Melbourne-Bangkok. Herded onto the flight for our 2.30pm departure only to be left sitting on the plane at the gate for over 2 hours while the Captain waited on some final paperwork after the plane had been in maintenance. We eventually pushed back from the terminal only to be told there was a problem with the plane, that we were all to disembark and to contact the desk for our onward travel arrangements! After 15 minutes, we were told the plane was being repaired and that we would have a 6.15pm departure. After 6pm we all boarded the plane again, pushed back from the terminal only to return with yet another problem with the plane. Back to the terminal we went but were kept on the plane with only a small cup lukewarm water provided while we were left sitting on the plane for over an hour. Our 2.30pm flight eventually left just after 8.00pm.

Flew MEL to SIN on Jetstar as part of a One world alliance RTW ticket so flight was on a Qantas code share. Was therefore a bit annoyed to discover when checking in online that food, drink and at seat entertainment was extra cost on what was an 8 hour flight. Apparently these could be paid for in advance but discovered this too late. Also did not get BA air miles even though it had a Qantas codeshare. Managed to get an upgrade to business for cash at the airport which then included meals etc. Business was fine although more like BA Premium Economy but at a higher walk on cost.

CHC-AKL-JQ. Flight left 10 mins early and landed 15 mins early. Flight was good, beverages and food were served at a cost. At the airport waited 45 mins before first bag was off the plane.

Singapore to Darwin. Once all the passengers had boarded was told the flight was overbooked and there would be a short delay. Left 1 hr 20 mins later. Very little info was given as to the reason for the delay. I could see luggage being taken off the flight before takeoff, it was not until we arrived in Darwin that we were told our luggage was left behind after waiting at the Carousel for 20 minutes and only after asking an employee. Not good enough!

SYD-HNL-SYD in business (Star Class). Flights were on time, however service both inflight and on the ground was a bit hit and miss. It ranged from OK to downright terrible: on the outbound flight there was a good FA. Check-in staff at HNL tried to herd us into the economy check-in queue even after we identified ourselves as business passengers and were extremely reluctant to check us in. Seats are OK, the foot rest I had on the inbound flight didn't come up properly so no so comfortable. Food and IFE ok for our needs. Overall, value for money, service going downhill compared to flights on the same route in previous years.

Booked flights 8 months in advance. We specifically booked direct flights leaving at 12 pm so we wouldn't have to haul two small kids out of bed in the early hours of the morning. Well both flights were canceled, and then rescheduled for different days at 6 am. Apparently this is common practice at Jetstar. Personally I don't think those flights actually exist and are only advertised so they can run some sort of bait and switch routine. Jestar is a Qantas subsidiary, but since Qantas is Australia's flag carrier they still have a reputation to worry about.

MEL-SIN return A330-200. More legroom than expected. Pre-booked meals and entertainment unit. They gave us 2 meals each flight that tasted pretty good for airline food. Water had to be purchased by the bottle or collected from drinking fountain. Seat was comfortable, cabin crew were adequate.

Singapore to Auckland return. Their plane and business class were not new and cannot compare with top full service companies. Food was quite acceptable with a choice in the menu. Seats are recliner which are not very comfortable but it is absolutely not like a premium class as I have read before. The video system is not convenient as it is not fixed on the seat, movie choice is limited and on the way back, they just informed us that they could not provide any video due to a problem they had with their provider in Singapore. Staff on board were efficient and polite but I would not say the same thing with their ground staff, especially in Auckland. I was denied access to business lounge in Auckland but I could access it easily in Singapore. Overall it was a pleasant experience, at least inflight!

Flight from Coolangatta to Melbourne cancelled and text sent at 4 am. Had to rebook another flight 3 hrs later. New flight was held up 25 mins waiting for other passengers who did not turn up. Why on earth you would hold up a couple of hundred people waiting 25 mins is beyond me. Cabin staff doing announcements could not speak clear English and were very difficult to understand. Not impressed. Bring back tiger if you ask me!

Melbourne-Hobart. Checked into Jetstar kiosk at Melbourne where I printed a luggage tag and boarding pass. As I handed the bag for weighing, the counter agent said I was switched to another flight, which left out of Gate 24. At Gate 24 I heard flight 707 to Hobart being called out of another gate. Seems I was given another reservation (for a young lady) and my bag was to go to an entirely different location. I was told they would pull my luggage and get it on my flight. Currently I am waiting for my bag to travel to Launceston, back to Melbourne and hopefully on to Hobart. Once onboard, I had placed my computer bag under the seat in front of me. Being in exit row, there was additional leg room. But upon landing, I was asked to "Put my bag up as it wasn't supposed to be there for take off and landing."

On a 10 hour flight from Auckland to Singapore, they did not have enough food! 10 minutes after they started serving, they had run out of sandwiches and muffins. They said hot food should have been ordered in advance and we should have known that. It is not mentioned on the website and I have not encountered such a situation before. They only had pot noodles, which cost 5 Australian dollars and payment could only be made by credit card. For the use of a blanket they demanded payment. Staff were unfriendly, inattentive and rude.

HNL-SYD in Star Class aboard a new A330-200. On time departure and arrival in Sydney was a few minutes early. The seats were comfortable, wide and featured generous leg room. The leg rest did not come out very far, so I did not find it to be particularly useful or comfortable. The cabin crew were young, attentive and generally friendly. The food was better than expected with reasonable sized and tasty portions served on china. Three options were available for lunch. Afternoon tea consisted of cheese cake or cheese and biscuits. AVOD was provided in the back of the seat in front. The IFE system uses the same interface as Qantas' IFE and therefore is easy to use. Unfortunately, the range of movies and television shows was not particularly extensive. It is true that Star Class will not rival the business class offerings of most other airlines, but for a fifth of the price it doesn't need to. Star Class is more on par with other airlines premium economy offerings, but is cheaper than most of them.

Melbourne to Brisbane. We departed 5 minutes early and the trip to Brisbane was smooth. The cabin crew were friendly and helpful. We flew directly into Brisbane airport despite unsettled weather and low cloud and the landing was smooth. We arrived 15 mins early, our baggage arrived in reasonable time. Overall, the whole experience exceeded my expectations.

SYD-OOL-NAR. I got these flights for $650 return so it's hard to make an issue. Sydney to Gold Coast had no dramas. If you have a long transit (4-5 hours) at Gold Coast and flying with Jetstar I recommend the Jetstar Lounge. $10 pre-purchase or $15 at the door. Lots to eat and drink (beer/wine inclusive), comfy lounges and plenty of power points. Gold Coast to Tokyo was quite good, plane was looking old and worse for wear. Food was fine. Return flight was at night time. All lights in the cabin were switched off except for one in the back corner of the cabin near the toilets. Flight attendants tried to make-do by using sticky tape and a blanket to cover the light to no avail. It was fine for me as I was in a different section of the cabin, but felt sorry for passengers in that area, most were moved as the flight wasn't too full. Was able to sleep over two seats as the flight wasn't full.

Two return flights between Melbourne and Launceston on consecutive weekends. The service was very lacklustre. The boarding staff usually don't speak to you apart from a "turn it off now" if you have an SMS boarding pass. Only one cabin supervisor out of the 4 bothered with any sort of welcome announcement or introduction to the cabin crew, is it that hard to utter a few nice sentences over a PA? Flights were all mostly on time. As a bit of a flight pauper I have been priced out of Virgin and forced to fly with these guys. I remember when Tiger were on this route the average price was around $40/50, not it's about $80/90 but the service has definitely deteriorated.

Singapore to Beijing round trip. Their refurbished A330 was much more comfortable than their A320 aircraft, with more legroom which is almost equivalent to a full fare airline's leg room. Personal AVOD embedded into the back of every seat. Food was pricey and limited but satisfactory as a low cost airline. Staff service was fine. Our seat choices were not given to us on both the inbound and outbound despite paying an extra 80 dollars to reserve those seats. Many people on the same flight had the same problem. Ticketing staff had to bump other people out to allocate us the seats we paid for which caused a delay on our departure. Overall, the price is a bargain however do be prepared to possibly face these problems, an improvement they need to make.

Singapore-Beijing return. Outbound flight check-in was okay, less queues because they had dedicated check- in counter for customers who had done web check-in. Flight departed and arrived on time. The crews were okay, nothing special. Limited range of food and snacks offered during the flight so I didn't order anything. IFE was poor with limited number of movies to choose from. Inbound flight check-in was poor, no dedicated web check-in counter. Flight departed late due to smog in Beijing and slow service from ground staff. Crew training should be improved. During the flight, one crew taught the other crew on how to use the credit card reader for customer orders. It should have been done in training, not during the flight. Arrived 2.5 hours late.

Darwin-Manila. After arriving in Darwin at 1pm I was told the flight to Manila was delayed - until 8am the next day! Jetstar arranged accommodation and meals. On the delayed flight the next day they gave all passengers a free hot meal. Unfortunately around 6 other Jetstar flights that day and the next were disrupted by the delay. They need to have better arrangements in place to handle the problem and more aircrafts available to help in these situations.

HNL-SYD in Business (Star) Class. After the seat assignment disaster on my outbound flight, Jetstar managed to do it again on my return flight. I booked and reserved a business class seat 4 months before the flight and when I checked in they issued me a boarding pass for a different seat. I was given a ‘crew rest’ seat. After I sat down upon boarding, the flight attendant wanted to know why I was sitting there. I produced the boarding pass as evidence, she promptly informed me I couldn't sit there and 'relocated' me shortly after takeoff. This is evidence of a poorly run and managed airline that can't even manage the seat assignment process. Their business class seats are the most uncomfortable I can remember flying. They've taken ‘three generation old’ Qantas business class seats and put them so close together your knees bump into the seat in front of you. You can really pay only a very small premium to fly a full service airline to avoid all of this nonsense and have comfort and a chance to sleep. One positive is that the ground and inflight staff are friendly and energetic, and at the end of the flight the lead FA came over to discuss the situation and apologize.

SYD-HNL in Business/Star Class. I can honestly say this was the worst international business class flight I have had. Star Class isn't really international business class, it is more akin to US domestic first class. Cabin is cramped, seats are uncomfortable, leg rest is worthless, there is very little legroom. To make matters worse, after a smooth check-in, I was paged by Jetstar and asked to see the gate agent, urgently. They told me they had changed my seat assignment, the explanation was they needed to 'accommodate other customers'. I had a full fare business ticket so presumably that didn't carry much weight. The move was to a bulkhead seat, which I expressed concerns about, relating to lack of legroom. The sad truth was that there was 24 inches of room between the edge of the seat and the wall, not enough room to extend my legs, so I sat the entire 10 hour trip in a virtual upright position unable to stretch out and sleep. This is on top of inedible food and poor IFE.

MEL-SIN-MEL in Star Class. Friendly, young crew who at times lacked a bit of professionalism. However, service was efficient. Seat comfort better than expected - the older Millennium type business class seats I did sleep for a few hours on overnight flight. Meals average and below that of a true business class offering, but in line with the Jetstar product offering. AVOD entertainment system was woeful, limited and uninspiring choices in movies, TV and music content. Would consider flying again but only if the price was right.

BNE-DRW on A320. Checked in at the desk and got exit row window. Despite near full plane there was a spare seat between me and other passenger. Flight left 45 minutes late because of no-show passengers and bags being unloaded. A lot of food on the menu that was sold out or unavailable, FA's were very apologetic. Because the BNE-DRW flight is listed as an international flight (as it continues to Bali), you can only use a credit card to make purchases for food and AVOD. Some people were caught out by this. FA's were helpful and friendly. Uneventful four hour flight. Will continue to fly with Jetstar if the price is right.

Launceston to Sydney return on A320. Both flights left on time and were full. Check-in was quick and efficient. Outbound the aircraft was clean however on the return it was a little dirty and shabby. The support in my seat was lacking and but not unbearable for a 2 hour flight. As always there is little room for a 6" person. Cabin crew were good but just went through the motions. The flight to Sydney was bumpy but smooth on the return leg. As usual you get what you pay for - a cheap ticket with no frills. My only real concern was the huge amount of carry on luggage allowed onboard and stowed in the overhead lockers. It was hard to find space for my walking stick and backpack and was inconvenient when I had to retrieve them without my walking aid.

Jetstar to Honolulu and back to Australia. We had pre booked seats which we were happy with, had pre paid our meals and purchased Comfort Paks onboard for $7AUS. The staff were nice. On the flight back plane was full, lots of children which meant lots of crying. I was annoyed to hear staff talking to each other in their own language whilst serving meals and to hear staff making fun of passengers in their own language. This is both inappropriate and very poor customer service. I acknowledge that working with the public isn't always easy but without the public you have no passengers and no jobs. Whether it's a budget airline or not there is no excuse for this.

Booked Singapore-Auckland-Christchurch and Auckland-Singapore. About 3 weeks before we were due to depart, our return flight was cancelled. We were given choice to change flight by a day either way or, or cancel the flight and get a refund On checking in, even though we had paid for extra leg room, no such seats were available. Our choice was to wait two days for the next flight or ask for a refund. The flight was several hours late leaving. So we missed the connection to Christchurch. There was no one from JetStar in Auckland to help passengers affected. Jetstar staff were unhelpful, lacked empathy and were in one case, rude.

Honolulu from Sydney return, and booked extra leg room seats at a cost of $54. On both flights I did not receive these seats nor any apology from staff. I was aware that I would have to purchase food but did not realise that they would run out! It was cold in the plane but I was not aware that I would have to purchase a blanket and pillow for a night flight. The staff were inattentive and rude on the flight to Honolulu but better on the return flight. Upon return I rang Jetstar to enquire why I had not received the seats I had paid for and was told there had been schedule changes! Courtesy would suggest that I should have been informed of this prior to my flight. I would also like to know on what basis my booked seats were given to someone else. I will never fly Jetstar again!

Flew return, Gold Coast to Tokyo. There were a few issues. The cabin baggage allowance is not strictly enforced - they don't weigh it or check it. So someone will get on with four carry-on bags, stow them all in the overhead lockers and then other people have to put their bags in other overheads. On the return flight, the girl in front of me fully reclined her seat, and proceeded to press her feet up against the seat in front of her, to get her seat even further back. My head was about two inches away from her seat. It was impossible for me to put my tray table down, and to get out of my seat I had to raise the armrest. Check-in was disorganised - it's supposed to open 3 hrs before international flights. My flight left at 8.25pm so check-in opened at 5.25pm - but another flight left at 9.05pm and they let them check-in at 5.25pm with their own line and check-in counters. Overall, not enough check-in counters and you really do get what you pay for. If I flew with them again, I'd buy Business Class.

We booked return flights between Sydney and Honolulu 5 months in advance so our family could secure the bulkhead row seats and have access to the bassinet for our child. A month after booking we got an email saying the "fare class" had automatically changed, but besides a name change all other aspects were the same and there was no action required by us. A month later we were notified that they had automatically pushed back the departure time by an hour. Unfortunately for us, this meant we had to re-schedule our connecting flight, at our cost. Finally, now that we are a few days away from the flight itself, I checked the reservation details through their website only to learn that we had been bumped from our original seats. After a long and painful customer service experience, I was advised that when the fare class changed 4 months ago, seat reservations went from being free to a paid service, and subsequently someone had "paid" for our original seats so they were no longer available. Naturally, this was not a satisfactory customer outcome for me.

Everything was fine apart from the incident we had with one crew member, who was very rude with me as I requested to move from one seat to any other seat available at the back - there were plenty available and everyone was moving without asking. I asked politely because I was surrounded by 2 families with 3 kids who were screaming and crying. The crew member rudely offered me ear plugs to purchase which they are selling onboard instead.

AKL-SIN, SIN-MEL, MEL-AKL. Purchased Business Class AKL-SIN return but the AKL-SIN flight was cancelled so diverted through MEL. The ME-AKL leg on an A320 was cattle class. Seat 1A, right by the door was freezing. The Business Class legs were fine. Good staff, good service, great seats. My expectations, which were not high, butt were exceeded. All flights were more or less on time. No problems with baggage.

Booked flights for my wife and 4 children. Paid extra for front row seats and selected these online when booking. At check-in at Darwin airport baggage was checked-in and tickets issued. Without explanation seating had been changed to row 3. The attended said all 3 rows at the front were rated the same. Very unprofessional.

Ineffective customer service. Our flights cancelled without informing us beforehand, transferred to a different airline. On arrival in Auckland, our baggage was and despite several days of chasing up, they could not trace our bags. Mine is not a special case as many passengers from that day also lost their bags.

Booked round trip tickets from Singapore to Auckland. Our return flight was cancelled without any warning and arrived at Auckland airport with no staff available to help. I was only offered a transfer to a flight the next day. Their price is cheap, but you risk paying additional for any scheduled change. Not reliable with unprofessional staff.

We were travelling with Qantas frequent flyer points to Honolulu from Sydney. There was no entertainment unless pre-booked and paid for (and only a small variety of movies available) which we had done, but they only gave us 3 units instead of the 4 we paid for. Food must be pre-ordered and paid for which is not mentioned when booking online. Airconditioning was on for the whole flight and it was $12 to buy a blanket. Overall found staff to be rude.

Sydney to Honolulu business class, flight out was an evening flight with good service seats are a little cramped for business class, a little bit of extra room would be good especially when seat in front reclines they are right in your lap. Inflight entertainment was the personal audio player that was very heavy with limited programs and movies. Somebody in the seat behind us was sick all over the floor near us and the flight attendant did a wonderful job cleaning up the mess. The flight back was a day time flight with the new style seats with personal in seat screens and a more slim line business seat that were a bit harder than the old Qantas style seat. Service was very poor for a day flight - no drinks offered only some snacks after breakfast then lunch with a baileys. Inflight entertainment was the same as on the way over.

We traveled to and from various locations in Australia. We had 5 different flights on Jetstar, and 4 of them were late. The worst one was 4 hrs late, which caused us to miss an important engagement. They would never tell us what was happening. We showed up at the Melbourne airport at 7am for our 9 am flight to Sydney. When we checked in, they told us it was now a 10:30 departure, no reason given for the delay. At 10:30 they announced there as another problem, they would update us in 15 mins. 30 mins later they said they would update us, 30 mins later they announced that the captain promised an update in 5 mins. 20 mins later they announced we would be boarding in 1 hr and 15 mins. By the time we left, we were more than 4 hrs past our departure time. They never did tell us why we were delayed. Fair warning, you get what you pay for. Cheap airfare equals lousy service.

Jetstar flight from Wellington to Auckland was below standard. Departure and return flights left late due to the lack of staff and a very slow boarding process. I frequently fly between Wellington and Auckland for business, they are regularly late or cancel flights.

SIN-MEL-SIN on A330. Paid about S$400 for a return trip with no meals/check in baggage, which is a steal. Both flights were reasonably comfortable, even though they were pretty full. Seats are wider than on Emirates but have more limited legroom, and I believe recline is similar. Managed to sleep on the overnight trip. Brought my own food which was a good decision. No online checkin counter in Singapore which was strange. The return flight from Melbourne was delayed 1hr because they couldn't finish maintenance on time. I'd fly with them again for a similar price.

Our first flight with Jetstar was pretty good - in Star Class from Auckland to Singapore. Unfortunately they were to fly us to Bali which only has Economy class. We arrived at the airport 2 hrs before departure, only to find the flight had been re-timed for 5 hrs later, due to the closure of the runway at Bali. We realised we would miss our connection to Darwin, but no-one at Jetstar was concerned. So from our re-booked hotel in Singapore, we phoned Jetstar to change our flights because of the re-schedulings and found all seats were unavailable for a week. In fact, the staff member simply put the phone down on me when I told him I was less than satisfied with their service. Anyone considering this airline should only do so if they are absolutely certain they are not going to change any part of their trip. Plan for late/cancelled departures, penalty fees which almost amount to the cost of the original ticket and staff who are not authorised to make decisions and leave you to phone operations in order to try to get some resolution.

Melbourne-Gold Coast. Used by QFF points, booked a QF flight number. Get a Jetstar service (as QF don't fly MEL-OOL). So had to pay for food, drinks. Got an A320 on way up, was old and seats on the verge of breaking. On return was A321 - much newer look and feel. Staff were friendly, but overall nothing fantastic about what Jetstar offer. Very annoyed about my QFF points used to get much less than I expected (as I would have with QF).

MEL-BKK. Traveled Business Class. More Premium Economy than Business Class. Departure delayed 2hrs before we boarded. Once boarded we waited another 50 mins until Captain announced flight was cancelled due to damage to cargo hold door by ground staff. Flight rescheduled for next morning but we were not allowed off the aircraft for another 40 mins because all the customs staff had gone home. Flight the next morning was only delayed 30 mins before takeoff. Flight was ok but IFE console was broken so no music or audio for programmes showing on monitors. Thank goodness for the laptop movie system which was good. Food was ok. Seats a little cramped when the person in front reclines.

Sydney-Cairns. Jetstar cancelled the flight due to high winds at Sydney and only 1 runway was in use. They announced the cancellation at 15:30 and told us to go back to the check-in for rebooking. Luckily, I was able to be rebooked for a flight the following day. Of course, I was stuck in Sydney and had to pay for a hotel room on my own. The next day, my flight left on schedule but the seats were the most uncomfortable seats I've ever sat in. The seat cushions seem to be smaller than normal seats. Pretty pathetic. I then read on the Internet the next day that Jetstar had taken 4 airplanes out of service due to overlooked and overdue maintenance on Thursday afternoon. Fights were cancelled. I wondered if this was the real reason why my flight to Cairns was cancelled but Jetstar blamed it on the high winds so they wouldn't have to pay for hotel rooms. As others have said, you get what you pay for in terms of low fares.

Singapore-Melbourne on an A330. We had booked a meal with the flight through the Internet but when the flight attendants served food and skipped us, we had asked why. They told us we did not order any food and were forced to pay extra for food although we didn't have any money. We were forced to starve through the whole flight and had to eat some potato chips we brought along. The seats were also very cramped and travelling with some sports players made the cabin smell terrible.

SYD-MEL. Paid same price with Qantas ticket, just wanted this particular time slot in the morning so I could attend a meeting in Melbourne on time. Jetstar is using QF lounge at SYD terminal 2, but QF staff at lounge seems know nothing about Jetstar even their main business is Jetstar flights at terminal 2. Boarding was on time, but we sat there for 40 mins with some technical issues. Cabin crews are professional and friendly, pilot updated passengers in details that one of the engines did not start. Finally we took off, more bad news during the flight, we have to slow down due to the wind, then we have to wait for landing because it is rush hour at MEL. We finally landed and somehow one of the engines can not stop this time. 1 hr 15 minutes flight took 2hr 30 mins. Seat was not comfortable at all. I don't think I will fly with Jetstar soon, at least not for business trips.

Flew Jetstar Mel-Cairns and then Cairns-Mel. Really more then anything wanted to say this airline was great and how wrong everyone was! Unfortunately, this is not the case. I have flown more then a dozen different airlines and this is one is by far the worst. Service is indifferent, no real welcome at all. Food was terrible for what it cost. Entertainment which can buy for 10.00 dollars okay, but needs to sit on the service tray, sitting like a picture frame. This can be quite tiresome on your neck. Flight back even worse, 4 hrs in the air, very little food left to choose from, no movies to purchase at all. Seats unbearably uncomfortable on both 321 up to Cairns and the 320 coming back. To make matters worse there was an emergency on the way home, young woman behind me had sudden severe chest pain, whilst the attendants so very obviously did not know to do. They asked if she wanted an ambulance. Luckily this medical emergency happened fairly close to landing and they ended up calling an ambulance which meet us when we landed.

MEL-SIN-MEL on A330-200 in Star Class. Check-in at MEL was quick and pre-assigned seats honoured. Express cards through immigration and security given. Lounge access was at the Qantas business lounge which was disappointing with limited selection of food. Priority boarding honoured. Seats were old and tattered. Seated in row 2 from MEL-SIN. the flight left late but arrived on time. Legroom was tight for a "business class" product. It was very difficult to get in and out of the seat, especially if the seat in front was reclined. On-board catering was quite reasonable and there was a reasonably good selection of beverages. FAs were generally friendly with the exception of one, who was a bit surly. Entertainment is still the portable AVOD unit, which is really heavy and bulky, and the selection of material is very limited. SIN- MEL was another story. The flight was delayed by 4.5 hours due to the Chilean ash cloud over MEL. There were no notifications via email or SMS and you only found out when you arrived at the airport. Departure time was revised to be only delayed 2 hours but it was rescheduled to the original delayed departure time when passengers arrived at the gate 40 minutes before the flight was supposed to leave. There were no announcements and we'd even checked with the agents in the Qantas lounge before heading off for the gate! The flight back to MEL was pleasant and FAs were friendlier. Seated in row 1, so there was a lot more legroom, which made it much more comfortable. No express arrival cards were provided, even though I asked the crew. They claimed that none were available even though I'd seen them in the crew storage area. Either they did not want to give them out or the Singapore-based crew really didn't know of their existence! Overall, it is a reasonable product but business class it is not. it is more like premium economy. I wouldn't go out of my way to fly them again unless I had no other choice or if they had a heavily discounted fare.

I bought a ticket to fly on Jetstar's new A330-200 long-haul route from AKL-SIN one way. My main motivation was the low price, a special, which ended up costing under $350NZD including the $30-odd dollars for meals. At the airport, there was a long line at check-in, as there were only 4 or 5 agents at the counters. Not particularly efficient, but not the worst I've had. Boarding was fine, and I was soon seated in my window seat, with an empty seat beside me. Configuration for this aircraft is 2x4x2. Aircraft condition was average, but seat pitch was not as bad as I was anticipating, it felt like 31". A meal served not long after take off, edible but small. It was 8 hrs before I was served a 2nd meal/snack prior to landing. I asked the flight attendant for some water, only to be directed to a tiny water dispenser beside the toilet. Hard to comment on service, because there wasn't any. I believe the FA's are Singapore based, and are paid significantly less than Australian based crew, which probably explains why I only saw them 3-4 times during the whole 10.5 hr flight. Low cost long-haul with Jetstar is a struggle. It's not a comfortable trip particularly on this 10-11 hr sector. The saying rings true, you get what you pay for, but by no means in style or in comfort. I will pay the extra to fly on Singapore or Malaysian next time.

Singapore-Auckland economy class. We booked seats 46D and 47D after moving from two seats together in the first cabin in about row 23. The logic was that as the aircraft was not full, we could possibly get an empty seat beside ours, and have the advantage of extra room. Thus turned out to be the case and we had a row each. Cabin crew were young and friendly and efficient. I had pre-ordered meals for us and the in-flight video entertainment pack. The meals were OK but the video was a waste of money - poor selection of movies and TV stuff but little else. Not worth the money in my view for a cumbersome piece of equipment. We also had to produce some ID other than a passport which is held as security by the crew until the thing is collected. Its all a bit messy. The dinner meal was tasty, one free cold drink, and a kit-kat. Nothing flash but good enough. I bought a small bottle of wine which was one glass for A$7. I slept quite well across the 4 seats of my empty row, and woken 3 hours out of Auckland for breakfast, which was again okay. The 31" pitch was enough for me when sitting upright in the seats. They were leather with wing head rests which gives extra comfort. Overall it was about as good as it could be for the price which was NZ$400 one way per person.

DRW-SIN. Short queue for check-in. Check-in staff efficient but not particularly friendly. Efficient boarding. Cabin crew were pleasant and present throughout the flight. As I was connecting on to a Qantas flight in Singapore and had booked the ticket as a package, my meal and drink were provided without payment. Other paid for drinks and duty free offered. I really enjoyed the onboard radio channels. The meal was nicer than the subsequent meals served on connecting Qantas flight. Bag arrived safely at Heathrow. Overall, much better than I expected.

Brisbane to Avalon, flight 2.5 hours late. Message on mobile that flight would only be 30 minutes late. Accept that planes can be late so eventually got to Avalon. Booked back from Avalon at 2130. Message on phone about 1640 hours that flight cancelled. Apology in message but no offer to relocate to another flight but call to speak about refund. Had to get back to Brisbane that night and fortunate enough to get a Qantas flight for wife and I but cost $780.00. Called 5 times to get through to right number - asked for refund, told 15 days for refund. I asked to make a formal complaint but told someone would ring me needless to say no one has. Third time I have had a flight cancelled by Jet star.
