Sydney to Guangzhou in economy. Check-in and boarding was fast. Ground staff were friendly and spoke
good English but flight attendants spoke very little English. The food was good for airplane food and they had
a good variety of drinks. The seats were clean and comfortable but the cabin was a bit cramped. Flight
attendants did everything they could to make the flight comfortable but turbulence made it hard to sleep.
Inflight entertainment was ok but there were only overhead screens. Baggage and arrival was as smooth as it
could be.

The main trouble was with international transits at the airports in both Guangzhou and Beijing, which was
not the airline's fault. Service was friendly, English was spoken well enough by cabin-crew for a pleasant
service, and the food was basic but edible. IFE was almost non existent from BNE-CAN, but onwards to AMS
it was fantastic. Return flight from AMS-PEK was a KLM flight and to be honest the difference in standard
stood out by miles, but for the price of this flight (x2 as travelling with the spouse) the saving was evident
but worthwhile. I would only choose to fly them again if the saving was as huge as this trip was. I wouldn't
recommend them to anyone for international transits, but I would advise anyone who has already booked
their flight to go with an open mind and appreciate the low cost. I would use them again and recommend
them if I was flying only to Guangzhou.

A330-300 in economy. However, A330-200 was extremely cramped with all outside seats having metal boxes
affixed to seat anchors which further reduced foot space. I was also very surprised by the lack of water
provision during the flight which was 11 hours in duration. Significant time was also spent prior to the flight
attempting to do online check-in and seat allocation - to no avail.

YVR-CAN on Boeing 777-200ER. Out of date entertainment system which only has about 40 movies (most of
them in Chinese), and the seats are cramped. The food was typical, and the cabin crew sort of helpful.

Beijing-Shanghai Pudong on A380, changed my flight just to experience China Southern new A380. Flight on
time, very hard seat and uncomfortable, leg room for some seats is more spacious compared to China
Southern Airlines other aircrafts. Meal is ok, AVOD excellent, huge amount of movies.

Travelled to Guangzhou on more than 5 occasions. The staff can understand English but at a very basic level
but this can vary from flight to flight. Announcements by the pilot or pre-recordings are not very extensive
but are detailed enough for passengers to understand the situation. 3 out of 5 times the plane I was
travelling on A330 did not have personal entertainment screens on the back of seats, the food was also quite
bland but it was warm at least.

Unfortunately, the con's outweigh the pro's. Staff service, food and entertainment were all a disappointment.
Staff are inexperienced when dealing with customers - they are impatient and don't smile. Food was
disgusting and cold. There was limited entertainment - no television screens on the back of seats - everyone
had to share one and watch the channel that they put on. If you are looking for a good airline, I can
confidently say that China Southern Airlines is not the one.

BNE-CAN-CDG return, and they provided a better experience than supposedly more 'upmarket' Air France
codeshare partner. Be warned: there is no video system in economy, apart from a coach style screen miles
away from you with mediocre selections - this is a big drawback. Food was rather good for economy, though
alcohol selections are very limited. Toilets were so-so in terms of cleanliness, but the cabin was bright and
airy. You're also given a handy toiletries bag. Staff generally pleasant and efficient. Overall, an ok
experience.

Hanoi-Guangzhou-Beijing in Y class. I do not understand why China Southern encourage transit in
Guangzhou, but do not tag luggage through to the final destination. Check-in at Hanoi and Guangzhou were
fast. A319 Hanoi-Guangzhou and A321 Guangzhou-Beijing with good leg room. Both flights on time. Service
onboard pretty good, breakfast for Hanoi-Guangzhou and lunch from Guangzhou to Beijing. AVOD not
available, overhead TV programs ok but nothing exciting. China Southern really need to tag luggage to final
destinations and issue connecting boarding passes. These fake international (domestic) flights are simply not
working.

PER-CAN-PER December 2011. If China Southern is trying to encourage international travel to and from
Australia, I would suggest they checkout other airlines in the region to get a feel for what Service means.
Had to make several attempts just to get some water on my flights, food was terrible and not hot, and the
cabin staff cannot speak or understand English. No info from the flight deck! This was in premium economy - I
would hate to see what economy class is like. Entertainment - what entertainment?

Flew CZ a couple of times recently on Shanghai Hongqiao-Changsha, Kunming-Lijiang. Brand new A320 very
clean, all on time departure and arrival which is rare for Chinese domestic flight. Decent service with good-
quality food and drinks, China Southern improved their quality of service a lot since they joined Skyteam.

Seoul-Guangzhou-Vancouver. Very pleasant experience with attentive staff. Everything was on time, food was
tasty and attendants helpful and nice. Entertainment system had some glitches, but I did not care much.

Amsterdam to Auckland via Beijing and Guangzhou. A 24 hrs flight with this airline gives me a good overall
impression of the company. Brand new A330s brings many advantages: quiet, clean, good entertainment
system (but bad selection of movies). Also quite a lot of leg room in Economy. However the food served was
really bad, the crew did not smiles with poor English skills. The ground facilities in China are not the best,
with lots of unnecessary immigration and security checks even though I was only transiting. Overall ok
because the planes on this route are new, but I have had better experiences on all the other airlines I have
used before from Europe to NZ.

SYD-CAN-SYD return in First on a brand new A330-300. Excellent product. 180 degree flat bed with nice pj's
and a bvlgari amenity kit. Turn down service is personal, with a nice thin mattress and an undercover. Large
pillows and comfortable duvet Food is so so for first class standards. IFE is good with some new hollywood
movies. Service personal and not interrupting. Flight were on time. Only downside is the lack of champagne
onboard. Overall, very good value for money in First. Would defiantly fly them again.

Sydney-Guangzhou-Sydney. A330-300 both legs. IFE was a bulkhead screen. They had two movies for the 9
hour trip but one of them didn't work, so they showed the one movie on a loop. Food was serviceable from
SYD. Almost inedible from CAN. Choice of a red or white wine, beer or juices. Nothing served cold. Seat
was reasonably comfortable with the extra legroom in PE. Other than to refill paper, toilets were not cleaned
the whole trip. Staff are pretty much Mandarin speaking only. They served food and then were not seen
again for 5 hours.

Very hit and miss. The leg from Amsterdam via Beijing to Guangzhou was relatively comfortable, newish
plane, good entertainment system with English movies included, fairly palatable food. The leg from
Guangzhou to Brisbane (and later, Sydney to Guangzhou) was pretty mediocre - no individual screens, poor
food. The actual flights are bearable - what lets this company down is the organisation. Both at Guangzhou
and Beijing, no-one had any idea of where to go, staff members spoke little English. Online check-in proved
impossible for us. Other than this, the actual flights aren't too bad and certain legs were actually much better
than expected.

Sydney to Taiyuan. After selecting CZ for the good connection, they cancelled the return domestic flight at
16.00 and rebooked me on 11.30 flight which left me waiting in CAN for more than 7 hours. Check-in in
Sydney and return was efficient and unproblematic, with bags checked through all the way to the final
destination. Long haul 777-200 and Airbus 330-300 had very uncomfortable seats (not insulated against
engine vibrations, no headrests). Substandard IFE - so bring your own laptop. Flight attendants professional,
food fair. Transfer and Immigration in CAN very fast, friendly and professional.
