Hong Kong-Shanghai-New York (JFK) return. At check-in in Hong Kong there was quite a long line with only a
handful of agents. However, I was still able to clear check-in, security and get to the gate 10 mins before boarding.
Hong Kong-Shanghai was very comfortable on an A320. Once we arrived at Shanghai we had to go through
Chinese customs and back through the metal detectors to transfer. Shanghai-JFK, on an A340, was very good.
However, there was no in-seat entertainment systems and the communal movies that were offered were not
very good. In every seat, however, there is an electrical plug. I saw quite a few passengers plug in iPads and PSPs
and such, so CEA is allowing you to bring your own entertainment. The food throughout both flights did not offer
any non-Chinese food options. On the return flight everything was fine and the food and drink seemed to be of
better quality. The flight to Shanghai was about 30 mins late, which cut my transfer to HKG close. CEA is good
value for money.

Shanghai-London and I saw things I had never seen before on the same route, like Twinings and wine. Don't know
if it is their recent service upgrade. Hope they can keep that up.

Flew Beijing-Pudong and Macau-Pudong-Bejing. First flight on A330 which was not very full. Seats still a bit
cramped and no food served, just a very processed drink and I am diabetic! Macau through Pudong-Bejing was on
A320 both flights. MU did not listen to my pleas not to check bag all the way through to Beijing and promptly lost it
in Shanghai. Flight late and check in at Macau disorganised for a very small airport. Baggage services at Beijing
very unhelpful. Would only fly MU again if no alternative.

JFK-Shanghai. A terrific airline for the price. Comfortable seating. Food as good as any Chinese airline.
Generous flight attendants. You should have no hesitation flying this airline.

China Eastern has got a lot better since I flew with them 3 yrs ago from LAX-PVG. The modern A340-600 aircraft
has roomy space compared to other international airlines and my favourite comfortable 2-4-2 seat configuration.
They also have power outlets behind each seat which many airlines don't have, they have many music channels.
The meals are a great amount. The flight attendants are friendly and helpful as on the way to PVG a PAX lost his
wallet somewhere and about 3 FA's tried to help him find his wallet for over an hour and they made an
announcement too. Shanghai's PVG international airport is very nice and modern and easy to navigate around. I've
seen many negative comments and review for China Eastern and don't understand why. But most of them i've
noticed come from Westerners and I understand why. The food and culture and drinks with no ice is Chinese
culture. It'll be unfamiliar so bring some snacks. I've heard of many situations where they give Lunch vouchers and
hotel room for delayed flights.

Frankfurt-Shanghai-Taipei and return. Very basic with no inflight entertainment.
No problem as I had books to read, movies to watch and music to listen to myself.
Unbeatable price. No online check-in, but staff very friendly and arranged good seats
for me (even when I showed up 1hr ahead of check-in). The ground staff helped my
parents at Shanghai airport with transfer flight, I really appreciate their assistance as
my parents only speak German. Got a beer whenever I asked for it.

YVR-HKG + return flight. Paid $1000CAD. The service and food was good/excellent compared to North American
airlines I have flown. All 4 of my flights (connections) arrived and departed on time. I found the seats
comfortable. Also, there was a lot of food offered in the flights - my 2 hr flight came with a full meal.

I tried to upgrade on CEA flight Shanghai to Rome. Was told that there was Superior Economy so
paid extra at Shanghai airport for a seat with more leg room etc. only to discover that they
had sold me another economy seat. Superior Economy Does Not Exist on their aircraft. There
was no in-flight entertainment on a 12 hr+ flight and the only good thing about the seats is
that there is a small foot rest.

Kolkata to Kunming and back. The flight service was fairly good, lots of leg space, but there
was no entertainment facility. Flight was 2.5 hrs, so no problem. Food served was just okay, we
got fruits, muffins, bread, boiled egg and juice. A value for money, good service!

Kathmandu to Kunming. Flight about one third full so could spread out across the seats. On time
arrival and departure, meal and drinks complimentary. Boeing 737-700. In flight entertainment
on overhead screens. Overall very good.

Shenzhen to Shanghai on A300 in domestic First. An ancient plane but fairly well maintained. No
IFE, just newspapers. Old seats more comfy than they looked. Food not up to standard - salad,
dessert in vacuum plastic. Only 2 crew for the 20+ pax in First. Responsive, with excellent
english. The experience not worth the money paid.

Melbourne to Heathrow. Melbourne to Shanghai was a Shanghai Airlines plane, old but well
maintained, with older style seat. Flight attendants were okay, but English poor to good.
Shanghai to Heathrow was a China Eastern Airlines plane - good plane, service, food, wine, FA's
with good english. All good, but not excellent. Small thing let CEA down, like headset were
unusable, toilet bag was very limited. They are very much a 3 star airline, CEA need to look at
the small things and get some new planes if they want to be taken seriously. But if the price
is right they are worth using.

HKG to Wuxi (China) on A320 plus 2 other internal flights in China. HKG/Wuxi flight was 5 hrs
late and I was not looking forward to my first flight on a Chinese airline. However if you are
going to be stuck at an airport waiting for a delayed flight then Hong Kong is a good place -
very modern, large, plenty of places to eat (and shop) and free wireless internet. Eventually
got to check-in and it was fast and efficient. During the flight - leg room adequate, plane was
reasonably new, crew were very good and spoke some English and lots of information was given
from the flight deck. I was quite impressed. On other internal flights in China I was similarly
pleased. Each flight was about 2 hrs. Airports were very modern (even smaller ones), check in
was good, cabin staff very helpful and efficient, good clean planes and generally a good
experience.

Singapore-Pudong return on the red eye flight in Economy class. Flights were on time both
ways. Old aircraft, got the exit row on both flights so should not complain about leg room.
For a flight that charges only about half of what you would pay for SQ or CX, you should not
expect any of the following because you will not have them : wet towel after boarding/before
arrival, inflight movies, personal entertainment screen, adjustable head rest, footrest,
toiletries pack, clean toilets, attendants making rounds with drinks other than at meal times.
I believe the toilet I used was not cleaned at all during the flight.

PEK-Xi'an-PEK and pleasantly surprised. Plane in perfect condition. Good food and service
fine. FAs distant but professional. Most likely shy due to not perfect language skills but
totally fine for me. I only speak a few phrases Mandarin but got along well. On the way back
at check-in informed that flight is cancelled (not shown on screen - bad) and sent to ticket
counter. Expected nightmare but was handled promptly. Got rebooked on CA flight 30 minutes
later. So maybe luck but happy with what I got for the price paid.

Vancouver to Bangkok via Shanghai. The planes looked quite old. Entertainment was in Chinese
and that is if you could even see the TV. Food from YVR to Shanghai was ok. We had a 2 hour
delay in Shanghai both coming and going and this was after a 5 hour scheduled layover. The
food we were given waiting at the airport on the return was probably the worst meal I have
ever been given. The food on the plane wasn't much better. Both stopovers in Shanghai the
departure gates kept changing and they don't announce it over the PA.

Shanghai to Singapore and back. No problem with Check-in and flight as scheduled. Service is
alright, don't expect the FA to be too friendly to Asian looking folks. My husband received
more attention (not to mention more smiles too) than me (I'm guessing it is because he is a
Caucasian man). Food could be better - started out with a paper box containing snacks that
looked edible but tasted weird, main course was stale but it was better than nothing. The deal
breaker for me was the condition of the plane. It looked like it belongs in the museum and not
anywhere near the runway. Rubber insulation around my seat were coming off, the fabric fell
off the front seat when I unstowed the tray table.

Vancouver to Hong Kong round trip on this airline. My wife was sick on the plane. The cabin
crew was very accommodating and attentive. They also helped her through the transit in
Shanghai and arranged the ground crew to take her through custom and processed her paper. I
found the seats reasonably comfortable. The food is ok and I think it is good value for the
fare I paid. The only complaint we have is they did cancel our original return flight to
Shanghai while we were in Hong Kong. We found out the day before the flight when we checked
the schedule online. We rebooked another flight out with the help of our hotel concierge.
