BRU-BUD return. The outbound flight in economy was on time, return in business a one-hour delay due
to fog. Both legs with quite new B737-700's which offer comfortable leather seats. I was astonished
about the large seat pitch in business in the B737! Meals in economy were good, those in business
excellent! The cabin crew provided an outstanding service in business.

AMS-BUD return on 737-800 and 737-600, respectively. Very comfortable seats for coach, with better
recline and seat width than most budget carriers. Decent food and beverage service for a short-haul
flight. Cabin crew nothing special, but did their jobs. Had been originally ticketed by KLM (malev
as a partner airline) but found my reservation for the return flight "disappeared" when I went to
check in. Fortunately, when I arrived at the ticket counter at BUD, it was almost deserted, and the
clerk was able to help me immediately, and corrected the problem very quickly and politely.

BUD-BKK-BUD Business class on Malev 767-300ER. Better if you dont waste your money on Malev business
class. They still use VHS system for the entertaining and its a bit old to function. So on a 10 hour
flight get no entertainment at all. No place to plug your laptop. Sit back and relax - but not all
buttons working on the seats, so you cannot enjoy that you paid for business class. Better fly with
anybody else. Food okay, staff not too friendly.

LGW-BUD in Economy class on B737-600. Cabin crew on a whole pleasant and providing a drinks service
on the ground during the delay, then inflight a hot breakfast. No in-flight entertainment apart from
moving map plus airline/oneworld promotions shown. The aircraft was new, clean and presentable.
English spoken in addition to Hungarian by flight and cabin crew. Baggage reclaim quick at BUD.

LCA-GVA via BUD economy class return. Larnaca-Budapest leg (B737-800) was in the early hours of the
morning, but despite the dreadful time of day the journey was quite enjoyable - FAs polite and well-
presented and some quite friendly. A hot breakfast was served. Budapest-Geneva leg (B737-600) was
great, because the flight was only half full, so lots of space on board. Budapest-Larnaca (B737-800)
was half-empty, so again there was lots of space to sleep comfortably.

LGW-BUD-LGW Business Class. The small business class section was quiet on both the outward and return
trip meaning we had plenty of space to stretch out. Flight Attendant service courteous and friendly.
The meal was tasty accompanied by champagne. We used the British Airways Terraces Lounge at Gatwick
before boarding and the Duma Lounge at Budapest, which you could also access with a Priority Pass
membership. Overall a very pleasant and relaxed trip.

Budapest to Toronto business class in seat 1a & 1b. These seats were in deplorable condition, neither
seat had a footrest. A very helpful purser supplied us with make-shift footrest which relieved the
situation somewhat. The audio and video systems in seat 1a were not working neither was the overhead
light, which meant no Tv, radio or reading. All these problems did not make for a very pleasant
flight. The airline should never have charged business class rates for these seats.

19 October 2007 Customer Trip Rating :
Budapest-Tirana in business. This was my second flight on Malev and a big disappointment. At the Malev
terminal in Budapest, the security check is done in a hot, stuffy and overcrowded passage and takes
forever, without a fast track option. The business lounge is a throw back to communist times in terms
of product choice, decor and service attitude. The flight was operated on a CRJ aircraft. Business
class seating was four abreast, the same as economy, and very crowded. They served a hot lunch, which
was okay, but there was hardly the ellbow room to eat it.

BUD-TGM return. The aircraft was clean and comfortable. There was a 2 hour delay taking off from TGM
on the return flight but I connected with a BA flight to LHR without any problem. The flights were ok
but the cabin crew need to take lessons in how to smile! The fare was not cheap but I would fly Malev
again if no alternative could be found.

27 July 2007 Customer Trip Rating :
CAI-BUD-JFK and back Business Class. For the very cheap price paid
(almost the same as an economy ticket on other carriers), it was a very
satisfying deal. Seats were comfortable on both B737 (CAI-BUD-CAI) and
on B767 (BUD-JFK-BUD). Food on long haul was good and plenty. Crew
offering drinks frequently. Malev moved to the bran new T9 at JFK with
good shopping and eating options. I know I can get a personal screen in
my seat and a flat bed seat on business class of Lufthansa, BA or Air
France, which are nice options, but I would rather invest more in my
holiday (accommodation, dining and entertainment) rather than paying a
higher air fare.

ATH-BUD-ATH Good flights both ways. Malev still do warm food in Economy.
The drinks selection is abundant and they make more than one round.
Service is very attentive. The legroom on the flight back to Athens was
quite restricted (it was a 737-800 configured for 180 pax).

CPH-BUD-CPH economy. Although Sterling and SkyEurope also operate this
route, surprisingly the regular airline was way cheaper for this period
(booked on malev.com, 1400 DKK = 190 EUR approx for a return ticket),
probably because of the school and university holiday before Easter.
Onward flight on a Boeing 737-700, which was full. Boarding and
departure on time in Copenhagen, only the gate was announced a bit late.
I can repeat the previous opinions about the flight attendants: polite,
effective but not overly friendly. Sandwich and a small chocolate, two
rounds of free drinks: soft drinks, tea, coffee, beer and wine.
The return was an early morning flight on a B737-600, 10 minutes delay
at the beginning which remained at the end, caused by the constant
headwind. Hot scrambled eggs and fresh bread were served, great
selection of free drinks as usual. Both planes clean, tidy and newish.
Plenty of legrooms, on my way back to CPH, I sat in the 8th row, next to
the emergency exit, and the distance between my seat and the 7th row was
much larger, I was even able to stretch my legs. Overall, a very
pleasant experience and would fly with them again at any time.

LGW-BUD-LGW. Both flights on 737-600 which were clean and in excellent
condition. FAs attentive and polite, not overly friendly. Food is the
now standard snack pack - good but can get monotonous for those who take
the trip regularly. Good beverage service - two runs, sometimes three if
you are lucky. Malev now part of the OneWorld alliance. Booking this
return on BA's website opting for the Malev flights would have cost me
Ł168. Booking on Malev.com for the same flights gave me change (just a
bit) from Ł100.

LGW-BUD-LGW in Feb in economy class. On outbound B737 morning flight,
breakfast was served promptly. Soft drinks, wine & beer and hot
beverages were offered on a couple of occasions. Both sets of crew were
friendly and professional. Cabin clean and tidy, with leather seats.
Overall, a pleasant experience and would fly them again short haul.

BUD-DAM. Outward leg on a nearly empty 737-800. Clean modern planes, the
cabin crew seem to have the 'smile' option switched off permanently.
Service efficient but unsmiling, therefore quite cold. Good food
onboard. DAM-BUD. Fast boarding, 737-700 a good plane, try and get in
the first 6 rows as the first few rows in economy on right of the plane
only have 2 seats instead of 3, so you get more space. Unsmiling service
as usual. Good flight nonetheless.

LGW to BUD Business class. The flight was 3/4 full, C class was half
full. FAs were kind and professional. Boeing 737-700 with 2:3 seats
business class layout - quite comfy. Hungarian and English newspapers
offered after boarding. Food was offered on porcelain and presented
well. Malev has a better drink selection in the recent past month in my
opinion, especially the wines are getting better. BUD to LGW Business
class. Check in at Ferihegy Airport quick and smooth. Malev Duna Lounge
is the dedicated business lounge for MA and average European standard.
Boarding with priority to business passengers, the aircraft was the same
type like the inbound flight. F/As again did well, hot breakfast was
served - quality and quantity were fine. Malev improved well in the
recent few months.

LGW-BUD-LGW Business Class. We had priority boarding, large business
class seats, not economy seats with central seat reduced. Pre-flight
drink, newspapers and magazines offered. Tablecloth laid out before
drinks service. Meal served on porcelain. Staff were courteous and
helpful. New 737-800, clean and tidy.

BUD-BRU-BUD. Booked just a week advance and get better price than
its low cost competitor that flies Charleroi. Hassle free check-in, fast security check. Onboard leather seated Boeing. Morning departure
brings a breakfast (ham, eggs, roll, yoghourt), café/tea,
wine/bier as you wish. On the way back evening departure, tramezzini sandwich and again
complimentary drink service.

LHR-ATH via BUD. Both legs very punctual. Spacious seating in new B-
737. Food not the best of quality although the generous helpings of
wine helps! Service onboard professional but not particularly engaging.
Transfer at BUD on the way out a breeze but on the return leg the whole
world seemed to be travelling through. Something BUD airport will need
to address as Malev seems to want to become a transfer airline.
Overall, good service. I would certainly use them again.

FRA-BUD and back in economy class. Both flights on-time. Check-in in FRA
was quick and efficient done by Swissport. In BUD, if travelling with
hand-luggage only, I recommend using the automated check-in kiosks, as
queues at the Malev desks were quite long. Outbound I managed to get one
of the larger seats not used for business class, so legroom was great.
Otherwise "normal" economy seats are a bit cramped and worn out.
Catering is basic : soft drinks, coffee/tea, wine and a hot sandwich (a
nice touch though on such a short flight). Cabin attendants were
efficient with very good command of English, but unfortunately rather
unsmiling.

JFK-BUD-CLJ. Overall a satisfactory experience. All flights were on
time. Malev was by far the cheapest fare I found directly into
Transylvania in Romania. Malev flies out of JFK’s crummy rundown
Terminal 8. So don’t get there any earlier than you have too. Despite
a somewhat makeshift check in area, check in went fine. Malev is a
pretty basic operation. I was one of the few “ Americans” on the
flight. Mostly Hungarians and Romanians returning home for a visit.
Seats were a little cramped. I kept reminding myself, you get what you
pay for! The food was edible but if you are a picky eater you may want
to bring some food. The Hungarian wine was good. Stewardesses were
friendly and seemed to run on the assumption that most passengers were
Hungarian. Their English was good. We arrived in the bright Budapest
Terminal 2A. Looked pretty new. We had this little security area to go
through to change planes. Since it was Saturday morning the airport was
not crowded. I had a five-hour layover until my plane to Cluj, Romania
on Malev/Carpatair. Malev/Carpatair to BUD to Cluj, Romania was on a
prop plane/ jet. A 40 seater. I was the only non-Romanian passenger.
Staff was friendly. A pretty flight especially when the plane crossed
over to Transylvania. I would not want to fly this plane in a rainstorm
or snow!! It was great to be able to fly into Cluj and to avoid flying
to Bucharest. The Cluj “International” airport is really tiny! The
luggage carousel was just a little conveyer belt. Going through customs
a breeze. My return flight home was a repeat of the above. The Malev/
Carpatair counter closes 45 minutes before the flight departure. It was
an early morning flight but the Cluj airport was hopping. Returned to
JFK Terminal 8. The baggage claim was a mess. I somehow found my bags.
Terminal 8 is as bad as some 3rd world airports. I will fly Malev again
for the price and convenience of landing in Transylvania and avoiding
Bucharest.

BRU-BUD in business class. The outbound was on a Fokker 70 and the
return was a B737-800. I was impressed with the service on both flights.
Lunch on the outboud and dinner on the return were well presented on
china. Check-in and boarding were swift and trouble-free and departure
and arrival were on-time on both flights. Airport lounge at Budapest is
clean, quiet. Drink and snacks are plenty. I strongly recommend this
airline and will definitely fly again in the future.

LHR-BUD and back business class. Check in a breeze, Malev uses Alitalia
lounge at LHR Terminal 2, which was nicely laid out, but little
appropriate food for early morning departure - spirits and snacks.
Lounge at BUD better, but no bathrooms in lounge and bathroom near
lounge was getting cleaned so had to walk a good 100m to the next toilet
at the end of the terminal. Boarding excellent, business class
passengers able to board last. Seating was 3+2 in business on 737s, so
seats wider with 34" seat pitch. Crew very friendly and helpful,
couldn't do enough for me! Breakfast of cold meat and cheeses dressed
with peppers and fruit salad. Was offered beer and wine with breakfast
which was amusing, though juices and coffee were what I took. Dinner on
evening flight back was sweet and sour chicken which was at the standard
I'd expect for a good long-haul economy class meal. Also included a
green salad with salmon, grapes, cheese and chocolate dessert. Good
choice of wine for short flight and liqueur chocolate Good flights
overall, happy to recommend Malev.

Been flying Malev for the past 4 years in the routh Tel Aviv-Budapest-Tel Aviv and the only reason
I'm still flying with them is the cheap price comparing to other companies.
Service although sometimes is nice, onboard entertainmet is lacking any "normal"
level. Food on the Budapest-Tel Aviv route is better than others.

I like much how nice staff is and they take good care of passenger.
Tickets price are fare and airplanes good. Fokker 70 with big seats and

it professionally and with a smile.

Economy class, Toronto to Zagreb via Budapest. Plenty of leg room.
Seats were roomy and the seat in front is not in your lap. Anyone who

Boarding was quick.

Recently flew Malev on the PRG-BUD route return in business class. Seating on board the F70 was
fantastic for a short haul European flight (akin to the business class seat on some transatlantic
carriers without the recline). Snack was four small open sandwiches which was fine for a 50 minute
flight with the metal cutlery and real glassware being nice touches. Only disappointment was the
Malev lounge in Budapest- far too small with very limited snacks and drinks, and no toilets or
showers.

I made 4 return flights from LHR to BUD and return between October 2004 and April 2005. I have only
two complaints, the food is very basic, ham & cheese or ham and pasta twists and always with a few
strips of paprika (red peppers). Only soft drinks, beer and wine are served in economy class, no
spirits. Cabin ambience is delightful, cabin crew are very friendly. On 6 of the 8 flights I managed
to get one of the big seats not being used as business class (tons of legroom). Punctuality was
exceptional even out of Heathrow. For a 2/2.5 hour flight I can't complain as the ticket prices were
very reasonable. And they only lost my luggage once.

LHR/BUP/SVO/BUP/LHR in Business Class.
First leg LHR to Budapest was in Fokker70, the other three flights were in 737-700. All 4 flights,
seats were comfortable with plenty of legroom. All planes were new, air crew gave good service and
were friendly on the whole. Meals were good and were quite tasty with there being enough to satisfy
you if you are hungry. Overhead monitors showed some short films and comedy programmes, but without
sound. Overall Malev Business class is very good value, the only downside on this route was the immigration
check and check-in at Sheremetyevo airport (SVO), but this is not Malev's fault as it is not their
staff at check-in. SVO is a dreadful airport for getting out of and in to, but that's a story for
the airport opinions page.

4 flights with Malev in C-Class this week. ZRH-BUD-SOF return. Had 4 different aircraft for
these legs (Fokker 70, B737-600, B737-700 and CRJ). All aircraft clean and new. The
seat pitch on the Fokker and Boeing is generous. However the CRJ is very cramped. The
cabin crew is attentive and helpful. Food (snacks on all legs) is nothing to write home about but
adequate. They offer a good selection of white and red wine. All in all a very solid C-Class product
for a reasonable prize (700 Euro!).

MALÉV economy class in September '04 from Hamburg (HAM) via Budapest (BUD) to Bucharest (OTP)
and back. First aircraft was a Fokker 70. Seating wasn't spacious but seemed OK to me. The
friendly cabin crew served up 1 soft drink/wine and tea/coffee as well as a
terrible tasting buttered roll with ham/cheese/kaiser. BUD-OTP in a 737-800. Very little space for my legs (I'm 1.82m). We were provided with the same
sticky grub as well as 1 drink & tea/coffee.
This aircraft had screens installed above the seats for security measures and in-flight GPS &
flight data! Very nice. I would fly MALÉV again, if they're the cheapest, but I'd rather bring my own food.

I flew Malev 8 times during the past year. From Cairo to Sarajevo via Budapest and back to Cairo
from Zagreb. Then, from Cairo to LHR via BUD and back from AMS. 6 out of the 8 flights left on time.
The latest BUD-CAI lag was 40 minutes late waiting for late connecting passengers coming from FRA.
The flight from BUD to LHR was 4 hours late, which was the only annoying part of the whole thing. In
general, crew was friendly. Leg room was ample. Aircrafts were clean, 5 B737s, B767 from BUD to LHR,
CTJ 200ER from BUD to Sarajevo and a rented Moldova Airlines SAAB 2000 from Zagreb to BUD. Food was
simple but satisfying, with generous offerings of drinks. Ground staff at airports and offices were
helpful, except that the Amsterdam office staff gave me a wrong address for where they were located
when I enquired about by phone. Prices were cheaper than most other options, but their frequent
flyer program is by far the best amongst others in the same category. I will most probably fly
Malev again.

My first flights on Malev left me with a mixed impression of the airline. Check-in was a breeze at
LHR where Alitalia issued me with a return boarding pass.
The aircraft a 737-400 had seen better days, the carpet especially was dirty. I was near the front
so seat pitch was excellent and the seat was leather (as this aircraft has a specific
number installed for their Business Class offering), the remainder had fabric covers and clearly less
pitch. But the flight left on time and arrived 15 mins early. Breakfast was good quality and had a
hot entree (how many airlines in Europe serve hot breakfasts in economy). Two rounds of drinks from
an efficient if rather unsmiling crew.
The return on a newer 737-700 with nice leather seats throughout was also on time (bar 20mins
holding at LHR). Crew offered more smiles, but the flight was let down by a poor cold light dinner.
Perhaps I was expecting too much after what was offered for breakfast.
Again two rounds of drinks with the meal.
Overall you can see some reminders of how the airline was. The pursers reminded me of old photos
showing Aeroflot cabin crew from the 1970's/80's. If they can enhance the food out of BUD, then they
will have a good quality product at a good price.

I flew London to Dubrovnik via Budapest in Economy recently and was very impressed all round.
Check in was a delight. Arriving at Heathrow Terminal 2 on a Saturday morning was about as near to a
warzone as you can imagine, but there was only two people checking in in front of us at the Malev
desks. The planes were clean and bright (a couple of them were clearly very new) with plenty of legroom
which, being over six foot tall, is a big bonus.
The food was basic but pleasant and the cabin crew kept the free booze coming so no complaints
there. The staff were friendly and efficient. One of them told my friend off for interrupting while she was
taking my order. Hurrah! Three out of four flights left on time. The other leg left about 15 minutes late, but the captain apologised and made up for the time.

Flew LHR-Budapest and Budapest-Stansted August 2004. Nothing out of the
ordinary going out but fab coming back. Boeing 737-600 with black
leather seats and enough leg room to hold a party in - in economy!
Meals pretty good and 2 lots of free drinks both ways. Service quiet
and understated but I guess that's what you get on scheduled flights (as
opposed to the constant traffic you get on charters). Very impressed -
we shall travel Malev again.

Malev from Tel Aviv to London through Budapest. It was not such a good experience. Old B-737 with small ceiling screen that cannot be seen further than 3rd row, terrible food
(although I ordered low calorie, I was given a regular one). Flight attendants were very
unprofessional, and immediately after delivering food enclosed themselves in the rare part of the
plane. The flight from Budapest to London was late, we were waiting for our
luggage in LHR for 2 hours. The back flight was the same. Fortunately there a plenty of alternatives on the route

Recently flew from London Heathrow to Budapest with Malév on a Boeing
737-800. Acres of legroom, comfy seats and a plentiful (hot) in-flight
meal to boot. Cabin crew were extremely polite and attentive, spoke
decent English and were more than happy dealt with any passenger
requests that came up. Compared to BA, economy class on Malév is far
superior. A young fleet and spotlessly clean cabins make for a lovely
flying experience. Only problem is, my flight was only half full. If
that's indicative of things to come (as Malév's website only allows
customers geographically located in Hungary to book flights online),
then they'll be trounced by easyJet come 1 May onwards. And that would
be a shame as Malév are actually an excellent airline!

NYC-BUD on business class few weeks ago. Malev has recently removed a row of seats from business
class for more legroom, and put in new soft leather seats that are actually quite comfortable.
(still no personal entertainment system though!) The FA's were not the youngest but they were
friendly, helpful and at least experienced. The biggest problem was the food, which was barely above
economy standards (if it was at all); the portions were tiny and the food was dry and simply tasted
bad. There was a selection of good Hungarian wines and champagne on board. Also,
the cheesecake tasted great but it did not compensate for the poor quality of the entree. If you are a business traveller who doesn't
care about food and entertainment and simply want to get to Budapest quickly and
smoothly, pick Malev Hungarian Airlines review - otherwise chose another airline. Malev business class is also much cheaper
than other airlines'. Budapest-Bologna on coach a week ago. Malev is great within Europe (much better than
transatlantic!). It is well priced and service is good both on business and coach.

Malev from Toronto to Budapest and back. Our second time on Malev. The first time
was so bad we figured it was a freak. Another disaster. Small seats, unfriendly flight attendants
and poor service. Food was standard airlines cardboard. Service and attitude
very poor. Airline Check in staff would rather polish their nails than give
you information. We had requested seats 3 months in advance and were still seated
apart. So were many families to include mother and father with small children. Nobody answers the phones when
you call (or after 50 rings). The "security" inspection was a joke and unsafe. Slow to check in,
slow to board. We will avoid this airline.

Flew Malev to/from Budapest on their Fokker 70 Gatwick flights - outward stuck
right at the back next to the engine in a very narrow seat. Guy next to me said the three of us
looked like squirrels! Food and service very good - and really liked the stewardess who came round
with second drinks and insisted we had new plastic glasses as this time the wine was from Business
and better! However the flight back was amusing in a different way - I managed to check in early
and grabbed a very wide business class seat (they stretch back till about row 10 and only 4 or 5
rows are real business, so check-in early!) and the plane was half full of a British Olympic rowing
team. This certainly pleased one stewardess who occupied the two jump seats at the back of the plane
by the toilet with the rower of her choice for the last two-thirds of the flight, another
stewardess
just vanished, while a spectacularly grumpy, yet-charming stewardess of the pre-1989 era only
reappeared in the final twenty minutes with with four landing orange juices for the lucky four passengers rows immediately after business
class. Still, it kept me amused.

My first experience on Malv had been in 1994 between FCO (yes Rome, Italy) and Newark, when they
were an Alitalia partner and the flight was a code-shared operation with the Italian flag carrier.
Their business class product seemed to be good but needed some improvements.
Now I tried them again between Bologna and Budapest and back. Outbound flight operated with a brand
new Malv Express Canadair Regional Jet, leather seats, nice crew, fine snack (sandwich). Return
flight flown by Fokker70. Great seat layout (2+2 in all the cabin) actually using the same Alitalia
business class seats, again nice crew and appropriate snack for the 70 minutes flight. Spotless
cabins and both flights left 10 minutes earlier than scheduled and landed well ahead of the
published time. What to say? They're a good airline, and a real tribute to their country.

experience a bad time in August 2000, I was very ill and had an
infection in my leg and couldn't move it - the airline should have made
an exception for me to be in the front instead of the last row on the
plane. We had to wait 3 hours onboard the aircraft because there was a
mechanical problem.

Malev
Airlines needs to have a regular service from Manchester to Budapest -
if you are in need of customers to fill up your planes, I know tens of
thousands of Hungarian people living in and around Manchester who would
welcome this service.

I
flew Malev twice last year, from Frankfort to Budapest and from Budapest
to JFK. Both times I was in business class and both times I was very
impressed. They don't have the whiz-bang electronic seats yet on their
long-haul 767s yet, but the seats they do have offer plenty of room. The
main thing is that Malev seems obsessed with every single detail, from
the ease of check-in to the tiny amenities-kit clothespin to clip your
napkin to your shirt. And everything, from Ferihegy Airport to the
nacelles on their engines, is remarkably spotless. I'd fly them again
any day.
