Impressed for the cheap price to go from PER to LAX. Food was quite nice and the staff made the experience
pleasurable. Due to having a leg problem, I asked the flight attendant if I could be moved and I was
upgraded to Premium Economy! The main negative was that on the way back from CAN to PER, the late night
flight was delayed around 5 hours, which was unbearable, but these things happen!

Purchased a flight from BNE-AMS via CAN for $1500 which was $800 cheaper than the next airline so I was
expecting a lesser quality than other airlines. Delay's to flights seem to be the norm with the average delay
for the 4 flights being 2 hours, so be warned if you have a connecting flight. Seating is good, I even had an
upgrade to Premium Economy which had fantastic leg space, food and drink acceptable with staff coming
around with water during the night. No personal inflight entertainment to and from Brisbane but they did
have English movies on drop down screens regularly. Aircraft was clean, A/C good , toilets large and clean. I
had a 15 hour stopover in Guangzhou (which turned into 18) and received a complimentary transfer to a CSA
hotel for the day with breakfast. You pay for what you get.

Cheap seats for us from Sydney to Paris were, as we had expected, cheap. Apart from the non-existent
inflight entertainment, the flight on the first leg, to Guangzhou, was efficient until landing. Then, for some
reason, the pilot decided to fly round and round in circles for over an hour. A simple announcement from the
pilot or another crew member as to what was causing the delay, would have been much appreciated. Like
other reviewers, I was shocked by the tardiness of Guangzhou Airport. A mouldy, dark, and bare terminal. Air
France provided the Guangzhou to Paris leg of our journey and that was a superb flight. I think that with
some minor tinkering, China Southern can be a great carrier.

Arrived to the airport to find out the flight was delayed 8 hours. Complete chaos in the check-in line, with no
staff present to explain the situation. The chaos spread to the booking counter where they were attempting
to re-book connecting flights. To my surprise the airline had no computer at the booking counter and the
three employees present were running back and forth with hand-written pieces of paper, continually making
mistakes on the re-booking. Despite being third in line, it took nearly 1 hour to reach the front. I was re-
booked on a flight 2 days later with no apology. Staff rude and spoke poor English.

Overall for what we paid it was a pretty easy trip. We flew Brisbane to Beijing via Guangzhou, Beijing to
Hong Kong and Hong Kong to Brisbane via Guangzhou. Plane was delayed in BNE for 5 hours due to a
mechanical problem which these things happen from time to time. Transfer and immigration/customs in
Guangzhou was straight forward. Beijing to HKG was on time and on an A380. Return flight delayed due to
weather in Beijing and in Guangzhou due to an unruly passenger. BNE to PEK via CAN is often delayed but
you get what you pay for. In flight entertainment was poor in and out of Australia but once again it was
cheap. Flight crew were mostly helpful and had enough English to get by. If I want to fly cheaply again I
would use them.

Have been on about 10 China Southern international flights now, and many domestic (within China) ones.
The international ones are consistently very late. For the last several flights I tell myself this will be the last
international CZ flight I will go on. The last experience was terrible. Flight to CAN was 5 hours late, arriving
in Guangzhou at about 11pm. As usual the transit desk at Guangzhou was chaos. They said they would take
us to a hotel but 2 hours later it was obvious nothing was happening. Not enough seats, crowded and noisy,
and then you have to catch a crowded bus to board the plane. Advantage is usually they are very cheap, but I
have concluded it is not worth the troubles.

Flew from Perth to Vancouver via Guangzhou and on the return to Perth via Guangzhou and Beijing where we
had a few days stop over. Premium class both ways so were pleased with the extra space. The Perth to
Guangzhou flight was good, the food a bit bland and warm. Because of premium class being half full on this
journey, the other passengers from economy kept trying to sit themselves in premium but kept being sent
back by the stewardess's. On our flight to Vancouver the plane took off 2.5 hours late which in turn made us
miss our connection flight to Calgary. On the Vancouver to Beijing flight via Guangzhou, again our flight was
delayed another 2 hours and our luggage was booked all the way through to Beijing, but on arrival in Beijing
our luggage did not arrive as we were told we should have picked up our luggage in Guangzhou. So trying to
solve the problem with airport staff who did not speak conversant English was a problem and took us over an
hour to sort things out. Informed that it would follow on the next flight and then onto our hotel, which it did.
On all flights there is very little entertainment, so take your own even books as the magazines are in
Chinese. If you want to save money and be prepared for a bit less standard and service it's passable, but
leave at least 3 hours if you have another flight connection.

We flew return from Sydney to Lisbon, via Guangzhou, Beijing and Amsterdam. Just like any other major
airline, service was acceptable, food standard (although no allowances made for vegetarians), comfort and in-
flight entertainment was industry standard, we had individual TV screens with a choice of eastern and
western movies, TV programmes, music etc, with exception of Guangzhou to Sydney flights which only had
flip down overhead screens showing Chinese, American and kids movies. Our flight times were changed at the
very last minute less than 24 hrs before we were due to fly. The inflight crew were very young and
inexperienced, and had very poor command of English. No repertoire with passengers. Return flight from
Beijing to Guangzhou delayed 1.5 hrs with no explanation, we sat on the tarmac with no air con. Airports in
China are very complicated and frustrating, twice we had to run to our gate to catch connecting flights. We
were told that our luggage would be checked through to Sydney, but when we arrived in Beijing we learned
we had to collect our baggage and go back through check in. In Guangzhou we had our passports withheld at
customs with no explanation as to what was happening while staff walked around talking to each other.
Airport staff are very slow, even when we explained our flight was actually boarding and we were in a hurry.
There was a lot of confusion among fellow passengers, with some not being advised of the stop over in either
Beijing or Guangzhou on route to Amsterdam or Sydney.

My wife and I flew from Australia to Europe. The food was terrific, and catered for my wife's vegetarian
requirement. Outbound, the air hostess did not smile, but on the way back, the air hostess was friendly and
very nice. On the leg back from Guangzhou to Melbourne, the passengers who embarked in Guangzhou were
very noisy and would not quieten down until about 1am. We did not have this situation on the leg to Europe.
We took our iPad so we could watch western movies in comfort. All in all, I think for the price it is very good.

Brisbane to Guangzhou and back. There were minimal problems. It's a budget flight, don't expect first class
service, and don't complain if you don't get it. There is no in flight entertainment so take a good book, or an
ipad, I did this and had no problems. The food was quite nice and filling and they came around with drinks a
few times. We flew in an A330 - quite modern and clean. Seats were comfortable and I had plenty of room, I
was even able to keep my carry on bag underneath my legs. Guangzhou airport on the other hand is another
story. If you are stuck there for a long time, bring some entertainment. There is no ATM, no currency change
facility, you would see every shop in about 20 minutes, and I found the staff there quite rude. However in
saying that, on the return trip they were nicer. There is no internet facility there. In saying all that, I saved
$800 compared to my flight to Europe last year.

I travelled to the Philippines, there and back, I used China Southern Airlines on part of my journey, so 4
different flights, it was cheap, but the big thing for me wasn't the price, it was the service. I felt a bit let
down, the English was terrible and there was no communication from the pilot whatsoever. As soon as we
boarded at Amsterdam, the shutters were closed and lights turned off, it was 13.30 in the afternoon, so 12
hours of darkness, there was a lot of turbulence and every 15 mins one of the cabin crew would attempt to
speak English and panic everyone onboard shouting something, this was repetitive on other legs of my
journey, so as I'm not a great flyer, it did not help me relax.

Terrible experience with this airline. They cancelled our flights and rescheduled us three times with no
apologies. We had to rearrange our hotels three times accordingly and spent hours of our vacation talking on
the phone with customer service representatives from China Southern. The flights we ended up taking were
both delayed for over four hours each, again with no apology. I would never ever book again with them.

We traveled from Brisbane to Paris via Guangzhou on 21/5/12 and returned to Brisbane via Sydney on
17/6/12. We saved lots of money (that we could then spend on our holiday) and were generally very happy
with the service. There was no problems with the planes, the food or the service onboard, although on 2 out
of the 4 planes the entertainment systems were below par. However we understood this was a budget flight
and overall were very happy. I think the only real disappointment was Guangzhou airport, which lacked
facilities expected in a modern airport.

I was very disappointed. Our first flight was delayed by 3 hours. Apart from this delay, the trip over to Europe
was quite smooth, but the real hassle began on the trip home. When we tried to check-in at Copenhagen
airport we were told that our bags could not be checked all the way through and would have to be collected in
Amsterdam and checked in again. The gentleman at the check-in counter made a few calls and managed to
get us checked all the way through. The flight out of Amsterdam was delayed again and Beijing airport was
very confusing. No assistance whatsoever from the China Southern staff. Their English was very poor. We
were told to collect luggage from Beijing to be checked in again and then told not to when we tried. Again,
the flight to Guangzhou was delayed and we were requested to go through customs yet again. The service
was very average. I have travelled on several different airlines and this was by far the worst I have
experienced. Several other Australians on the flight had commented that they would pay the extra next time
- myself included.

We travelled from Melbourne Australia to Paris France with a stopover at Canton in China. We got this flight
cheap $1100 AU return, most other airlines offer this sort of flight for $2300 AU or above. After reading
reviews before we left we didn't expect too much from the airline and so weren't disappointed! The food is
terrible, the customer service is non existent, the IFE is very basic. In saying that, for a saving of $1200 each
we ate before we flew and took snacks, loaded up our kindles so we had plenty of reading material, and were
prepared for basic service. For the price we paid we got what we paid for. If travelling on a budget again I
would choose this airline. If I had a little more money I would go elsewhere.
