TPE-SIN return in economy. 747s are being phased out on this route. Flew an A330 both ways. Plane clean, food edible and ample entertainment for four hours. A tall person might be uncomfortable in the seats. 20kg weight limit for check-in baggage is strictly enforced. All- in-all a good experience and I would take them again.

LHR-BKK and BKK-LHR. First drink served over 1.5 hrs after take off. Food served well before any drinks offered. Seats small and uncomfortable, no footrests. No inflight pack unlike other airlines. Only get a blanket, pillow and headphones unlike other airlines. Food not very good. Flown with Thai Airways and they have brilliant service.

Heathrow to Brisbane via Bangkok and Taipei. Excellent service, good choice of food. Wines on London - Taipei leave a little to be desired. Plenty of leg room. 40 minute transfer in Taipei a bit of a rush, but executed professionally and better that hanging about in airport lounges.

BKK-TPE-SFO. First leg 777 Laurel Class food disappointing otherwise flight OK. Long leg on one of the old 747's with uncomfortable seats and new configuration with less room and more seats. Food was fair. I am a long term flyer with this airline and now try to book other carriers. EVA needs to get updated equipment and pay more attention to passenger comfort. The Old EVA was great but now they seem indifferent.

SFO-TPE-BKK. I've taken this round trip Evergreen Deluxe service about 12 times in the last 7 years. Eva was my favorite airline - this year it changed the plane from a 747 to a 777 and the class from Deluxe to Elite which was a big step down without telling us. All year EVA sends emails but not for this, 17 hours of flight time. The seats were not those we chose. We paid between the 2 of us $2000 more for 4 inches in total additional space in the back seats that didn't move back for sleeping. The plane was overbooked by about 30 people. it was an extremely uncomfortable flight with poor food and poor service.

BKK-TPE-LAX business Class, and was impressed with the service the food and overall product that EVA offers. The toilets kept clean, staff very friendly and efficient nothing was a bother for them. The entertainment was also good. I am not too keen on their seat sleeping position but nice pillows and quilt. I feel they have a good product, but if the seat was a full flat bed they would have got a higher rating from me.

Bangkok-TPE-LAX return on Boeing 777ER300in Elite/Deluxe class. The seat was quite good, - plenty of legroom, wide, recline could be bettert. AVOD for IFE was good (not great - but good). Checkin at Bangkok was good with Elite Class line. Seat requests were honored. In flight service was adequate. It could be better - they flight attendants weren't readily available throughout the long flight - they'd come if you rang them. Food was not very good. Drink service was ok.

I was also on BR067 from Bangkok arriving January 31st 2009 and it is now February 5th and I still do not have my luggage. What offends me is EVA air's complete lack of service or concern. If you call their baggage agents they are either engaged or on answerphone and do not call back. EVA air just refer you to the agents and if you ask to be put through to Customer Services, they refuse to do so, saying you must write as they do not talk to passengers. Some service! It is a disgrace to be treated this way; EVA's attitude throughout is to do what is best for them with complete disregard for their customers.

LAX - TPE economy. The boarding experience at LAX was ridiculous. They had us queue by seating assignment rows in increments of 10 within their crowded makeshift gate. Then we all boarded buses outside the terminal and were ferried to the plane, about five minutes away. There was no point to queue us up by rows if we all crammed into a bus. For an economy class product, it was better than I expected. Food decent, FA's came through the cabin with water and juice about once per hour. The blanket and slippers were a nice touch. Best thing was the AVOD system with a nice selection of recent movies. Musical selection was a bit lacking in choice.

Arrived in London from Bangkok on 31st January 2009, fiasco with luggage as the hold was apparently frozen and could not be opened. The plane left full of passengers to return to Bangkok will all the luggage belonging to about 300 passengers that arrived on the inbound flight. No EVA Air rep on hand to advise. To cut a long story short it is now 4th February and still no luggage - EVA Air customer Services could not give a damn - in fact dont call them before 2pm as no one is there.

LHR-TPE-LHR Premium Laurel Class. Check in at LHR was very quick and the SAS London lounge pleasant. However (again!) the boarding gate was chaotic but once on board, things were OK. Service very good with a good selection of food, beverages and AVOD. You can order your meals online before you fly - this is a nice touch and there are meals that are not available in- flight. The only complaint is again the very poor seats and the great difficulty in sleeping at an angle. The service LHR-BKK always seems rushed though. Return from TPE very similar experience. The Evergreen "outside" lounge at TPE is very nice. Boarding was quick and once on-board, good service all the way back. I would avoid the front cabin of business class on the 747-400 because of the noise from the galley behind during the flight. The cabin behind the galley is much quieter.

Elite class LHR-BKK return. Online seat selection and check-in a boon. In Bkk they direct Elite passengers to the premium security/immigration channel after check-in, not so at Lhr. Both flights full in the Elite cabin. Decent service, food adequate, but they weren't doing water rounds. Flight back they had sandwiches in the galley plus drinks, but didn't tell anybody - you had to go to find this out. They promptly answered the call bell. From using this service previously, small things have gone - No more pot-noodles as a mid-flight snack option, no printed menu, and the little pack of toothbrush etc has been stripped back so far as to almost have disappeared. I'm sure food's the same as economy anyway (only the paper napkin has elite printed on it, from recollection), an observation backed by the "Chicken or Beef" option for a couple of the meals. Overall a decent experience, but the price has gone up 40% since I started using it 3 years ago, and there hasn't been any extension of the value.

HKG-TPE-EWR return premium laurel class. The first segment in A330 - only 5 passengers in the business class section. The service was excellent and food very good. The second segment was 14 hours and service was also very good though the cabin was only half-full. The seats however were not up to standard - they are quite uncomfortable in the sleep' condition. The return journey required a fueling stop at Anchorage. The service and food still very good. After landing at Taipei the ground personnel informed me that it may not be possible for me to get connected to HKG because there was only 20 minutes for the connection, although in the end I made it. In conclusion, it was a pleasant experience.

Premium Laurel speedy check-in, clean cabins, top notch AVOD and selection of movies and music. The seats are wide and well cushioned, but the lie-flat condition is not comfortable (foot rest too short and too inclined). They provide very good pillows, so at least you have a good neck support. The wine list features good French names. Food is usually quite good, especially on the Bangkok to London segment, with cheese served on a cart. However, the food London to Bangkok was pretty miserable: EVA AIR the steak in port sauce was not worth more than a canteen meal.

LHR-Bangkok Boeing 747/400. Check in took about 45 mins. We had seats on the upper deck, row 88. Service was good, food was adequate and tasty. The crew brought round drinks on request and served soft drinks though the night. Plenty of legroom - my seat was a bit hard but bearable. Choice of films etc on seat back entertainment console. Flight home was similar - we had seats in the main cabin, row 54 which was good as there was no one immediately behind us. Overall a good experience.

Osaka -Taipei - Brisbane Economy return. A330-200 on all legs and cabin and toilets were clean and flight attendants relatively polite. FA's English was fairly basic, and EVA Air needs to improve on this point. The seats were of the slide variety which I personally didn't like, as my backside kept slipping. It was okay for the 2 hour flight from Japan to Tapei route - however for the 9 hour route from Taipei to Brisbane, it became quite uncomfortable and hard. There is no footrest and be warned that nearly all seats have the lifevests stored underneath, so this cuts severely into leg and foot room for tall people. IFE system quite good with a range of movies (classics and hollywood) and other channels (sci-fi, Discovery, Opera, Kids). They also had games but this was very poor. IFE also has inflight info and shopping channels. We decided to order western style vegetarian meals with EVA - from Japan to Taiwan we got it, and it was reasonable. Taiwan to Brisbane they stuffed up and all they could offer us was the crew's Asian vegetarian meals which were awful. The standard meal (which we didn't have) looked even worse. Australia to Taiwan to Japan we got the correct western vegetarian meals which were OK. We brought on Subway sandwiches from Taiwan to Japan and enjoyed them more than the airline's meal. Water was not offered frequently - in fact it was offered only once or twice on the 9 hour legs and not at all on the 2 hour legs. EVA Air provided slippers and a comfort blanket which was fairly thick but no other amenities such as toothpaste, toothbrush or eye mask. EVA has introduced a system where they sent you an email before the flight which allows you to choose your seats online. However be aware that because our flight was booked through a travel agent, we received this option very late - 2 days before departure. So our seat options were very limited and the plane was almost full on all legs at the time we received this email. I suspect that people who book online would get to choose their seat straight away. We flew Japan-Taiwan during the day but had to wait 8 hours at the airport before getting on the night flight to Australia. This night leg was awful and I got about 2 hours sleep. On the way back to Taiwan we flew during the day and we felt so much better, arriving in Taiwan in good spirits. We stayed overnight at the airport at EVA Transit Hotel, which is worth its weight in gold for a good night's sleep. EVA was the cheapest ticket available by a fair margin and our experience overall was 6/10 - I would choose them again, if the price was right. They are much better than Korean Air.

SFO-TPE. Economy class. No leg rest and lack of seat pitch made this 14 hour flight miserable. Flight attendants rushed through both the dinner and breakfast service and disappeared after they cleared the trays. Clearly a far cry from SIA.

Hong Kong to Taipei. My husband is disabled, he was given every assistance possible by Eva staff in Hong Kong and Taipei airports. Our transfer in Hong Kong outwards was made exceptionally easy they dealt with everything in a very kind and courteous manner. On our return we had a stopover in Hong Kong, and were assisted to the Airport hotel. The food in flight was fairly good.

HKG-TPE-HKG Economy class - I was not impressed. Meal service was adequate for the 1.5 hour flight but bellow standard compare to what other carrier offers on this route. Only a fork was provided with the meal, no spoon or knife. First time I see that on a flight. Drink service was very disjointed. It only consisted of water, coffee and orange juice. I would definitely have expected more variety, especially on an evening flight. Flight attendant just did their job, nothing much to mentioned about it beside the relatively poor English level. IFE on the 747-400 is definitely quite nice, easy to use, large selection of program. I would fly EVA again if the fare offered justifies it, otherwise I would fly other carriers.

Flew London via Bangkok to Brisbane in Premium Laurel and everything very good. Seats comfortable and food delicious. Our overnight stay in Taipei was very comfortable and the transfer from Airport to hotel and back was excellent. Having flown with all the "big airlines" I would say EVA offer best value.
