Tel-Aviv-Newark (747-400). I flew El Al business class and found the experience to be cheap in quality
and very rough around the edges - not worth the price tag. Business class seat is old style and
manually operated while the aircraft interior is dated. Check-in, food and the overall service was
below average and airline personal rude with the exception of the lounge in (TLV) that was nicely
decorated and well stocked but over capacity. EL AL website is deceptive and does not offer its
business class passengers what it claims. If you are expecting comparable service to that offered by
British Airways, Lufthansa, Swiss, Continental, Virgin etc you will be disappointed with El Al
Business Class products.

HKG-TLV Economy Class. Seats and interior wre not cleaned properly. Due to cost cutting no longer
serve liquor in economy class. FA opened my overhead locker took my camera bag & small hand bag out &
dumped it roughly into another full overhead locker to make place for a large suitcase which should
have been checked in. When I told her she just ignored me & walked away. The meals served were good
and included fruit & veg. Overall I think due to cost cutting the standard of staff Service & the
cleanliness of the aircraft were inferior. Struggling to be a 3 star airline.

JFK-TLV (747-400) in Business Class - one of the worst experiences I have had as a premium class
passenger. Check-in at (JFK) was a nightmare and took over one hour with only I agent assigned to
handle all business class passengers in addition to ELAL elite members. Seats I reserved for both my
wife and I (10) days prior to departure were not honored while assigning seats not together. The
filthy business class lounge at JFK included stained carpet, sloppy and unhygienic food, no alcoholic
beverages and not enough seating to accommodate all of its business class passengers. After a 2 hour
delay we were permitted to board the aircraft fitted with old style business class seats that was not
properly cleaned. After take-off, business class passengers were served a Coach Style snack that
consisted of a small salad with Thousand Island Dressing and a pre packaged wrap consisting of either
Turkey or Pastrami. The meal was served on a pre arranged plastic tray without any special detail or
style. The beautiful pictures on the ELAL website looked nothing like what we were served. Breakfast
again was served on a pre-arranged tray and without table, cloths and or any special attention given
to the presentation of the meal. Moreover, EL-AL’s catering failed to provide enough meals to
accommodate its business class passengers therefore providing a very limited choice. Most disturbing
to me was that ELAL’s catering failed to stock the aircraft with a sufficient supply of bottled water
and Diet-Coke, beverages unavailable to business class passengers 3 hours prior to landing. Upon
voicing my complaint to the flight attendants servicing business class, they could not care less and
advised that catering was consistently problematic with ELAL and out of their control and that I
should write ELAL. My overall experience with ELAL was horrible and would not recommend this airline
to any person flying to Israel who wants good premium class service. There are a number of other
direct options to Israel such as Delta out of Atlanta and Continental out of Newark so if your are
looking for a decent Business class to Israel I would suggest one of those.

BKK-TLV return was horrible! Interrogated in Bangkok airport for being
Australian, and not told what was going on while everyone around me
spoke Hebrew. Finally on the plane which was small and cramped compared
to the Thai airways flight from Brisbane. No personal IFE apart from
music in every language but English, could not see the screens to watch
movies. Food was awful. Asked for a second pillow to get comfortable for
the 11hr journey but was never given one. All flight attendants spoke
English well but did not go out of their way to offer friendly service
if you didn't speak Hebrew. Hopefully won't have to go back, which is a
shame as Israel is a nice country to visit. 3 Star rating is very
generous!

FRA-TLV (737-800) and TLV-ORD (767-300) in economy with EL-AL. Service has become much better than in the past, much more
professional, efficient, and pleasant. The food is very good, and has a bit of an innovative style,
compared to the typical European airline. Both flight left on time, and the seats were OK, comparable to what they were on any of the typical
American or European airlines.

JFK-TLV numerous times in economy. El Al offers 747 and 777 service on
this route (mostly 747). I recommend checking for flights with 777
service because it is worth it - it is almost like being upgraded a
class - the 777 is more modern and comfortable. Both planes offer
Personal IFE but 777 is more modern and has slightly more selection.
Food quality can vary, I've had some excellent meals as well as some
average ones on El Al. FA's vary as well - some will bend over
backwards for you and some will act as if they are doing you a favor -
all depends on the flight. Free alcohol on JFK-TLV (as it should be)
but note FA's get quite weary after the second drink. For this route, I
would recommend El Al as I certainly plan on flying it again.

I have now flown 3 times TLV-BKK, both in business and economy. TLV is a
very efficient and pleasant airport, I am happy to take into
consideration and extra 45 minutes for good security procedures. King
David lounge is very good standard. Avoid economy class if you are over
180cm, and you can afford, I was not able to open my notebook, simply no
space. Food and staff OK. Business class has good reclining seats but
nut up to today's standard. Simply too old. Staff and food excellent.
Toilets dirty. In general much too costly for what you get. When do we
get some competition on the BKK-TLV route ?

JFK-TLV-JFK on a 747 both ways. We also got questioned and my wife's
Singapore passport seemed to puzzle them. We had to wait a few minutes
for them to "call Israel", but they cleared us and were apologetic and
very nice. The flight to TLV was good, seats comfortable. They served
dinner and breakfast, very small portions which were just ok. We did not
have a choice for breakfast. Not sure why they served breakfast getting
close to TLV when the local time was 2 PM. The only good thing was the
baskets of hot bagels and pita bread that were served with the meals.
They had PTV, but only six movies playing and it was the same selection
both directions. FAs on the JFK-TLV leg were surly and not helpful at
all. I asked for water once, and had a FA snap, "you'll have to wait".
TLV-JFK route FAs much better, smiling, friendly, making meal
suggestions, offering choices, even at breakfast. Flights were
comfortable, overall a good experience.

After flying Qantas to Hong Kong and El Al to Tel Aviv and having to
check in the luggage again at Hong Kong and interrogated for more than 3
hours despite being an Australian Citizen. I gave them up. I now fly
from Sydney with Emirates or Gulf Air to Amman and use the land
crossing. The flight time saved due to the fact that the flight paths
goes over Arab Countries (El Al goes around the Persian Gulf) make the
difference. I Will never fly EL Al again - security, by any means yes,
but humiliation and needless interrogation - never.

FCO-TLV-BKK El Al Economy Class. The service on EL AL has seen rapid
improvements since my last flight with them 10 months ago. Flight attendants on both flights were
extremely courteous and were willing to go out of their way to assist. Again the food was of
exceptional quality (and quantity) and the aircraft were clean and comfortable. The 777-200 flight
to Bangkok was however uncomfortable. The seat pitch felt minimal which made it very hard
to sleep on this 11 hour flight. Unfortunately when travelling to Israel from Australia and vice
versa, unless one wants to incur another 10 hours of travelling through Europe, the EL AL 777-200
services to Asia are the ONLY option. I really hope EL AL improve their seats on this aircraft to
the standard of the very room seats on the 737-700 such as the flight from Rome. I would still
recommend EL AL.

Tel Aviv Brussels Business Class. a new 737-800. The business cabin is
equipped with business class seats, with a large armrest, very
comfortable footrest and decent recline. The cabin staff was there to
ensure that passengers from economy did not store their mega-size hand
luggage in the business class lockers. We were offered a descriptive
menu and wine list. There was no champagne, but an extensive collection
of very tasty Israeli wine (Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet, desert wine).
The food was good and original: cured beef, chicken with sweet potato’s
and teriyaki sauce, good chocolate cake. Service was smiling and
efficient (although sometimes forgetful). We received a toiletries bag
and headphone. 2 recent movies were played. The toilet was kept clean
and refreshed.

FRA-TLV-HKG (and then connecting to Australia on Qantas) in economy, on
the 737-800 and 777-200 respectively. The EL AL service was indeed very
professional and friendly at all times. The food served on all flights
was also of exceptional quality featuring both Israeli and western
cuisine. FA's were all English speaking which made travel easy. I found
EL AL's aircraft to be very clean and comfortable. I would no hesitate
to fly EL AL again and would recommend them if flying to Israel.

Amsterdam-Tel Aviv-Elat in economy. We discovered that one of our
suitcases did not arrive at Elat airport. And many other passengers with
us. It took the ground attendant hours until she got the information of
all suitcases that were missing. How hard we tried to get some money to
buy underwear, a toothbrush etc, it did not help. "Come back next day
and we'll see". So we came back the next day, but as expected no
suitcase arrived. The ground attendant refused to give a penny for
toiletries. We gave up hope after visiting the airport four times. They
promised us to send the suitcase to our family in Haifa. It arrived
after one week and some luggage inside was also broken! El Al really
disappointed us and I will surely not forget the lack of service.

LHR to Tel Aviv return. Very pleasantly surprised! Security questions
lengthy and detailed - but pleased that they are. That's one reason why
I chose El Al because of their security measures. Flew business class
both ways. Very hospitable and I agree with the previous person who
said you would never go hungry on El Al! Food perfectly edible - I had
chicken as main course on both flights - they also offered beef and
fish. Volume on headphones unnecessarily loud and it was difficult to
reduce it! Films were okay. Staff very courteous and helpful. I was
very nervous when we experienced turbulence on the return journey and
the attendant was very kind to me and allayed my fears! I would
definitely fly El Al again.

Just returned from a flight Tel Aviv to JFK. El Al cancelled our flight
with only 4 days notice. They did not give us a choice of flights - and
caused us tremendous inconvenience. This seems to be a routine
occurence with El Al as they appear to do this if flights are not fully
booked. Subsequently the flight we went on was overbooked. The seat in
front of me was broken and went too far back. There was literally not
enough space to sit in. The flight attendants were very apologetic but
could not do anything as there was not even one available vacant seat.
They allowed me to stand most of the way. It was the worst flight of my
life. I do not think I would ever go on El Al again.

JFK-TLV-JFK Business Class Seats 74A-C both ways on Upper Deck.
Personnel at Airport Check-in friendly and helpful. On board flight
attendants were friendly and helpful. Seats comfortable, leg rests are
difficult to adjust. Why on outbound portion do they require shades to
be drawn? Into JFK were not requested to lower shades. The only problem
was the choice of entrees offered. Three JFK-TLV and two TLV-JFK. The
entrees were inedible, (fish/chicken) Breakfast, deserts other food
items were excellent. Bags were waiting after clearing Immigration at
both JFK and TLV, they do expedite baggage for Business Class
passengers. Haven't flown El Al transatlantic for many years but will
try them again. Have flown them many times between European cities and
TLV but have avoided them from JFK. Will now use them when traveling
non-stop to TLV.

Brussels-Tel Aviv business class. Boeing 737 with business rows equipped
with long haul style seats, providing very good comfort for this 4 hours
35 minutes trip. Flights attendants were attentive. Business class
passengers offered a pre-take off drink and after take off meal service
began with a drink offer and a large bags of cashews. I was surprised to
receive a nice comfort kit for a not so long flight. Menus were
distributed and offered 2 starters, a choice of 3 hot main courses, and
a desert. Of course I have to mention the long security checks at check
in but this is true for all flights to and from Israel.

I am a frequent El Al flyer. Have very few complaints about in-flight
service - food is decent to good even in Economy (I cannot afford to fly
business but got free upgrades a few times) and quite good in business.
You won't starve aboard an El Al flight. My one complaint is cramped
seating in economy - if you're tiny you do fine, but for a 6ft guy,
standard economy seating is rather uncomfortable, especially if you're a
little on the heavy side. My few flights in business class were the only
ones that allowed me to get significant work done in-flight, and still
not leave the plane tired. Never been too impressed by any airline's in-
flight entertainment (except perhaps Singapore Air, which I once had the
pleasure to fly), and El Al's is no exception. Sound quality of music
channels disgraceful. Occasionally on-board duty-free has some very good
deals. Pretty happy with their frequent flyer program: about 1 bonus
ticket per 4-5 flights.

LHR-Ovda- HR. Check in at LHR was easy, but understandably lots of
security questions. No problems. Flight out was okay with an older 757.
Comfy seats, plenty of legroom. Not impressed with the omelette at
breakfast, but the rest was okay. On the return journey the check in
security was awful and took ages. Flight was on time. FA's were polite
and helpful. Legroom good on return journey as well.

MUC-TLV. Security tight as usual but professional und polite, one of the
guys in Munich had also a great sense of humour, once I detected his
ionic scanner he told me with a smile that know he would have to keep me
there in custody. The 767 was a brand new plane, as we checked in very
early we got the emergency seats, legroom like first class. Friendly
staff, good food. In time like a Swiss clock. The new terminal in TLV is
not only pleasant to look at, it is also no big hassle to go through the
immigration. If you like it even better, hire one of the meet and greet
services (Seshir), they whisk you through immigration like a VIP guest
for a reasonable fee. Flying back it was an older 737 but still ok and
up to the minute. Upon leaving Ben Gurion the security is tough again
but also there they are quite efficient, splitting up the lines based on
destination and asking passengers while still in line. After all, this
was a very good experience.

LHR-TLV-LHR return Y class. Comforting security and excellent service
Courteous staff on board, surprisingly edible food, reasonable seat pitch (much
better than BA). It's good to see that El Al have not cut back to a no-frills
level of service like many US transatlantic carriers -- you don't have to pay for
wine with dinner. One caveat -- unlike flying to the USA, the airline does not
give out landing cards on board. Instead, you have to pick them up yourself in the
immigration hall. Much recommended, and the new terminal 3 at TLV is fantastic --
even with original ancient Roman/Byzantine mosaics as you approach passport
control. Free WiFi access in TLV airport is a great idea -- why isn't this
standard in other countries?

TLV - LHR on Sunday June 5 was operated by an antique 747 and it showed ! The crew in business class
were professional and caring. A 10.15 departure with 13.30 arrival in London (Tel Aviv time being

747s should be changed for either 777 or 747 400s.

We recently had the pleasure of making a trip to Israel on EL AL Israel Airlines from Los
Angeles to Tel Aviv and return. The planes (767s) were clean and well appointed. In-flight
entertainment was continuous, however the audio was noisy and there could have been more monitors
for better viewing.
We were treated with the utmost courtesy by the EL AL staff both on the ground and in the air at all
stops. We want to especially thank the passenger agents, and assistants at Tel Aviv for their prompt
attention to my wife's need for rest during the lengthy security checks prior to boarding.
Traveling in today's environment of terrorists threats to life and limb can be enervating for
everyone, but especially for seniors in their eighties as my wife and myself are The ground staff
were all cheerful and reassuring. We noted a genuine caring in their attitude to us. It was obvious
that your people are well trained for their jobs. This made our flights quite enjoyable.

As an Israeli citizen I'm embarrassed by the way foreign tourists are treated
when flying with El-Al or passing through our national airport in Tel-Aviv.
I have traveled with El Al very few times because they are simply lacking any basic idea of who
costumer service is.
Many times I have heard from friends who came to Israel about the awful and
embarassing interrogations , body and baggage checks that they have gone through. I myself have witnessed a few
times people who look totally harmless being interrogated in such rude manner that they have been
reduced to tears.
I know security is a big concern here but passing through Tel Aviv airport and witnessing this sort
of obnoxious treatment to passengers makes me feel very sad every time I go there.
As for El-Al , I think as they are tightening their security procedures they are losing their sense
of costumer service (which they always advertise as first in their lists), the FA's and security
man all behave like they have just got out of an Israeli boot camp (I have been there I know how it
is). I have seen so many times people being degraded by flight attendants and security people , it
just really made me feel ashamed that our national carrier is building itself such a bad reputation
around the world because of the rude staff.
I have stopped using El-Al for this reason exactly. I have seen tourists being treated as 2nd class
so many times I felt very sad for them.

TLV JFK Business 'Platinum' class.
I used to avoid El-Al because of their indifferent customer service and unreliable schedule. I
decided to give them another chance going to Israel from LA this past year. Flew Delta to NY,
transferred to EL-AL, cleared security with almost two hours to spare. Nice Cafe type lounge at
Kennedy. Airplane was squeaky clean. The staff introduced themselves by name. Both flights were
night flight, and the staff was able to be quite attentive to the passengers who were awake. A full
meal was served even though both departures were past midnight. Good amounts of healthy food. The
upper deck of the 747 was quiet.
My parents took the daytime TLV EWR flight on a 777 in January and had and equally positive
experience. Just give me a
comfortable seat, clean and well-maintained aircraft, reasonably nice crew and good amounts of
simple food and I'm fine.

JFK-TLV-JFK in both economy and business class this year. In economy, seating on 747’s was
tight and uncomfortable. Passengers often congregated in the aisles, requiring numerous requests
from staff to go keep them clear. There was not enough overhead storage, as the 1-item per person
was not enforced. I had no issues with the security questioning before boarding. In-seat video
options were fair. Audio selections were much better. Food was fine, but not special. Both
flights were on time.
Business class, of course, was much better. JFK-TLV was on a new 777. Service was attentive, but
somewhat indifferent. I never felt any extra care was taken to make the trip enjoyable. Seats were
brand new and full of functions, but did not recline 180 degrees. Lots of reading material. The
return flight was on the upper deck of a 747. The flight attendants were much more professional and
courteous. The food was excellent. It was like a whole different airline. I can happily recommend
ELAL’s business class without hesitation. I recommend economy as the fastest and safest way to fly
to TLV from New York.

El Al airplanes are quite comfortable, and seat pitch is better than with many European or American
Airlines using very narrow 'modern' equipment. On the other hand, El Al's food is by and large
unacceptable, so one needs to eat before the flight or bring one's own food additions. Similarly,
the service is unfriendly and very inflexible, catering to the one who is shouting the loudest. They
also charge for any excess luggage which is not my experience with American or European competitors.
Finally, while security is fortunately thorough, the safety inspection personnel severely
discriminates based on ethnic factors bordering harassment.

I recently had the pleasure of flying JFK-TLV-HKG-TLV-JFK on EL AL in their Platinum Class.
I was very impressed with the overall service. The food was great (less so HKG-TLV), the seat were
spacious, and the service was impeccable. On all the legs except last leg flew on 777, and on last
TLV-JFK flew 744 in the upper deck. I fly with EL AL often and have noticed a big change in
overall service with each each year it gets better. Considering all that, and the good deal i got I
see no reason to fly any other airline.

Just got back from a trip to Bangkok using El Al (LHR-TLV-BKK) on an interline ticket (hence the
route!) and was pleasantly surprised. Apart from the horrendous "interrogation" of any non-Israeli
passport holders the experience was relatively painless. Outbound both sectors was on the 777 - very
spacious and clean with good IFE (seat-back screens). No problems with our baggage - everything
arrived in BKK in one piece. The food is good and the portions are very generous. On the way back we
were in an old 747 from BKK-TLV but again the interior was clean and the staff friendly (with a
couple of exceptions). The final leg was on an old 767 with appalling IFE and it seemed like a much
smaller seat pitch. After reading some of the reports I was expecting the worse but in all was
impressed by the standards.

Recently flew Hong Kong to Tel Aviv Economy - and Tel Aviv to Bangkok Business on El Al. In economy, meals were good, attendants good but the seating was third rate in terms of pitch and width
(especially width) compared to other airlines. I'm not sure if that was because of EL Al's design,
or because seats on 777s are always narrower on 777 vs 747s. In
addition, I was in the back row of economy class. The seats backed onto a toilet and the layout was
such that they could recline. That is pretty hopeless - I can't believe El Al could come up with
such a layout.
On the return flight to Asia, I was in business in an older 767. The business seating was,
naturally, more spacious than economy. Not the most comfortable business seat compared with other
airlines I have experienced ( QF, BA, SQ) but adequate. Again, food and service was as good as
anyone else's, if not better. I did go for a walk down the back and noticed that on the 767 also,
economy seats back onto a toilet, prohibiting reclining.
Overall, experience from both classes suggest El AL is up there on food and service (and naturally
security after 2 hour questioning prior to departure) but needs to rethink its
seating.

I am a Canadian citizen who flew El Al this past October to my peril. I was searched for over 2
hours in Toronto Airport, in a locked room, even though I am born Canadian and cooperated fully and
honestly with them. El Al security took everything out of my suitcase and carry on and placed them
in bins for X-ray. No one answered me when I asked why they thought I was suspicious. After this,
they told me I had ten minutes to re-pack before my plane left.
Then when I checked in for my return flight, I was searched again, which I expected. Again I
answered their questions, assisted them in the belongings search, as before. This time, the security
rep took my suitcase to the check-in counter, processed it for loading and gave me my boarding pass.
They wanted to keep my carry-on until boarding time, which I had no problem with. But when it came
time to get on the flight, I presented my boarding pass, passport and ticket and then was taken
first into a hallway, body searched again, then taken into a locked room and searched a third time.
It didn't seem to matter that I had already been cleared.
I understand that security measures are more important and thorough than ever, and must be, given
the times, but come on! Interesting footnote: I just read El Al's baggage security policy, written by their Head Security
Advisor, which states that they "scrutinize their passenger names, before their arrival at the
airport. We then divide them into low risk, medium risk and high risk categories, based on race and
ethnicity. Those with high risk classifications are automatically taken into a room for body and
baggage checks and lengthy interrogations.' I guess their target that week was a blond, blue eyed,
born and very average Canadian citizen, with absolutely no 'past' or connection to anything
suspicious.

I was surprised to hear that El Al cut a code sharing deal with Air Canada on your web site. It
means that there are only 2 airlines that fly directly from N. America to Tel-Aviv that do not
cooperate through code sharing El Al & Continental. And the result is higher ticket prices. Today if
one wants to fly to TLV from Chicago, the lowest ticket is around $800-900, where 2-3 years ago it
would be $600. And if you want to fly El AL you'll pay even more, and many people are willing to do
so, because it is perceived by many people as one of the safest airlines in the world. However why
pay more for an El Al ticket if the flight is operated by Air Canada, Swiss, Iberia, Austrian
Airlines and I am sure I forgot airlines that El Al has code sharing with. El Al became one of the
biggest ticket agencies in the world. They wouldn't fly you they would just sell you a seat on
another's airline flight.
The Israeli ministry of transportation should allow another Israeli carrier (Arkia or Israir) to
operate direct flights between JFK and TLV, and believe me the prices will be much lower, and in
that sense break El-Al's monopoly on flights to N. America.

El Al
doesn't care about customer care. The service is very bad, rude hostesses, old seats. On the other
