JFK to London in World Traveller cabin was the new BA norm of average. Near time arrival and departure with a crew who were
efficient but could learn to smile a bit more was the highlight.
Boeing 747-400 was clean, but looking it's age. My only gripe (and not for the first time) is how the service and food continues to be downsized literally. The amenity
pack is now just a toothbrush and paste, with socks and shades only available on request.
A prompt bar service was followed by dinner - which comprised a tiny salad, roll, and choice of either Chicken Tikka Masala or Vegetable pasta. The chicken was
small but tasty (with 2 small pieces of chicken) followed by the smallest portion of carrot cake for dessert.
Wine was offered with the meal followed by 2 servings of tea and coffee. No offer of an after dinner drink - which when I
asked was brandy or scotch (nothing else is now loaded).
Breakfast wasn't worth the bother or insult - tea and
coffee, orange juice (they'd run out of other juices) and a disgusting dry muffin.
BA need to recover some of the ground they have lost on food and drink options before the masses look elsewhere. It looks cheap and nasty.
