2 January 2008 Customer Trip Rating :
We've travelled Royal Air Maroc from YUL to RUH and back through CMN. The trip for the most part
(without the kids factor) was acceptable. The old airplanes didn't bother us much. The staff are
definitely not as friendly and helpful on other airlines and YUL-CMN they were not helpful at all.
Food not to our liking and for the most part seemed a day or two old. They used to serve food early
on in the trip and just before landing. On our way back in CMN, the plane was delayed for 6 hours.
However, to their credit they gave us an accurate rescheduling and invited us for a free meal at the
airport restaurant (their choice of food of course!). The planes equipped with central main TV
screens and played low quality C rated movies and documentaries. A couple of tips: CMN departure
terminal has a lot of restaurants, there is an internet cafe and in-terminal hotel. Bring Moroccan
currency (Dirham) or USD as nothing else gets accepted. Speaking Arabic or French will help in
getting things done. English will not get you too far. Royal Air Maroc is good choice for low-budget
or as only alternative flight.

We have received the poorest quality of service from this company. Our outbound flight was
cancelled, but not before they let us sit around in the airport all day with no information. We were
given no rescheduling information and left to reschedule ourselves with another airline the next
day. On returning they have ignored emails, phone calls and faxes for 2 months so far - and
counting. The attitude of everyone involved has ranged from surly to downright rude despite my
attempts to be polite and patient.

New York to Casablanca was truly the worst airline experience I have ever had. The toilets had no
soap and no towels (they had tissues in the towel holder for a little while but when those were gone
there was nothing), the toilet paper ran out about half way from New York to Casablanca. The
stewardesses were nowhere to be seen and if you asked for something they never returned with it. When
we were in Casablanca we had a horrible time getting boarding passes for a flight to Agadir, even
though we had e-tickets. After three trips back and forth between the agent and the RAM sales office
in another part of the airport and my husband getting upset they finally figured out how to get us
boarding passes to Agadir. They didn't seem to understand what an e-ticket is, they kept asking for
our paper ticket. There was one movie on the way over to Morocco and it was in Arabic with French
subtitles. The stewardesses never came through the cabin to pick up garbage or headphones so that was
pretty much wherever people threw it. We also had someone sitting across from us in the stewardesses
seat the entire trip back from Casablanca to New York. Apparently they book people into the
stewardesses seats - they went somewhere (I have no idea where, when we took off and landed) but these
people were sitting in these seats whenever the stewardesses weren't in them.

Disgraceful experience! Booked to return from Marrakesh to London Gatwick. Flight cancelled, sent to
Casablanca, not booked onto connecting flight but bags were. Night in hotel, upon return to airport
next day had not been booked onto flight. Told would have to go back to hotel, next available flight
not for another two days at least due to overbooking. Ended up returning via Brussels to London
Heathrow. Collected bags - return to London Gatwick to collect car. A forty hour return journey from
N Africa! Will never fly with this airline again. Haven't responded to phone calls, e-mails or
letters of complaint in over two months.

JFK to Casablanca and return. Miserable flight - no movies, filthy bathrooms, had to beg for soap,
beg for a blanket - the surliest stewardesses. After the meal service, the only time we saw a
stewardess was when she emerged to scream at a passenger for wanting to use the bathroom when the
seatbelt sign was on. Meanwhile, toddlers were running loose in the aisles. We were told if we wanted
water on a 7.5 hour flight that we had to get it ourselves. Leaving the plane, we were wading through
garbage because no one ever came through the cabin to pick up papers, magazines, cups, serviettes,
etc. No one expects five star service anymore on airlines but Royal Air Maroc service was the worst
I've ever experienced.

JFK-CMN-LHR. Luggage lost on the outbound trip - at JFK for 3 days before delivery to Casablanca,
despite repeated assurances from RAM staff that its arrival was imminent (updated times were offered
2-3 times daily). Return flight sat on the tarmac in Casablanca for 100 minutes awaiting a connecting
RAM flight, resulting in many missed connections at Heathrow. Several of the cabin crew were surly
and not very attentive, most were unable to communicate in English (odd for a flight to England), and
the aircraft was filthy, especially the washrooms. Absence of TVs was probably a blessing because
they undoubtedly would not have worked. The food was fine, but I will try to avoid this airline in
future.

JFK to CMN. Agree that 767 is older and entertainment did not work, but it was
interesting. Seats were uncomfortable as typical of coach. Dinner quite good but
breakfast was poor. Disembarked on tarmac and bussed to terminal. Transfering to
an Iberia flight was difficult. There was one counter with one line for issuing
boarding passes for all airlines, but after an hour of no progress and watching
others argue with the agents in different languages, we just had to muscle our
way to the front and get our boarding passes so we wouldn't miss our connection.
It was a good learning experience. A fascinating glimpse of another culture.

10 August 2007 Customer Trip Rating :
Our yearly trip from New York to Casablanca was the worst ever and we've vowed
to travel RAM again. The crew was unhelpful and asking for water for our baby
was a bother. RAM ground crew was even worse. The delayed flight from NYC caused
us to miss our flight Marrakech. We were sent between ticket agent and service
desk six times, back and forth in the airport with a baby until demanding
someone take responsibility and reissue our tickets. We then waited at the gate
for over an hour with no explanation that the flight to Marrakech was delayed or
why. I would prefer to fly from New York via Europe and onto Marrakech on
another airline and avoid RAM and Casablanca airport all together. Every time we
have taken RAM over the past 5 years we have had poor service, but was the final
time we will pay for a ticket from this airline.

20 May 2007 Customer Trip Rating :
JFK-CMN-JFK. Economy Class. Check-in at JFK was incredibly quick and easy. In
the elderly 767-300 we traveled in, some of the ceiling panels were held in
place with masking tape. The seats were the old weird type of "bucket seats," in
which you're wedged into a space where the armrests can't be moved.
Entertainment consisted of seemingly Soviet-era "nature documentaries," with
blurry Modern Standard Arabic subtitles, displayed in garish Technocolor on TV
panels throughout the cabin. Dinner was good, or in other words adult, some sort
of white fish with very tasty greens. The air stewards were very humane,
humorous. Quick to help. Beverage cart always available. On the return flight.
Check-in quick and easy at CMN Terminal Three, although security was extremely
tight. New aircraft. Had two seats to myself. Stewards were relaxed and
professional. Few concessions to non-French or non-Moroccan-speaking passengers,
however. Royal Air Maroc is still very "colonial" in its feel, which is a large
part of its charm, in my opinion. We left on time and arrived a few minutes
early. This isn't an airline that offers the greatest and most up-to-date
passenger comforts and amenities, but it's nonetheless an airline with
personality, or what we in the US might call "soul." I would fly Royal Air Maroc
again without a second thought.

5 May 2007 Customer Trip Rating :
Casablanca-Marrakech-Casablanca and Casablanca-Algiers-Casablanca routes for
business. The plane was a newish 737. Food was better than on European
counterparts. No inflight entertainment, but not necessary for relatively short
trips. Flight attendants generally nice and helpful, but I was disappointed at
their double-standard towards a colleague of mine when it was clear that he was
Algerian (politics where you don't expect it!). Frequent delays, poor check-in
service and immigration clearance. Once, in Marrakech, the flight was simply
cancelled because not enough passengers showed up. After protesting, I was told
that RAM would pay my train ticket to Casablanca. When you know how poor the
Moroccan train system is, you cannot accept it. I had to shout to get another
flight via Agadir. Wasted 18 hours. Overall, in my opinion, a two-star ranking
would be more appropriate.

AMS-CMN-AMS in business. Loads about 70% in business. Young trainee crew on the
outbound leg, and took a long time to take drink and meal orders. Very pleasant
otherwise. Meals served with champagne were tasty. Departing Casablanca from an
alternate terminal (several km from the one we arrived at) was a zoo. It took
over 90 minutes to clear customs and immigration and was not helped by persons
jumping the queue for no explicable reason.

JFK to Casablanca and then Marrakech return. Outbound flight in a fairly old 767
with an odd odor that lingered throughout the flight. Plane was old but in
decent shape. The overhead TV monitors near our seats did not work and the
headphone jack was misbehaving so I did not have a chance to review the rather
insipid movie line-up. A complementary pouch containing headsets, socks etc was
a nice touch. Service was pathetic with barely a single drink run and no offers
of water or juice during the 8 hour trip. Requests for tea/coffee were ignored.
The crew just seemed inept and inefficient at their tasks. We saw them wheeling
the same trolley up and down the aisles from one galley to another 4 times but
not serving anything - it was a joke. Food was delicious and the only saving
grace on that flight. Cabin got messy, bathrooms ran out of paper and I had to
ask them to refill it. We were happy to reach Casablanca and exit the aircraft.
The flight back was another story. Crew cheerful and better trained and
motivated. Served us drinks, water, coffees etc. Food excellent. The aircraft -
another 767- was newer and in much better shape. If I had to do it again I would
probably go BA or some other airline which is more professionally run and has
consistently higher levels of service.

JFK to Casablanca - Business Class. Good legroom, but fairly uncomfortable
non-flat seats. Cabin staff was attentive enough. Good value, as it is several
thousand dollars less than other business class transatlantic flights, but the
cabin looked old and none of the personal, inflight entertainment units worked.
The meal was good. I guess if you're going to Morocco and want business class,
RAM will get you there directly for less money, but without the frills.

London - Tangier return. Flight delayed as usual. No explanation. Plane very
old, but clean inside. Seating and leg room in economy was OK. Food excellent
and a good choice of drinks. Staff were polite, friendly and helpful. Good
choice of duty free. Announcements done in Arabic, French and English, but the
tannoy is hard to understand. Return journey, plane delayed by 4 hrs as always
expected with RAM. Given a free voucher for coffee, but no food. Check in was
quick, since there were no time wasters in front. The plane, was still the old
variety. No entertainment onboard or in flight info on speed, altitude etc. Food
was good and drinks. Staff friendly and helpful. I'd fly again with them, but
one more delay and I'm switching to BA or something. RAM have got to get their
timings sorted. Nobody wants to hang around for many hrs at the airport.

LHR to Bamako (Mali) via Casablanca. The connection times are not good but knew
that when I booked. The aircraft was a bit old but seat space was good.
Vegetarian meals I ordered for all 4 legs were provided - only disappointment
was on both outward and return legs it was exactly the same !. The announcements
were only in French and Arabic and the tv was a vision only with no sound. All
four flights were delayed by an hour each with no explanation. Luggage all
arrived quickly. Given this is the only way of getting to Bamako other than via
Paris with even worse connection times - it was OK but given a choice I might
opt for another airline.

London Heathrow to Casablanca in Boeing 737-800 economy. Fairly new aircraft and
seemed clean and tidy inside. No ptvs but moving maps and tvs above aisles.
Contrary to earlier reports, announcements are in Arabic , French and English
(although English is a bit garbled). Complimentary food ok- noting special but
i've had FAR worse but plenty of drinks options including ood red wine. Flight
crew pretty friendly and captain made announcements before takeoff and landing.
Marrakesh to Casablanca in worn but fairly clean 757. 'Free for all' seating
means lots of pushing and shoving once inside aircraft (we were all given seat
numbers on boarding cards- surely it would be easier just to ask us to sit in
our assigned seats?!). No food or drink but only a short flight so it didn't
really matter. Flights back on same route as well, international flight was good
again, domestic better as they ditched the 'free for all' seating and used one
of the 737-800s. Overall pretty good and far better than expected.

LGW-RAK-LGW with RAM's LCC Atlas Blue. The 737-400s operated on this route are
getting quite old and are looking their age inside, but the service was good and
the crew friendly. This is also the first LCC I've been on where meals are
included in the price (which is up to £100 cheaper than the BA/IB/AF/AT
alternatives). Despite a missed approach into LGW, they managed to keep to the
schedule too. PAX loads both ways were low and I assume that Atlas Blue may not
be able to operate the service economically, which is a pity. They should
promote the service more in the UK, as there is surely a market for Marrakech as
a destination from the UK.

Royal Air Maroc from Brussels to Oujda in a Boeing 747-400. I always fly with
them but it is always the same - the flights are never on time. 2 hours too late
is not a problem, but if you have to wait for your return flight by at least 10
hours I cannot imagine if this airline is excellent!! The cabin crew was nice.
The food they served was also quite good. I think if RAM works for better on
time flights it will become a great airline!

CMN-TUN on a brand-new B737-700 with excellent onboard service, a good breakfast
(departure was around 800 AM) and friendly, attentive personnel. Announcements
in Arabic and French only. Both departure and arrival perfectly on time. Ground
personnel was of little help before embarking, didn't speak English (although I
speak good French, my companion depended on Spanish and English only, so I was
forced to translate while trying to keep my place in the line before the
counter) and a somewhat chaotic environment at the counters. Returning TUN-CMN
flight was equally good in all aspects, B737-500 departed and arrived right on
time to board our connection for Tanger, which I had for granted, but wasn't: a
slight delay, which turned into a serious one without any explanation from
anybody (RAM ground, or even plain airport personnel, who never said a word),
and after a 2 hours' delay, PAX's got dinner vouchers but no explanation at all
for the delay (the CMN-TNG flight was scheduled for 1830). At 2250, PAX's from
all flights waiting for their connections were allowed to make a hurried
boarding (no boarding cards at all) on another, older B737-500 with "free
seating" ("get the seat you can, if you can...") for a weird
Casablanca-Meknes-Fes-Tanger, which finally arrived in TNG at 0100 next day.
Ground personnel on arrival was unfriendly and far from helpful. Frequent
Moroccan passengers on this route told me that this situation is usual on RAM
combined (Int'l-domestic) flights. I ended up gettig the strange feeling that
RAM service on international flights is superb, while on domestic routes is
quite miserable.

Marrakech- Casablanca- Marrakech. Very impressed with interior of brand new
737-800 aircraft which included a moving map on this very short hop. on return
leg gate agents very helpful as i was late in-bound from a connection from
Tanger. Older 737-500 aircraft but crew served us with a glass of water on this
20-25 minute hop and made clear announcements in Arabic, French and English.
Polite and professional flight attendants both ways.

New York - Casablanca, Business Class, Feb 2005. RAM is a very uneven airline:
Clean, if worn, 767-300. Small Business Class, 2 rows of 5 abreast seats with
plenty of leg room, but seats manage to be uncomfortable. Excellent meal which
literally takes hours to serve (about 3, on a 7 hr night flight), rather hapless
Moroccan cabin crew, but one very efficient Swiss lady purser who gets things
done. It would, overall, not have been a bad flight if all service units
(individual reading lights, IFE, movies, audio) had not been shut down during
the entire flight due to "overheating", probably a good thing as the same
problem brought down flight SR 111 in 1995 causing 237 dead. However, that made
the cabin very dark making it virtually impossible to read, and that problem had
been ongoing and unrepaired for several days according to the crew. Altogether,
a flight neither outstanding nor worth remembering, except that RAM's business
class is cheaper than the competition by several thousand dollars, constitutes
the only nonstop between New York and Morocco, and therefore shaves several
hours from the flight time. One gets what one pays for.

LHR - CMN (Casablanca) - BKO (Bamako) on 26.12.03 and return on 10.01.04 in
Economy on all sectors. Outward flight from LHR was on brand new Airbus 321 and
flights between CMN and BKO on new B737-700s so no complaints there. However
return flight from CMN to LHR was on shabby old B757. Service standards
perfectly acceptable (some flight crew were even warm and friendly) and food
especially that ex LHR was really quite good. It's becoming quite rare to get a
"cooked" meal on relatively short flights these days and so the meal service was
welcome. The announcements in English were not the easiest to understand. Also I
prefer cockpit crew who make the occasional announcement and give reasons for
any delays. "Phantom pilots" are a little unsettling in my book.

I fly Royal Air Maroc often between France and Morocco and find their service
excellent and planes (Boeing 737, 767 and A321) modern and comfortable. The
business class lounge at Casablanca airport is modern and pleasant (less true
for Rabat). RAM's business class service is excellent - wide seats, excellent
multi-course meals served on real china (foie gras / smoked salmon, main course
choice of fish or meat, cheese tray, pastries, fruit, mint tea or coffee), the
champagne is excellent and the wines good. Economy class is reasonably
comfortable and the meals served are OK. All in all, they're far better than Air
France on the same route.

Flights to Marrakech via Casablanca from Toulouse on a very old 737-200! But
return on a 737-700. I was quite scared as lining panels from the ceiling were
falling off on the older aircraft! No announcements in English on any flights
and only Arabic and French. Meals not very good. Had a breakfast on the way and
dinner on the return. Seats not too comfortable and the choice or drinks sparse.
One guy used his mobile phone and when the aircraft landed some passengers
started to get up and take their personal belongings with them on all the
flights! Quite an experience though but no thanks!
