The worst customer service I've ever experienced. The gate personnel at JFK were completely incompetent. They were boarding 3 flights at one gate and didn't seem to know which flight was boarding or the status of any of the 3. There were no announcements made. My husband and I were at the gate, ready to board, behind 10-12 other people. When it was nearly 10 minutes before departure time, we approached an agent and asked if the flight was delayed. They told us the flight was full and that we had missed the flight! They offered no explanation as to why they didn't announce a final call. We waited in the Customer Service line for 1.5 hours, along with about 50 other passengers, all with similar experiences. Delta refused to admit any responsibility to any of these people. They also refused to reschedule people on another airline, give any refunds or provide vouchers for those who had to wait till the next morning for a connecting flight. To top it off, the agent threatened to call the police to throw people out if they got too upset! And one of the Delta employees was laughing at a customer - a young girl who was in tears because she didn't have the money to buy a second ticket. American Airlines went out of their way to accomodate us, allowing me to use frequent flyer mileage during a blackout period. They even gave us preferred seating. We have not received any response from Delta, after 2 weeks.

ILM-ATL-SFO return (first leg was code share on ASA, a Delta affiliate). All flights were on time and seating assignment was as requested at the time of purchase. As any American knows, US travel is less expensive these days (good) but the flights were packed and any semblance of "frills" are gone (bad) with the usual fees for snacks and checked bags. Entertainment systems are outdated in terms of audio/video; planes were reasonably clean. FAs make no special effort to be helpful or cheerful.

LAX-ATL-RDU-ATL-LAX in First Class. I felt that Delta itself tried its best to do its best: flight attendants and ground staff were adequate and often cheerful, most flights on time, and no baggage issues since I was in first. The planes are a bit older, but they had AVOD on the longer legs. Seats nothing special, and not worth the price. Food free and adequate. I would consider Delta again for domestic travel. The main issues of complaint were not with the airline itself, rather the customers flying. Everyone travels with way too much carry on luggage trying to avoid fees, most people overweight (including myself), and many people rather ill-mannered. In first class, why do passengers put their feet, with shoes on, on the bulkhead? Would you put your shoes on the wall of your home? I think the US carriers are doing their best, but with the traveling public expecting low fares and a budget experience, we end up with a mediocre product.

XNA-RSW. The XNA ticket assistant was very helpful in adjusting our flight schedule due to an unexpected death in the family. However, when my wife and two children attempted to travel on the new date, Delta administration had changed their flight without them knowing. None of the seats on the new flight were arranged together for our connecting flight out of Atlanta. As the parents of 10 and 6 year old girls, we found it appalling that my wife was not able to sit near our children. The Atlanta gate assistant was completely unwilling to assist her in this issue. Only the courtesy of another passenger allowed her to ride with our youngest daughter while the older daughter was forced to ride eight rows behind her by herself. Completely unacceptable and Delta has seen the last of this family's business.

Booked six weeks in advance, flying 1st class Orlando to Vegas. Delta cancels one of the flights and never notifies us. The return flight had been canceled, Delta placed us on another flight that was impossible for us make, due to time. When asked why I was not notified, I was given no reason what so ever, just a heavily accented “I am sorry”. Warning, check your entire flight because Delta feels no need to notify, I guess it saves them $$$, sad service to say the least. The last time we flew Delta, also 1st class, plane late & missed Delta connection, put on another Delta flight the next day in coach. No compensation, this airline has no customer service.

GSO-PDX via ATL. Award travel in Business class. All the flights were on time or close to it. Food better than adequate, service very good indeed (quite a surprise) and the new Wifi and AVOD systems, excellent.

Delta is not bad - I ended up picking them for my flight to Sydney from Toronto. They have competitive rates, friendly service. If you are reasonable Delta is a great choice. I had no issues with delays, lost baggage, or service.

Manchester to JFK, JFK to Orlando, Orlando to Atlanta and Atlanta to Manchester. Overall satisfactory - seemed to deteriorate as the trip went on. Plane to NYC with latest IFE, kept kids happy. Staff friendly. Internal flights nothing special - B757 used to get to Atlanta was making some very worrying noises when we landed. Flight home was worst experience. Plane dirty, no seat back TVs, IFE very late coming on due to tech difficulties. No alternative to 2 films shown. Staff did their jobs, no more, no less (managed to smile now and again), pilot quite abrupt "sit down and buckle up"!

I hope to never have to fly Delta again! Despite paying for my reservations weeks in advance and designating seats, when we arrived at the gate early for our flights, in 3 of the 4 flights we had booked we were given totally different seats, with no concern for the fact that we had two children we wished to have seated with one of the adults. The FA said it was up to us to get other passengers to trade seats to satisfy our concerns. At one gate we were told rudely that there were no seats for us. Apparently the flight was vastly overbooked and we were out of luck. We had to stand by until boarding time while they offered $600 "Delta dollars" for other passengers to voluntarily rearrange their schedules to allow us to take the flight we had already paid for. Customer service is apparently not a concern to the employees of this airline!

SYD-LAX-DTW-BGR/JFK-LAX-SYD. DL is new to SYD and fare offered an exceptional deal. All segments were full, international legs on newish B777, with good enough leg room, comfortable leather seats and decent AVOD. On the int'l sectors food was okay - good outbound, just Ok return. Service was good outbound and a would have been good on the return save one senior, snarly attendant whose attitude worsened with the distance from LA. The only significantly delayed departure was 3.5 hours from JFK (several reasons offered, none made sense). Check-in very slow at SYD but smooth and fast at JFK. US sectors passable, but former NW airplane stock was very tired. I realise the merger is progressing, but on more than 3 occasions staff told me they could not assist (like giving me boarding passes at LAX for onward flights) because either they were NW or DL and they did not have access to the other airline's systems (this was repeated on the help phone in the terminal); this is not just annoying - because everyone was already wearing a DL uniform and all the counters are badged DL - it tells me the integration message hasn't gotten through and leads to some black holes in basic service, like getting a boarding pass on a crowded flight. Much more work remains to be done here! My only other concern relates to terminals 5 and 6 used by DL at LAX - just about the most dispiriting and run-down place to travel through with a real lack of food options for those 4hr layovers! Overall, pretty good job and very good value, but the best part was the plane, not the service.

Simply put we will never fly Delta again. My husband and I were on our honeymoon (which needless to say is supposed to be a magical time after the months of endless stress). We saved for a year to be able to afford to go to Sandals Antigua. First, we got there early and mentioned our honeymoon to try to ensure that we had a nice trip, but instead we were not even seated next to each other one flight - I was yelled at by a flight attendant (because I asked to use the restroom when I didn't know we weren't allowed to - a simple "not right now" would have been nice), and to top it off my luggage was lost for almost our entire honeymoon. When we called (every day during our honeymoon) Delta would not pick up the phone for 4 hours straight each morning, which was actually the time they asked us to call, when they did answer were yelled at, hung up on, and finally told that we shouldn't worry about such petty things while on our honeymoon! The customer service was the most rude and inconsiderate I have ever encountered!
