HKG-SYD. Busy flight- check in and lounge at HKG excellent. Boarding efficient, new seats in
economy - if you stick a pillow at back of back its better. Usual screaming kids and
ineffectual parents but crew tried to keep everyone settled and quiet. Dinner seems to have
been cut back slightly. Drinks offered but asian airlines not quick as western ones to offer
drinks. TV is on demand and loads of choices. Breakfast OK, enough to keep you going until you
land. Plane clean and tidy in all areas. Cost high as Xmas time and Sydney-HKG route expensive
but no direct alternative.

B747 service LHR to Hong Kong Business Class Upper Deck. We left on time - full load and
cocktails served shortly after takeoff - I should say a cocktail was served - sadly no
seconds. Lunch was rushed on us and warm white wine was served. There was no alternate -
switch to red, 1 glass per person was served - no more. Cabin services Director listened but
had no comment re what maybe Cathay Pacific new Business class service of alcohol. A sad day
for passengers!

LHR-HKG-CNS. Much improved from our last trip on Cathay, two years ago. FAs attentive, and
extremely patient with and responsive to the many requests for attention from my 85 year old
mother. Beds were comfortable. Food was pleasant. Fares extremely competitive.

BNE-HKG-JFK-HKG-BNE mostly in economy with an upgrade to business class for the final leg HKG-
BNE. I chose Cathay Pacific because of their scheduling into and out of Australia and with
good connections from HKG, especially for the daylight flights into Brisbane or Sydney. BNE-
HKG-JFK (following overnight stay in Hong Kong) was quite good with two good meals on the
long-haul from HKG-JFK. I found the new-style seating in economy not too bad at all and
managed to get some sleep on this 15 hour plus sector. Return JFK-HKG was difficult, largely
because in the front economy cabin there must have been 10 babies all taking turns (or all
together) to scream throughout the entire 16 hour flight. Impossible to work. Sleep was only
occasionally possible thanks to some foresight to carry ear plus and eyeshades, which,
unfortunately are not standard issue in economy class for a flight of this length (they should
be). I have to agree with Bob Andrews in this column in regards to crying babies. I really
felt for the poor FAs who had to work through this type of environment for 16 hours and who
also had to put up with some exceptionally rude fellow passengers who demanded immediate wine
refills during busy meal periods and then arrogantly complained if their needs were not
immediately met. The business class service down to Brisbane on CX157 was excellent with a
useful arrival time of 1120pm into Brisbane. However, with the new herringbone seat layouts,
it was almost impossible to see out of the window which I try to do to assist with jet lag.
Overall a reasonable set of flights but surely someone in the airline system can do something
to assist with screaming baby problems. Maybe airlines flying these horrendous 16 hour non-
stop flight sectors need to carry a special infant nurse or medical person to assist with baby problems.

CGD-HKG-SGN and SGN-HKG-CDG with Cathay Pacific was a fabulous experience. Seats were very
comfortable on B744 and the A333/A343. Crew kind and professional. Inflight entertainment with
a very good choice of films, music and series. Food was great but unluckily reduced in
quantity and diversity of dessert.

LHR-HKG-MEL return Business Class. I haven't flow Cathay for many years now and there is a
difference, things have declined - CX used to be the best around but not anymore. Outbound to
HKG, easy check-in and a nice lounge at LHR. Service on board was OK but the 45 degree angle
seats take some getting used to, although I did sleep well enough. AVOD system has a good
selection of movies and music. Food and wines very average if not disappointing on all sectors
- this is a big change from the past. The CX lounges are great in Hong Kong. On the HKG-MEL
sectors the service decreased especially when it comes to trivial matters like refilling your
glass with water - I had to ask for this several times on all sectors and this is where the
service had faltered - the attentiveness has gone. There also seems to be a great hurry to
finish the meal service which means about zero time between courses and getting a second glass
of wine involves pressing the call button unfortunately. The worst sector by far was HKG-LHR
where the service was extremely poor (I actually complained to the attendants which is the
first time in many years!), the food worse, and augmented by a screaming baby throughout the
13 hr flight. When are the airlines going to figure out a better way to deal with babies in
business class - it is a much more frequent occurrence that causes many to have an unpleasant
flight for the sake of a few. Somebody needs to come up with a workable solution. Overall a
disappointing trip and I will stick to SQ for the UK-Australia trips.

YYZ-HKG-YYZ. Great flights in all respects. New 777-300ER. Quick boarding (Cathay staff really
work hard to board quickly), friendly service, good (but not great) food, and the best IFE in
the business. Seats are more comfortable than other airlines using the "herringbone" layout.
They are more narrow, but unless you're over 6'3" or 250 pounds it shouldn't be an issue. I
strongly recommend Cathay for trans-Pacific travel.

Business class Vancouver to Australia return. We do not like the seating same with some
Australians on the flight. They were too narrow and like a coffin. We did not talk for the
whole duration from Vancouver to Hong Kong. Returning from Melbourne the same.

Just returned Hong-Kong to Paris, seat 48G with Catrhay Pacific and was not very impressed
with my experience at all. I have flown CX many times on long routes the last few years and
could see this airline is cutting corners whenever it can. We were barely airborne on this 13
hours flight that the meal service started without any pre-cocktail drinks. I know considering
the time of the day, CX was in a hurry to get everyone to sleep but still. Supper was just a
simple snack with a tiny tuna salad, hot dish, bread & butter and a chocolate bar. I asked
for 2 half glasses of wine, white & red but was abruptly told that it is CX policy to serve
only one alcoholic drink at a time. There was no coffee service despite having a cup on the
tray and once the trays cleared, no rounds of drinks during the flight and should you be
thirsty you had to go to the galley to find juices and crackers - no sandwiches, noodles or
else. On such a long flight would have expected a hot breakfast but just a simple continental
with a croissant, sweet roll, yoghurt and unapetizing hard fruit cocktail. I wonder why CX
print a long list if drinks on its menu if they are never offered. I was not impressed with
CX wich I will try to avoid in the future. The new seats are quite confortable.

SIN-HKG return. Flight SIN-HKG on old B777-300 which does not have AVOD, the remote controller
is on an awkward position which obstructs the armrest. Food is good for this flight but
another drink service would be appreciated. HKG-SIN on a slightly newer B777-300 which does
not have AVOD as well. Food is good. Cathay Pacific doesn't seem to book seats for family
members together. My family requested to be booked together via a tour agency and only got
together on the SIN-HKG flight and not the return flight. Thus my family was split up. In
conclusion, I think Cathay Pacific needs to upgrade its entertainment system for regional
flights as it is currently outdated for a 5 star airline, especially for people who cannot
sleep on the plane like me!

LHR-HKG-AKL return. All 4 check-ins at the airports were excellent; fast, friendly and
efficient. We did do on-line check-in a couple of days before though, which was easy. All
sectors pretty much on time give or take a minute or two. Crew were very good, pleasant and
efficient. Food excellent. Seats aren't great but OK. IFE excellent, good choice of films and
music etc. All in all, superb value for money.

SIN-BKK Business class. Check in was smooth, and found our way to the skyview lounge. While
lounge is restful and ok, the food selection must be improved. As for the flight, you do not
get the regional business class seat as advertised in Cathay Pacific website. You get a much
older seat with mechanical controls. Its ok for a short flight, but not much more than that.
The food was average, but drink selection was great. Menu and drink lists were both handed
out. On the whole, for the price that we paid (S$517 return bus cls), I would say its good
value, compared to what other airlines charge. But Cathay really needs to revamp the seats on
aircraft used for this sector.

SIN-BKK-HKG. Service amongst cabin attendants rather inconsistent both ways, even on my way
back (HKG-SIN). Some didn't bother to acknowledge you while speaking to them, while others
were really considerate. Seat wise, no complains, only if CX could implement foot rest like
SQ would be better. Food and beverage pretty average.

SIN-HKG-SIN on economy class. No menu card, flight delayed with no apology given, FAs rushing
during meal service, bad command of English and they expect Chinese passengers to be able to
speak and understand Cantonese!! Not a 5-star experience at all. The only + point is the cheap
ticket
