Return journey from Bishkek to Osh. This has to be one of the world's most spectacular flights
over the mountains between Kyrgyzstan's two main cities. The flight experience was OK with an
old Antonov turboprop on the outward leg and a Tu134 on the return. Both were on time and with
clean aircraft, although certainly not the newest. The airport check-in at Osh was a bit
relaxed in procedure and chaotic, but did the job for the small number of passengers. I'd fly
with them again on this route.

I have flown several times between Dubai and Bishkek on both KGA and
their now defunct predecessor Altyn Air, Kyrgyzstan Airways have in fact
just rebranded the same two planes that service the route still
retaining the very attractive livery of Altyn Air, even the FA's are the
same so effectively just a name change. In my opinion the service
continues to slowly improve and the staff are as ever friendly and
helpful. My last trip was business class and the DXB/FRU leg was on an
immaculately presented TU-154M. Terminal 2 at Dubai International leaves
a lot to be desired but is actually easier to use than Terminal 1
despite the lack of airbridges and arrogant customs staff. Lining up in
duty free behind my pilots to be dressed as Biggles and clutching
bottles of vodka I probably could have done without! The flight was on
schedule, the food is OK although the most accurate description of the
meal I could get in English was 'Some kind of meat' - I ate it anyway
and it was pretty tasty as mysterious meat dishes go. Return flight was
on the older and smaller TU-134A3, the interior of this little beasty
reminds me of my Grandmothers loungeroom, but what it lacks in modern
style it makes up for with a solid reliable feel and homely atmosphere.
All in all not an unpleasant experience, the aircraft may be getting on
but I wouldn't hesitate to fly with these guys again - watching the
ground staff and pilots milling around this beautiful old 154M at Manas
airport you can just tell that they love this plane, it's altogether
possibly the shiniest thing in all of Kyrgyzstan! Unfortunately I
believe this aircraft (85718) was damaged last week during an
altercation with an incorrectly parked USAF KC135 Tanker whilst taking
off - sincerely hope they can repair it.
