Barcelona to Heathrow economy. Nice clean plane and pleasant staff. But I wondered what they all
did. The only time I saw a trolley going down the aisle was to sell perfume and souvenirs. No food,
no drinks not even water. Not great for a national carrier.

Madrid from Chicago O Hare. At the last minute, we were upgraded to business class which was a
pleasant surprise. The attendants were professional and friendly, service excellent and the
reclining seats were comfortable for sleeping. Returning, we were in coach. Totally different
experience. The seats were uncomfortable. I am 5/10 inches tall and my husband is 6/5. Our knees
were crammed up against the seats in front of us. The attendant was very sympathetic to our problem
and she moved us up from row 28 in the back of the plane to row 15. There were 3 seats together in a
4 across row and we could stretch out a little bit more, but the thoughtless gentleman in front of
me threw his seat back upon take off and stayed that way for over 8 hours while I was like a
sardine. The service was good and the attendants were very friendly and helpful.

NCE-MAD-NCE on Iberia Air Nostrum. Service was excellent on their new business class. The new Madrid
Barajas Airport terminal is huge and very efficient. Beautiful design. Transfers from Regional to
International are made easy but time should be considered when connecting due to its size. Iberia
Business class lounge is very comfortable however lacks the choice of snacks, reading materials and
internet access. Iberia Business Plus MAD-GRU-MAD on old Airbus 340, service OK, flat bed OK, food
and wine excellent, entertainment quality good. Flights were on time. Good value for money

MAD-SCQ. Flew Iberia for this short domestic hop from Madrid Barajas T4 (a wonderful facility) to
Santiago de Compostela. I couldn’t print my boarding pass online because they needed to verify my
credit card – slightly frustrating, although I was able to obtain my pass in seconds from one of the
many machines landside in MAD. The load was very light on this late evening flight on a very new
plane; it was no more than 50% which meant that we were all seated and ready to go in no time. Once
airborne, I was able to move to a completely empty row and stretch out. I didn’t purchase anything
on board, but the crew seemed smiling and helpful. We arrived on time, and were on stand and off the
plane quickly. The flight was a bit pricey at €70, but overall I was happy with my first experience on Iberia.

Madrid-Heathrow Business Class. Got upgraded last minute, probably due to an overbooking of the
flight. Never flown the new Business European product of Iberia, and was quite impressed. Service
was very good: coat hanged, offered a variety of newspapers both spanish and international. Meal
menus handed out with a choice of fish or veal as main course, and served with entree salad, cheese
plate and small dessert. Complimentary tea/coffee/alcoholic beverage service after the meal. Cabin
was full yet service seemed to be paced perfectly. Baggage reclaim was a whizz. Overall, a good, 5 star trip!

DUB-MAD-LPA return. All flights left on time and arrived early. Ground crew efficient. Cabin crew I
found pleasant enough and were actually smiling on most of the legs. Requests were met when the call
bell was pressed. All staff spoke English although some of the announcements were inaudible possibly
due to the strong spanish accents! Seat space was 32", I am 6ft1 and found it good on all sectors.
Had checked in online on the outward routing, but could not on the return . Bags were checked
through which was great and arrived on the baggage belts within minutes. Overall I would say for the
price paid, money well spent and will use them again.

No communication at all, several lies, lamentable service on board and on ground. My worst

JFK-MAD-AGP-MAD-JFK.All flights on time. Planes full on all four segments. Good food, IFE worked
fine and crews were pleasant, attentive and friendly. It was like a throwback to the 70's when I
travelled frequently on business (now retired) when flying was a pleasure. No complaints of any kind
and what a contrast to crossing the Atlantic with American Airlines surly cabin crews and shabby
planes. The new terminal (4S) at Barajas is superb but its quite a marathon hike between terminals!

Berlin to Madrid and then a connecting flight to Lima. Our flight from Berlin to Madrid got
"diverted" due to late arrival of the plane and therefore we would have missed our connecting
flight. They booked us on Delta Airlines and Lan Peru via New York and we arrived a day later.
The return flight from Santiago to Madrid (with Iberia this time) was a disaster. The entertainment
system was poor and audio did not work in half of the seats. They gave us lunch after take off, but
then for the next 9 to 10 hours nothing happened! If you wanted a drink you had to go and get it
yourself from the back of the plane and there was only a tiny and horrible sandwich, which you had
to get yourself again! The plane was very old and not comfortable. Crew wasn't very good. On the
connecting flight from Madrid to Berlin you had to pay if you wanted a snack!

BRU-MAD return, Economy. Iberia has new aircraft A321 and friendly crew on this route, but seating

MAD-Santiago de Chile return Y class. Stuck in the seventies! Plane seemed to be quite old and cabin
in need of refurb. No personal TVs or games console in economy. Food poor and if you asked for a
drink you were told to get it yourself. The crew were mostly unfriendly. Seat going out was OK as we
got an emergency exit. Coming back was very crowded and got no sleep at all. My headphone socket was
broken. Would avoid in future.

JFK to MAD and MAD-ORD. Staff on the plane were OK, neither friendly or unfriendly. Legroom was
decent for economy. No TVs in seats or any frills. Food was decent, and coffee surprisingly good.
Had lots of trouble at the airport in either direction due to a mix up with my codeshare AA flight.
My wife and I were found two separate seats at the last minute in JFK and on the way back, they
didn't like our boarding passes at the gate and had to call around for a confirmation number before
we were allowed to board. Still trying to get a hold of AA to find out exactly what happened. Make
certain you double and triple check with Iberia when taking a codeshare flight with them.

LHR-MAD-ACE - With the demise of GB Airways to Easy Jet, and living close to LHR we tested the
Iberia service to Arrecife (Lanzarote), economy section. For a scheduled airline the economy
seating is uncomfortable with slim seats which were designed with short squabs to sit upon and hard
back seats in front for your knees to be jammed against! The leg room is appalling for a scheduled
airline. Both sectors to ACE showed little interest by the female crew. We tested the trolley
service - poor and very expensive! The return legs back to LHR I checked in ahead online and
selected emergency rows - better! Still lousy uninviting food (club sandwich not bad). Remind
myself 'Don't ever complain about BA again'!

Have just returned after flying Iberia from Munich to San José Costa Rica via Madrid return. Service
on board was generally very rushed and sometimes rude, food was poor. Most importantly the air
quality on each of the four flights was very poor and left us feeling terrible. The cabin
announcements were in Spanish and English, but the English was gabbled out in such an offhand way
(missing many key words) that any non-native speakers would find it impossible to understand.
Certainly one of the worst flight experiences I have experienced and I will certainly avoid this
airline in future.

LHR-MAD-XRY BA/IB codeshare with IB operating the MAD-XRY leg. MD80 outbound, A320 inbound.
Good experience both ways on a short sector. BA had messed up big time on the first leg outbound so
we only just made the connection, but gate staff reassigned seating from the random passes issued in
London and we were able to sit together. Both flights close to or ahead of schedule. Inflight
service basic paid for offer, but FA's come to you via call button and take your order. Needless to
say luggage didn't make the connection, but IB ground staff at XRY very helpful, and it eventually
go to our hotel about 24hrs late having decided to tour Barajas airport for a day. Given all the
problems other people are having just now, I'll keep quiet!

EZE-MAD-BRU Business Class. Friendly staff on ground an inflight. Clean aircraft. Seat in Business
Plus on A340-600 is comfortable for reading and movies, but forget about sleeping on your back if
you are over 1,85 tall - seat pitch is too short for that. A real let down on a 12 hour overnight
flight! Showers and service at lounge in Madrid very good - food mediocre. Seats on A321 to BRU are
firm Recaro leather seats, no proper headrest - thankfully cabin crew volunteers pillows. Only
Spanish language press in EZE lounge, better selection in MAD.

LHR-MAD-JNB-PLZ return. Polite staff at check in on first outward leg. Food was adequate but I
guess you'll eat anything if you're hungry. Cabin staff greet you whilst looking at the floor at
boarding as if they were ashamed to be associated with the airline! Was asked to swap seats when I
had got settled but it was for a young lad who was sat away from his dad so that wasn't a problem.
Staff also seemed to disappear after dinner was served-glad I bought drinks at the airport. Coming
back the girl seemed a little distracted whilst chatting to a colleague as I was checking in at
Johannesburg-this was apparent when I arrived at London to be told my case is still there! The
excuse was that my BA flight had been cancelled and because I was moved to Iberia there had been
confusion-interesting then that I hadn't booked with BA! All the guy could do was shrug his
shoulders. So I arrived back in UK on the Wednesday and my case was delivered on the Saturday! I
rang Iberia a total of 16 times to be told different excuses on each occasion. I emailed them and
got a response 2 months later! At Madrid we arrived 20 minutes later than advertised and then it
was a mad dash from T4S to T4 to get the London flight. Would I use them again - absolutely not!!

LON-MAD-Quito return. Delayed getting off the plane in Madrid as they couldn't find stairs for 30
minutes, then security weren't ready but that was just the start. We couldn't land in Quito because
of the weather so had to land in Guayaquil, and wait 5 hours before being flown back to Quito by a
local operator. Baggage didn't arrive with us, and no information given other than "come back
tomorrow". Iberia wouldn't deliver the late baggage to our hotel, so we went back the next day and
after an hours hunting located an Iberia person and our baggage. On the return a passenger across
from us had a cat with her - apparently Iberia allows some pets on the plane. Whilst the cat was in
a cage, the cage wasn't littered and there was a mess and major discomfort to all around. Some
passengers complained to the crew, demanding they do something. However, their response was merely
along the lines of our policy allows pets on the plane, and what do you expect us to do, we are in
mid-air and as the plane is full you have to remain seated where you are. They then sprayed some
air freshener around!

AMS-MAD-TFN Economy. As we boarded the plane we noticed passive and unfriendly attitude from FA

to take a pain killer and they only gave it to me upon payment. MAD-TFN there was an elderly couple
having trouble to place their hand luggage in the overhead compartment and a FA was rude about them
in Spanish. I ended up helping the couple arm while both FA remained standing there. Poor quality
food and drinks were for sale onboard at outrageous prices on a 2:45 hour leg.

Business from BOS-MAD-VCE and return FCO-MAD-BOS. Made reservation several months ahead of trip
through Orbitz. IB had major schedule change from BOS to MAD which I was never informed about. It
is clear from my follow up that Orbitz was never notified of change by Iberia. The change resulted
in an earlier departure from BOS and a seven hour layover in MAD due to longer flight caused by IAD
intermediate stop from BOS to MAD. Had I not discovered this on my own several days before the trip
we would have missed our flight as we were connecting in BOS from a commuter carrier. Rerouting
that flight required a five hour layover in BOS. All in all, the schedule change added 10 hours to
our trip. Seats assignments were also an issue. Could not seem to get confirmation of our requested
seats until two days before trip and then when checking in for flight they were not honoroed and the
two of us were assigned seats not next to each other. No problem with assigned seats on return.
That being said, once on the flights the trip went very well. IB Business Cabin is beautifully done
and seats were great. Not totally flat but very comfortable and spacious. AVOD did not work in
some of the seats on the outbound but as it was not full it was easy to change seats. The inflight
meal service was good. The menu was great but the food didn't quite live up to the menu
description. One area of excellence was the wine. Crews on all flights were excellent. The
European flights were fine, nothing special. Another area of excellence is the MAD facility. The
airport is new and very easy to navigate. IB Business lounges are beautifully furnished, have
expansive views overlooking the airport and a good selection of beverages, particularly their wines.
The airside terminal lounge where the intercontinental flights depart had better food than the
terminal for European flights. The lounge in FCO which IB uses was also excellent. IB uses the NW
lounge in BOS which is comfortable and well stocked but a bit dark and boring with no outside light
or windows. In summary kudos on Business Cabin, crew, wines, AVOD, airport lounges. Improvement
needed in pre trip services such as scheduling and seats. We both decided we would use them again.
In flight rating a 4 star, pre-trip rating a 2 star, overall 3 star.

Terminal 4 metro station is fantastic and a bargain at about 2 euros to central Madrid. The flight
back departed in timely fashion. A friendly crew offered newspapers and headsets. This flight
experience was comparable to my transatlantic American Airline flights. No luggage problems although
the wait for bags in Madrid is really long compared to most cities.

Chicago O'Hare to Madrid - 8 hour flight there and 9 hour flight returning. We flew with a 3 1/2
year old, flight attendants let us board early, and have drawing paper that they hand out for
little kids. We were in the economy (tourist) class section of the plane, which seems up to par - I
was just as cramped as I would have been on most other flights. It was tolerable none the less.
The food was decent, children's meals as well for our child, which looked better than our food.
Both flights roughly on time. They also let us use a child's car seat on the plane. Plane was
clean, and flight attendants seemed helpful and polite.

TXL-MAD-JNB Economy Return. Friendly ground staff in TXL changed my seat MAD-JNB from middle of 4
seat row to a window. MAD is a huge airport - so allow at least 90 minutes transit time to get from
T4 to T4S, find gate etc. Plane (an old A340-200) was only 50 % full, so FAs encouraged pax to
spread themselves out. Baggage arrived in JNB. Return leg departed on time. FAs quite civil &
chatting with pax. IFE not available during flight. Cabin lights dimmed straight after dinner. Again
flight was only 50% full, so most people spread out to get some sleep. Got 2 cups of coffee, without
having to ask. On time arrival in Madrid. Transit from T4S to T4 was a bit tight - only 60 mins, but
the plane to TXL was delayed by 20 mins, so actually had time to spare. Baggage arrived in TXL. Only
flew Iberia because they offer lowest fare to JNB of any EU airline. But you get what you pay for
(e. not much). Flying with Iberia reminded me of flight experiences in the seventies & eighties,
before the word "service" was invented.

LHR-MAD-EZE-MAD-LGW. LHR-MAD left on time with friendly FAs. MAD-EZE I was asked by a stressed out

swap. Hence when meal time came I requested my vegetarian meal - got an interrogation about whether
I had ordered one and then a dressing down about swapping seats and not informing the FAs! Got my
food but no drink until after the meal despite asking several times and being made to feel I was a
pain. As a night flight we were told that passengers requiring drinks would have to go to the bar -
woe betide anyone who disturbed the FAs who were reading magazines and gossiping in the bar - an icy
glare was dished out along with the iced water. IFE not much really - 3 films for such a long
flight with some infomercials. I liked the 2-3-2 seating plan and they were comfortable to sleep

Pillow, blanket and socks issued but no eye mask so sleep was virtually impossible. The seat control
panels were smashed and arm-rest trays broken. Both out and back flights were delayed for an hour
or so - we missed our connection at JNB and had to purchase a replacement flight to DUR. The return
MAD-LHR flight was held for us (and others) but we had to run from Term 4S to Term 4 to make sure of
catching it. The cabin staff were rude and unhelpful - a request for some water during the night

SCL-MAD-TFN-MAD-SCL Santiago to Madrid and return sections in Business, via complementary

was not possible to select seats until one day before the flights and my originally assigned seats
were at the very rear of the plane. All flights close to leaving on time. Business class cabins
clean and modern (A340), food excellent. much better than AA business class, bi-lingual staff
friendly and attentive. The economy class flights to and from Tenerife were OK, legroom
satisfactory (I am 1.9m), no food or drinks unless you pay. Nothing went wrong on this trip so I
didn't have much interaction with ground staff. For business class travelers on flights leaving
Madrid late at night the Iberia Lounge restaurant serves a meal approximately equivalent to that

takeoff/landing, no individual tv screens, only 2 film choices - first film wasn't even put on for 2
hours by which time everyone wanted to sleep. Food awful on all sectors, no amenity kit, toilets
unstocked and unclean. After main meal the seatbelt signs were turned on for three hours with not a
hint of turbulence! Call bells were going off all over the place with passengers thirsty and
desperate for the toilet and no sign of the crew for all of this time - passengers in the end just
got up and did their own thing. No juice/water during flights and crew were not impressed with
being disturbed from papers/crosswords when asked in galley. All in all a total nightmare - if you
can afford to pay a little more then do - Iberia is a low cost airline which doesn't always work for
12 hour flights. Ground staff for this airline unhelpful both in Madrid and at outstations. I

Madrid-London Heathrow-Madrid. I've done this route more than 8 times. Out of the 8 planes I've
boarded only 1 had the old navy blue livery, the rest had the new grey leather covering which is
nicer. Leg room is alright, although it can get a bit cramped and uncomfortable. You need to pay for
meals but in a 2 hour flight eating is not essential. It's not worth flying BA just to get the cold
and average sandwich offered by them. Regarding FA's, I've found them to be nice (but not over the
top). They greet you with a smile, ask politely when food and free Spanish and internatioanal
newspapers (a nice touch, on all flights bound before 11 am, and on some of them after that-depends)
are delivered and answer any questions you need. Regarding their English skills, most of them do
speak well although their accent can be quite difficult on some occasions - normally they will
address you in Spanish (since it's a Spanish carrier), but it only takes a polite sentence to ask
them to use English instead. Delays in this route are quite normal, mainly due to Heathrow's
saturation, (although Barajas can sometimes be really exasperating) during rush hour. So do take
that in mind if you plan to connect in Madrid. Finally, ground staff both at Barajas and Heathrow
are fine, although I do not like the new automatic check-in machines (goes both for IB and BA), as
if you are not used to handling them it can become a bit of a nightmare. I overall rate IB European
product with 4 stars. Good, but with obvious room for improvement!

LHR-MAD-BOG business class. LHR-MAD flight very uncomfortable, with thin and barely padded seats. No
welcome drink but a reasonable salad was served once in the air. Long haul service far better: the
seat does not go completely flat, but nearly so and it was as comfortable as any airline seat I had
used including 'real' flat beds; food and wine excellent particularly if you like all things
Spanish; reasonable AVOD system although only 12 films. One other major gripe on arrival in MAD - I
wanted a shower, but they had run out of hot water and two hours later there still wasn't any.
Overall I'd give Iberia 5 stars for the long haul business service but low marks for everything else
- overall 3 stars.

Although we prebooked a vegetarian meal well in advance, my girlfriend was told by flight attendant
in quite rude manner there is nothing like that prepared for her. Once again on the return, no

LHR-MAD-Guatemala City-SAL-MIA-MAD-LHR. I have given them 2 stars, which is generous, only because
my Iberia Gold Card got me 3 upgrades to Business Plus out of the 4 Iberia operated flights in my
journey. Still, the one that wasn't upgraded was the long haul to Madrid from Miami and I would have
happily swapped that for Madrid to Heathrow, which was in Business Plus. Throughout both journeys
service was average and on ground organisation was rubbish. My flight LHR-MAD was delayed. When we
arrived, with no explanation why, passengers ending their journey at Madrid were asked to leave at
the front, while anyone going to the Americas had to leave by the back door onto a bus.
Understandable, but avoidable, chaos ensued. The bus to terminal 4S took nearly 20 minutes (longer
than it would have taken to walk through terminal 4 and take the train between terminals) and then
we entered a stationery queue for security and 100% of the passengers were worried about missing
their connecting flights. I did get through to the gate in time, only to see that Iberia was making
no attempt to organise the queue for boarding. Perhaps it was because they had overbooked the
flight, again. Plane eventually left 1hr 30 minutes late, causing myself and fiancee to miss
connection to San Salvador. In my fiancee's case, this was deja vu as it happened last Christmas. So
we stayed the night in Guatemala city and had to get up very early for the very short flight to end
the journey. The flight in Business Plus was pleasant enough and I did sleep 4 hours, but I had to
hold headphone connector into socket to get audio. MIA-MAD was delayed by 5 hours. Flight in economy
was uncomfortable, the food was awful and they missed me and the kid sat next to me when taking away
trays. Again same problem with audio, so gave up trying to watch film. Fortunately I was so tired I
managed 4 hours sleep, so that I didn't have to worry about the lack of entertainment on board.
Breakfast cold and stale. Back in Madrid for some reason there is no calling over the tannoy for
boarding of planes. Not even in the Iberia lounge! isn't Madrid the base of Iberia, therefore the
flagship lounge should be there? Anyway, nearly missed connection to London for this reason and had
to run to get to gate. The boards showed boarding for only a few minutes before changing to Last
Call. Baggage arrived, which is impressive for such a convoluted journey, so at least I didn't have
to interact anymore with Iberia ground staff.

MAD-CPH business. An A320 with clean and fresh looking cabin with leather seats. Middle seat left
free, and good seat pitch. Welcome drink cava or juice. Cabin crew friendly and professional. Meal
of good quality with choice between chicken or salmon. Nice fresh salad, cheese and dessert. Instant
coffee not that good, and liquor of choice. Flight dead on time. Overall a good experience.

LHR-MAD-MIA-MAD-LHR Economy. Four flights over 7 days and unsure what to expect. Flights ran to
time. The airline is never going to win any awards if only for lack of AVOD. The trade off is that
their flights were significantly cheaper than their competitors. The aircraft (including toilets)
were clean, food served on the MAD-MIA-MAD A340-300 of same quality as that on BA long haul flights
I have taken, and included complimentary alcoholic drinks. It is true that the Spanish FA's rarely
smile but they were at least civil. It is also true that they tend to disappear for most of the long
haul flights and many speak poor English. I did not witness any attitude problems. On a side issue
anyone transiting MAD T4 - T4S should allow plenty of time as although there is a rapid transfer
train, the ensuing delay to pass through mandatory security on entry to either terminal can take 30
min plus alone. Overall I had an excellent experience with IB, I knew what to expect and was
pleasantly surprised - excellent value for service provided.

LHR-MAD-BOG the first flight was good, good leg-room, cabin crew doing their job. In the second
flight, cabin crew did a good job but they could smile a bit more.

AMS-MAD-LIM economy class. Flight attendants speak English badly, that most people couldn't
understand what they were saying - also on the first flight no drink or whatsoever. Mad-Lim the
flight attendants didn't seem to like the work they were doing (they were moody and rude). They are
not responding to pax request so everbody is walking through the plane during the whole flight to
get a sandwich or a drink so if you are on the aisle side its hard to fall asleep because passengers
are bumping into you.
