There are recurrent problems to be aware of - having to take a bus to/from the aircraft even
with unused gates at the new terminal. New terminal 3 business class lounges are not up to
speed, Egyptair aircraft are older and showing their age. Frequently the flight is late
departing. Cairo to Istanbul this week and 90 minute delay due to late arriving passengers
from another plane. On return last night horrendous lines at immigration. The business class
line had green coated individuals go to the front of the line carrying stacks of 5-10
passports which caused long delays and an angry exchange between passengers and immigration
officials. The health screening on arrival to Cairo is poorly done with mobs of people
fighting over the table with the health forms you have to fill out and turn in before being
checked for fever with the cameras. Egyptair hands out the immigration forms but not the
health forms so you get bottlenecked fighting for the health forms. Food on Egyptair flights
isn't bad and legroom is ok. Inflight entertainment system is average to poor or non-
existent. Staff and crew fairly friendly although they don't give you information when there
are delays or problems. Last point - they will advertise on the flight information boards at
the new terminal that the gate is open but when you arrive it is closed and groups of people
mob up in the hallways. The excuse is always 'we are waiting for the police'. Be aware
frequently you don't get credited your miles with their frequent flyer program even if you
have an eticket with your frequent flyer number on it and you have to retroactively claim
credit so hold on to ticket stubs.

Cairo_Riyadh on an A340. There is no entertainment in the airplane so I if the flight is more
than 2 hours you'll be bored. Staff are hospitable and the cabin is comfortable.

Cairo - Luxor return Economy. Both trips right on time. Leg room good. Service basic, a warm
soft drink, but it is only an hour. Nobody overly friendly, but who cares. Typical shuttle
service. Modern clean departure facilities. Difficult to get a taxi at Cairo. Hate the shuttle
bus arrangement out to the plane on the Tarmac, when we could see many empty gates at the terminals.

There was no problem with safety, but the review of physical conditions were mixed at best.
JFK to Cairo the plane was clean. We were fed typical airline food, but not bad. New movies
available. Economy class had adequate leg room. Each passanger received a small zippered
pouch that contained head sets, sleep mask, small tooth brush and paste, and socks. The crew
was available and very pleasant.

My wife and I had the most horrible experience with Egypt Air. The flight was delayed by 12
hours, no updates were given, food was very simple and it was an experience which we would not
want anybody else to go through. We saved £200 travelling with Egypt Air but our holiday was
ruined.

LHR-CAI-JNB-CAI-LHR. The flights to and from Cairo were on 777s. Both legs were quite full,
especially the return. The flight to Johannesburg was boarded on time (after a 4hr 55 mins
stopover) until there was a major shuddering and jerking just before the doors were closed. It
felt as if the aircraft had been hit by a ground vehicle although the crew never twitched.
While we waited, we were given local newspapers and a drink. It did not take too long before
the buses arrived to return us to the terminal where we were given more drinks and a snack. As
seems to be the case in most, if not all, delays, there was hardly any information available
but we were at least allowed to leave the gate area to walk around the terminal, go to the
toilet, etc. Once the replacement aircraft (A340) had been prepared, we were bussed off and on
our way. The return from JNB (A330) was on time. The crew, while not particularly cheerful on
any of the flights were efficient and saw to needs including regular walks up and down the
aisles overnight with water and juice. If you want an alcoholic drink, take a couple of
miniatures and top up your coke or whatever. Just keep it unobtrusive. I actually enjoyed the
food on all 4 flights. As for the legroom, a 33 inch pitch is at least 2 inches more than you
would get in economy in most carriers. The interiors on all the aircraft are very tired and
shabby with my armrest falling apart on one flight. Entertainment is on a par with what was
the norm back in the 80's. Toilets were kept clean and stocked.

Johannesburg-Cairo-Amsterdam in Business class. Egyptair is the cheapest airline for business
class and I was happy I had found a ticket one-way for a bit more than economy on other
airlines. A330 was good, good legroom, good recline, poor meals, not very great entertainment.
They give you just an earphone to put in your ears and mine always keep falling out of my ear
so I regretted very much not having my own headphone in my cabin luggage. I had to keep a hand
pressed to my ear all the time to hear something. No alcohol served and beer without alcohol.
Same in Cairo's Business class lounges - food nothing great there. Cairo transfer was total
chaos. There was a bus for Business class passengers but when I wanted to get in the door was
closed and I had to go with all the economy class from plane to terminal. First we had to go
to one terminal, then to another one, where there was just one security gate for the huge
crowd of people. Cairo is a bad airport, there's not even any selection of nice books about
Egypt in the shops, as I had expected. Flight to Amsterdam in A320 with just 2 seats on each
side in Business class and plenty of space. Food again nothing special and no inflight
entertainment for the 5 hours. But worth repeating for the low price but just in Business
class. Economy has no personal TV screens and very little space.

I traveled Egyptair from Cairo. The cabin temperature in the coach class area was 25 degrees
Celsius. When I complained, I was told no one else had complained so they could not lower the
temperature. But when I went up toward first and business class, the cabin was very much
cooler! The bathrooms in coach were not very clean at the beginning of the flight (some did
not have any hand soap or paper towels). So you can imagine what they looked like after more
than 10 hours of flight. The cabin attendants never answered my call button - they were all in
the galley area which was only about 5 rows from my seat. They did not offer water or
beverages during the flight. After I complained, the steward brought me a huge bottle of water
and two glasses. As if to say - here, now leave me alone!

LHR-CAI-BOM-KU return Business class. Many comments refer to dated 777 cabin which is true,
but it is acceptable. A330 for the onward flights had better seating, both in terms of
legroom and recline, leg support, foot rest. Allowed for comfortable sleep - was glad I'd
taken my own travel blanket! I found the food good - choice of 3 main meals brought round on
trolley. Service was friendly and efficient - of course better on some legs than others but
good overall. Was pleasantly surprised and offered excellent value for money. This is a 3
star airline at 3 star prices.

LHR-CAI-LHR April 2009. Check in very quick, no queue at LHR. Ancient 777 plane, good legroom
but no seatback tv screen or choice of entertainment. Obscure films shown on both outbound and
inbound flights. Safety film hilarious. The cabin crew on the outbound flight were very
miserable, no choice of menu, we were served fish that was so overcooked it was just mush. No
alcohol and soft drinks limited to 2 during the 5 hr flight. Inbound slightly better although
food still very overcooked and tasteless. No packs for the kids. Flights punctual but an
ordeal. Could do much better.

Business Class DOH-CAI-HRG 9 April 2009 Airbus A340-200, really old style seats and the IFE
was useless on the first leg. The food was very simple and lacked flavour, but the flight
attendants were very attentive and helpful. The second leg of the journey was on an Embraer
170, much newer aircraft and good seats the service was just as good. I hope EgyptAir improves
their service quickly, I am willing to give them one more chance.
