LHR-MXP-LHR I used Lufthansa Italia many times over the last years. Some of the flights are operated by BMI. I
am very sad that the connection will probably be discontinued in October 2011 because it was a quality service
(refitted aircrafts, new seats, helpful and welcoming crews, mostly on time). It was definitely the best choice
between London and Milan (the others are AZ operated with ageing MD80 and crew that were trained in the soviet
union; BA which is now a flying pension fund and has stopped investing in its operations long ago; EZ which is not
that bad for being a low service airline).

LHR-MXP-LHR Business class. Outbound an A319 in BMI livery - Lufthansa seating and service but
BMI crew. The service was excellent, only 2 of us in Business. Meal with a choice of 2 hot
main courses and wine/alcohol/beverages. The return flight was better. Used the BA Terraces
lounge as a Gold card holder, quick boarding, but it was on a bus. Lufthansa crew were
attentive, friendly and engaging. I was the only person in Business so maybe was lucky.

MXP-BRI-MXP. Flight on time, flight attendants cheerful and talkative, good beverage service
and sandwich was given. The planes are old, but well maintained. The only problem was the
legroom : too tight!

ARN-MXP with good service at ARN. SAS business lounge was okay, nothing more. Service on the
flight was quite good, got the special meal I had ordered and drinks were fine. Luggage was
the last to arrive on the carousel but it did not bother me that much.

LIS-MXP-WAW on LH Italia, which feels like Lufthansa "low cost". Flight from LIS delayed but
no information from ground staff or on airport screens. When boarding started with over 1h30m
of delay we asked to be rebooked since we were going to miss our connecting flight to WAW, but
were told it was impossible. Arriving in MXP flight to WAW had left. Transfer agent refused to
rebook us on LOT which had a flight leaving in the next hour. First she said LOT did not
accept LH tickets. When we told her this was against IATA regulations she said LOT's flight
was full and eventually she said she only had 2 seats available. When we decided to complain
to the station manager and he said we were right and could be rebooked to LOT, it was too
late. Sent over to another desk for accommodation and initially given awful motel. After
complaining we got rooms at the Novotel. We had to wait for another hour for the transfer. LH
Italia has terrible ground handling in MXP and staff is rude and unprofessional. They do have
a decent onboard service, but when I fly I need safety, comfort and reliability. Return flight
was TAP, non-stop flight with good service.

LH Italia from MXP to LIS. Check-in quick. Lounge has lots of room for improvement. Inflight
service was excellent. Friendly cabin crew and good meal even in economy (hot meal, dessert &
ice cream some time ). I would fly them again but they need urgently to improve their ground
facilities in MXP!

Casablanca-Malpensa. We booked this flight partly due to the very good offers LH were
offering on this new route - less than GBP100 for business class on a 3 hour flight! Check in
was fine, only a 2 mins wait. However when we got to passport control all manner of problems
started. The member of staff stated that Lufthansa only flew to Frankfurt, not Milan, and
that we must have been given the wrong boarding passes! Eventually after a manager appeared
it was all smoothed over but it was 15 mins of waiting around I could've done without. Then,
staff at the airport VIP lounge refused to let us in as the lounge was only for Lufthansa, not
Alitalia! Again, more hassle until we managed to get the agent to understand we were flying
Lufthansa Italia, not Alitalia. We should have not bothered as the lounge itself was mediocre.
The flight was fine, although it would have been nice to be told why were delayed for an hour.
Nice meals and service, though we were only ones in C class. So 8/10 for the flight, but 4/10
for the ground handling. I accept these aren't Lufthansa staff, but LH perhaps needs to
improve its liaison with the airport to avoid a negative experience for customers.

MXP-PMO return by Lufthansa Italia with German staff in a clean and comfortable A319. On both
flights refreshments were provided twice as well as a sandwich (which was only available as
non vegetarian food). On both flights a cheeful crew with excellent service. The flights were
only approx 75% full.

LHR to Bari via Milan Malpensa. Easy online checkin and no queue for baggage drop. Late
departure from LHR, just made connection at MXP, arrived at Bari with luggage. Return leg 6
June dreadful check in, took 50 minutes caused by either untrained, incompetent or lazy local
staff at Bari who managed to separate many families and couples. Flights on time and arrival
on time at LHR. On all legs aircraft smart, crew exceptional and helpful, snacks and drinks
fine and a cheaper fare than Alitalia.

ARN-MPX return with Lufthansa Italia and was very pleasantly surprised over the service level
in economy. We got warm food with two choices that was pretty tasty and an ample supply of
drinks including sparkling wine.

LHR-MXP return. Outward flight operated by BMI with Italian staff, return by Lufthansa Italia
with German staff! I pretty much agree with the comments made by other reviewers, although
both flights refreshments only provided once. Both flights were only approx 75% full; outward
flight only 1 other passenger on my row. Return flight had a full row to myself. Paid just
over £100.00 for the return flight which I consider to be good value and probably not that
much dearer than Easyjet.
