LHR-BCN-LHR Economy class. It seems I have been lucky compared to a lot of the other, comments, though there is nothing to distinguish a national carrier like Iberia anymore with the low budget airlines. Iberia and the rest are but shadows of their former self and now the one and a half hour flight is just dull, no newspapers, no drinks and no food unless you are prepared to pay a lot of money for them.

ORD-MAD-BOS. Check-in speedy, flight from Chicago on a newer A340-600, flight attendants were nice on both flights. Food was alright. No personal IFE, and they only showed one movie during the whole 8-hour flight. Return on older A340-300 and you can really tell that the plane has definitely seen better days.

Madrid-Lima. Economy ticket; free upgrade to business class at check-in. Big spacious seats on an A340-600. Good food, more drinks service than I could handle; self-service bar at the back of J cabin open all flight. Staff did their job, friendly, and their English is good enough. Flight on time; bag showed up on time.

Madrid to Las Palmas on A340-300 which is usually used for longhaul. Was lucky enough to be upgraded to business class (paid 150 euros return for economy ticket as Iberia wanted 800 euros return for business). Service somewhat slow and formal. Seat was fantastic for a flight just over 2 hours- not worth 800 euros though.

Horrible service, rude staff, uncomfortable seat, poor entertainment on board. Unless you need to, do not fly Iberia - the worst airline I've used.

ORD-MAD-FCO return. Unfortunately I was stuck with Iberia on my summer trip to Italy, as American Airlines would not let me use my miles to get a free seat in business class on the nonstop from ORD to FCO. I settled with Iberia on business class via Madrid, as British Airways would not let me use my American miles either. The flight to Rome was decent, films were good, seats ok, and the wine was pretty good. Flight attendants did not pay much attention, but then again neither did those of American on most of my long-haul flights with them. Food was horrible though, honestly you are better off bringing food on board. Let's just say I was very happy when we touched down in Madrid. For the second leg of my journey I was on the Iberia domestic business class, which is really economy class seating with the middle seat empty, waste of money in my opinion. Again the flight attendants only came around once to serve breakfast. The only good thing was that my bags arrived alright in Rome, so Iberia did something right. On my journey back to Chicago, the experience was more or less the same. The only difference was that Iberia left my luggage in Madrid. I had a feeling it would happen since the connection in Madrid was very tight, but what really made me mad was that the customer service agents had a list of people whose bags did not make it on before I even got off the plane, and they did not even tell me. So I ended up waiting an hour and a half at the baggage claim waiting for bags that never came. When I went to go file a claim I could not find anyone at the Iberia desk, the customer service agent was just talking with another colleague with the clipboard of names still in hand. All in all I recommend not to fly Iberia, or if you do, just fly economy. The only thing I enjoyed about Iberia was that I did not pay a cent for my ticket, that's it.

In 40 years of travel the worst airline I have ever encountered. Trip was London to Seville via Madrid and back. All four flights were each delayed over an hour. Boarding procedure was chaotic and endless. They lost my luggage going out, and then lost it again returning. Baggage tracing system is hopless and infuriating. Both trips despite amble time between flights (all of which were delayed) the luggage failed to make the connection. When we arrived in Madrid to transfer to the London flight, the passengers were left stranded on the plane in boiling heat for 30 minutes because there were no buses to take them to the terminal. Many therefore missed connecting flights, thru sheer incompetence of Iberia. Staff did not give a damn; rude, and offhand. Never, under any circumstances would I use this incompetent airline again.

Dulles to Madrid to Berlin; seemed to be much more room on flight from Madrid to Berlin. Couldn't understand the instructions in English they gave over the PA due to the accent. I wasn't even aware they were speaking English half the time (and I wasn't the only one) Probably wouldn't fly them again, though I had a great deal. Food was good, I had a low fat meal. Flight attendants were surly, not very friendly. I'm very easy to please and don't bother them much so when I ask for something, I kind of expect some cheerfulness not a roll of the eyes or being ignored.

Very bad souvenir of my flight back from Mexico to Madrid. First, my flight was cancelled and I had to take next Iberia flight - from 1pm to 9pm without explanations. After that, I can only have a poor ticket of 10 euros in 2 restaurants of the airport to eat - for midday, but not for the evening! And the comfort of my plane was better between Paris-Madrid than Madrid- Mexico - can you explain why? I talk with passengers that were surprise like me not to have enough place for legs in this 12 hours flight! I prefer not to fly again with Iberia.

JFK to MAD in business. Definitely not worth paying for business class. The lounge at JFK is nice - it's a BA Terraces lounge. Lots of choices of wine available and decent snacks available, but once onboard it is downhill from there. The on board service is a mess. The flight attendants looked sloppy, barely paid attention to the passengers, and in my opinion were pretty unprofessional. As other reviewers have indicated in prior reviews, they perform the minimal service required and disappear. Aside from the meal service (which was just a little better than a standard coach meal), I think I saw them 3 times. They were unresponsive to drink requests and the FA call button. Pretty unacceptable for business class. Also, their website indicates that there is a self service bar on board in business class. Since I gave up on trying to get served by the FAs, I got up to look for the self service bar for a drink and a snack. They never set it up. When asked, I was told "We don't have one" - this was their A340 service between NYC and MAD. If they don't set it up on this flight, where/when do they set it up? I chose IB to earn AA miles. A mistake I won't make again. While IB's business cabin is up to date and modern, I have to say that the business class seats on IB's A340 are not very comfortable. The fares between IB and CO were similar. I won't chose IB again. The impression they gave was one of a sloppy disorganized airline with staff that are either very untrained in customer service or just don't care. Not looking forward to my return flight - and will be sure to have dinner before I board the plane.

DUS-MAD-LPA return in Business Class. On all flights, except the one from MAD to LPA it was standard economy class seats, from which the middle seat is left free. Also on all flights I saw the crew exactly 3 times per flights. On the way back a passenger pushed the assistance button, the call was never answered. Staff chit-chatting all the time. About the lounges: I should say only the one in DUS (BA Lounge) was pretty good. For the rest, the Iberia lounges are crap! A breakfast is a choice of a dry croissant or a raisin bread. On the way back from LPA the lounge was closed, because at a late flight time (02:50am) they cannot keep the lounge open for just 1-2 passengers (there were 8 pax in Business class), no complimentary drink or snack, nothing! All in all I am really not satisfied with Iberia. I am a OneWorld Emerald Member, but got no recognition at all.

MAD-XRY €29.00 return promo offer. A319 legroom at least 32" with recaro seats. Flight crew friendly and free Iberia Universal newspaper handed out on departure. The Tu Menu is a rip off €9.00 for a small sandwich and a drink, but not fussed as flight only 50 mins. Flight on time. Tip if travelling is to check in online 24 hours before hand, you can collect your boarding pass at the airport from the auto-check in machines.
