JFK to AUH in economy. Flight was only less than one half full so that probably made a
difference. Trip paid for for me, so can't comment much on the value. Most passengers were
connecting to Asia via AUH. The flight attendants were attentive and friendly. Two hot meals.
If you call reservations before your flight to reserve your seat, they will encourage you to
order a "special' meal. Between meals unlimited snacks and beverages available. Excellent in-
flight entertainment on demand. Pleasant little amenity kits with socks, ear plugs,
toothbrush/paste and eye shades. Clean cabin environment. Minuses were that half the toilets
on the plane were out of order. The seats do not have small winglets to support your head when
you dose off. They need this. Seats seem quite hard, pillows too small to be of much use.

Sydney-Abu Dhabi-Cairo return. The seating was good but some entertainment systems tend to
fail. This happened to me, they gave me a portable DVD player - on A340-500 this was plugged
into a power outlet below the seats. The food was typical airline food.

I've flown Etihad three times in the last year from Sydney to Dublin. Overall they are just
okay. If you are looking for something cheap and safe they are fine. The food is hit and miss
depending on what leg of the journey you are on. They always run out of stuff, food, wine and
even tea! The entertainment system works sometimes and there is not a lot of leg room.
Generally the flights are packed with screaming kids scattered throughout the plane so if you
have a long flight and are planning to sleep forget it - that's all in Economy. I did get
upgraded for one leg of a journey and the difference was like night and day. Peace and quite,
a flat bed, food and service was good. If you can afford Business or First Class fly with
Etihad but if you have to go Economy choose another airline.

AUH-JED-AUH. The outbound was a 777, flight was full however everything went ok. For the
return, I arrived to Jeddah airport, only to see that the flight was not on the departure
board. I asked the information desk and was told that there was no Etihad flight. I asked as
many people as I could and showed my confirmation but no one could help. Eventually, someone
told me to visit the Wataniya airways office as they deal with Etihad flights. They told me
that the Etihad flight I was departing with was from the Hajj terminal, an 18km drive away and
a $30 trip. The only flight out of this terminal was the Etihad flight. The check in desks
were open however the system was not working and we had to wait in line for almost an hour
until this was sorted. Lucky for Etihad that they only had to check in 31 passengers when the
departure time was an hour away. The flight was operated with an older A330. I overheard some
passengers arguing with the cabin manager regarding taking off from a different terminal
without the prior knowledge of the passenger - however she did not seem interested and told
the passenger she has no idea where they land. When things do not go well, the staff have no
idea about customer service.

I found Etihad varied in how they treated families traveling long distances. Upon arrival to
Sydney from Abu Dhabi I was refused help with my two children and two small overhead luggage
bags. The ground staff at Dublin airport informed me that my childrens pram would be made
available to me when I disembarked. This accured at Abu Dhabi but did not occur in Sydney.
When I asked where my pram was at Sydney airport, I was informed to locate it at the luggage
claims plus further assistance was declined. I was also told that if I could not manage
perhaps I should not travel in future.

The problem with Etihad is the cabin crew standard. One flight the staff are perfect and
service excellent, but another flight it is the worst service you could imagine. Another issue
is they tend to upgrade half a family and the other half visit the upgraded ones disturbing
all the passengers. It is a shame - when they started out they were excellent. When they
charge 75,000 Baht BKK to LHR return it is value, but when they charge 100,000 baht I choose
Thai Airways.

Manchester - Jo'burg return. Legroom was good. FAs attentive and helpful on all flights.
Entertainment had a very good selection, but on 2 legs the sound was poor with constant
interference. Food was good and water was provided at regular intervals. Toilets clean and
worked well. Only complaint was the seats are hard after a couple of hours sitting - South
African Airways smaller Airbus to Harare had much more comfortable seats.

Manchester to Sydney return with a two hour transfer in Abu Dhabi. The service was excellent,
food superb, regular drinks etc. Staff pleasant. Seats good with personal entertainment
screen that was very good. Luggage transferred with no problems on the outward and return leg
of the journey. I would recommend Etihad based on my experience.

If you intend to travel with children, or have particular needs or dietary requirement - avoid
Etihad like the plague! We travelled Melbourne to Manchester return, they kept the seat belt
sign on for 13 hours of the 14 hour Melbourne to Abu Dhabi leg both ways, and there was barely
any turbulence. As such, passengers just had to ignore the signs at their own risk. The
standard food was appalling, they did not provide food for infants or children (not just us,
but all of the infants in our row) and the dietary requirements for my partner were all but
ignored "we haven't got anything, what can I do about it?" etc, etc. We asked for a bottle of
water, the attendant said we could not have one, as they didn't think they had enough water
for the flight! Dont bother ringing the call bell, they wont answer. The toilets by 10 hours
were disgusting and basins were overflowing, and they expect you to wash your baby feeding
equipment in there! The child across the aisle threw up on the floor and we asked the
attendants to help clean up, they ignored it and that was the last we saw of an attendant for
2 hours - even though the call bell was on!

Heathrow-Abu Dhabi-Singapore-Brisbane return. I was travelling alone with my two childen (6 &
10) on my own. We were allowed to board the plane before everyone else, the staff checked my
children were ok, made hot chocolate for them, brought them puzzles etc. The food was of high
standard and they provided a childrens meal. I found staff friendly and good size seating.

Pearl Class Bahrain-Abu Dhabi-Melbourne, return via Sydney. Catering and IFE were of a high
standard, liked the Etihad business lounge in Abu Dhabi - friendly staff keen to offer good
service. On the outward and return journeys the business cabin was less than 50% full, so
service was good. The crew were friendly and attentive, flat bed seat excellent and I
managed to sleep. The a la carte menu service worked and I liked the on demand dining - food
quality was just adequate. I would certainly travel Etihad again - the main aspect for me was
a more comfortable seat than Emirates - service was comparable.

Milan to Melbourne via a connecting flight from Abu Dhabi, meal Milan to Abu Dhabi was exac
tly the same as the meal they served Abu Dhabi to Melbourne. On my return flight to Milan, the
air hostess forgot to bring me and my fellow passenger our meal - a situation which caused us
to laugh and to remain speechless as well. My tv screen didn't work and requested to be moved
- I was moved to another seat where I did not feel comfortable at all, as it was in the middle
of two other people, even though I had asked for an aisle seat. I had noticed there was a
lady who had occupied 4 middle seats by laying across them. I expressed my disapproval with
the hostess by telling her that it was not fair to be sitting down like canned sardines while
there was other people occupying 4 middle seats of which two were aisle seats. The
unsatisfactory response was that there was nothing she could do as a passenger was free to
occupy as many seats as she pleased - very strange answer I believe.

My wife and children were leaving Oman airport to return to Ireland on Business Class flights.
The flight was cancelled with no information to anyone and we were basically told it was tough
and nothing could be done. The arrogance that was shown was unbelievable and sure enough,
other passengers were diverted to other flights but not my family whose Business class flights
were booked from April. This was the end of June. It was a case of this is the way it is, get
over it. They have a lot to learn with reference to Customer Care. Their administration
department were poor and no way sympathetic. I suggest their Manager in Muscat have a
definitive look at their attitude. Unfortunately, the return leg of the trip is also booked
with Etihad but this will be the last unpleasant experience I will subject ourselves to.
