Flight attendants not friendly, crew was smoking onboard aircraft, food the worst ever on an airline. The bathrooms were cleaned during flight, which was a plus. A very old, out of date plane, movie screens located on the ceiling throughout the plane, most didn't have a picture a good part of the time while others were working fine. We had to get up and go find the galley to get a glass of water. We flew round trip NY to Cairo, plus Cairo to Aswan, Luxor to Cairo. Conditions were more bearable on the short flights but unbearable on the long ones.

CAI-LHR Economy - we were allocated seats 22B and 25C, when have preferences down for Window seat. Not the only couples split up when no need whatsoever from what we can see. Everyone moving seats after take off. An old B777-200, nNo seat back screens and poor quality on the overhead screens. As it was a 0930 departure with 0730 check-in I checked what meals were provided and told breakfast snack and hot lunch. I am diabetic and ordered diabetic food. Breakfast snack was sweet croissant and sugary madeira cake. Hot lunch I got a diabetic meal that came with chocolates - should not be in a diabetic meal. Seats had lots of legroom in economy, however they were uncomfortable for a 5 hour flight.

London - Cairo - Khartoum return. London to Cairo was on a B777 but broken seats and no screens on each seat for a 4hr 40min flight is just poor. By the time the stewardess got to our seats to serve food, one of the options finished so just placed trays of food in front of us without us knowing what we were about to eat. When the staff seemed not so busy, I asked for a pillow but my request was ignored. The stopover in Cairo was about 5 hours long during which no meal/drinks vouchers were offered. Cairo airport T3 looked nice and clean but was crowded. The flight to Khartoum was an Airbus A340, an aircraft that was no better than their B777. The aircraft was cold and after a few passengers asked for blankets, they eventually ran out of blankets as they don't carry enough for each passenger. Flight was delayed for one hour and no explanation given. The return flight, 2 months later was not a better a journey. The check in at the airport took about an hour as the Egyptair staff only had a sheet of paper with all the passengers name to check bookings as if they had a problem with their computer booking system. Boarding passes were only issued to the first flight KRT-CAI so had to queue in Cairo for 20 minutes to be issued boarding passes to London. My request for a window seat was not granted. The poor service, no entertainment and no comfort was definitely not worth the £403 paid. I don't understand how Egyptair is classified as a 3-star airline because I have experienced much better services at other 3-star airlines.

We flew to Johannesburg from London via Cairo. Bags arrived intact with no problems encountered. Check in staff were friendly and once requested we were given bulkhead seats for both legs. Boarding passes issued for both legs so we did not have to queue in Cairo. One note though, you can take alcohol through Cairo to South Africa even if the duty free in London says otherwise. We regretfully only took one bottle as we were advised not to take any but the Egyptians checked the sealed bag and were happy, there's a duty free in Cairo. The terminal in Cairo is all new and very comfortable but take a jumper, the air con gets a bit chilly. The wait ends up being about 3 hours once all the walking is discounted. The planes are fairly old but service is helpful. I will be travelling again as they really do get value for money.

Cairo-Larnaca-Cairo in economy. Again, still having to take a bus from their new Terminal 3. They have a new business lounge open that I didn't get to see this time. The first temporary one in the new terminal was grim. Flights were fairly close to scheduled departure time. I actually got miles for the flights but am waiting for miles from a flight I took to Frankfurt in July with repeated email requests and filling out their web form without result (despite my frequent flyer number even on the boarding pass and the other 3 segments of my flight credited properly). As is expected the interior of the aircraft was not in great shape and the seats were pretty close together - but for an hour flight not that big a deal.

Milan to Cairo to Luxor and Aswan to Cairo. The aircraft seemed to be in good repair and the crew were friendly and courteous. It was somewhat disconcerting that most passengers cheered out loud when the wheels touched the runway upon landing (as if it was an unexpected occurance), otherwise the flights were pleasant and enjoyable.

I traveled on Egypt Air for 3 sectors - JNB-CAI & then 2 domestic sectors LUX-CAI-HGD. My appalling experience on the internal domestic sectors was so extensive and so drawn out that its too long list. To cut it short the experience we received on the ground due to delays, misconnections and no communication (ie. delayed flights and screens were not even updated) was so incompetent that it far outweighed the good service we received in the air which is an incredible shame. Their customer service on the ground is just so poor and does not do the inflight service any justice! If they can get their act together on the ground, both airport and sales offices then I feel Egypt Air could be a great asset to a great country!

I travelled on business trip on EgyptAir to Cairo and Casablanca from Johannesburg recently. The business class service is sub-standard with no service between meals. They seem overstaffed but pretty lazy. The staff at the EgyptAir office in Johannesburg were blatantly rude to my wife and have no idea of the concept of customer service. I have to travel to Egypt regularly and enjoy the country and people - but the national carrier is a disgrace to the good people of Egypt.

Frankfurt - Cairo - Khartoum. First flight a B737 with winglets, new paint scheme - also explains the modernised inflight entertainment system. Cairo - Khartoum on A330. Food was average. Lazy and slow flight attendants. serving the passengers took long time so that the crew only darkened the cabin prior to descending - and this was a night flight.
