LHR-DXB-MEL. London-Dubai on B777, seats somewhat uncomfortable as the headrest appeared to
be forcing my head slightly forward, which was not a natural position. Inflight meals were a
little bland, no midflight snacks offered. IFE superb, the best I have encountered. On
transfering to the DXB-MEL (via SIN) flight, found it to be a smaller and older EK 777. Seats
were just as uncomfortable and the IFE was not as good as the newer 777 from LHR. Again, meal
service was bland on this flight. Crew were only about in the cabin during meal service, not
really seen at other times. MEL-DXB-LHR. Usual cramped service found on previous EK flights
using 777 from MEL-DXB (via SIN). Flight was 1.5hrs late leaving MEL. Pushed back on time,
but found mechanical fault with aircraft engine on start-up resulting in aircraft going back
to stand in MEL to await engineer. During time on stand, crew did not offer any refreshments
to passengers despite requests from several people. On transfer at DXB, switched to A380 for
flight to LHR. Found this to be a much better experience in terms of comfort level and space,
along with a fantastic IFE system. Inflight meal service was however, bland as experienced on
the previous flight from MEL. Only booked with EK due to 30kg baggage allowance needed at the
time. Will be travelling with Qantas next year as overall service level in my opinion is better.

DXB-SIN service in Business was an improvement over the service I experienced in Economy on
the previous flight - may have something to do with the fact that the cabin was about 70%
empty so crew weren't rushed. Catering still woeful, even for J class. Seats in J class on the
777 weren't great. As it was, I used airmiles to upgrade and even then I felt short-changed.
All in all, not a positive experience on Emirates of late.

MAN-CAN via DXB. Manchester check-in, which was swift and efficient. One problem I
encountered was the slow boarding, which seemed disorganised and somewhat confused. The other
criticism I would give Emirates is their 10 abreast seating plan in Economy on their 777
planes, which makes the aisles very narrow and you get bumped by Flight Attendants and other
passengers, coming past you if you sit on the aisle. The legroom was generous, food served on
Emirates was the best I've had on an airline. The cabin crew were polite and friendly, though
almost never responded to being paged. ICE system was excellent and worked throughout the
flight without problems. At Dubai Airport, I had a 3 hour transit and found it to be very
big, but efficient . The boarding for the Guangzhou flight was much more efficient than at
Manchester and everything worked out well at the end of the day.

Dubai-Singapore only marginally better. Again, food nothing to get excited about. It appears
that even in Business Class EK catering leaves a lot to be desired. Service from the Business
Class crew was more engaging and personal (a mix of North American and Australian crew on this
leg). I didn't feel as cheated as someone who may have paid money for a Business Class flight
on this route (I used miles to upgrade). Also, although the seats recline a fair bit, they
aren't the best.

London Gatwick-Dubai-Kuala Lumpur return. Well organised check in, cabin crew appeared
efficient although the male crew seemed to lack the personal touch of the female cabin crew
and not quite in the same league. Food was okay. Emirates have their own terminal at Dubai.
Spacious but more seating is needed. Cramped seating on the B777-300ER in economy class.
Excellent AVOD.

LHR-DXB. Disappointed with the service. Crew a little clumsy - managed to drop stuff on both
myself and the passenger sitting next to me. Food woeful. Crew wasn't anything special. Y
class in EK has really dipped. The only saving grace was the inflight entertainment. All in
all, a three-star experience rather than a four star.

LHR-SYD. This was probably the most uncomfortable flight I have ever flown in my many years of
flying. The seats were hard and did not offer back support and to add to the discomfort there
were no footrests in Y. The attitude from the crew ranged from appalling to decent. Never
answered the call bells and rushed through the meal service without a smile. They seem to hide
a lot in the galley to gossip and eat. Onboard meals poor and very bland. The only thing I
found amazing ois their IFE system. Next time would fly SIA instead on this route as they
offer a superior product and service.

NCL-DXB-NCL 3 class A330-200. Very old style seating, comfortable however. FA's good and
helpful. Food and drinks brought round regularly. Return journey upgraded to first, but I felt
service was better in Business . The chief steward (purser) never actually did anything, but
talk to a young lady. FA's nowhere near as friendly or efficient as going out - and they had
less passengers to look after. Maybe lack of attention was because they knew we had been
upgraded from business and were not true First passengers. The new T3 lounge is dreadful.
people sleeping across the seats. I complained and was told it was not allowed and they would
wake them up. We were there 2 hours and the sleepers were we still there when we left to board
plane.

LCA-SYD return, online booking and check-in and desk staff at airports efficient. LCA-DXB
B777, nice flight. DXB-SYD A380, upgraded to First so no complaint there, first time on this
aircraft, excellent food and drink, friendly and helpful staff, loved the pyjamas and shower.
SYD-DXB A380, same aircraft and crew, but absolutely ridiculous meal service, dinner and
breakfast, unsynchronised left and right aisle teams (my wife got the better deal but only
just), wrong starter, ghastly main course, no dessert, one drink in 3 hours, slow,
uncommunicative, disorganised. When I asked if the cabin staff were under training, I was told
they were trialling a new meal service system and it had not been a success! How true. SYD-LCA
A330 bright cabin with great crew. ICE excellent all the way round. DXB lounge too busy (here
we go again), SYD lounge welcoming and restful, lovely snacks. Complimentary hotel just off
airport for 10 hour stop at DXB comfortable and efficient. The bar in the A380 Business
section is a nice idea but I don't think we need a cocktail hostess and canapes for all 14
hours: on tap coffee and sandwiches, which were available but only after a wait, would be more
appropriate at 0300. I don't really have a suitable alternative to Emirates on this route and
have supported them loyally for some while but that one leg out of SYD made me wonder. At the
very least, I would recommend a shorter, plainer menu with honest descriptions, 2 trolleys per
aisle (drinks and food, served in order, row by row, so you don't miss anybody) and cut out
the freelance wandering up and down in the dark looking for the owners of rapidly cooling dishes.

LGW-DXB on early afternoon flight. Painless check in followed by a long queue through
security. Fast track not available. Emirates Lounge is top notch with attentive staff,
plenty of space and a hot lunch. Old style business class seats on the 777-300ER, ICE the
best I've seen. Cabin service good with a sensible sequencing on the meal service allowing a
little time between courses. DXB-SIN, the new Business Class lounge at DXB is like a regular
departure lounge with softer seating and free food. No atmosphere and certainly not tranquil.
Food and service good. Newer 777-300ER's with shell seat, lots of privacy in the window seat,
ample legroom. An excellent wide screen with wireless ICE though the skymap and aircraft
cameras were not functioning from my seat. The finish of seats was impressive as were the
automatic window blinds. Cabin staff excellent.

MEL-SIN-DXB-LHR in a B777-300. Chauffeur pick-up worked perfectly and check-in very quick. The
lounges at Melbourne, Singapore and Dubai (though huge and impersonal) were comfortable with a
good range of services. The onboard service was friendly, and I found the lie-flat seat with
mattress very comfortable - managed to get a few hours' sleep. The food was OK but not
outstanding. Singapore and Dubai legs arrived about 30 mins early, and the promised breakfast
failed to materialise. Row 7 in the B777-300 does not have proper window seats - you have to
lean forward to see out of the window. At Dubai there was a lengthy bus transfer on departure.
The final chauffeur service was efficient too, but the service desk at Terminal 3 at Heathrow
was not immediately obvious!
