BUE-ATL-BUE. Chaotic boarding, terrible food even an international economy, no IFE, just main screens, no music channels on the return flight. Certainly not value for money. ATL-LGA-ATL legs okay except boarding is chaotic, passengers carry on more luggage than allowed so not enough bin space for everyone.

On arriving at Schipol airport on a KLM flight, our next flight to Detroit was on a Delta flight. We checked in and were told that the plane was over-booked and that we were on standby. I pointed out to the Delta staff that we had booked and paid for our flight 6 months previously and that we expected to get on the plane. We were told that our booking ( and payment ) was irrelevant and we would simply have to wait to see if there would be room on the flight. We were dismissed to a waiting area and eventually summoned when everyone else had boarded and informed that we would be permitted to get on the plane. To say that my wife and myself were not impressed is a considerable understatement. Why KLM associate themselves with Delta is beyond me. It perhaps would not be so bad if we did not then repeat the experience exactly when returning from Atlanta to Schipol.

LGA-IAD-LGA on Delta Connection. The experience was rather different from flying with other airlines. The staff encountered was in general friendly but not always professional. LGA airport is terrible though and needs either expansion or less flights as all flights seem to be delayed from this airport. Also a lot of processes like baggage delivery, boarding etc. are not handled professionally. On board the service is friendly but not as refined as with other airlines. We were delayed both times but with the generous padding arrived roughly on time. It was ok for the price paid and DL met our needs for this trip.

How does Delta get away with providing such poor customer service? Their red-eye Seattle-JFK flight was one of the most uncomfortable trips of my life (and I fly often). After stepping off an Alaska Airlines flight, I was not accustomed to Delta's rock-like seats that lack padding and the hot cabin temperature. There was no food offered on the long trans-continental flight (not even for sale). After their initial one drink service, the surly flight attendants hid in the back (behind a curtain) and chatted for the entire, long night. I couldn't believe that they didn't even make one additional water run all night. I felt like a piece of cargo being shipped from point A to B on this carrier. I will seriously consider paying more to go with the competition in the future.

Extremely uncomfortable flight both inbound to Atlanta and outbound to UK. Aircraft was dirty, cold and very uncomfortable. The plane was overbooked and staff were appealing for customers to reschedule, surely this is illegal, and extremely poor management. We had no televisions on either flight and therefore could not access the reading lights. Our first experience with Delta and definitely our last.

My flight from USA to UK was cancelled and I found out the night before I was to leave that it had been cancelled. I had been trying ti check the flight and book my seat and was having trouble finding my flight so I called them. They had cancelled it 6 months before but had never informed me. I was originally on a non stop flight and had to book another flight for the same price with a stop over each way. On the way home from the UK they ran out of food choices and only had fish which my husband and I do not eat, there was a kind of coleslaw or creamy salad with the meal that was off so throughout the 7 hr flight we had a cardboard slice, a pizza and a small cake. Then they expected us to wait until every other section of the plane left while blocking our tiny section. I will never fly with them again.

September 16 - Heathrow to Atlanta - The new lay flat business seats are very narrow and uncomfortable. The cabin crew were excellent and worked very hard to serve the business class passengers. My biggest complaint was that the food was absolutely terrible! I simply couldn't eat it.

Flight from Hartford to Vegas was delayed so I left work early to take an earlier flight. This flight was also delayed two hours. They couldn't figure out how to work the jetway for 20 minutes. When I finally got off the plane I ran 40 gates to catch my connection at which point I saw the plane slowly pulling away from the jetway. There were a dozen of us on the flight and they decided not to hold the plane for 10 minutes. I waited two hours for the next flight, at which point they said they would hold the plane 30 minutes for Boston guests coming in late which was frustrating to hear. We all boarded that plane and they told us there was a "part missing" from the plane and we would have to switch planes. Ultimately I thought I would be arriving at 9pm in Las Vegas and did not get in until 2am. What's worse, is when I complained they offered me a $50 credit toward another Delta flight. I'm never flying Delta again.

MAN-AMS-ATL-ONT outward on 21 July, and ONT-SEA-AMS-MAN return on 9-10 September. All flights were on time, connections made and checked baggage arrived successfully. Staff were pleasant and efficient, and an upgrade on the return transatlantic leg was a bonus. However, Delta need to sort out their booking system compatibility issue with Alaska, though: with a Delta-issued ticket (i.e. all DL flight numbers), you cannot check in online if the first leg of your journey is on an Alaska codeshare. This problem has existed throughout the two and a half years I've been making this journey regularly.

I am disappointed with the safety, comfort and services received during the 7-hour flight Boston-Amsterdam route with Delta 604, with my 10 month old baby. I traveled for the third time on such a distance, I knew that the flight would be tedious. I am disappointed by the lack of information when booking tickets. As I was not aware my infant did not show up as travelling with me in your systems although I have I made the booking agent aware of this. I was also surprised that I was not provided with a belt attached to the baby. On the plane, I learned that my baby would not benefit from having a basket because I did not reserve one. Minimum comfort should be given to the baby, and those traveling with him, considering that we are talking about a long flight. Instead we had a lot of discomfort. Being a night flight, specially chosen for my son to sleep, he barely managed to sleep 2 hours, being held in my arms, without the benefit of too much space. Always holding the baby, I skipped meals made because it would have thrown all the food in front of us on the floor and possibly inconvenience others. For 7 hours I only managed to drink a glass of water. Also, my disappointment was even greater when I saw other babies, all of them having a basket.

Greensboro - Atlanta on "classic" DC9 connecting to Las Vegas on 767. Emergency Exit seats on both segments allowed a bit more legroom. Staff on both flights were superb. GSO-ATL featured one drink service with peanuts, pretzels or biscotti for 1hr 5min flight. On 3hr 43mins ATL-LAS leg, they started with a full drink pass - buy-on-board fruit and cheese platter was quite nice - followed by two coffee passes. An hour out of Vegas, their full drink service was curtailed due to turbulence but they managed a bottled water pass. My colleague with whom I was traveling was equally impressed.

Non stop flight from LaGuardia to Savannah, eta 4.30pm. They broke one of the doors and everybody had to leave the plane. Their solution - re-route everybody to take a 5 pm flight to Atlanta (waited on plane for 1 hour before takeoff), with 1.5 hour layover, then a 9 pm flight to Savannah. Arrived around 10.30pm. Delta's response - due to the delay, here's a $50 voucher towards your next flight. No meal vouchers, no apologies.

Travelled from Pearson Airport in Toronto to Atlanta, Georgia to Tampa, Florida. The flight was awful. My family and I ended up in the very back of the plane near the washrooms on both planes to and from Tampa, Florida. Being at the back of the plane for part of the flight would have been okay, but to have the same passengers at the back of the aircraft the entire flight to Florida and back to Toronto was hell! Delta should at least rotate passengers! If Delta wants to do this, they should at least compensate passengers by offering a discounted price for the back seats near the washrooms and the engine. It was very annoying and sickening, trying to sleep and relax while other passengers used the washroom considering that the odour from the washroom travelled out. By the time the air hostess made it to the back, we had landed and did not receive any food. People are paying good money and we deserve to get our moneys worth.

Flew JFK to SFO and back. Service was on time both ways. Check in at JFK is disorganized like anything else at JFK. Delta charges extra for aisle seats (they book you a "nice" middle seat to encourage you to pay extra), and everything else. On Board entertainment is poor (but who cares), food is at best mediocre. Service on board is equivalent to McDonalds. Not my first choice for my next flight. Seat comfort was mediocre.

NRT-ATL-RDU-ATL-HNL-NRT, mostly in business class. Their business class on international routes is actually quite good. It's more casual than I like, but the food is good, the newly renovated seats are comfortable and provide personal space, and the overall experience is comfortable. That cannot be said for their economy. I flew "economy comfort" from ATL to HNL and it was really trying. The seat does provide extra legroom, but width would be nice, too! The food was adequate. They provided a hot meal and a large, cold sandwich before landing. AVOD ok, despite a faulty handset. Flight attendants are beyond middle-aged on this 9 hour flight. My biggest complaint about economy are the toilets: absolutely disgusting with soap, urine, towels, bits of toilet paper, broken cookies, and hair all over the floors. Delta FA's do not clean toilets, no matter the length of flight (business or economy), so beware. Even with these complaints, I find Delta to be the best of the US carriers and that's why I'm still gold status with them.
