LHR-MXP-LHR. Lufthansa Italia frequent promotions induced me to try their service. If
traveling with family they give value for money. Both flights on time, planes clean, FA
attentive and helpful albeit a bit cold. Basic service and food as some room for improvement.

LHR-MXP-NAP return. Online check-in worked fine both ways (hand luggage only). LHR-MXP
operated by BMI with an Italian BMI crew. Rather an odd, carbohydate-free catering concept,
but attentive crew and two rounds of drinks. MXP-NAP and return flights all similar to one
another, catering consisting of a sandwich or roll plus plenty of drinks (wine served in a
glass rather than a plastic cup much appreciated by me!). LH crews were German but spoke good
Italian and were excellent. All four flights were less than half full and I had a row to
myself on all of them. I paid £155, which I felt was good as I only booked a month in advance
at a busy time of year, and was much cheaper than BA from Gatwick.

LHR-MXP-BRI return. Check in at Heathrow took longer than it should have and seemed a bit
unorganised. LHR-MXP on time in a clean & comfortable A319. Snack & drink provided free by the
excellent staff. MXP-BRI same clean & comfortable A319 with same service. The return flights
were much the same except a minor delay in both legs. My hold bag was mislaid at MXP and
didn't arrive at LHR. It was taxied to my house in London the following evening, 26 hours
after I got home. Not a big issue for me. I'd still rather go through this 2 leg flight to
Bari than fly directly there with Ryanair. In terms of costs the Lufthansa 2 leg option was
approx the same cost as the Ryanair option. I'd opt Lufthansa Italia every time.

BRI-MXP-BCN and back. Check-in and boarding process quick. The cabin crew was friendly and
polite although they had some minor problem in speaking Italian. The meal was good and some
beverages, including wine. A319 clean and confortable.

Milan MXP-Budapest and back. In Malpensa 30 mins delay for technical problems. New and clean
A319, very good inflight service with free wine and beer. Nice crew. Overall a good experience.

BCN to MXP. A319 with such a cheerful crew. The service was top notch. For a flight of 1.5
hours they served a sandwich and drinks (2 rounds). We left and arrived on time. They are much
better than the old, rude Alitalia.

LHR to MXP Economy. Flights operated by BMI, with the plane not really knowing who it flies
for! Outside is BMI, crew are BMI, they announce the flight is LH Italia operated by BMI, but
service is Lufthansa, inflight magazines Lufthansa, seats Lufthansa and safety card BMI! Food
offered on both legs was decent with bar service offered. Both flights not full. Crew on
outbound were ok - one not knowing how to smile. Return leg crew friendly, and took the time
to have a chat with passengers when serving drinks etc. Overall good flights, excellent value
for money, would fly with them again.

LHR-MX -LHR in C. Previous experience with Lufthansa Classic left a lot to be desired. This
trip more than made up for it! Outbound a very friendly purser (Norwegian) expertly and
skillfully dealt with a shortage of C meals (6 meals embarked for 11 pax). She sensitively
enquired as to which pax had booked C and who had been upgraded, ensuring the booked pax
received the appropriate meal. Upgraded pax were given the Y class sandwich with her
apologies. A generous bar service was provided, enhanced by the addition of real espresso
coffee. Although an almost full flight in both classes, service remained friendly and good
natured - in total contrast to the Germanic efficiency encountered before. Return flight was
better. Only C pax booked, although 2 upgrades. Very polite and charming FA (assisting the
purser after take off) kept informing me that I wasn't being forgotten and that my "Business
Class Food" was coming and not to worry! Spoilt rotten by the Purser (Romanian this time)
even though she was serving a full Y class. Looks like LH Italia are making the effort to win
pax.

LHR-MXP on LH1879, return MXP-LHR on LH1878. These were among the first flights of the newly
formed Italian sister company of the German national carrier. Aggressive discounting ("2 for
£99" etc) seems to have worked as the plane's economy cabin was 100% full. Boarding chaotic as
the gate was only announced a couple of minutes before the scheduled departure time, and then
at 'last call' which caused a lot of inexperienced passengers to run to the gate, pushing
others out of the way etc. Crews are mainly German and seemed a bit disorientated, definitely
not acting as experienced FAs should. One of the FAs on the outbound flight could not be
bothered to look at his passengers while serving them, so he didn't even notice when he was
emptying a sachet of salt over three seats - and the people sitting in them. He might as well
have "I really don't have to do this you know" written on his forehead. Planes (A319) looked
new and clean, but the back rest of the middle seat which also doubles as a fold-out cup-
holder between window and aisle seat (it was still folded out when I took my seat) is rather
too firm and uncomfortable. Despite slight delays at departure both flights arrived on time.
Although all announcements during the flight were made in English and Italian, LH's FAs still
can't help themselves from sending you off with "Auf Wiedersehen". AT MXP, we had to be bussed
to the terminal but at least there was no waiting time at all for the luggage.
