ABZ-LHR. Service excellent from ground and cabin staff, however once again the 1520 service
from Aberdeen to LHR was late - this time by an hour. I use this service about 5 times per
year, and it's always late due to problems at Heathrow.

LHR to TXL return on A319. We found the seat pitch excellent, staff cheerful, free snacks an
added bonus and the flight experience exceeded our expectations. The only downside was that at
LHR we walked to Luthansa area only to be re-directed back to BMI. Perhaps it could be made
clearer for those with LH tickets where the flight is operated by BMI. Nevertheless and
outstanding service, and the efficiency at TXL puts other airports to shame.

AMM-LHR Economy Class. Economy half full and on initial leg from Addis to Amman there were few
passengers. Consequently service was good, a drink, then breakfast and frequent rounds of
water / juice. Timekeeping good with a slightly ahead of time departure and 45 minutes ahead
arrival. The inflight entertainment system showed its age and no sound could be heard in some
rows of seats (is this one of the most frequent complaints from passengers?) The buses arrived
at the plane promptly, therefore there was little annoyance at not parking at a gate.

LBA-OSL via BRU. LBA-BRU-LBA sectors with BMI and great value for money. Early morning flight,
but crew on the ball. Baggage checked to OSL as all flights booked on 1 ticket. Online checkin
was fine, and boarding card for BRU-OSL with SAS given at LBA baggage drop. Cabin attendant
was friendly, drinks and cheese roll complimentary. BRU-LBA was equally pleasant. Very tasty
sandwich and nice wine, again complimentary.

London-Bishkek return in business. Outbound leg was largely unremarkable on an old but clean
757 with seats of variable recline. Food and wine was fine (but unable to chill white winE).
Inbound a disaster. 12 hour delay was not communicated to us by either e-mail or mobile
phone. Substitute plane had no business class and 10 days later have had no response from BMI
following their invitation for us to contact customer relations. They do not allow you to
speak to a person (despite the contact details on the webpage) and response to letters and e-
mails is 'at least 4 weeks as they are still behind dealing with volcanic ash issues'. All in
all little evidence of customer care when things are not going well.

RUH-LHR – excellent in-flight service on their only A330 was let down by ground services upon
arrival at LHR. We pulled up at the Gate on schedule and were held on board whilst someone
was located to chock the wheels. Then someone had to be found to operate the airbridge. Once
that was done, we disembarked to get no further than the top of the airbridge as the door
leading into the Terminal was locked. Another delay then ensued whilst someone was located to
unlock the door. And so, onto the bmi Arrivals Lounge. There is no longer lift access to
this Lounge and so flights of stairs need to be encountered – not too good if you have
luggage. Once inside, we were informed that towels for the showers had not been delivered and
another 30 mins passed before they arrived. Meanwhile, the Internet was down – this appears a
regular problem according to the comments within the Visitors Book

LHR-DAM Business Class. The slightly aging A320 was full in economy and half-full in business
class, hence service was very good up front. Service was attentive but they forgot tea and
coffee (ostensibly because the machine was broken) until reminded. There was a choice of films
to watch but being an old plane, it was not “on-demand”, screen definition was poor and
suffered from reflected light. The four course menu offered Business class passengers a good
choice of dishes of very reasonable quality. All passengers shared the same coach to the
airport terminal and there did not seem to be any priority given to business luggage.

Glasgow - Heathrow - Glasgow Premium Economy. This means access to lounge, seating at front
of plane and free food and drinks. Crew polite, served quickly. Revamped lounge at Heathrow
is nice with a better selection of food than before, although it would be nice to be able to
get something more substantial such as soup or salads. Every time I fly with BMI its the same
selection of sandwiches, cheese or beef and horseradish. A bit of variety would be nice.

8th June. Low cloud at Belfast City Airport meant delays to flights. Communication to
customers extremely poor. Had to rebook ongoing flight for next day. BM would not rebook for
next day stating the flight would go that night but might be from the International Airport,
flight did leave over three hours late, so had to pay for night in Heathrow Hotel. No help
given as to where bags would be on arrival at Heathrow. Was sent from Term 1 to Term 3 where
nobody was available, had to wait until next day and staff were unhelpful. Eventually at 4pm
on Wednesday 9th was informed bags were in Heathrow.

LHR-BHD-LHR, out Business, fast check-in at LHR and use of the lounge. Seats in front of
plane, good service, short flight of 55mins. Return in Economy, again fast check-in, good
service on board.

MAN-LHR-BEY. Flight from Manchester was fine, left early and arrived early in Heathrow. The
flight to Beruit was delayed due to the large number of passengers who believe that "1 small
piece of hand luggage" does not apply to them. BMI did try to get some of these checked-in,
but the flight was full, as too was the hold. The flight was going on to Khartoum. A321 had
seatback entertainment which offered a reasonable choice and comfort for a 5+ hour flght was
okay. If you are flying on this route try to get on the plane as soon as possible to utilize
the overhead lockers.

LHR-Cairo and return in Business. Excellent lounge now at LHR, with decent hot breakfast and
great staff. Sadly this route now has a pretty old A321 with 2x2 seating. Seats only have
slight recline, but not a major problem given the daylight timing of the flights. Meals fine
with good service. IFE ancient - clunky screen with poor resolution; remote control
reminiscent of the 80s - and nothing to tell you how to get to AVOD (don't watch the films on
the setting showing a film camera, where you have to watch at time of their choosing, instead
click past the audio channel and you'll find on-demand).

Berlin Tegel to Heathrow Business Class. Check in was quick at the Star Gold counter
(Lufthansa first class), the lounge (Lufthansa Senator) OK, but you have to pay for internet
access. Security check at gate incredibly slow, but that is more an airport than airline
issue. 20 people in business class. Hot meal with choice between two options. No trolleys in
the cabin, everything carried to the passengers one by one. But with only one cabin attendant
in the business cabin, it made the service quite slow. Most people had finished their food
before drinks were served. Food not quite business class level, but OK. Baggage delivery at
Heathrow quick, and the priority bags were first up. All in all not bad, but needs a bit more
for being business class. On the flip side, the price was half of BA club.

LHR-VIE early morning flight. This flight used to be run by Austrian Airlines, and the switch
to BMI is a pity. No business check in open before 0500 (flight departs 0605). Only two
check in clerks for a long and growing queue: better organised and staffed check in is needed.
Flight service was fair, but the safety announcement was at a volume that was close to the
threshold of pain for hearing. VIE to Baku was with Austrian, and excellent service. Not all
subsidiary parts of Lufthansa are equal, and this is making me look at alternative
possibilities for my next London - Baku trip.

LHR-CAI-LHR Business class. The Lounge now serves porridge and hot bacon or omelette rolls
together with fruit and cereals and pastries. Our gate was 5b so very close to the lounge. As
we were travelling in Business we were allowed to jump the queue and boarded quickly. Seats 1D
and 1F, drinks, towels, menus and newspapers before departure. After take off brunch orders
taken. Excellent service. Quick disembarkation. Return trip-easy check in, lounge ok, alcohol
free, easy boarding. Full business cabin, service good but very slow. We were in row 1 and
there was an hour between getting our mains and those in the last business row 8. Crew worked
hard. Long walk to immigration, only 1 Iris machine but at least after a 6 minute wait for the
first bag our priority bag arrived within 1 minute. Good service, but a tad slow but excellent
hardworking crew.

LHR-ABZ. Check-in at London was slow, only one desk open for fast bag drop with around 25
people queuing. Despite this, there were 6 or 7 BMI staff chatting away at the side, not
trying to open any of the other desks to speed up the process. Eventually one extra minion
appeared, but seemed to be on a go-slow. On the flight, the cabin attendant was efficient, if
not particularly friendly. The plane was in good condition, with comfortable seats and not too
crowded. BMI need to improve on the check-in front before I would consider spending
my own money on their flights.

LHR-TXL-LHR. Online check in not working was advised to check in at airport with Lufthansa
(originally booked via LH). Tried to check in at LH (zone K) but was told not possible and to
go to BMI (zone A). Eight desks but only one agent. After waiting an age I asked if my LH
silver status would allow me to check in at biz class and was advised this would be fine. At
business a very surly agent advised only gold cards could check in and demanded to know who
had sent me there and I should go back to the economy line. I stated it was one of their own
employees, I had not noted her name and that I would not be going back! At that point she very
grumpily allowed my colleague and I to check in. Flight comfortable with middle seat left
free. The food was a cheese roll with no alternative - I have a cheese allergy so was out of
luck. Flight back, check in much friendlier with no questions asked when I used my silver card
to check in at the business class desk and the agent making a point of keeping the middle seat
free for us. Cheese roll again going back. Flight landed on time and bags off very quickly.
