Malev is now like a low cost carrier. During WAW BUD flight only small snack was served, the
plane was quite new but no water in lavatory! On BUD BEY leg the service was even worse.
During 3 hour flight they served a small tasteless roll with very limited selection of
beverages. On both flights no newspapers, no extra drinks, no alcohol, no smiles from FAs or
any information from cockpit.

BRU-BUD-BRU, 737-700 on both legs. Return flight, they put us in a business class seat, while
being economy passengers. Ask for rows 4 or 5, which are technically business class seats,
they use them for economy passengers. After boarding, they said we were going to be 2,5 hours
late. Eventually, delay was only 1 hour. Malev still serves some food (sandwich) and drinks
without having to pay for them. There are overhead monitors with flight information and some
publicity. Service was correct.

LGW-BUD return, outbound in Economy, return in Business. Good boarding procedure at Gatwick,
full flight to Budapest on B737-800. Comfortable seat, and decent if limited service. Wasn't
sure what catering they'd offer on a 2hr20min breakfast time flight - ham or cheese bun. Bus
transfer from remote gate to terminal, reasonable wait for luggage. Returned in business on an
upgrade, as weather conditions over lots of Europe was looking diabolical, and I thought if I
got stuck in the airport I'd rather wait in the biz lounge, and have priority allocation of
hotel room if it came to it. As it was I think we were the only flight that afternoon Not
delayed. B737-700, real short-range business class seats with 38" pitch, 5 abreast cabin.
Stupid bus transfer again, and we all got on, doors shut and then waited for 20 mins wondering
why we were crammed like sardines going nowhere rather than waiting in the terminal -
probably whilst they were prepping the plane. Finally when on, offered juice or water during
boarding, another drinks round after take-off. Light cold meal of salami, cheese, a dab of
salmon(?) mousse, served with hot roll, plus cake. FA's smiling and happy to serve, and
offered drinks again a little before landing.

Podgorica - Budapest, a tiny little aircraft. The weather was bad, but still it was decided
that the journey would begin. It was the worst experience ever, because the aircraft was
almost twisted - these situations happen and I would understand that if there was any
information from the cabin crew or the pilot during the journey, but we were left without any
information on the flight, estimated time or at least some words of encouragement that we were
in the middle of the storm and that the situation was expected but would end eventually.
Moreover, the staff was rather unkind, and performing poor service, saying nothing. I regret
boarding it at all.

Budapest to Paris on B737 Economy. Plane was not full, everybody was able to put their hand-
luggage in the overhead storage, and we were 2 on a row of 3. Plane not new but clean, the
leather seats are slim, but well designed. Not much legroom, but okay for a 2 hours flight. No
IFE, only some LCD screens overhead showing the route and distances. Nice smiling crew, doing
their work professionally, served soft and hot drinks and some snack (morning flight). Due to
the fact that we had a spare seat in between, comfort was adequate for such a small flight.

LED-BUD return in economy. Plane was in good condition, seats in the first economy row were
great (3F). Departure from LED on time, FAs friendly and attentive. No food except tiny
sandwich, two rounds of drinks, free wines included, that is rare now on relatively short
intra-European flights (2 hours). All the trip was bought from Malev Air Tours and cost me
only 320 Euros (LED-BUD-LED + 3 nights in 3* hotel), I think this is best city break package
from North-West Russia to Europe.

FRA-BUD-FRA. Online check in worked fine. FRA-BUD on a 737-600 slightly delayed. Aircraft in
good condition and seats comfy, especially in the first economy class rows (3 and 4) which are
business class seats. Crew friendly, small sandwich served, nothing special but fine for the
short flight time. On the way back online check in didn't worked and I discovered at the
airport that the flight was cancelled. They rebooked me to Lufthansa. BUD airport seems nice
to transfer, especially if there is no change from Schengen to non Schengen since you will be
able to connect in less than 10 minutes if a flight is delayed.

Budapest-Berlin on a Q400. The bag drop queue at Budapest early in the morning was slow and
chaotic. The inflight service was efficient. Breakfast consisted of a small sweet unfilled
bun, and hot/cold drinks. The seat was quite comfortable.

LGW-BUD-LGW. A very lack lustre experience in Business. Crew quite attentive and meals
forgettable although Hungarian wine quite good. B737-700 outward had Business seating, while
B737-800 inward simply kept middle of three seats free. No entertainment except map and no
onboard sales. At LGW the Servisair lounge is pretty grim so glad to escape to BA Terraces
with Silver card (both Oneworld). Malev lounge in BUD is ok with good views and free wi-fi
which works well.

PRG-BUD-DAM. PRG-BUD flight Bombardier Q400, reasonable legroom for short flight. Small snack,
soft drinks and coffee/tea served. Nice staff with good english. BUD-DAM flight B737-700 was
in time and takes 3,5 hrs. Aircraft clean, enough leg room and staff were helpful. I
appreciated LCD with gps position of aircraft. Ham/cheese sandwiches of good taste. Seems to
me little poor for medium range flight. Several rounds with soft drinks and coffee and tea
were done.

LGW-BUD return. Aircraft change so our seats were changed when we dropped our luggage at
Gatwick - staff informed us there would be a 1 hour delay due to a technical fault in Hungary.
Cabin staff courteous, they provided us with a Kosher Meal, which I wasn't expecting in
economy - meal option picked up from our BA Executive Club account. Very generous with drinks,
good quality Hungarian wines and a great price.
