My route was from London to Kuwait then a transfer through to Manila. London-Kuwait was Business
class, food good, and comfort was good although the entertainment system needs an upgrade, but DVD
units were available for Business and first class. The seats were comfortable with lots of room, but
they don’t lay flat making sleeping still a little uncomfortable. I would happily travel again with
Kuwait Airways but only in Business or First Class.

We travelled with Kuwait Airways from Rome Fiumicino to Mumbai, with transit to Kuwait. On arrival
at Mumbai, the baggage was not delivered and we were assured the airline would arrange to forward to
us in India when it arrived. After three days it arrived at Mumbai but the serious problem has been
that nobody assumed the responsibility to send me the baggage to my hotel, but they said that I
would have had to go personally to the airport to collect (approximately 100km of distance). At my
expenses I have taken a taxi and have gone in aeroporto. On our return flight, the plane was dirty,
old and the cabin staff somewhat lazy. This has been our first experience of Kuwait Airways but
also the last one. (User submission originally sent in Italian)

Bangkok to Kuwait and to London. Aircraft clean and tidy, entertainment could do with update. Food
was good, soft drinks only served and you only needed to ask for more. Staff were helpful and polite

LHR to BKK via Kuwait. It wasn't your 5 star service but if you are looking for a cheap flight and
are not too bothered about frills this is the way to go. The staff were fine, I watched a couple of
films although the entertainment system wasn't the most modern (take a book!). The food was
delicious in economy and it was generally a pretty easy trip. Kuwait airport is fine and if you have
£15 to spare, book in to the private passenger lounge for a shower, free buffet and drinks, massage,
internet.

LHR to BKK via Kuwait return. My seat was broken on two of the planes, it would not stay upright.
The entertainment system was faulty on all of the flights, some of it was so badly broken there were
wires protruding from the controls. Maybe only one screen out of 40 was in working order. The flight
attendants were brusque to say the least and service was terrible. We were travelling with my
elderly father in law. On our return from BKK to Kuwait, there was a passenger sitting in his
allocated seat (the flight begins in Manila) and the flight attendant refused to move them, despite
my pleas that we needed to be seated together. We will not be flying with this airline again.

12 February 2008 Customer Trip Rating :
I echo the "never again" comment. Return flight Amman to Kuwait in business - delayed over 1 hour
due to late arrival of incoming flight with no notification until approx. 10 prior to scheduled
departure. Additional delay at departure gate (not KU's fault) due to need to remove unruly
passenger. Seat broken with recline "auto-engaged" whenever acceleration or gravity an issue. The
final straw came when my checked baggage and that of my colleague (and others) emerged on the
carousel soaked and stained with olive oil (and not an insignificant quantity). Despite what I
believe to be an official policy of most ME airlines to forbid large quantities of olive oil as
checked baggage, it appears that someone called in some favours as well over ten seperate 10 gallon
containers of olive oil, with over half now empty due to poor handling and/or inadequate containers,
emerged on the carousel. KU has offered me a laughable $80 USD as compensation for my now ruined
$400 USD suitcase - but only if I can provide the original purchase receipt. I will avoid KU from
now on and in particular the A300 whose hold, and would assume, wiring and other lower hold
equipment is now soaked with 50+ gallons of olive oil.

Trivandrum - Kuwait - LHR. I thought there would nothing I could add to all the previous comments,
they summarise my experiences on every flight I made with Kuwait. Credit where it's due the 777's I
were newer and leg room was good in cattle class (the entertainment system was still u/s though!).
Overall satisfaction Very Low.

Kuwait airlines, never again! Although I had proof that my seat was confirmed from Kuwait to
Islamabad, I had to pay additional charges to board the aircraft to return to Islamabad. The ground
staff attitude is the worst that I have seen, and I would not recommend this airline to anyone.

LHR-Kuwait-Bangkok : plane very old and entertainment not working - with 3 children this was a very
long flight. Staff need training, as not very polite or helpful - drinks far and few between!
Bangkok-Kuwait-LHR even worse - our seats had been moved so my husband was sitting down the plane.
Staff rude and would turn service call light off and not even ask what was required. I would never
fly Kuwait again, no matter how cheap as safety is more important.

LHR to Colombo, breaking journey at Kuwait, and returned the same way. There was a three hour delay
at Kuwait for the flight to Colombo. Returning to London a five hour delay at Kuwait. The ground
staff at Kuwait must get some good training. This is the worst airline I have travelled over the
last 35 years.

9 January 2008 Customer Trip Rating :
The standard of Kuwait Airways has deteriorated in the past 10 years. Once upon a time I preferred
flying Kuwait Airways to British Airways. As a student (1995-1999), I flew back to Kuwait 4 times a
year. The service and quality of everything was 100 times better than what it is today. I flew to
Damascus twice in the past three weeks and once in Septemeber - I had no choice but Kuwait Airways
and it was very bad every time. Cleaning the bathrooms and employing highly qualified staff costs
more but will buy a good reputation.

LHR-KWI-BKK-MNL. Kuwait Airways is the worst airline I have flown - from booking (seat pre-
arrangement) to cabin crew attitude and flight schedule. Many seats on both Airbus 340 and Boeing
777 fleet are broken or not reclining properly, TV screen monitors are of very low quality and most
of them do not even work, headset or headphones do not work. As my family and I were travelling in
Economy to the Philippines (this is obviously a long haul flight) but they did not give us any
toothbrush or toothpaste, apparently this is only for Business and first class. The food is average.
The cabin crew - some of them are nice, specially the oriental or asian crew, but OH MY GOD, the but
many are rude with an angry and lazy attitude.

Cochin to JFK Business class. Check in at Cochin fast and easy. Business class lounge at Cochin
rudimentary (one lounge for all airlines). Service on planegood and food ok. Business class seats
old style, partial recline. Club at Kuwait nice and they have a smoking room and computers.
Business class seats on the Kuwait JFK section in 777 old style - not what you want on a 13 hour
flight. Entertainment system had limited movies and didn't work during early part of flight, but
crew had separate DVD players available with a few movies. Meals were adequate but not up to standard
of other airlines. Cabin crew attentive and pleasant. No alcoholic beverages on the plane , at the
Kuwait club or the Kuwait duty free. If you need cigarettes they are under $10 per carton at Kuwait
duty free. Security at Kuwait would not allow my wife's knitting needles which were ok in NY, Milan,
India and other airports wherever we have travelled.

KWI-BAH-KWI Economy. Poor flight. Dirty, cramped seats, no FA interest in helping passengers, or
telling passengers to turn off phones when many were using them. Suspended TV screens remained down
during takeoff and landing which surely contravenes some airline safety regulation. When is this
airline going to be scrapped?

LHR-JFK return 1st class. I chose Kuwait Airways because of the low cost of a 1st class ticket,
cheaper than most business class seats with major carriers. Check-in fast and simple, given invitation
to American Airlines lounge in LHR. Boeing 777, of the 24 First class seats only 7 were occupied.
Alcohol free flight, doesn't bother me as I don't drink much anyway, food was excellent as was the
service from cabin crew. Flight deck announcements were non-existant. The return flight was also an
easy check-in. Once again the service and food was very good, this time only 6 passengers in the
cabin. If you can live without the alcohol during the flight (both airport lounges serve ample free
alcohol) this is a good deal. The only partially negative was the entertainment system, simple to say
the least, to be honest for a 6 hour flight it's not paramount.

Kuwait-Dubai-Kuwait in in Economy. Kwi-Dxb leg the plane was old 320 and Dxb-Kwi it was A310. The
service is so poor that there aren't any service. I wonder how people manage with them on longer
journeys? FA's didn't smile at all, didn't speak, just throw the food in front of you. The food was
okay, not superb but not bad (if you like spicy food). No alcohol but I can cope with that. On the way
to Dubai the plane looked like it haven't been cleaned for ages.

We travelled Sri from Heathrow to Colombo via Kuwait return. The service
we received was mostly very good. Some of the entertainment systems did
not work, but what was shown was limited anyway. Not serving alcohol not
really an issue though it would have been nice to have a swift one! Food
options at the airport were limited but not the airlines' fault.
The staff were courteous and good with the kids. Toys provided on all
legs of the journey. When our youngest put his hand in the coffee (our
fault), they could not have been more attentive. The food was really
nice and surprised us all with kids meal and baby food provided as
requested. Easy to reach offices to reconfirm flights. I don't know if
some of the other people have just had some bad luck, but judging by our
experience, I would fly Kuwait again.

I will never fly Kuwait Airways again. Just returned from a round trip
London to Thailand - cramped seating, some of the seat recliners did not
work, most of the sky entertainment screen did not work. If you tried to
complain the staff were disinterested. Was unable to contact local
office in Thailand (telephone numbers would not work) to reconfirm my
seats for return journey and ended up being split from the rest of my
family. Emails sent to Kuwait Airways never got any replies - overall
condition and cleanliness of plane very poor, I expected a lot more
from such an airline.

24 April 2007 Customer Trip Rating :
Always wonder how this airline got the 3 stars. The crew on the flight
from KWI-FRA seemed to have a contest about who is rudest to the
passengers. Service calls are simply switched off without any reply.
Drinks were not served for hours. Thirsty passengers who had to request
for a glass of water were given a rude answer and were told in a harsh
tone to return to their seats (No seatbelt sign was on). The whole
entertainment system is a mess.

LHR-KWI-BKK and return in April. The experience was not good and I
wouldn't recommend flying with them even if they are the cheapest
option. The staff were rude, they were arguing amongst themselves and
sitting reading the newspapers. Basically customer service was non
existent. Of our four journeys we had working IFE monitors once and
hardly any screens seemed to be working. The food wasn't too bad but the
FAs were reluctant to serve drinks.

JFK to Dubai and back. Boeing 777-200ER which had a refurbished interior
- seat pitch and width generous as was the A320 I flew from Kuwait to
Dubai and back. What impressed me is how improved the standard of KU's
cabin crew service as well as inflight entertainment and food choices
have become. This was a welcome change from their A 340s which are in
shabby shape.

8 February 2007
JFK-LHR-KWI-COK return COK-KWI-JFK economy.I had expected the worst as I
travelled outbound with my 3 and 7 yr olds. The outbound was an A340 and
inbound B777. The 777 seemed to be in better shape than the 340.
JFK-LHR crew appeared detached and rude. All the rest were mildly
pleasing. Announcements from the flight deck few and far between. Kids
did not receive any special attention or goodies. Most of the
entertainment monitors were operational in the rows we were seated, so
that was a relief. The meals were fine as long as you avoided the spicy
curries on some sectors. The transit in LHR involved exiting the
aircraft to stand in a long line for baggage screening followed by a mad
rush to get back on the aircraft. The one hand bag per person rule is
strictly enforced here. And if you have infant feeding bottles that you
may have filled up on the flight, be prepared to dump it or sample each
bottle in front of security! The transit in Kuwait airport was bland.
There was utter chaos for the boarding on the KWI-COK flight as they had
moved another flight to the same gate (bus to the aircraft) after all
the passengers for our flight were in the closed holding area. I made
the return trip without the family and was glad the monitor was working
for the KWI-JFK flight. Service good, crew were pleasant and during
sleep time between services, snacks were available at the rear of the
aircraft if you were willing to venture back there. Without the working
monitor though, I'm sure my opinion of the airline would be completely
different. Overall impression: not bad, will travel this airline but
only after exhausting other choices.

If you have a choice do not fly this airline. My bags were slightly
overweight, for which I was charged an extortionate amount - only to
find out if I was Kuwaiti, this charge wouldn't apply! TV screen did
not work, staff unpleasant to say the least and the whole interior of
the plane was horrible, panels loose, seats wouldn't stay upright and
were ripped in many places. If Kuwait Airways wants to come close to
other airlines in the Middle East, a 110% overhaul would be required.

London to Bangkok return. Out of four seats, three failed to stay
upright, and all four had faults with movies - either no picture or no
sound. When we informed cabin crew, they just said yes, we know a lot of
the screens don't work. With a total of 27 hrs flying time that is in my
opinion not acceptable.

Heathrow to Bangkok return First Class. Food: Not bad - boarded starving
having missed breakfast - had to wait 2 hours before they would feed me
though. Beverages: Soft Drinks only. Entertainment: Awful - no movies
on demand just choice of about 10 channels. Seat - bad and old : at
full recline it's about 60% of the way there and your feet will be
crushed against the seat in front if you don't take them of the foot
rest. No laptop charge point. Sorry Kuwait Airways your going to have to
step up your game.

London Heathrow - NY JFK and return over the new year. Flight to NYC was
delayed. Could find no KA crew at the airport after security to ask how
long the delay was likely to be. Was 3.5hrs delayed in the end. Female
cabin crew were pretty rude. One (at least) could speak very limited
English. Inflight entertainment did not work on most seats. Food
limited. No alcohol. Plane was at least 3/4 empty. Return flight was
much better. No delay. Cabin crew (this time mostly male) were polite.
Flight was half empty. Flight fare was cheap, but I dont think I will
fly KA again.

BAH-KWI Business Class. Flew out with Gulf Air, back with Kuwait
Airways. At Bahrain, separate check-in for Business Class and First
Class passengers, with a small lounge area to wait in until the flight
is called. Easy check-in, with a pass to the Delmon Lounge issued.
However, the lounge was far from the gate at which we were boarding so
we did not take advantage of it. However, Bahrain Airport has improved
on its duty-free area since I last flew through, and this was a further
reason for not going through to the Delmon Lounge. The aircraft, an
Airbus A310, arrived on time, and we were allowed to board 30 minutes
prior to the scheduled take-off time. However, we did notice that, had
we been in the Delmon Lounge, the Y Class passengers would have been
allowed to board first, with the J Class passengers called for boarding
once the Y Class passengers had passed through the J cabin - quite
civilised. Once all J Class passengers were embarked, we were offered
arabic coffee and dates, again a nice touch. Once the doors had closed,
we were addressed from the flight deck, but the Captain must have been
reading from a script, and gabbled his way through it. After that, no
announcements. We pushed back on time for the 40-minute flight, which
was smooth and comfortable. A cold snack meal was served, which was a
little uninspired: however, it was on china with steel cutlery, and it
was presented well. The FA's were formal rather than friendly, but
efficient. The coffee served with the meal was excellent. Again, when
we left the aircraft, the cabin crew were in evidence, but had a rather
distant manner when wishing the passengers farewell. The aircraft was
parked at a gate close to the main arrivals hall, so reasonably fast
through immigration; the bags were already on the carousel, and a swift
pass through customs. All in all a very reasonable flight, but with a
crew lacking warmth and a real interest in the passengers.

JFK to TRV (Trivandrum) and return. Business Class. Check in was smooth,
seats were very comfortable with plenty of legroom. Onboard service was
excellent, very pleasing FAs, very good food that served from trolley in
china, with silverware and tablecloth. Dalman lounge at Kuwait was
superb; very clean and fresh. Excellent selections of food and drinks
(no alcohol) including a full service Costa counter(Costa is just like
Starbucks, but better). There is a small lounge at TRV also and it
provided some isolation from others. I liked the fact they let the
executive class travelers board at the end so you don’t have to queue
for security check. Then they will take you on an air-conditioned bus to
the plane. Overall, we had a great experience with KU and the fare for
Business class was excellent. Our total travel time was about 24 hours
each way but we were well rested (on the plane and at the lounge) and
not tired at all.

Frankfurt-Kuwait-Manila and back - cheap rates but even less value for
money! Inflight entertainment non existent ,food marginal at best! KA
require passengers to reconfirm their flights but the Tel numbers
provided are not working! I tried over a whole week and finally had to
get a travel agency to get a reconfirmation through a lengthy process
involving faxes back and forth! To make matters worse, this is the
second time in a row. No one seems to care once they have your money you
are left to fend for yourself. They like to change arrangements (in this
case departure gate during stopover in Kuwait) without making any
announcements. Keep your eyes and ears open, don't expect anyone to care
whether or not you catch your plane, it's your problem. They provide
transportation, and thats it period! I complained about this highly
annoying reconfirmation issue in Manila, they took my e-mail address and
(politely, yes!) promised a reply - nothing so far. To sum it up, they
have very good rates but what a headache! Never again.

LHR to JFK. Check in and flight staff polite and helpful - seating
comfortable. Not an airline for those into entertainment - as previous

bargain price, with good service, you can't beat Kuwait Airways.

Travelled London to JFK at Easter. If you really care about drinking
alcohol and using an entertainment system then this airline is not for
you. However, the flight was very comfortable both ways, with the cabin
being far from full. The stewards were pleasant and the food was fine.
The fare was also very low, especially considering this was at a holiday period.

Flew return from LHR to JFK. The flights were on time and very clean,
crew excellent and food wonderful. They were the best airline meals I
have ever tasted. I bought a few toys on the plane, at about a third of
the cost of any other inflight souvenirs I have ever seen, and the crew
gave me a few more for my grandchildren. The only problem with the
flight was the entertainment system, but on the way back as it wasn't a
full plane the crew moved me so I could have two seats to get
comfortable and a working monitor.

I flew to Bangkok via Kuwait over the Christmas period and found Kuwait
Airways very disappointing. The food wasn't that bad, but apart from
that, I can't think of a good thing to saye. There wasn't a good choice
of film and the one film that I did actually want to watch was on a
channel that didn't want to work. The whole entertainment system was
poor. The worst point about the flight was the inflight staff. The wait
in Kuwait airport is very boring, there is nothing but a Macdonalds &
pizza place to eat and only a small duty free shop. As mentioned in the
last opinion a snack was provided but was awful.

Flew to Bangkok from Heathrow over the Christmas New Year period -
ground crew at Heathrow were friendly. Had good seats, no alcohol but
no big deal - good choice of meals and tasty on outbound flight, but
not so nice on return. The wait for connecting flight at Kuwait was long
and boring and there is nothing to do - a snack was provided but was
poor. The return journey was worse- bad seats that didn't recline and a
long wait again - but this was the cheapest option to get to Bangkok
over Christmas.

London, Kuwait to Manila and back. Poorest airline I have used on long
haul. Most of seat tvs not working. Food very poor. Staff mostly
Bulgarian - they were okay but had limited things they could give out.
No alcohol, which in itself was okay, but selection of juices was cola,
sprite, orange juice and a diluted pineapple juice only. Duty free
terrible - no one bought anything. Don't use this airline if you can
help it.

8 January 2006
We had a disastrous time with Kuwait Airways. Please avoid this airline
if at all possible. All the other airlines that fly from the US to India
make one stop: British in London, Lufthansa in Frankfurt and so on.
Kuwait Airways makes two stops, in London and then in Kuwait. This
makes for a significantly longer and more tiring journey. Unlike most
other airlines KA does not preassign seats. I called them a few days
before our trip and requested 5 seats together. When we got to the
airport -- in plenty of time -- there was no record of our request and
we were assigned separate seats. This got worse during our return.
When we were checking in at Bombay we put our bags on the belt. After
the bags gone, the agent asked, "how many bags did you have", we said 7.
I have only 6 tags he said. This did get straightened out after some
running around and anxiety. They booked us through to New York but could
not print out boarding passes for the Kuwait to New York leg. When we
landed in Kuwait we had to run -- the flight was late -- to the transit
desk to get our boarding cards. Again, although we had reconfirmed our
flight and requested seats together there was no record of our request.
We were seated separately and my wife and I got stuck in middle seats of
a 4 seater. Shortly after taking off from London, my wife tore open the
plastic wrapping around a blanket and found the blanket smelling. On
opening the blanket we found it had fresh vomit on it! We complained to
the head purser who was nice but said he had no idea how it could have
happened as all blankets were dry-cleaned after use and inspected.
Clearly, this one was not! As you may know, KA does not serve alcohol in
the air. Nor is there alcohol available in Kuwait Airport. The food is
close to the bottom for airline food.

Flight was on time but I would discourage anyone from flying this
airline. No attention was give to our children, the child menus we
ordered were not delivered and every TV monitor on the plane was broken.
On the flight back to Manila exactly the same was true with the
entertainment system broken on every seat, poor meals and average service.

My wife and I had a very pleasant surprise in store on our recent Kuwait
Airways flight in F class from JFK to LHR. They use the Swiss F lounge
which was the only sore spot - very poor lounge. Flight left on time.
The onboard staff were excellent! Delicious food served from trollies,
with nice place settings, crystal, silver, the usual nicities in
international F. Many selections for starters (Western and Arabic),
including caviar service, plus salad, soup (hot!), good mains, cheese
plate, fruits, ice cream, dessert, hot tea, espresso. Very elegant
presentation and warm, polite FAs. Landed on time and were the first off
while others in C and Y held back. The seats are more like business
class, but the cabin was spotless. Excellent value for money. Would fly
them again!
