Emirates now have blocked almost all upgrades to a higher class using skywards points. In fact
there are no upgrades available for December between DXB and MEL. Gold members no longer have
a priority over non members over seat selection, EK have also now introduced a policy of
blocking off bulkhead seats. Recently I have been unable to acquire these seats and surprised
on boarding the aircraft to see them occupied not by passengers with infants but by the one
off infrequent fliers! There are other airlines who prioritise and look after their frequent
fliers, but Emirates seem to have now adopted a completely differEnt attitude towards Gold
members. Return trip Durban to Dubai - many lapses and unprofessional cabin crew and unsafe
journey. One aspect is disorganized seating arrangements. They had got the families with
infants, many husbands and wives all mixed up at different seats. When bottled water was
requested the FA said it is an extra service and it is over. An hour later we asked another
male member of the crew. I cannot understand how He brought us water which was said to be
finished by the his female colleague. Also it is unbelievable that water supply to a passenger
is limited after paying that much!

LGW-DXB. First leg of flight to Jakarta. Poor in every respect. 1 hour plus delay at LGW.
Explanation in gate lounge (gate 51 standing room only, hot & stuffy) different from that on
plane. Cabin crew somewhat surly and seemingly disinterested. Food poor and tasteless
including special dietary request. White wine served warm. 3 class 777-300ER seats too
narrow, no footrests. ICE had plenty of films but a strange selection. Sitting at DXB waiting
onward flight hoping that as its 2 class it may be better. After an equally pitiful LGW-DXB-
Jakarta round trip in August this was the benefit of the doubt trip. Verdict outbound and
waiting at DXB - even BA to Caribbean is better than this, at least they offer an affordable
premium economy.

Christchurch - Sydney on B777 in business class. Staff very nice but service was a little
lacking. I found the seat to be very uncomfortable - ICE entertainment system has a lot of
options available but my remote seemed to be some 20 seconds behind the main screen so i ended
up using the touch screen instead. Limo service excellent in Sydney.

BNE-DXB-LGW / MAN-DXB-BNE in economy class. Legroom was fine, it was the seat width that I
have issues with, the B777-300ER layout 3-4-3. Both flights to and from Brisbane transited
via Singapore - while many people see this as a pain, it was nice to get off and stretch your
legs. Ground handling at SIN could be a little better in regards to transit pax. Food on board
was good, and plenty of it. Also plenty of drinks etc. Blankets and pillows still standard.
All in all, a good series of flights, and value for the money.

LHR-DXB-BKK return. B777 LHR-DXB and legroom was awful, I had a window seat and felt very shut
in so to speak. We changed to the A380 for DXB-BKK and thought the leg room was much better.
Meals were ok, usual airline food.

AKL-SYD on A380. Seats good, IFE very good, food good. The check in was quite disorganised
with three flights scheduled so close to each other resulting in many passengers forming a
long line checking at the same time. FAs were performing their job adequately. However, it
feels like they are more focused on getting their duties taken care of on schedule than
looking after some of the passengers needs. A380 has nice leg room and few nice features that
go with the newest passenger aircraft.

NCL-DXB on A330, DXB-SYD-CHC on B777-300ER. Cabin staff attentive - a pity the Emirates
ground staff at Bangkok did not communicate as expected. Transit Business passengers were not
informed of the location of Business lounge - left to their own devices - pretty poor -
especially as most transit passengers had been flying for a total of more than 14 hours.

Dubai to Brisbane - Business Class. A very poor experience as a seat was not able to be
adjusted and no alternative was available. As this is a 13hour+ flight the decision to fly
Business Class was mainly made on the comfort offered by Business Class seats and as this
was not available it was a waste of money.

CMB-SIN-CMB Boeing 777-300ER on both legs. ICE system was excellent, crew friendly and
efficient. The meals were good (lunch served CMB-SIN, and a light meal on return flight).
Check-in was efficient and fast - didn't have a long queue at either CMB or SIN. The only set
back was that I didn't have a choice of meals on CMB-SIN leg because they had run out. Great
value for money and a pleasant experience.

Singapore-Dubai-London. Originally scheduled for a later flight from Singapore but that flight
was cancelled, thankfully Emirates' customer service rebooked me on an earlier flight out.
Generally good service throughout both legs of my journey, food good but what surprised me was
the lack of a lunch meal on Dubai-London (EK001). Only breakfast was served - a minor
disappointment.

MEL-DXB, DXB-CAI not connecting flights. We checked-in online and print our boarding passes -
yet we still got given new ones and pretty much had to re-check in. However check in at MEL
was quick. Flew the 14 hours on the A340-500, seat width adequate - just. ICE system was
great, although sometimes felt the touch screen was a bit off. Flight attendants were fine,
not great but never rude. Food great, lots of it! DXB-CAI, much the same, although the food
was better, and seats were smaller, but fine for a 4 hour flight.

Malta - Dubai - Malta. Two efficient flights, but no more. B777-300 on the way to Dubai, which
was better configured than A330 on journey home. ICE system on B777 very impressive, though
wife struggled with remote control. Excellent check-in at Malta and Dubai, priority baggage
that worked, excellent hot towels and generally friendly and efficient service. Against this
was very sub par food, a Limo driver in Dubai who had no clue where he was going, and the
tendency for the crew to disappear for long periods on the flight from Malta, with limited
water top-up. The seats in the B777 had a small drinks facility built into them.

Recently flew a mix of Business class and economy class on Emirates between India/Dubai and
the Maldives. I found Emirates Business class to be consistently average, at times the crew
looked bored, demoralised, even rude and dismissive - I found the crew on Business class to be
lacklustre. The same may not be said for economy though. The seats are tight, but service,
food and general product is good. The crew are more attentive - sometimes even courteous.
Emirates is value for money, but their expansion has diluted the personal touches though.
