row 10 passengers have no window as its blanked off!

Manchester - Malta.
Having booked a last-minute holiday with My Travel, flying with their own airline, I was later, more
than a little worried reading the adverse comments in this forum.
I arrived at the check-in desk 3 hours prior to take-off. No-one else was in the queue and I was
away from the desk in under 2 minutes! The staff weren't particularly 'friendly' but very
efficient.
The aircraft (Boeing 757) was clean & tidy, departing on time, with friendly, audibly comms from the
Captain. The cabin crew were professional and friendly, working well throughout the
flight - they didn't attempt to make extra sales pitches, beyond that I've experienced on other charter flights. The in-flight entertainment
was similar to other charter flights and audible through headphones (£2.50 cost).
The seat pitch was obviously not as spacious as on scheduled flights. I'm 6ft 1in and apart from putting some padding on a knee to ease it a little,
I was fine. Breakfast was hot & tasty. Whilst I wouldn't have bought it for £5 if I'd been given
the choice on the plane, it was fine - although I was surprised to have a
cardboard cup and only 1
cup of coffee. Other airlines have always used melamine cups/saucers and offered a top-up. I
suppose cardboard cups x 1 keeps the cost down. Even a bag for the rubbish was provided! Towards
the end of the flight all rubbish was collected in order to ensure an on-time departure, which
indeed, our return flight was. Again, everything was perfectly normal for a charter flight - no better - no worse.
If anyone is reading these comments prior to a flight on My Travel, reserve
judgment until
you fly.
