BKK-VIE. I fly with EVA 3 times within the last 3 months, and every flight encountered the same
disappointment. There seems to be the rudeness and unfriendliness from some FAs. If it wasn't for
the pleasantness from the Thai FAs, it would have made those flights unbearable.

SEA-TPE-MNL. Very poor treatment was received by my family when traveling with 3 infants/toddlers.
Each of the three adults was carrying a baby, so I asked for help getting our carry on baggage down
the jetway and into the aircraft. The EVA staff at the boarding area flat refused to help us. This
was in Taipei. So after finding our seats and settling two of my babies along with my wife and the
adult helper, I took the two year old child in my arm and went back to get the remaining carry ons.
I asked a flight attendant to help me. She carried one laptop and one diaper bag from the boarding
station to our seating area on the aircraft. But she complained vehemently to another FA upon re-
entering the aircraft. After that, some of the FA's seemed reluctant to extend courtesy. When we
were disembarking from the aircraft in Manila, as a courtesy to other passengers, we waited until
everyone else was off the plane. As we were shuffling our group down the aisle of the now emptied
seating area, the chief flight attendant loudly verbally berated us for getting help from one of her
crew to transfer our carry ons onto the plane back in Taipei. When I was single, or traveling with
an adult companion, I always thought EVA was a great airline with the best flight attendants. But
they have given no forethought to helping families with more than one small child. We hadn't had
much sleep for nearly 40 hours due to the 2 AM departure time in Seattle and their refusal to allow
us to layover in Taipei one night to get some sleep. In this exhausted condition we were treated in
a despicable manner by those we expected to provide us with comfort and assistance.

TPE-SEA and EWR-TPE on B777-300 ER business. Plane was new and cabin interior was nice and clean.
Good service, food and IFE. However it's difficult to sleep on the angled seats as you keep sliding
down. There are a couple minor inconsistencies which I don't quite understand - FAs gave out tempur
pillows on the EWR-TPE segment, but we didn't get them on TPE-SEA segment. Also, FAs didn't hand
out the flight travel pouch until after the refueling stop in Anchorage (for EWR-TPE segment).

LAX-TPE in Business class on 777 instead of older 747. Plane was clean. FA's attentive enough. Seats
were a little hard - since they were lie-flat at an angle), I kept slipping down off the seat when
in lie-flat configuration. Plus if you are 6ft or taller, it's not so comfortable since part of your
leg will dangle off the end. I guess it's better than an economy seat. They give you a nice
comforter instead of just a thin blanket, plus a very soft and large pillow. Food was good, although
the choices were not to my liking, it was tasty. I usually fly Singapore Airlines, but since they
are cutting back on their LAX-TPE route, its harder to get the days I need to travel.

London-Bangkok and back in business class. Very good check in and lounge in London. Quite decent but
simple in Bangkok. The good thing of the Bangkok one was that our friends who were travelling in
Economy could you use the lounge as well after having paid a small admission fee. Great service on
board, crew had a good command of English and polite. We reserved seats and these were not changed.
The food was reserved online and rather good and a good choice of drinks - although champagne was
not served before departure. Shame about the angled lie flat seats, they were a bit unconfortable on
the reclined position. The meal service was quite quick on the way out (that was fine as we wanted
to go to sleep) and quite slow on the way back (again excellent as it was a day flight). I would fly
with them again.

I agree with the comments about Premium Laurel from LHR-BKK. On the outbound, the
meal is called supper rather than dinner which means it's abbreviated and a bit
rushed. There's no pre-flight champagne, and in fact no drinks at all after take-off
until the starters had been handed out. Wine glasses are small, and I felt like an
alcoholic for having to constantly request top-ups. On the way back, lunch is much
more leisurely, with an additional course (if I remember rightly) and far more drinks
rounds. The bed angle is a bit steep but no worse than Continental or KLM. It's a
bit let down by the plastic cutlery and a truly horrible Clarins wash-bag, but
EVA overall is extremely good value, and I'd fly them again to Asia.

We have travelled on EVA to and from Bangkok in business class for several years by choice. I think
its well worth pre ordering food on Premium Laurel. Great food. Have given up on the flat bed seats
as I find it more comfortable to leave them in arm chair function, as slowly sliding down the seat
to the floor is uncomfortable. Only problem I have ever had was trying to redeem my loyalty miles to
get an upgrade. I ended up faxing a letter to the UK general manager expressing my extreme annoyance
at the problems I was having getting an upgrade. And ten minutes later my upgrade was approved.
Overall for the money we pay its good value. Book a long time ahead, get the seats and food you want
booked in advance.

LHR-BKK-LHR Premium Laurel. Fast check-in with pre-booked seats honored. We were in the front
section and found this excellent. FAs were very attentive but surprisingly there was no pre take-
off champagne from London - although there was ex BKK. The lie flat seats are the only downside.
You simply just slide down them. The meal choice was very good but plastic cutlery was a letdown.
The lounges at Heathrow and Bangkok were very good. Unfortunately our bags did not arrive in
Bangkok on the outward journey but were delivered on to us in Phuket within 24 hours. It transpires
this was more to do with our domestic connection carrier BMI and we compliment EVA on sorting out
the problem with minimum fuss. We will fly Premium Laurel again.

FUK-TPE-PNH return in economy. FUK-TPE-FUK new A330-200, decked out in Hello Kitty theme-- from the
livery to the boarding passes, to the food to the toilet paper, it was all Hello Kitty! Living in
Japan this somehow seems entirely normal to me now, and although it might sound strange, it made
flying an experience again. FAs on this route were proficient in Mandarin, Japanese and English, and
were friendly and present in the cabin throughout the flight. Our requests for vegetarian meals were
confirmed before take-off, which gave us peace of mind. Blankets were a high quality type - nicest
I've been given in economy class. A330-200 features PTV (with Hello Kitty dancing and welcoming you
aboard before takeoff) with decent selection of TV programmes and movies. For economy trips on this
aircraft, I would rate it 4.5 stars. However, flights to PNH were another story. On an old and
cramped MD-90, the experience could only be described as very retro. Cabin layout 3-2. Although
travelling in a pair and requesting the row of 2 seats, we were given the row of three, while people
travelling in 3s were given the row of 2, and thus separated. Flying out of PNH, we were told our
row of 3 had a seat blocked for us, but this turned out not to be the case. If the seat was reclined
in front, you cannot reach down to get anything stowed under the seat. Entertainment limited, FAs
seemed harassed, and blanket appeared to come with the original aircraft, old and threadbare. A
truly uncomfortable experience. EVA Air is a great airline if you fly on the right route/aircraft.
I would not hesitate to fly with them again on their new aircraft (B777, A330), but wouldn't fly on
another MD-90 of theirs in a pink fit.

TPE-LAX Premium Laurel. Food and service above-average both ways. Flight attendants a bit too chatty
in the galleys. Lounge in TPE pathetic, but lounge in LAX a great improvement, if not a little too
noisy. Bags did not arrive with me on the way back to TPE. When they finally arrived at my house the
next day, both locks were missing and the contents of both bags had obviously been severely handled.
A bizarre assortment of items were stolen. EVA replaced the locks, but the compensation they have
offered me was, in my opinion, insufficient. They seem to have taken a cue from American airlines
and don't answer their customer service line. I give them three stars because of the way they have
treated a loyal customer on a route they certainly don't have a monopoly on.

Amsterdam-Bangkok/Bangkok-Vienna. The journey out was great except for the fact that it was operated
by a worn Boeing and no PTV screens. Service was excellent. Food was ok-ish. Way back was on the new
Airbus and had own personal screen. Service was excellent.

HKG-TPE-HKG Premium Laurel class. Very comfortable flight at a competitive fare compared to other
carriers on the same route. I had pre-booked meals on internet which tasty. Professional and
attentive staff who took care of business cabin. Nevertheless, the lounge in Taipei needs to be
improved.

LHR-BKK-LHR Elite Class. Check in at T3 was easy as I had no wait. I had pre-booked my seat which
was honoured. I managed to get through the Fast Track at passport control with an Elite boarding
pass. The flight was good and on time. FA's are attentive and polite, food is average but the drinks
plentiful - FA's go around throughout the flight with juices and water. On the return journey I had
again pre-booked a seat which when I got to check in had been changed and was put at row 26 - near
the toilets. Once onboard I was then asked to move again to row 20 which was an improvement but
frustrating with all the moving about. BKK check in was easy as was passport control with a wait of
only 3 minutes to get through. Flight again fine and landed 15 minutes early. Immigration at T3 LHR
is always a nightmare if there is more than 1 flight arriving. Luckily I had signed up for IRIS scan
which is a fantastic way of beating the queue at passport control - got through in 30 seconds! For
any UK passport holder it is well worth signing up for. Overall I would use EVA again as they are
cheaper and the service is fine. Their 1 big advantage in my opinion is the AVOD which their nearest
competitor for this sector, Thai does not have.

Agree with comments from Bob Andrews, the seat in 8H & 8J were such awful seats to be seated in as
the constant noise behind the seats was very annoying. The food I felt on the flight both to and
from BKK to London was disappointing, felt as if as soon as you were seated your food was then being
served. The selection of films was very poor. All in all the flight in business class is obviously
more enjoyable then economy, however, I would think twice before flying with EVA air again.

LHR-BKK-TPE-LHR. Check in for Premium Laurel Class was very quick. EVA use the SAS London lounge at
T3 which is over-crowded and messy and hardly worth the visit. Boarding was diabolical and chaotic
but once on board the 747-400, it was worth the effort. Business class is on the lower deck in the
front where many airlines have First Class and this is the quietest part of the airplane. The crew
were happy and very attentive but did tend to rush things somewhat. Meal and beverage selections
were good but what awful plastic cutlery on the LHR-BKK-LHR sectors! The seats are spacious and
comfortable in the normal and recline positions but very uncomfortable in the sleep position because
they are angled in two places and not lie flat. BKK is a good airport for transit and EVA has a
pleasant lounge there as they do at TPE. Return journey was a similar experience but I did find it
even more difficult to sleep in the seats. Also avoid 8H and 8J as these are in front of a galley
storage cupboard which seems to be is use continually and the noise and banging is irritating.
Arrived ahead of time at LHR T3 which was extremely crowded and it took nearly 15 minutes to get
through the UK immigration queues which of course has nothing to do with EVA airlines but does mar
the experience somewhat. Despite the few shortcomings, I would fly EVA again as they are good value
for the lower B Class fare that they charge on this route.

Manila from Newark return. B777-300 was clean and flight attendants very attentive to our needs.
Whoever designed and built the seats in the economy section must have done so with small passengers
in mind. The curvature of the seat was so uncomfortable that the pillow and blanket that they
provided had to be a buffer between my lower back and the deep hollow pocket in the back of the
seat. For a long flight, this is not the way to sit and try to catch some sleep. It was tedious and
there was not enough cushion on the seat itself that my behind was all achy when we landed in
Taiwan. Also, there are no manual vents on this plane so you'll have to deal with whatever room
temperature they set it at. They only give you 2 meals for that long stretch of about 19 hours. The
cups were so small that they probably held about 5 ounces of liquid. The entertainment center was a
personal touch screen that offered new and classic movies, in-flight shopping, games and a lot more
which I would say was very good and entertaining. Other airlines beat this airline by a mile in
terms of comfort, food and amenities.
