ICN-LAX inBusiness Class. I connected from an Asiana flight from DEL, so had to pick up an onward
boarding pass at the transfer desk. The line was long but desk well staffed. The business class
lounge at ICN is nice; plenty of room and a nice view of the runways, though food selection could be
better. B747-400, with my seat on the lower deck. The interior was immaculate. FAs friendly and
attentive, though lacking a little warmth. Drinks offered upon boarding, with one additional round
before dinner. Dinner service very good; go with the Korean selection (bibimbap) and you won't be
disappointed. I overslept the beginning of the breakfast service, but FAs were nice enough to save me
a plate and bring it when I woke up. The seat was a typical C class seat with 170-degree recline. It
was comfortable enough for sleeping, though when sitting up, the bottom cushion is a little hard,
leading to "saddle sore". IFE was AVOD and offered a lot to choose from, though I didn't care much
for the movie selection. The priority tags worked at LAX, and I got my bag within 15 minutes.
Overall, this was a high-quality service, though not quite as good as Asiana.

HKG-ICN, ICN-NRT business class. I'd been looking forward to trying Korean cuisine and it did not
disappoint. The bibimbap was definitely a positive experience. FAs were fantastic. IFE was OK,
nothing memorable. I'd happily fly them again in business class.

YYZ-ICH-PVG in Business Class. Plane YYZ to ICH a bit dated. One overhead screen for entire Business
Class. FA professional and attentive. Service with a smile. Food of good quality. Although, no
personal amenity kit was provided for the 13 hour trip. Lounge at ICH was extremely full - service of
personnel was attentive and professional. Appreciated the premium service provided for Business Class
considering the premium paid for the ticket. Return flight was also notable for the service.

JFK-ICN-NRT-ICN-JFK in economy. The first leg of the trip was very comfortable, with personal AVODs,
lots of seat space on B777, and attentive staff. Pleasantly surprised by ICN-NRT and back with
B777s again, with personal AVODs, great service, and the fact that both ways were half booked made
it all the more comfortable. The way back to JFK was a bit disappointing. I was on one of the older
747s with less seat pitch and was uncomfortable moving around and sleeping. But they still had AVOD.

9 August 2007 Customer Trip Rating :
ICN-GUM Rountrip in Business Class. An old version B777-200 and you get to sit on the first class
seats if you check in early. Since it was the vacation season, there were kids running around the
cabin, crying babies etc - and FA's were just too courteous to stop them. The service was very good
but presentation and selection of the meal were questionable for Western & Korean menu. Not much
better than the Y class meal of some other airline other than being served in ceramic dishes and real
glasses. Seats were comfortable, the first class but old style recliner type. Overall, nice experience
but not 5-star due to the inability to contain young passengers in a late night flight.

My partner and I flew economy class to Seoul and then on to Auckland. I
had not flown for nearly 20 years so was very apprehensive. The staff

FUK-ICN-IST-economy. Reading through the comments prior to our flight I
expected more from Korean Air. The first leg was only an hour, just
normal. The long-haul flight though was a complete disappointment - no
personal IFE screens, food pretty ordinary. In-flight magazines in
terrible condition - ends were folded so it was a challenge to open and
browse normally. It was ironic that many of the texts inside were
advertising all recent achievements of the airline - new cabin design,
award-winning economy class, etc. FAs were fairly helpful, but far from
the best we've met. Shades remained closed for most of the time
although many of the passengers really wanted to watch outside for there
was nothing else to do. An ordinary 3-star airline experience.

ICN-SYD-ICN-NRT in business as part of a round the world trip. Service
and food great but you do have to ask for cocktails, they are not
offered. The ramon snack offered between meals is outstanding. On long-
haul Seoul - Sydney and return the seats are not lie flat but the old
fashioned cradle seat which I cannot sleep on. My suitcase did not make
the connection from ICN-NRT and staff fell all over themselves
apologizing. Business class lounge at ICN was crowded but one of the
best for amount of food offered (I was embarrassed by how much food many
of the business class passengers took, you'd think they hadn't eaten in
a week and most of them were about to get on a flight that had dinner
service).

Sydney-Turkey-Rome-Sydney. All staff both on the ground and in-flight
very courteous. One could not complain about service or meals. The
Korean meal which was served on all four legs that we did was very nice
and tasty but there was no other choice apart from a European meal. Our
stopover in Seoul all inclusive in fare was exceptional. The overnight
stay was at Hyatt Regency where they could not do enough for you.
Breakfast exceptional. Would fly them again. Best way to fly to Europe
without jetlag!

LHR-ICN-AKL and back. Party of 11 (4 adults, 7 children age 6 to 14)
flew economy. Overall very happy with airline. Staff very courteous and
helpful even those with limited English and they constantly supplied
water/juice as required. IFE quite good, though seatback screens were
only available on final leg back to LHR. Classical music station on
radio great to induce sleep. Food was challenging with so many children
to cater for. Smaller ones ate practically nothing for two 11 hour
flights. Adults tried Korean option on flight from LHR/ICN but avoided
it on other flights as it was really not to our liking. Western option
ok, at least we could eat most of it. Tried to book kids meals in
Auckland before flying home but were told we had to give 72 hours notice
- a bit unacceptable surely. Had to bring a supply of rolls and fruit
on ourselves. Were partially saved on final leg from ICN/LHR by
fantastic air hostess with a good grasp of English who provided kids
with packs of pizza. This was not offered on previous flights so I don't
know if it is always available. Stayed in Hyatt Regency in Incheon on
way back as part of flight package. Wonderful hotel and outstanding
breakfast buffet. Made sure kids ate as much as they could before flight
to LHR! I would fly with Korean Air again but would be concerned about
the food options they provide for children.

27 April 2007 Customer Trip Rating :
Bombay to Seoul then onto San Francisco in Business Class. Both flights
did not have AVOD entertainment. I felt this was strange as the journey
from Bombay to ICN and onto San Francisco are both very long haul.
Sitting in a seat for 8-10 hours with no entertainment makes a long
flight longer. The only entertainment was the airshow on the screen. The
headphones were very cheap, the service was ok though the flight staff
was not very good in English communication. The food was very ordinary.
The lounge at ICN was excellent with very helpful staff. I will not be
flying Korean Air again, unless there is AVOD entertainment. The strange
thing is Korean provides better entertainment on flights to LA, Atlanta,
NY, Chicago and Seattle.

AKL-ICN-ZRH with complimentary overnight stay at the Hyatt Regency
Incheon. This package is a great way of flying from Oceania to Europe.
Airplanes on both legs a little tired but it doesnt actually matter so
much, I find it's not too hard to get by without individual screens and
all these gimmicks. I understand Korean Air has a very high number of
orders on new planes (A380/B787/B777) which should replace the older
planes. Looking forward to new planes. Service was exceptional. If you
press the service button you dont have to wait more than 10-20seconds
and an FA will be with you. Food is very very yummy if you order the
Korean option. Be a bit courageous and try it!! Flight from Auckland
packed as always, flight to Zurich less than half full, which made it
more comfortable of course. Passengers mostly Koreans so brace yourself
for Then the best part of it all, the stay in the hotel. It's a top of
the class hotel so if you have an overnight stay there, dress a bit well
otherwise you will feel out of place! The breakfast buffet best I have
ever seen. Again, try some Korean breakfast, i.e. seaweed soup and the
delicious mango yoghurt! After the night at the Hyatt you will feel
ready for the longish trip to Europe/America. Also, spend some time at
the airport itself. In my opinion the best in the world. Overall I give
it a good 4 stars.

ATL-ICN and return in Economy in a 747-400. Very happy with this flight.
Last four rows of this aircraft have a 2-4-2 format instead of 3-4-3 so
I reserved a window seat in the back. Left an hour late from Atlanta.
Plenty of room for my 5’-9” frame. Comfortable seats. Nice little
amenity packets. Great AVOD system that helps the time fly by. Food was
OK. Service exceptional. Korean Air is much better than Cathay Pacific
for long haul economy flights.

NRT-ICN-BKK and return in Business Class. The cabin attendants on all
four legs were warm, friendly, service-oriented crew members. I used
the KE Prestige Lounge in NRT. Pleasant, but nothing to write home
about (other than the Kirin beer on tap and great runway views). The
777-200 from NRT to ICN featured the new J seats. They reminded me
quite a bit of Continental BusinessFirst 777 seats (although the layout
was 2-3-2 unlike Continental's 2-2-2, so they were a bit more narrow).
SKY entertainment system the best I have ever seen. ICN Prestige Lounge
has excellent facilities, including buffet, business center, and shower
rooms. 777-300 from ICN to BKK featured excellent service, with a
several course meal served from carts. Return leg from BKK - used the
Air France lounge at BKK (excellent lounge; considering they only offer
1 flight a day to BKK, they have invested quite heavily in lounge
facilities, including business center and showers). Upgraded to First
from BKK to ICN, although can't remark on service because I slept the
entire red-eye. Used showers at ICN airport and continued to NRT in
traditional J seats; impressive meal and cabin staff for such a short
flight. I find the traditional J cradle seats to be very comfortable.
Highly recomend them for excellent lounges (ICN), New entertainment
system, phenomenal crews, and above-average catering.

Roundtrip LAX-ICN in a 747-400 and ICN-MNL in a 777-300 in Prestige
(business) class. Service on the ground and from the FA's with a smile.
747 & 777 had the latest everything which functioned perfectly. The food
selection was excellent. The only negative would be the near lie-flat
sleeping comfort in the Prestige seats on the 747. While better than
seating in economy, I just couldn't get comfortable enough to fall
asleep until I was so tired I couldn't stay awake any longer. The
business lounges at LAX and MNL acceptable, with food and beverages kept
stocked.

BNE-ICN & ICN-ATL return in economy. The service was excellent- the
hostesses were friendly and response was always quick and very polite.
The hindu meals were quite good - although after 3 legs of flying you do
notice some repeat meals. The traditional korean bipim-bop looked quite
interesting as well. Seats were a bit tight on the A300 and found it
hard to sleep even with the seat reclined. The inflight entertainment
to and from USA on the 747-400 was excellent with over 30 movies
available. They also have a very nice music system which lets you
select tracks from a wide variety of albums and create you own playlist
to listen to as you want to. This inflight entertainment was in direct
contrast to the BNE-ICN flight where upgrade is seriously needed
especially since this is a 10hr flight. You have to rely on the central
screen to watch the movies and is made worse when they show a Korean
movie on it. My advice if you're flying from Australia to ICN - bring
an Ipod.

After many flights I finally hit the jackpot and was upgraded to
business class. However I don't think Korean Airlines business class
really measures up. The service was very good, there was an amazing
amount of room and it was much more comfortable, but even in business
Korean doesn't have seat back TV, and the seat was a just a bigger
version of a regular economy seat. If I had paid the amazing amount they
charge for business class, I would have been less than happy. But I
didn't, so it was great and probably an experience I won't have too
often.

JFK-ICN in Economy, and ICN-SYD in Business. JFK-ICN flight in 747 with ecxellent AVOD in Economy.
Connection to ICN-SYD flight on older 747 in Business. Service was also outstanding, but I have experienced
much better biz class comfort (better seats, no AVOD in this plane, no amenity kits). Overall, Korean Air
was a pleasant experience. On the older planes, biz class is not worth it. On the newer planes, among the best
Economy flights I have ever had.

FRA-ICN in First Class with Korean Air. The food was fantastic with
Caviar and extremely tasty. The service by the flight attendants was
almost perfect. I liked the new seats which are very comfortable. Video-
on demand-system is good as well. The only downside was that Korean uses
the Delta C Class lounge in FRA, and also Korean Air don’t offer duvets
for a night flight and no large pillows. There are no amenity kits either.

SYD-ICN-IAD and back in economy. This is the second time I've flown to
the eastern US from Australia on Korean in the last 3 years; while it's
undoubtedly longer than a direct trans-Pacific flight, Korean often
offer highly competitive fares over the year end period that make them
an attractive option. The other pluses with Korean are attentive cabin
staff, some of the best food I've encountered in economy (so long as you
choose the Korean option - and aren't put off by chilli paste and sesame
oil), spotlessly clean facilities, and excellent leg room. The only
real negatives I experienced were the cabin crew were occasionally
strict about insisting on window blinds being closed. Sometimes the
cabin crew can't hide their surprise when a westerner insists on the
Korean food option. Korean are still in the process of upgrading the
entertainment in their fleet. Sydney-Incheon flights are still a little
old-fashioned, with no seat back entertainment. Incheon-Washington
Dulles have AVOD with an extensive selection of new and old films. My
screen from Dulles had colour problems, but fortunately I had a row of
seats to myself, and just switched seats. When I had some configuration
problems on the way to Washington, however, and couldn't switch to an
adjacent seat, this was dealt with courteously and promptly. We did have
to spend the night in Incheon on the way to Washington, and because the
fare was a special offer we had to arrange accommodation ourselves.
There are any number of options available within 15 minutes of the
airport, however, that anyone with access to the internet can book
themselves, and that will usually pick you up and drop you off again.
All in all, I enjoy flying Korean, and if it wasn't for the extra length
of the travel time to the eastern US, would be tempted to fly them more
often. As it is, the year end fares are often so low (relatively
speaking) that the combination of fare, service, food and seats do make
them an attractive trans-Pacific option (when Korean don't have a
special fare going, however, I'd rather just get there as quickly as
possible). Now if they could just upgrade the entertainment on that

My wife and I cashed in a lot of miles to fly from Detroit to Sydney
using Delta and Skyteam partner Korean Air. That meant flying to
Atlanta, Seoul and then the final leg on into Sydney. Long haul service
from Atlanta to Incheon was on a 747-400 with the old, standard business
class interior. We flew in the upper deck. When everybody went to
sleep and reclined, we were prisoners in our own seats and had to awaken
the passengers ahead of us in order to get up and use the lav. The
Korean Air flight crew was quite good. However as somebody else pointed
out, they don't like to pour a lot of wine! The 10 hour segment from
Incheon to Sydney was an A330-300. Seating slightly more cramped. The
return from Incheon to Atlanta, also upstairs in a 747-400, had slightly
more seat pitch room. Korean Air is no Singapore or Emirates but they
do a good job in biz class.

Brisbane-Seoul-London return in Economy. Older planes but some with new
interior, no seatback entertainment on any sector except ICN-LHR makes
flights long and boring. Most sectors fully booked, legroom OK for
economy. Food varied with edible meals out of Brisbane but on return
journey food out of LHR was terrible. Would advise people to take snacks
if travelling with children. Plenty of juice and water offered through
all flights. Cabin crew impressed us, picking up rubbish, cleaning
toilets and quick polite response to passenger requests. Stopover in
Seoul on outward journey at Regency Hyatt, nice rooms and excellent
breakfast, dinner very disappointing.

LAX-Narita, and Bangkok-LAX with change of planes in Seoul. Overall,
service and comfort okay, though nothing special. Lack of in-seat
monitor for movies on all but one flight was a bummer (all had to watch
the same lousy flicks). Boarding at the new Bangkok airport was
chaotic, but that was at least half the fault of the poorly-designed
airport with inadequate space for boarding passengers to line up.

SYD-INC. Booked economy, but upgraded to business because flight was
overbooked. Whilst it was a treat to fly business class, I was surprised
there is no PVT let alone AVOD. This is not great in economy but in
business it is very below average. The food and service were great but
they only offer drinks outside the meal service if asked.

SAV-ATL-ICN-BKK & return in Business Class. Our seats were upstairs on
the 747 with new seats. Seats very comfortable, and AVOD was a real
treat. FAs were concerned about everyone's comfort and that their needs
were meet. KAL in ICN was very nice with plenty of food and drink but
the best part was the shower! What a relief after 15 hours in flight.
ICN-BKK on 737 with old seats which were still comfy & roomy. First
class seats (old style) on our trip ICN-ATL and that was even roomier
than the new BC seat. FAs again as attentive as they could be. I'm not
sure what the difference is between a 4* & 5* airline but we would fly

CDG-Incheon in Business. Booked Air France but flight was operated by
KE. Older 747-400 but with brand new interior. AVOD now available with
big selection of music and movies. New lie flat seats. Food and beverage

with their wine. The glasses could not have been smaller and refills are
only provided on demand. FAs friendly and efficient.

Toronto to Seoul While the FA's were quite helpful in terms of service,
the trip was not what I call a memorable experience. Not really the
staffs fault, but more of the Korean passengers who make the flight
almost nightmarish at times. I have flown this airline a couple times as
I do some business back and forth, and always there is some kind of
drama with the Korean passengers. They alone are reason I almost wouldnt
recommend the airline. The food is not very good. Bibombip was awful,
and the western choices, when available, are Koreanized to indedible.
Drinks are good though. Inflight entertainment was almost all in Korean.
Overall, not a pleasant flight.

London to Seoul then onto Auckland. Both flights did not have AVOD
entertainment. I felt this was strange as the journey from London to ICN
and onto Auckland are both very long haul. Sitting in a seat for 12
hours with no entertainment makes a long flight longer. All carriers
from London to Asia have vod as standard. I will definitely not be
flying Korean Air again, if anyone in London is considering flying back
to NZ for a holidays, you may want to choose Malaysian airline,
Singapore or Cathay Pacific or Air NZ all of which have VOD as standard
on all flights to NZ.

LHR/ICN/AKL and SYD/ICN/LHR return. On the outward the plane was a
747-400, barely half full so had 3 seats to myself and enjoyed the
Korean Bibimbap meal as usual followed by a good sleep. Their breakfast
service European option of omelette was acceptable but not inspiring.
The transfer at ICN was painless and then a packed flight on a 777-300
to AKL. The real plus point for Korean are their FA's .. attentive,
impeccably turned out, polite and with genuine smiles. As I rarely
bother with IFE the lack of personal screens was no loss, although I can
understand that for some people, particularly those with children, this
would be a problem. They dont offer alcohol except for a glass of wine
or so at main meals, although it is available if you ask for it. I
noticed that all requests by other people for service were always dealt
with quickly by the staff. They however have lots of soft drinks
available to help yourself in the galley during mid flight. The return
SYD/ICN was great as I was placed upstairs on a 747-400 in Business
class cabin but with Economy service, and the wide comfy seat was a real
bonus on this 10 hour daytime flight. My onward flight was the following
day and I spent the night at Koreans expense at the Hyatt Regency, 3
mins from the terminal. The transfer and accomodation arrangements were
painless, the hotel was fantastic - a large contemporary room, with very
comfortable bed, and a great pool and spa. 3 course set dinner and then
buffet breakfast thrown in .. what more could you want ? The ICN/LHR
flight was another long day time flight, busy but not full and again
with good service. I have flown to NZ 7 times in recent years and 5 of
those have been with Korean. They could improve perhaps on IFE but their
legroom and FA's and the impecable airport at ICN are are the real
draws.

LAX-ICN-SHE in Economy. I was pleasantly surprised with the seemingly
new 747 and AVOD options on the LAX-ICN leg that rivaled the systems in
place by certain five-star airlines. I requested a window seat near the
back of the aircraft, where there are 2 seats on the far sides instead
of three. This was essential, as there is plenty of space between the
seat and the window to store my small briefcase. Legroom was adequate,
and my special (diabetic) meal, while lacking in variety, were tasty and
edible. Breakfast on the ICN-SHE flight was the same as the LAX-ICN
flight, but quite nice and efficient, considering the relatively short
flight. Overall, staff language skills are minimal when it comes to
English, but they are quite passable. KE is easily a 4-star airline, and
I will not hesitate to travel with them on future Asia travels.
KOREAN AIR review - by Andy Gray
5 October 2006
BNE-ICN-LHR return Economy. Ground staff at Incheon could improve their
level of their English language skills, or at least be able to contact
someone who speaks English competently. Basic information was dealt
effectively any unusual request led to a breakdown in communication,
e.g. when we attempted to find out the security situation at Heathrow
before checking in we ended up with a confused explanation and were
shunted off to the queue for passengers going to USA. Once the above
misunderstanding was resolved check in was fast and efficient.
My wife's request for specific aisle seat because of a medical condition
was dealt with efficiently at all stages of the trip. we were located
next to vacant seat on final BNE leg so that she could take advantage of
the additional space. Food was in small portions and there seemed to be
limited provision for those wanting Western meals. There also seems to a
limited and repetitive menu available. I ended up getting 'bibimbap' (a
Korean rice dish which I quite liked) three occasions out of our four
flights because western meals were not available. The quality of
Western meals left something to be desired - the scrambled eggs were
tasteless and were over salted. My wife had what we think could have
been a 'pasta' and 'meat' dish but 'pasta' was leathery and 'meat' was
shredded. Two pieces of pineapple in her 'breakfast' meal were
uneatable. Several pieces of fruit that I had were looking very tired
and dry. Water was distributed sparingly and always seem to come in
half-full cups. Choice of fruit juice were limited to apple or orange,
usually it was either water or orange. However any Requests for
additional water or juice were met quickly. There were also supplies of
drinking water available in the aircraft toilets. There was no offering
of beer though it too could be requested and was provided quickly
The chief consideration was the relatively poor in-flight entertainment
arrangements. On the flight from Brisbane to Incheon (A330) the aircraft
had drop-down screens usual with this type and the Incheon-London
sector, on a 747 had personal audio/video on demand. The return from
London to Incheon was on an early model 747 which had a single projector
per section showing limited selection of entertainment. I haven't seen
this arrangement since the early nineties. Since I slept a fair portion
of this sector I didn't really mind. I understand that the airline is
upgrading their aircraft but they really will have to improve their game
in this area. Seating provided me with good leg room though the seat
padding could be improved, especially for the long haul sectors.
Cabin crew were neat, well trained, efficient and friendly. Provided a
high standard of service and quick to respond to passenger requests.
Good attention and support was provided to families and to small
children. The crew's English capabilities were relatively limited but
sufficient for most occasions. Korean Air are providing a good standard
of service. They do provide value for money but really need to work
harder in the areas of catering and in-flight entertainment At present
they are a good carrier, but not quite 4 stars. Would I fly with Korea
Air again? - a qualified yes.

quick and efficient. The flight departed right on time. The B747-400 was old but quite clean, seats
were comfortable. In-flight service was excellent. There ware choice of Korean or Western foods. The
portion was generous and the Korean food I chose was good. The FA's were polite and efficient

LAX-ICN-HKG-ICN-LAX Business Class. Both LAX-ICN and ICN-HKG were the
new business class seats (lie flat) with 170 degrees bed with AOD.
Pretty good size monitor and kept me entertained throughout the flight.
Service is always good on KE. However overnight flight from LAX-ICN
offer small meals. Bad for passengers who are connecting through LAX.
ICN-HKG surprisingly had the new lie flat seats for a short 3 hrs
flight. Business class passengers were given a 30 mins coupon to use the
internet onboard using your laptop which was nice to check my emails and
to chat with few friends! The flight back HKG-ICN-LAX both flights had
the lie flat seats. ICN-LAX had great food as always, but isn't it time
to have a new korean menu besides the bibimbap which I have been eating

with 34". No PTVs as expected (I understand installation is in
progress.). Flight attendants very helpful and friendly. Always had a
smile at their face. I was served with orange juice or water before the
meal. The second leg to YVR was a 777-200 again. Seats same with no PTV
but again comfortable. Flight attendants were not that bright this time,
but still helpful and friendly. This time I got amenity kit, which was
pretty. Dinner again with bibimbap, again delicious. Flight attendants
serving people water all the time. The call button was useful, a flight
attendant immediately came after I pressed it. Breakfast was delicious.
I chose a Korean Porridge. The whole flight was really pleasant and I
would fly them again. Note that their new uniform are really bright and
clean. If they have a self-service bar service like JAL/ANA on their
long-haul flights, then that would be better.
