LOS-FRA-AMS, C-ticket. Flight LOS-FRA was full and since I have the Senator status (=Star Alliance Gold), I was upgraded to First. Great experience. Although indeed dated seats, they are still comfortable and good to sleep on. Friendly staff, food and wine excellent, a realy First Class treatment. I found the little PTV small and difficult to watch. Used the Senator Lounge in FRA - good breakfast buffet and seating. FRA-AMS is a short 50 min hop, no worries at all. After lots of overseas C-class flights with Lufthansa, being Dutch and living in The Netherlands I still find them much, much better than KLM.

St Petersburg (LED) - FRA in Y-Class. LED facilities are basic. Check-in was a breeze. Used C-Class facility due to my Senator status. Also checked my 30kg bag all the way to my final destination, SYD. Did not say anything about my grossly overweight handluggage consisting of three pieces. Newspapers upon boarding. Onboard the packed A320, service was friendly, but a little disorganised. Plane was ancient - and uncharacteristically grubby. As was toilet. Seats comfy, pitch tight. Plenty of drink runs. Meal was a strange pasta dish peas and nothing else - actually did not taste too badly. On the ground, the non-Schengen gate required us to climb a flight of stairs. Passport control quick, though the escalator to the ground- level baggage claim and exit did not work. In all, a typical Lufthansa experience on board. Except for the young, friendly staff - that gives them the extra star.

MUC - BOS in First Class and since I was the only person in the F Cabin a truly spectacular experience - the seats may be a bit dated (over 10 years), however the lie-flat comfort is still very good. Food & wines fantastic, offering the whole menu although I was the only person travelling. Personal service & attention to the best - thank you Lufthansa 424 crew! New First Class Lounge in MUC also worth a visit (plan enough time to benefit from the service offerings)

BRU-MUC-EVN. First hop to Munich in a CR7 was very comfortable - had an emergency exit seat as requested. The sandwich served was pretty dismal. To Yerevan on a full A319. Again, managed to get the emergency exit window seat with ample legroom. Friendly, efficient stewardesses served aperitif followed by relatively good meal service of chicken and rice. GYD-FRA-BRU. Despite having made numerous requests when booking and by phone to Lufthansa for an emergency exit seat was assigned a normal window seat. Disappointed there is no facility to choose seats using web check-in like other airlines. Nevertheless, the flight in an A330 left Baku twenty minutes late, served another average sandwich before lights were turned out and we could sleep. Woken 1.5 hours before arrival to be served chicken quiche for breakfast. No hot towels. I had been looking forward to this flight but was ultimately underwhelmed. Had an hour layover in Frankfurt before the short hop over to Brussels in an old 737-300. On time departure and arrival, coffee and tea served along with a small plastic wrapped waffle. Service could be described as efficient if not particularly friendly. All in all, reasonable service from Lufthansa. Would probably choose to fly them again in preference to airBaltic and Aeroflot - their only realistic competitors on these routes.

LHR-MUC-LHR Economy. Leg room on A321 a bit tight in economy though seats comfortable. Roll and small bounty bar offered. 2 drink runs. Return on A320 legroom fine - excellent service from crew. Appreciated the free tea and coffee at Munich Airport for all Lufthansa / Star Alliance passengers. Impressed with Lufthansa and would use again.

DEN-FRA Business Class. Airbus 340-600 very clean and cabin crew professional. The food was not great but OK; however, flight attendants came around often with water or juice. IFE was pretty decent although it took me awhile to figure out how to navigate through the controls. Do have to comment that both of our headsets were missing the foam padding on the ear phones of the headsets and since the headphones are integrated into the center armrests you could not ask for a new headset. All in all, a positive experience.

Frankfurt to Toronto last week, enjoyed the flight, with one exception. The Flight attendants were excellent, & the drinks etc too. But what about having a little movie, similar to the one about how you put on your Life Jacket, showing how you use the washroom? Paper towels were stuffed in on top of the toilet seat covers so you couldn't get at them. I think people didn't know where to put the garbage. Perhaps a giant arrow ,pointing to the garbage disposal might help

BHX-FRA-CAI return economy class. A satisfactory experience from my point of view. I want on-time performance, at decent times (many European flights to/from Cairo arrive or depart at stupid times of the day), with reasonable comfort and a fair meal thrown in. Lufthansa provided this. All four flights on time or early; Cairo service arrived at 19:10 and left at 15:30 (allowing a morning's work before going to the airport); the seats surprisingly comfortable with very good legroom on older but clean, well-maintained planes; meal was tasty and sufficient. FRA-CAI sectors were on old Airbus A300-600 equipment with no IFE. I got some work done on the way out and enjoyed reading a good book coming back. In this case Lufthansa did what it said on the tin and I had a relaxing journey. And one other excellent thing: using Lufthansa meant travelling from a local airport and avoiding Heathrow, which is always worth doing! I hope to use this airline again.

YUL-MUC-CPH in Economy. A340-300 clean with excellent service from friendly and attentive flight attentants. There are no PTVs for the in-flight entertainment. Seats were quite comfortable. The seat pitch is no worse than other airlines. I thought there was enough "personal space", even with the seat in front of me reclined about half-way. Food was good. Intra-European leg was good on a CRJ-200. Tasty ham & cheese bun and chocolate served as light breakfast.

DEN-OTP in Economy. Both flights completely packed, and service varied from good to awful. On the first leg, some of the flight attendants were terrific. Food OK, seats unbelievably uncomfortable. The reason many people were standing up and walking around in the middle of a night flight was because their legs were cramped. On the second leg, my requested emergency exit seat didn't materialize, and the staff could not have been less helpful, refusing to answer questions and being rude. Overall the price was good, but on the whole I was not impressed.

BRU-FRA-SGN and HKG-FRA-BRU in economy. All flights on time, good service on European flights, excellent on long haul routes. No personal inflight entertainment in the 747 but did not matter as outbound journey was during night time. Seat reservation during online booking worked well.

Auckland - Frankfurt via LAX. First leg was route shared with Air New Zealand and was great. Personal TV on back of seat in economy. All bags had to be collected in LA and rechecked in as per LAX policy. Flight LAX to Frankfurt had no personal TV's for entertainment. There were only 2 movies shown the first of which was started after 5 hours. Other entertainment such as EuroSport news and news was shown before the movie but was not continuous. We watched a program for 30 mins then waited another 30 mins before we were "entertained" again. On the plus side food was ok. Compared with other long haul carriers such as Emirates and Air NZ, Lufthansa left a lot to be desired. I didn't imagine that any carrier could survive by offering a level of entertainment that was straight out of the 1980's. Would only ever consider flying Lufthansa on a short flight within Europe where there are not hours to try and entertain yourself.

Kuala Lumpur to Munich and back Economy, two times. To begin with, LH announced with great fanfare "direct flights between KL and Munich, a lie considering that they have a 2 hour stopover in Bangkok during which you have to leave the plane take along all your hand luggage. Apart from the usual coldly efficient crew and speckless cabin, no inflight entertainment other than earphones and a main cabin TV screen. Letters of complaint in their original form with all personal details were never responded to, despite my frequent flier card and email address. Interestingly the chief stewardess had read it, which she told me when I left the plane, and it wasn't even addressed to her.

MUC-JFK-MUC Economy class. After flying Emirates and Austrian Airlines several times on long-haul route, Lufthansa really dissapointed me. There is no seatback video in any of the planes, the food was just ordinary. I was allocated a seat in the last row, so by the time in-flight service got to the rear of the plane the choice of dinner was limited to pasta or pasta, usually you have the choice between at least 2 different meals. A plus was the friendly cabin service.

The last row on LH European flights is not only uncomfortable (see contribution by Daryl Ward) but also can mean you lose out on whatever little in-flight service there might be. Flying from BLR to ZRH via FRA, I was allocated a seat in the last row of the 737 on the FRA-ZRH leg. A single FA served breakfast on that sector; two rows before she got to the rear of the plane she packed up in order to commence pre-landing procedures. (I am a Star Alliance gold card holder).

Helsinki - Munich - Economy. As a senator card holder I expect a certain level of service. On this flight online check in was not available (my booking was not recognised). Upon check in I was allocated the back seat of the plane (no window and next to the toilet) Despite other seats being available I was not allowed to move. I endured a 2 hour 20 minute flight sat upright (no recline and a seat that was pushed hard up against the bulkhead) with the passenger in front of me fully reclined. Lufthansa should pay attention to other airlines that automatically allocate frequent flyers preferential seating.

IAD-FRA economy class. Professional, friendly FA's. Onboard entertainment was good. Meals and drinks great, German beer free in economy class - Aeroflot charged me 5$ for beer last time.

Economy HEL-MUC-HEL. Star Alliance check-in automates were very efficient in morning rush hour at HEL airport as we had carry-on bags only. Long queues avoided. Got separate seats but at the gate LH put us to sit together. A319 had new leather seats and enough legroom. Surprised when FA´s offered us breakfast, as we didn´t expect anything. Attentive and polite FA´s. Flight on time and disembarkation ok by bus. Return flight equipment was changed to smaller aircraft due to technical fault. We were put to standby list at MUC. Rerouting was offered and got fastest way HEL-WAW by LH and WAW-HEL by LOT. LOT failed us and they didn´t take us onboard at WAW despite we had Y-class tickets and transfer time was 30min with carry-on bags. LH rerouted as again by Finnair back to home. Must say that LH staff we met were very polite, understanding and efficient.

BRU-FRA-CCU and back BNL-FRA-BRU in Business. Efficient, but on the long-haul flights the difference in service was marked. Outbound FRA-CCU was a daytime flight and inflight service was perfunctory and brusque, although the food was good. Return flight BNL-FRA was exactly the opposite with very attentive crew and service. The let down is the seats, which are not at all comfortable for sleep. Given the chaos and lack of facilities at BNL LH were amazing at check-in and departure.

YVR-FRA-FCO and VCE-FRA in Business. YVR-FRA in a spotless, newer 346 with the PrivatBed. Very friendly cabin crew - a great job from start to finish with the exception that water was never offered on this 10 hour flight. FRA-FCO on an ancient A300-600 with the old Business Class - you know, the one with the 19" seat pitch. Good catering, great crew. VCE- FRA on another A300-600. Upon departing VCE, the Captain gave us a slow, low level fly past of the city which was spectacular - what a treat!
