Tripoli-Jakarta via DXB return in Business. Mixed experience, friendly and efficient crew on
outbound flight, less impressive on return. Pre-ordered seafood meal served without mistake.
EK deserves its 4-Star ranking instead of 5-Star ranking, due to its old and tired aircraft
interior. Sorry to say but 2x-3x2 in A330 business is out of date and greedy these days, when
the competitors have already moved to 2x2x2 in 777-300ER. DXB business lounge feels crowded on
weekdays morning, people are lining up for showers and even toilets. There are simply better
competitors out there these days.

HKG-DXB-MXP Economy Return. B777-200 HKG-DXB-HKG and B777-300ER DXB-MXP with the new ICE
system which I found very difficult to navigate. Old A340-300 on MXP-DXB leg with only an old
personal TV which was appalling. Seat was OK on the 777s but very cramped on the A340. Food
portion small but edible. Average service from cabin crew. Drinks served only during meal
time which was not enough. A pretty average airline.

Flew return from Hamburg via Dubai to Mauritius in January with B-777/300 (old and new
interior). Expected high level as we were told by several reviews. However, it was quite a
disappointment. Seats too tight and too narrow, especially the "old" seats. People > 185cm
have a real problem. Why do they squeeze in an additional seat in each row? It's 3x4x3
compared to 3x3x3 with other airlines. The aisle is actually too tight for the trolleys
bothering staff as well as passengers. May be a reason for the generally not too friendly
staff. Food service was ok; however, there was no service with drinks (water etc.) afterwards.
The only "highlight" was the entertainment system (lots of movies in different languages,
games, news, music etc).

Rome to Perth return. Staff were helpful sorting our seats, and also friendly at changing my
food preferences. Staff on board were friendly, served extra drinks when required, were
helpful and talkative. The luggage came in on time and in perfect shape both ways. I had a
musical instrument and worried needlessly after reading reviews online. I only have two
complaints, the 777-200 aircraft should have been used on the 11 hour journey Dubai to Perth,
while the 777-300 should have been used on the Rome to Dubai - the 777-300 in economy class
has extra leg space for tall people, while the 777-200 is really crammed. My second complaint
is that the food was appalling - and inedible compared to other airlines I have flown with in
the past.

Newcastle-Dubai-Auckland returning from Christchurch. Good clean aircraft, friendly staff who
provided assistance to my disabled wife. Food was better than most airline offerings. Staff
seemed to devote an inproportionate amount of time to Business and first class passengers.

DXB-DOH-DXB. Good service, only problem is the plane they use, A330-200 has seen better days
and is not up to the standard. I flew economy which was okay - however cold potatoes as a
meal is something I have never come across before.

Flew return twice with Emirates Economy class, December and July, BHX to MEL. B777-300ER a
disgrace. No footrests and seats too hard with lump under thighs. Most uncomfortable flight to
Australia I have ever experienced. IFE Screens impossible to see in daylight, even with blinds
down and headsets are disastrous - really awful sound reproduction. With flights of that
length you are desperate for entertainment you can see and hear. Pre-booked meals, and
received only 3 times out of 12 so had to take what was available. Drinking water like gold
dust. FAs polite when you could find them! Have just returned again from Oz, this time with
Singapore. What a difference!

MAN-DXB-BKK-SYD and PER-DXB-MAN Economy on B777s. ICE generally good - but with variability
in system age between legs eg. screens very poor DXB-MAN leg. Most flights fairly close to
full. Food poor to fair. Seats OK, but lacking footrests now and uncomfortable with little
upper leg/thigh support. Main problem is the FAs - most appeared to be disinterested, few
smiles and often just sat in the galley chatting for considerable lengths of time. Only on
some flights they did bring around water and juice - eg DXB-MAN which also had the best crew
in terms of attitude. DXB to SYD via BKK very poor - hardly saw the FAs all flight and WCs
were not checked, cleaned etc, so were in a very poor state by the end of the flight. Service
seems to have declined substantially over the last year or so. Nowhere near Singapore
Airlines or Qantas. Only positive was the price of the fare.

BHX-DXB return. B777-300 aircraft with old style seats which do not recline very far - when
they work at all. I use this service three to four times a year because of the convenience of
a local airport. I enjoy the limo service to and from the airport and the standard of service
onboard is generally excellent as is catering and IFE. It is a shame that these old seats
continue to be a feature of this service.

DXB to SYD return. I used loyalty miles to upgrade to First on both legs. The suites were
excellent with very comfortable seats which convert into flat beds. IFE excellent. The menu,
prepared on request was extensive - full meals to lighter options. I did not try the shower
facilities on board - passengers who did said they worked well although the amount of actual
shower time of five minutes was short. The bathrooms are large and well appointed.

Had a free upgrade from business class. Emirates have 1st Class suites and normal seating in
different planes. The suites are magnificent and can be closed off from the rest of the cabin,
with plenty of storage space. The normal seating is roomy but with little space for books,
handbags etc. Service was excellent. We flew London-Dubai-Cape Town and back Jo'burg-Dubai-
London. In both cases the first leg was delayed and we spent 8 hours in Dubai instead of 90
mins. I would recommend planning a minimum 3 hour lay-over. Lounges good, particularly
Terminal 3 at Dubai, though problems with the showers.

DXB-HKG-DXB. A330-200 cramped seats, so-so food; IFE average. Had back pain by the time we
landed in HKG. For return journey, changed the booking to have B777-300. Much better seats,
good IFE. We take EK every year from NBO-DXB-BOM and are satisfied with the service and
aircraft. If you have time (and a little extra cash), take the DXB-BKK-HKG with A380-800 then
onward on A330 or B777; a friend of mine took it and was very happy. EK lounge facilities in
DXB and HKG excellent!

SYD-DXB-CAI return. A380 SYD-DXB, B777 DXB to CAI. A380 experience was mixed. Seats above
average for economy with reasonable leg- room and passable recline. As always, the seat
cushion ends up being too short under thigh though. ICE system is fantastic and helps soothe
the agony of a long flight. Food is mediocre at best, with choices running out very quickly
even near the front of the plane (I suspect the FAs didn't want to fetch my preferred choice
from another cart). FA attitude varies from disinterested to indifferent, Emirates need to
train their people better or pay them more as their attitude is light years away from QF, CX
or SQ. DXB terminal 3 a vast improvement over the old terminal. 777 from CAI to DXB
significantly worse, leg room at least a couple of inches less and plane looking old and
tatty. Good thing it was only a 3-4 hour flight.
