DXB-SYD-AKL A380. I was travelling with a 20month old and pregnant. Luckily my mother flew
in a few days earlier from AKL to help me home. The cabin was cramped, no way to get a seat
with extra room to assist in dealing with a young child and as he was ill the entire flight
getting in and out of the seats was very trying. No assistance offered to us. Toilets poorly
placed and designed. Food mediocre and most meal services ran out of one choice of the meal
early on in service. Only assistance we received was late in the flight, too little too late
to make much of a difference but welcome all the same. Will try Singapore next time if I need
to go back to DXB.

SFO-DXB-DEL. ICE entertainment system with lots of movies, TV shows and games; Power adaptors
and USB ports on seats. Leg space on 777 cabin is too small - had hard time getting
comfortable to get any amount of sleep. Meal service on 16 hrs SFO - DXB segment was limited
to breakfast, small snack and lunch, recommend carrying your own snack especially if traveling
with children. Cabin crew polite, but be ready to demand what you deserve. I was planning to
work on my laptop or read a book in flight, but I found it impossible given the cabin setup.
In our return journey, we were at DXB airport during 7-9am. During this period, the lack of
restrooms at the airport was quite evident with long lines in both men's and women's
restrooms. The cabin gets virtually no service apart from meal time, as a result by the end of
a 16hrs flight, it looked like a dirty bar that had endured a raucous party overnight with
food, cutlery, napkins, wrappers, etc. strewn all over.

HKG-BKK return, B777-300. Plane excellent condition as usual but crew seemed such in hurry.
Luggage claim at BKK there was long queue and waited 15-20minutes.

LHR-DXB-AKL return Business Class. Food, drinks and service excellent. Seats on A340 from DXB-
AKL return not fully flat, and somewhat uncomfortable for the lower back. However, flight on
upper deck of A380 from Dubai to LHR fantastic, with fully flat beds and a bar/lounge area at
the rear of the plane. The in-seat food service was slow - crew apparently have to queue up in
the galley and wait for their assigned passenger's orders. No trolley was used to serve the
food. For the price (special offer), I think Emirates Business Class is unbeatable.

Rome-Luanda-Rome in business on A330 (one leg on 777-200). Seats very poor. Have flown EK's
A380 and 777-ER on C before and the contrast is gaping. Service very inconsistent. From
lamentably poor on FCO-DXB leg (took close to 3 hrs to serve dinner, finally gave up on
dessert to catch an hour's sleep before preparation for landing starts), to good on Luanda-DXB
leg.

SYD-AKL return A380. Boarding in Sydney quick and efficient, ICE inflight entertainment system
is rather good, seats standard economy. Toilets are extremely poor, only 4 for the economy
class and they are very tiny. Service was quite average, asked for water and never received
it, some passengers getting preferential treatment, stewardesses well presented but service is
lacking. Food was horrible. 30kg baggage is a plus. There is too much hype over EK, their ads
and sponsorship of everything from football to cricket and horse racing is doing its work, but
in all honesty I'd rather be flying MH.

LHR-Dubai-BKK in business. Security procedures in Dubai have improved, T3 lounge in Dubai was
clean and busy and large. The lounge food is exceptional. A380 seat product is very
comfortable. I received a luke warm preflight drink. Crew have to serve meals to each
passenger personally on a silver tray and they can't seem to master this. Amazingly, they
started to serve lunch at 9am and the menu selection has not been changed for 6 months. I
asked if I could eat closer to lunch time and was told they can only keep the food for 1 hr.
When my meal order was taken I specifically asked if I should order dessert at that time and
was told they would do that later. I was told there were no salad dressings available for the
salad despite the menu stating 'with choice of dressings'. I challenged them and my dressing
appeared. After my main course, a crew member came and without asking me, whipped away my
plates and tableware and the dessert and coffee were not offered. Later, another crew member
walked frantically from nose to tail and plonked a small box of chocolates next to each
passenger but never offered coffee. Then another crew gave me a hot towel and at that time I
asked him if this was my dessert - I had not been offered dessert, cheese or coffee. He tried
to blame me for this, and asked me if I was in my seat when they came around - it took over 3
hrs from appetiser to my hot towel dessert. All soft drinks including water were served tepid
- asking for ice meant a 10mins wait. Even during the meal service only wines and no soft
drinks/water were offered and the small mini-bar next to the seats is not refrigerated.

LAX-DXB-BLR on Boeing 777-200LR and A330-200 Economy. The 777-200LR from LAX is almost brand
new and a dream to fly. Economy class seats were decent (pitch and width). Only 2 hour wait
time in Dubai. The ICE entertainment was the best I have used, providing latest movies, music,
news etc. Only downside was touchscreen sensitivity; it simply wasn't very sensitive. Onboard
service was ok. Friendly crew but not attentive. Vegetarian meal was atrocious. I asked for
Asian vegetarian which I assumed would be Chinese food. Instead they served Indian food and it
was horrible. Overall I would recommend flying this particular aircraft on this particular
route. If you're a vegetarian, pack your own food or at least bring some candy bars.
Dubai to BLR - Old A330 cabin. Very cramped seating. I'm 5"9 and I found it really tight. To
the point that when the passenger in front of me lowered his seat, I was literally left
staring at my reflection on the PTV screen, my breath fogging up the glass. The passenger in
front didn't even lower his seat that much. In addition, the seats are very uncomfortable. If
you tilt the seat back, the lower cushion tilts downwards instead of upwards leaving your
thighs unsupported. So really you don't want to tilt your seat back or it causes a terrible
backache which basically means having to sit upright for 4 hours. Overall I would avoid this
leg as much as possible but depending on where you're going, you may not have a choice.
Emirates used to be a class standard but not in my case. Judging from the many other negative
reviews on this site, I assume my experience is not isolated especially in regards to
uncomfortable seats, lack of attention by crew, late departure/arrivals.

DUS-DXB-JNB . Have flown with Emirates many times both business and eco and was quite happy,
but this time was not pleasant. No footrests on any of the 4 legs, which is very uncomfortable
and made my knees hurt after 3 or 4 hours. Service friendly but not overly efficient. A
terrible nuisance are the constant announcements in at least 3 languages and the completely
useless Dubai-adverts. Can't they just let me finish my movie? The online-check-in counter in
DUS was overcrowded while the First and business class counter staff had nothing to do and was
having a nice little chat. But the very worst was DXB-DUS : the departure was from a Terminal
1 bus gate and plane was parked a 20 minute sightseeing-ride away from the building. The plane
was an old rustbucket with worn out seats, no ICE, minimum service and luke-warm food. Must
say, Emirates is just another airline and nothing special anymore.

GLA-DBX-MLE return. Didn't manage to get extra leg room seats, but although I'm tall, I found
that the leg room in the ordinary seats was ok. Cabin crew friendly and efficient. Food was
good, with a choice of Asian dishes or western. Inflight entertainment was good - large
selection of films, music and other stuff. Quick and efficient transfer of luggage at Dubai on
the return, though the flight from MLE had been delayed and there was little more than an hour
between the connecting flights.

NCL-DXB-BKK return A330-200 and B777-300 in J class. FAs fantastic on all the flights, the
seats on the A330 need upgrading as they are poor, and the IFE on the A330 needs to be
upgraded. Seats and IFE on B777 are great. The thing that lets Emirates down is the food -
breakfast on 3 of the 4 flights I just left and the main meals were not any better. At Dubai
the T1 lounge is now the better lounge to use and not the T3 lounge - T1 feels more like a
airline lounge and is nearly always empty when I use it.
