HKG - PVG Economy. Travelling with Dragonair is like stepping back ten
years in time - and thats meant as a great compliment. Free newspaper,
meal and drinks and excellent service from the FAs. Limited IFE
(screens in the ceiling) but thats not really a problem on a 2.5 flight.
The downside is the price which is also a bit like going back in time.

Flew Economy on an Airbus 330-300 from HKG to PVG. Was ticketed for the
1:00 pm flight but asked if I would be willing to take the 12:00 noon
flight instead. Agreed to this and made the flight, although this made
me feel a bit hurried through the security process. Very nice experience
all the way around with efficient check in, very comfortable seats, good
food and great service. Recommend highly.

HKG to Nanjing A330 - Shanghai to HKG A321. Both business class and
totally different experiences. Check-in in HK was smooth and hassle
free. The Dragonairlounge is very good, comfortable with expansive views
across the airport runways etc. The flight from Hong Kong to Nanjing was
superb. New A330 aircraft with comfortable lie flat seats. Inflight
service was exceptional in all aspects and all this for a 3 hour flight!
The flight Shanghai Pudong to Hong Kong was terrible but not for any
fault of Dragonair. At check-in I was asked if I would like to catch an
early flight. I enthusiastically said yes. Had no time to wait in the
lounge so went straight to the gate. Boarding was delayed by 30 minutes.
Bus to aircraft. Boarded and waited for take off! There we sat for 3.5
hours! No aircraft in or out of Shanghai Pudong airport for 3.5 hours
due to as I found out later for a security exercise? We were given a
food box of nibbles and drinks if needed during the wait. The FA's were
great and sympathetic. Some passengers were obviously panicking about
connections. The FA's were doing their best to relay information, but
all of this was outside of their control. When we did take off the in
flight service was as expected superb and attentive. Hong Kong is a
great hub to start from and Dragonair is a great choice when connecting
for flights into China. A very good airline.

Recently flew from Hong Kong to Taipei and back as well as HK to
Shanghai. Service good as usual. The planes (seems they only have
Airbus) and toilets are clean. The flight is 2 hour to Shanghai and
Taipei. I was upgraded twice to business class in the past and the
legroom was great. The only downside is the price, it is the most
expensive airline to fly to Shanghai from HK.

Chongqing-Hong Kong-Taipei. Economy Class. First time on Dragonair and
we were impressed. Spacious, new A330 aircraft, on-time departures,
professional, friendly cabin crew. Food was simple Chinese-style fare
but tasty and fresh. Coffee was exceptionally good. We will fly this
airline again.

Round trip from Tokyo NRT to Hong Kong, Y class. Check in at NRT,
operated by NH, was quite smooth and efficient. Boarding gate was one of
the farthest at NRT's new Terminal One, we had to run to the gate.
We like A330 because of its seat plan, two seats between window and
aisle on Y class. On outbound trip, there was no PTV screens, main
screen was too small. Inflight magazine was nice enough for a four-hour
flight. (We saw private screens on inbound trip) Meal lacked quantity,
but we liked finishing with Haagen Dazs and Chinese tea. Crew was always
kind and smiling, but seemed a bit too busy. It was even worse blankets
weren't provided on inbound trip. Air-con doesn't provide humidity.

I flew in business class from HKG to Tokyo – new A320. Excellent
service. My connection flight to HKG was delayed in 15 min but Dragonair
flight did not take off until me and another passenger arrived. Seats,
food and crew were very good. Preferred airline (much better than Cathay
Pacific) to use from HKG to Taiwan Japan and inside China.

Shanghai to Hong-Kong and find them better than lots of others airlines
(Delta, American Airlines, Alitalia) on long haul flights. At the Pudong
Airport of Shaghai check-in and boarding were very quick and organized.
The aircraft was an Airbus A 330 with comfortable facilities: in economy
seats had a good leg-room, and all pasengers had pilows, blankets and a
bottle of water. A correct in-flight entertainement was available on a
main screen. After take of a good lunch with two choices of main course
was served by the excelent cabin crew (very profesional and smiling).

HKG-Nanjing. Flight on A320 in Business Class. Flight left 55 minutes
late. Seats okay, food okay, FA's very good. Entertainment was
disappointing but for 2.5hr flight I was not too bothered. Overall not a
bad experience and for me Dragonair is still the airline to fly with if
you are using HKG as a hub for China.

HKG to PVG Shanghai. This was only a 2 hour flight on a newish A320. The
crew were helpful and efficient. The food was unremarkable. The toilets
were kept clean. Seat pitch and comfort adequate for a short flight. The
IFE system was a primitive pop-down screen and appeared to show nothing
but advertising, mostly in Chinese. There were no audio channels. The
inflight magazine appears to promise a large variety of English and
Mandarin/Cantonese content for this flight, but none were available. The
overall experience was adequate for such a short flight. The flight is
however quite expensive and you expect more for the amount paid.

Round Trip between HKG and Xian, both with a new A320. Excellent seat
with a good pitch(Y class). Hot good were served and taste good. So
disappointed with the entertainment (no TV, Audio channels but only
magazines) The FA's were great.

HKG to PVG, Business Class. Overall a very pleasurable experience with a
friendly crew, excellent food and lots of space on the A330-300.
Dragonair are under pressure from China Eastern, when it comes to price
on this route, but they are still the clear winner. Dragonair lounge in
HKG is very comfortable, if a little "spartan". Was surprised to be
bussed to aircraft at HKG but all in all a very nice journey throughout.
Thoroughly recommend.

PVG-HKG Business Class Check in was reasonably efficient, but boarding
was completely messed up. There was a gate change about which there was
no announcement, long queues at gate - boarding without any priority to
Business Class passengers. OK inflight service. Much inferior to Cathay
Pacific overall. I hope CX gets permission to fly this route soon.

I also have now experienced an excellent flight with Dragonair. I
recently flew HKG-PEK-HKG (with further connections to and from
Australia on Cathay Pacific). The check-in in Hong Kong was through
their excellent Kowloon Station check-in facility while in Beijing
through normal procedures. Even though I arrived a little too early for
check-in in Beijing a very courteous Dragonair staff member facilitated
my check-in when it was appropriate to do so. Inflight service, as
stated regularly in these columns, was very good with the extra
attention to detail we weary travellers so thankfully need. This
occurred despite the fact the aircraft on the return leg (KA901) was
full of Chinese holiday makers, possibly on their first ever flight. If
you are flying to China, especially via Hong Kong, then do not think
twice about flying Dragonair.

I've flown a few times between PVG and HKG, always in economy and both
on Dragonair and China Eastern. I must say Dragonair outperforms China
Eastern every time. Cabin crew are extremely friendly (they know how to
put a smile on their faces) and the food's better as well. However,
Dragonair is more expensive than China Eastern but it is well worth it.
It should be compulsory for Chinese FAs to take a Dragonair flight and
watch how it's done. It's the small things like a smile that we
remember.

HKG-PVG First Class. The transfer in HKG is always a nice and swift. The
Dragonair Lounge is nice, since it is very open and you can watch the
people at the check in gates below. Arriving from SFO, showers would be
welcomed at this lounge. The boarding was a bit delayed and so was the
take-off. The flight attendants very nice and a good breakfast was
served. With the choice between western and chinese food, I opted for
the very tasty chinese dishes. The aircraft was a Airbus 330 with the
new seats, lie-flat style. They are similar to long-haul business class
seats and, in my view, share some of the problems, as I can compare to
the Swiss business class seat. The cushions are on the hard side when
sitting and lounging. The lie-flat option for a 2 hours flight is not so
important. I must say that I preferred the old 1st class seats, they
were more comfortable to me.

PVG-HKG, Economy Class. Due to the high number of frequencies on that route, there is a whole check-
in row dedicated to KA at Pudong Airport. Check-in smooth and fast, no waiting and polite staff.
Boarding on time. I was at once impressed by the aircraft, an A330, apparently brand new. We even
had personal IFE screens, quite surprising for such a short flight (less than 2 hours)! Slight delay
because of air traffic congestion, I read after that it's usual in China, maybe because of the
increasing number of flights? We were served a hot meal. As I was hungry, I even got a second one!
Such service doesn't exist anymore in Europe (even less in the US). Great crew, young and elegant
flight attendants, very nice and polite.

KA 808 HKG-PVG in February, Y class. Convenient flight. FA´s very responsive to PAX. FA came
immediately seconds after my request. Warm meal on the flight. (1 h 40 min.) Would also like to
speak out my respect to the British captain, who has flown the plane on that stormy and rainy
evening. Very gently and comfortable for the passengers.

Nice Flight. I flew from HKG to PVG last summer, and was surprised at how nice the service was in
business class. Seats are a little disapointing for International travel, they beat
anything that US airlines use for comparative length domestic seats. Food was good, but the best
was that the flight attendants noticed how much my girlfriend and I liked the free
champagne, and just left us the bottle!

Flew to Xiamen, Kota Kinabulu and Shanghai (from Hong Kong--all Y class) in Dec. 2004. The flights
were punctual, and the cabin crew were professional and courteous---as always. Hot meals were served
on each (short) flight, but the food is of "general airline quality". Still quite satisfied with DA,
considering that most airlines in North America only offer peanuts and pop for flights less than 3-4
hours. I've flown on Dragonair many times, and would definiately fly with them again.

Hong Kong-Haikou (Hainan Island) sector; Economy. Short journey of about 1hr. Plane used on
both sectors were Airbus 320s. Service was alright; nothing
to fault, though the return journey was better as the stewardesses smiled more. As the journey was
short, there was no inflight entertainment. A simple snack was served with drinks. Took a while to
locate the check-in counters for KA in Haikou's Meilan Airport though - tucked away in an
inconspicuous corner which was actually the de-facto "International Terminal".

KA430 flight in the evening on 4th December from Hong Kong to Kaohsiung,Taiwan, Republic of

which are my points for choosing KA. Would fly Dragonair again next time!

Business Class From Bangkok to Hong-Kong. The check-in staff was miserable (TG ground
handling) and slow. It took about 30 minutes to check-in. The seat was okay but got minimal recline and pitch. It was not comfy and there
was no in-flight entertainment provided on this flight. The crew understand minimal
English as I tried to request a pillow but, she brought me a bottle of water.

Flew Dragon Air from Hong Kong to Changsha. The flight was overbooked
and it appeared that the check in counter staff, although helpful was,
harried and in the ensuing chaos we managed to get upgraded just 20
minutes before the flight was due to take-off. We were not able to check
in Luggage and would have appreciated assistance in clearing immigration
and customs as there was massive queues. HKIA terminals are long and it
was a real chore trying to get to the gate. Flight itself was good.

KA360 flight from Hong Kong to Tokyo on 13 October and the KA361 flight back on 17 October.
In-flight services were average. Breakfast (bacon + baked beans + egg) was great, but dinner
(chicken rice in Japanese style sauce) was just okay and there was no ice-cream served afterwards.
Aircrafts were small, which made me feel a bit uncomfortable because I am a tall guy in muscular
body shape, although I was given a window seat (43K and 45K) in both journeys. Flight Attendants'
services were responsive, efficient, polite and nice. It would be much better if spacious larger
aircrafts could be used to carry air passengers.

I flew Dragonair from Phuket to HK many times, on an almost four hour route - every time has been
in business class, and has been very enjoyable. Whilst the food is not amazing (think
middling Chinese food for white people), the IFE is good, and in both English and
Cantonese. The seats are very nice and comfortable, the FAs are very helpful.

I am tall (6'4") and outraged at the size of Dragonair's economy seating in their airbus between HK
and Shanghai. The seat pitch is absolutely minimal (31") but the main problem is the height of the
backrest, which is considerably shorter than other airlines I have flown (Dragonair will not release
information about the height). No matter how much I squished down in my seat, there was no support
for my head, so I was unable to rest it. This was extremely uncomfortable, I got off the plane in
pain and absolutely exhausted.

I flew from Hong Kong to Tokyo and back by Dragonair in mid-July (economy class). Their meals are

was the wide range of Haagen-Daz ice-cream being served after the meal!

HKG to PVG with Dragonair in J class. Crew were excellent, calling all passengers by name
without the use of a cheat-sheet. Food was reasonable. Champagne was served throughout the flight.
Nothing seemed too much trouble. Legroom in J was good, although seats seemed a little old, not
quite Cathay standard.

I flew from HKG-PEK on 8 Feb and had a great flight. Top crew, good exceptional (first class),
great entertainment.
On return, no entertainment despite the fact that this was a 3 hour flight. The lounge at PEK
leaves a lot to be desired (it is absolutely dreadful - I am shocked that this airline does not have
it's own lounge) but the crew are so exceptional it makes up for all the other faults. The
passenger over the aisle fell asleep, the covered him up as if he was a baby, and then turned all
the overhead lights off so as not to disturb his sleep. He probably never knew! I thought they
were fab!

My first time to fly with Dragonair KA990 and KA991 flights between Hong Kong and Beijing was very
satisfactory indeed. I found the inflight services efficient and sincere, and the flight attendants
responsive to my needs. Although the aircraft was small and the facilities may not be comparable
with those of 747, I found them adequate already during the 2-3 hour' flights. Next time I will
certainly choose KA again because other alternatives seem not being able to catch up with the KA
services at this moment. One more point, I found KA's ground enquiry hotline very efficient, and I
didn't need to wait longer than 3 minutes for tele-conversation. That's great to experience!

Recently flew between HKG and PVG on Y Class. What amazed me was the very
attentive and
professional services by the cabin crew - the seats were reasonably comfortable and
had a good and tasty hotel-quality breakfast. Yes, I must admit that what I experienced were quite
beyond my expectations. (although one major shortfall was that there weren't any PTV systems on
the Y-class). Nevertheless, I will definitely fly KA again, and I am quite anxious to wish them well
as they expand and take on competing with the regional giants like Cathay Pacific.

I recently went to Zhejiang Province with a tour group, and our airline was Dragonair. I had heard
good things about Dragonair from family and friends, and it was my turn to experience it myself. I
wasn't disappointed.
First, we flew from Hong Kong to Hangzhou on an A-320. It was a narrow body aircraft, but since our
flight lasted less than two hours, it was not a problem. The food was actually very edible (genuine
pork roast instead of mystery meat), and reading materials were open for the taking.
We flew from Ningbo to Hong Kong on the return flight, also on an A-320. Food and service were
good, although the tour group had eaten not too long before takeoff. I noticed that Dragonair, like
every other airline, was still using metal forks (with plastic knives) in the aftermath of 09/11, so
I inquired by customer comment form on why this was so. Although I still have qualms about the
justification for using metal forks, I was satisfied with the fact that Dragonair responded
promptly.
I would consider Dragonair first the next time I fly into China.

I flew in Business Class on a Dragonair A320-200 from Hong Kong To Shanghai Hongqiao on March 21. At
check-in they were about to put me on the nine o'clock flight on an A330 which would have delighted
me but I had to wait for someone in the lounge. Dragonair operates seven daily flights between Hong
Kong and Shanghai, 6 of them on A330's and 1 on an A320. The seat was fairly good for the 2 hour hop
to SHA. The thing that most upset me on the A320 was the lack of legroom. The seat pitch
was not
have much more than 39 inches. But with only three rows in J class, the service made up for it.
I am also used to AC A320's which offer inflight video and audio, but on the KA flight, there was
none . The seat reclined quite decently for a narrowbody, and the food was above industry
average. The lounge facilities were unfortunately located miles from our departure gate 31, but
thanks to the moving walk ways at HKG, it didn't take us too long.
