AMS-FRA-FCO. At check-in the agent noted my height and asked me if I wanted exit row seat or a seat with the other 2 free of passengers. Both legs a sandwich with a drink (even alcohol!) and newspapers available. They had some problems with my luggage, but it arrived the next day on time.

Victoria-Calgary-Frankfurt-Paris, GenevaGVA-FRA-YYC-YYJ economy class. Flights on time, luggage delivered promptly, cheerful and hard-working FAs throughout. YYC-FRA segment was A340 with fairly new interior and full AVOD, and two proper meals were served each way. Requested seafood meals very good. YYJ-YYC feeder segments operated by Air Canada using CRJ-200s, but all six segments were sold with AC flight numbers as an AC ticket under the LH-AC code-sharing agreement. Oddly enough, neither the LH nor AC websites could find this open-jaw routeing. But Expedia unearthed it, and at an extremely reasonable fare of Can$1260, booked two months in advance. An excellent trip all around.

FRA-DUS-EWR, JFK-FRA. Flights are on time, nice clean cabin and attentive service. Even on that short hop FRA-DUS a small breakfast was served. On the DUS-EWR leg, very good food and wine selection. JFK LH business lounge very nice and spacious ambiance, with a great view on the runway.

MUC-IAD on A330-300, comfortable, on time flight, clean aircraft with personal IFE screens and good choice of movies and music. Attentive FA's good food and drinks, but no after dinner drinks offered.

LHR-FRA-BLQ return. I enjoyed Lufthansa Business Class with professional and attentive service and good quality small food offerings and wine. Only downside was with connecting flights through Frankfurt which were a bit of a hassle due to confusing signage.

YUL-MUC, FRA-YUL Economy class. Okay, though nothing to write home about. State of cabin okay, food okay, standard complimentary drink service, okay service (efficient if not notably friendly), seats a little cramped. All in all, very average (which puts it far above United, below Swiss and slightly above KLM).

SIN-FRA: Lousy 747. No personal screen, crammed old seats etc. Crew was 50% friendly, the rest was not. FRA-MAD two days later. Had issues with the 'self check-in' kiosk. Got a lecture from a 20+ year old check in staff when I approached him about why it did not work.

FRA-ICN A340-600 in Business. Flight nearly full. Food and beverage service good. Only issue I had was with my seat which was sorted out quickly. Another issue would be the selection of movies available. LH desperately needs to update their movie selections.

FRA-YYZ in First Class. An excellent flight. The service Lufthansa provided in first class is worthy of the name. The food was excellent, seat very comfortable, service was very attentive and personal. I recommend it highly.

FRA-NUE and TXL-FRA, codeshare with Air Canada as part of a larger itinerary. FRA-NUE segment was cancelled due to weather and the LH ground staff in FRA rebooked my on a train. Ground staff experience in FRA was mixed, with one staff member being quite rude and other ones very friendly. On the TXL-FRA segment only drinks were served. A300-600 plane was in good shape and the captain kept the passengers informed about the routing and arrival time in FRA. Overall, a good experience, but nothing extraordinary.

Vancouver to FRA and FRA to HKG. The seats took a little time to get used to. I think they are better in day flights as no conversion is required to get good levels of recline. The 170 degree angle is OK for sleep though 175 would be better. The pod style seats of Air NZ and Virgin Atlantic are better for night flights as privacy is better and are 180 degree full flat. Some reviewers have commented they couldn't plug in their Bose headphones - it's easy, just pull the out the cord that connects the headphones in the seat, unplug them and plug in your own. Service and food was excellent. Ground and cabin staff are very efficient.

After flying to Europe on United, we were re-booked on LH because of a flight delay. What a difference! Business Class seats on Lufthansa do not go flat like UAL seats do but they are much more comfortable. But the main difference was the service. Had a nice conversation with the head flight attendant and another FA serving lunch. While it's true airlines will get you there, if you have to spend 11 hours in the air, the service makes all the difference.
